Well now, seeing as Internet Explorer 7 or Window Internet Explorer as the brand has been renamed in the wake of Vista is coming up to one month old I was wondering what other members make of the new set-up.

Personally I think it's an improvement on the old system, though I have to admit I'm not too keen on not being able to view websites in any other font other than Trebuchet MS, though there's probably a way to change that and I simply haven't found it. The appearance of much of the text as well appears to have been designed from a purely LCD monitor viewpoint as ClearType font smoothing absolutely cannot be enabled on a CRT monitor without making you feel as if you're surfing while intoxicated.

As I said however I feel it is actually an improvement on the previous version as the elements taken from competitive browsers like Firefox, tabs, multiple search engines (though the Wiki one sucks for anything longer than one word) and of course you can access your visited sites offline which can't be done with Firefox, which is massively handy for long RP posts without tying up the phone line.

Other people's thoughts ?

I think it beats everything else out there in the aesthetics department, as well as how it handles RSS feeds (INFINITELY better than Firefox), and it supports plugins. It's off to a good start, and a great way to redeem Microsoft. Although AOL is unforgivable at this point, I think IE7 has potential to take back the lost market share from Firefox.

Although, even being the memory whore it is, Firefox is currently the preferred browser since there's nothing else that can both display websites properly and has mouse gestures.

See, I think it runs OK, despite random website display issues... but I think it looks horrendous. The tab system just looks bizarre. It's not difficult to use, but I really wish they'd offer some sort of skin support. Maybe it'll look better in Vista (with Aero, anyway), but on XP it's pretty bleh.

I agree, I have Internet Explorer 7, and I have to say that it's just ok. It's not really anything too special, but anyway's, I think I still prefer my Firefox.

I got upset when my brother changed my new computer to firefox from internet explorer but after using it for a few weeks theres no going back, the overall layout and design of firefox is much more user friendly and I like the way the tabs are set up.

I guess its personnal prreference but I think microsoft had its chance and is now just implementing things that people have been asking for years. I think that even tho IE7 will be nice, when the new firefox comes out it will blow it out of the water, microsoft is now behind the eightball. (just my opinion)

Internet Explorer 7 stinks, as far as I see it. The whole menu thing in the top has been replaced and all. They now use these stinky little signs instead of just normal things. The tab system looks horrible like mentioned and I can't help but hate the anti-alias that it automatically put on all of the text on webpages.

I used to use IE more than FireFox, but now I erased it from my quickstart list and put FireFox in it's place.
