yes, i have lost faith. my reason, releasing a console at $600, and this whole $100 games.
WTF are these $100 games you are talking about?
oops, i lied, is this just a myth i've heard talking to the gamers i associate with or can the ps3 only play ps3 games?
PS3 has full BC so it plays PS2 games as well as PS1 games.

While I never specified, I never said that you MUST buy the wireless headset for the Xbox 360. I never said you MUST buy the HD-DVD player for the Xbox 360. I merely said that to experience it at it's COMPLETE- FULLEST, note that I did say complete- fullest not gaming-fullest, You would have to shell out as much as the PS3. Lets scroll back up to make sure thats what was intended...annnnnnnnd...yes.
//snip//
Go to hell on the 'average consumer' thing because the 'average consumer' doesn't even want to pay $400 for a gaming console.

Let's head back to the retro-gaming thing for a minute, but lets avoid Nintendo for now because it seems they've been granted immunity this time around because they have done damn well. Abooouuuutt how many Xbox 360 games are backwards compatible? Like 300-ish compared to it's 500-ish library? Something along those lines, correct? Yeah. How many of them are utter crap? A good portion? Yeah. At least, if in low-quality, the PS3 can play ALL games from PS1 and PS2.
It still boils down to having no choice with Sony, it?s either bend over like Charles said and get the full treatment or go with someone else and not be loaded down with features you don?t need. Sony?s trying to set a precedent where you buy this huge package that does everything, whether you need it or not. It?s a complete waste of money and no matter how you look at it, they are trying to stick it to their customers while trying to make it look like they are doing you a favor in the process.

My family already has a HD setup, but I guess if we want to play playstation3 games we apparently need another HD player that we will never use for playing movies. But then most people have more junk than they need anyway, so why care? [/sarcasm]

The average consumer is a big part of this picture, which is why Sony is getting so much criticism over their newest console, they?ve essentially gone overboard and left a lot of the average consumers out of the loop with the prohibitive price of their new system. And the fact that it?s backwards compatible is only good for people who have never bought a playstation system. I have playstation2 so for me it doesn?t make one bit of difference, especially since the backwards bit looks terrible. I?m better off using the older system to play my games.

In the end I don?t even know why you care that others think Sony?s newest generation console has issues.
PS3 has full BC so it plays PS2 games as well as PS1 games.
True, but until they get an upgrade like it shows here in the link Dead provided:
you have to pay to get old PS games off Sony's marketplace anyway, and to top it off, retro gaming on the PS3 looks like **** checkit). [/color']
Playing them on the playstation3 actually looks worse than playing them on the older system would. I know I wouldn?t want to buy playstation3 until that was fixed. I mean that go to hell bit has the greedy lets gouge our customers as much as possible attitude written all over it. :rotflmao:

How about getting companies to consider paying employees more so they can actually afford to enjoy things to the fullest with their all inclusive systems instead of expecting them to, as Charles so colorfully put it, bend over and just take it?

Maybe if the average consumer had an easier time keeping up with the ever-widening gap between cost and earnings they might not be so up in arms about how expensive Sony's gaming console is. Because the stark truth is that millions of people can?t just run out and buy something if they want it, even if they like the company, they have to sit back and look at the whole picture and then decide on which system is the most affordable for them.

Even the companies who make movies are tapping into this by separating extra features on the DVD?s so people can simply buy the movie without all the extras on it for a lower price. You don?t stay afloat as a company by sticking it to your customers, you get there by realizing that the market is changing and that being more flexible is the best course of action. Something Sony has yet to realize.

Sony made a shitload of mistakes in 2006, and I'm not a Sony fangirl, but it's rather ridiculous to completely count the PS3 and PSP out.

Faith is too strong a word, but Sony is still in the game. They just have to work up the hill they've dragged themselves into, and it's not an impossible task. It's a far cry for me to say that next year, with price drops and apps coming out for the PS3, that Sony will dominate, but it'll help.

Or, Sony can keep on being ***** and die off.
