Fyxe
So, Guitar Hero is pretty much the equivalent of Dance Dance Revolution, but with your hands. Testing your dexterity, not your ability to jump around a mat. I love this game, it makes me feel like I am actually talented musically. Which, in reality, I'm not. Plus, there is a lot of music that I can actually bear to listen to. When I play around other people, I'm more like a zombie that doesn't even get distracted by dry-humping. But, that changes when I'm by myself. It's actually fun to freak out and get into it. Doing the whole headbang thing and attempting to do the things your character does when you use your star power. But, it does get distracting, making you miss a ton of notes. Meh, oh well. As for my skills, I'm a master at Medium, and can do well on Hard. I don't even like to think about Expert. Haha. My favorite song is probably "Cheat on the Church" by Graveyard BBQ. I get into that one the most. And, of course, just recently they release the sequel, Guitar Hero 2. Which is so much better graphics wise. I was glad that you could continue to use the controlled from the first one, otherwise my pockets would be a little dry money-wise. I was impressed what the did with the backgrounds, the fact that you can change outfits, and that now you can give encores in career mode. One thing I really hate about it, though, is the fact that they really lowered the sound and quality of the vocals on the songs. So, you can mainly only hear the guitar parts, which lowers the fun factor a little bit. Plus, when you make a mistake, it's so loud. But I guess I've gotten used to it. I'm fairly satisfied with the new song list, but I miss a lot of the old ones, too. Like, I can never get enough of good old "Godzilla" by Blue Oyster Cult. I do like that they made the songs a little more advanced, so it doesn't take as long to get into the more difficult plays. Haha, one thing I can't believe is that they actually put the song "Trogdor" by Strong Bad on the extra songs that you can buy. XD I officially love whoever made that decision. Anyway. Enough of my sharing. Do I have any fellow fake rockers? Are you a master, or a beginner? Do you have the second one? (If you don't, go buy it, fool!)
De-Lor
I am a hardcore GH player, and ido love to play on Hard, sometimes expert. But thats only because me and my roommate have made a ritual of it. We have an entire room DEDICATED to guitar hero. And wailing off behind your head with the guitar is a must, not just a fun thing to do. I mean come on, if your gonna rock, ROCK! My Favorite song to play as well as listen to is Even Rats, my second is Get Ready 2 Rokk by Freezepop. Ihavent gotten my hands on 2 yet, but its only a matter of money. As soon as i get 100 in my hand it'll magically turn into a fake reed guitar. (i wanna have both controllers so my buddies can rock out on the bass.) 2010DigitalBoy
Ah, this game is bloody superb entertainment it is! I'm like a super-star, too, cuz Im the only one in my family who can play on Medium XD I do love this game to death, but now I just want Guitar hero 2 because I'm tired of the songs on GH 1. I've heard them all too much and certain remakes are just so terrible *coughTakeMeOutcough* This game always brings my family together in the living room and widdles days away. I especially like to play songs I know the lyrics to so I can sing and play at once.
NightmareVC
I have the game. Beat it on expert. I have the sequal. Beat it on expert in the first 2 days. To me, GH2 is too easy. They made the hammer on easier. I like the songs, the way they made them longer and the different costumes in 2( namely, Judy Nails and Pandora's). I like GH1's "Take me out", "Take it off" and "Bark at the moon". For those of you people who don't have 2, it's awesome. Like I said, it's easier to hammer on. The songs are more of a "hit or miss" though. In GH1 there were those songs that I was thinking," It's alright... not the best but I can deal with it." but in GH2 it's more like," Wow, this song is trash... I can't believe I have to do this." or " I like this song so much, I just want to play it over and over!" That might just be me though...
The13thMan
I wonder if i'm the first actual guitar player to comment on the game. I believe so...unless someone's not saying so. Personally i think the game is total bollocks. It's an insult to real guitarists out there everywhere. If you want to rock out then get a freegin' guitar and learn the gadang song! Nah, i'm kidding. ^L^ I think the game's awesome. I really am a guitar player though. And in all honesty i'd say playing the guitar has only made me that much more interested in playing guitar hero 2...unfortunately i'm poor and i spent my gaming money on DDR Supernova already this year. I've played the game in stores before. What's funny is that by no means does playing guitar in real life mean you'll be good at guitar hero. I can effin' wail on the guitar on some of the songs, but give me the plastic guitar with those 5 little colored buttons on the neck and i won't be able to do the most basic skill set. I always get a laugh out of that. One thing i do like about guitar hero though is that it makes it easy to play some really kick *** songs without little practice. If you want to really sound awesome on a real guitar you gotta get some nice equipment and practice a lot. Very expensive and time consuming if all you're looking for is a chance to rock out. ^J^ So...if you have guitar hero and you live in the Knoxville, TN area then give me a ring cuz i'd love to play the game. Later.
Fyxe
Haha, yes... personally, I don't play the guitar. But I have some friends that are quite good at playing an actual guitar, but they are terrible at Guitar Hero. The funnest thing for me to do is dress up in my home-made Robin costume and play. Foxy superhero shredding it up. :P It takes skill to be a video game master, you know.
Humaru
I dont about you but I think this version is better than the PS2 version in song range but the controller causes me trouble. One of the buttons get stuck and I cant perform some riffs. That seems to be the only problem with me. It could just be the controller I used. Anyway My favorite song on there definitely is "DEAD!" by My Chemical Romance. I have the CD and I can rock out to it on the CD Player and Guitar Hero on the TV. It's really blissful. Fortunately, Deep Purple makes me happy again! Not having a 360, none of it even matters anyway. I have a question, though; has anyone here beaten the insanity that is Expert Jordan? Snake'sLover18
i think the song they should of have on the game is i am not really sure :animeswea it is called "freak on a leash" by Korn. i mean i think it is a good idea, unless u have somethin different heh heh :animeswea Snake'sLover18, here at Otakuboards, we have a strong emphasize on posting quality. P014K
Any Guitar Hero fans here? I recently got the game (3 months ago) and I got Rock the 80s when it was released. I am disappointed by its lack of new features. Its basically a skin over the GHII with just new songs. I enjoy the songs though, so I like the game a lot. I am about to get GH1, so I will be playing that. I can beat any song on hard and play most songs on expert. In GHII, I am about 80% done with expert, and in GH:R80s I'm 90% done w/ expert. My favorite song is Sweet Child Of Mine from GHII and I Ran from GH:R80s (just because I can play the last half of the song without looking at the tv :animesmil)
Metalcore501
Yeah its a fun game, but I think and real guitarist would tell you they like the real thing compared to the game as I do. I agree with you totally on rock the 80's but I can't wait til gh3 comes out myself!!!!
Aberinkula
To escape the last post's bad quality, I must say this is a good game. The only thing that pisses me off is how they ruined Beast and the Harlot. And the fact that the game is $80 with the guitar. It's like, realease it with the controller for 50 dollars. I can buy and MP3 for $35 that holds 500+ sogns but it cost's 40 dollars for a game with only about 30 songs? Give me a break. And the controler, big deal, drop the price $10 because I won't waste $80 for a game.

