Your Mother
You gotta be kidding me. Has no one seen this yet? It's HILARIOUS... I honestly was laughing from start to finish. It's great! There were some nasty scenes, I'll admit..but it was definitely worth watching.
The part where they bought a bear and put it in the back of their ice cream truck and scared off the children running up for some ice cream was GREAT! I almost fell out of my seat...
If you haven't seen it? Go. NOW.
TheShinje
It's technically impossible for me to go now since Borat! Cultural Learnings of America for Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazhakstan hasn't hit theatres yet. Of course, I could torrent it, but I'd enjoy it better at the cineplex. I am looking forward to seeing Borat! Cultural Learnings of America for Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazhakstan, and have been for a while. It looks like it will easily be the funniest movie I've seen on the big screen this year. I'll get back to this thread once I've seen it. ;)
Jakehammaren
Borat was nothing short of amazing. The fact that a good portion of it was candid (most people in the movie didn't realize that Borat was actually a fictional character being played by an actor) made it even better. And the part that Your Mother mentioned was definately my favorite part! Classic, classic stuff! I just about vomited I was laughing so hard. Amorphous
I will have to bring the opposite side of the spectrum to this discussion. I only really enjoyed Borat a little bit. While I found the movie very amusing in many parts I never found it to be laugh out loud funny. I snickered at certain scenes and yet I was not incredibly captivated to watch the movie all the way through when I myself found the movie was really slowing down. I just have not been a big fan of Sacha Baron Cohen's work and it seems he likes to get his laughs through controversy rather then being just plain funny. The one part I enjoyed highly though was
when he was speaking to the American audience at the rodeo saying things like ?I hope George Bush drinks the blood of every man, women and child in Iraq,? and still people were cheering.
Which no doubt is controversial, it is still funny. Boo
I thought the movie was hilarious. Sometimes it got a little bit too lame. I don't ever laugh out loud because of movies, but the part where Borat
throws down his bag and you hear the chicken squeel
was too good.
Has no one seen this yet?
Just no one started a thread yet.
Your Mother
Lol, yeah the part Boo mentioned was great too. Actually all scenes with the
chicken
were good. The parts
where people were trying to teach Borat how to drive, dine, and tell a joke ("NOT"!)
were spectacular.
2010DigitalBoy
I'd easily consider Borat to be the funniest movie at all time. I laughed consistently throughout the entire thing and usually had to stop myself from laughing just to hear the next joke. I got to see it weeks in advance so luckily nothing was spoiled, either. Every scene was just rediculously hilarious. I remember my eyes popping out of my head when
he comes downstairs with his crap in a little baggy XD
. Of course, though, the
naked fighting balls-in-mouth scene
is what drove this movie to the top. I mean come on -- that took balls. (XD) and it really dominates the memory lol. My favorite part was probably the Running of the Jew XD.
BlueYoshi
I left my comments on the film in another thread, but in a nutshell, you all must see this movie. It's hilarious.
The one part I enjoyed highly though was
when he was speaking to the American audience at the rodeo saying things like ?I hope George Bush drinks the blood of every man, women and child in Iraq,? and still people were cheering.[/spoiler'] Which no doubt is controversial, it is still funny.
I read some where that while this scene did actually happen,
Borat was booed and escorted off the premises for his own safety
. The boos were apparently edited to become cheers to make it funny. Also, I heard that Sascha Boran Cohen took a beating a few days ago after he tried to kiss someone Borat style whilst in character. Is this true?
Death God
i just don't see whats the big deal with that movie. i mean people are suing the movie left and right. to me the movie looks funny but i still don't know.
Japan
I wasn't very impressed with the movie overall. Of course it had it's funny parts. I noticed about that too. The jokes with the controversy things are way over rated and not very funny. The part where
Borat and his friend were wrestling and running about nude
ruined the film for me the rest of the night. JCBaggee
Great movie. Not for everyone (while it didn't offend me, I agree, Borat wrestling with his producer was disturbing), but full of great pop culture humor (Remember when everyone felt that way about Pam Anderson?). And, if you've been watching the news, great for lawsuits too! --Chris
demonboy
Saw the movie the day it came out, just haven't been here since April. XD Great success.

So many people came up to me and told me it was the funniest movie they have ever seen that I expected more than it delivered. The same thing happened to me with Napoleon Dynamite, though I will say that I liked Borat more. Finding out that most of it wasn't staged after having seen the movie made me like it a bit more, though knowing this during the movie would likely have been better.