Tetra of sound
I don't play GH, but I probably won't get the second for a few reasons. Reason one is I don't own a PS2 or a 360. Reason two is even if I had either system, I wouldn't play it because it is missing the best(AC/DC, Metallica.) and has... uugh... Nickelback. That's just why I won't buy it. But not having AC/DC or Metallica isn't a loss, although they are essential to the musical experience. But what GH needs is some Breaking Benjamin. Some of the best riffs I've heard belong to these guys, and they are ROCK /,,/ !
Metalcore501
well it's bnat as simple as just get the song and done, they havew to get the origional artrists permission and their record lable, then they have to record it which can be tiedious. But I think they shoulda had Highway to hell on there!! XD We're going to have to work on grammar. (Spelling included) It's becoming quite tedious trying to make out words that's never been heard of. ~Tombstone~

Desbreko
I have discovered the awesome that is Guitar Hero. Of course I've known about the game since the first one was released but I'd never played it and wasn't especially interested. But we got one of my brothers a PS2 and Guitar Hero II for Christmas and so I naturally got a few turns with it before he had to go back home to the bay area. Even while watching my brothers play I was still skeptical at first about whether I'd like it or not, but when I sat down and actually played for myself it just sort of clicked. Before the first song had ended I was tapping my foot as I played and timing my strumming by the beat as much as the on-screen notes. I'm the type who sits at my PC and taps along to the beats, riffs, and vocals of songs?whether with my feet or fingers?while I'm reading and listening to the music at the same time, and Guitar Hero seemed like the next step up from doing that. I loved it. It's nothing to really brag about, but I'm a bit proud of being able to play Message in a Bottle (my favorite song out of the ones we had available) on medium and get 95% after only playing the game for a couple hours. That was kind of a goal I wanted to achieve before my brother had to leave and I wouldn't be able to play it anymore. :toothy: Come January 21st it's going to be a tough decision whether or not to buy Guitar Hero III for the Wii. I'm looking to rebuild my PC and Smash Bros. Brawl is also coming out only a few weeks later.... So much awesome, so little money.

If you just have a Wii, the better graphics aren't really worth buying a whole new system for. Plus the smoother transitions and frame rate don't really do much to change the fact that the male lead singer looks like a fish that learned to walk. I don't have any idea why they thought it was a good idea to give that sin against nature so many close-ups, but he's uglier than Donald Trump's hair. Other than that, good game. I might pick it up once I get a PS2.
Desbreko
Well crap, I just did a little research and apparently the Wii version only outputs mono sound. If that doesn't get fixed I'll probably just get it, or maybe the cheaper GHII, for the PS2 instead since I don't have a PS3 or Xbox 360. No online play or downloadable content would suck but I think mono sound would suck more. I really don't care about the graphics though. It's not like I'm looking at the characters while I'm playing anyway.
Korey
Seconded, I only play GH for the songs...not the graphics. That's something for someone who isn't playing to watch while I shred. I love GH3 and the guys at Neversoft really turned up the volume with the difficulty. I mean, if you thought Jordan was hard....play Through the Fire and Flames on Expert and see how quickly you go down. You have to pretty much double tap the beginning to hit it just right. I can only muster around 90% and that's on a good day. I can't believe that they would actually put a DragonForce song on GH though....that was kind of corny.

I have also played it on X-Box 360 (just a song or two) and I didn?t experience a notable difference in game play, so it is a worthwhile purchase. As a guitar player I didn?t really enjoy the game at first, but I think that is because, initially, I could have easily picked my guitar up and learned to play the songs far better than I could mash the damn buttons on the guitar controller. After playing a little though I have become hooked, especially since the set list is so good for Guitar Hero 3. The Who, Metallica, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Johnson, Queens of the Stone Age, Muse, Sonic Youth, shoot, even the Pretenders? song, make the normal set list great. And then, as a bonus, there are great additional tracks by bands like the Kaiser Chiefs and cheesy songs by groups like the Brett Michaels Band. My only real question is whether or not Velvet Revolver makes an appearance on the game? After all, one of their songs shows up on the commercial for the game.
