What does Otakuboards look like?

This is a really strange question, and I'm hoping to get interesting answers.

The question is, in your mind, have you ever created what otakuboards looks like, and if you have, please share a description.

For example, if you've ever read Solo's fabulous Enter the Net, he gives a description of Otakuboards as a real place. I remember something about zooming over a very large lake to get to Otakuboards.

For me, Otakuboards has always been a bunch of extremely long corridors and hallways, all on one floor, although the entire building is situated on a hill. For story purposes (a story that never got written, mind you) I have imagined myself climbing into my closet, closing the door, stumbling around in the dark for a bit, and when I come out and open my door that leads to the rest of the house, being confronted with a looong hallway with grey-ish white walls, and old, beat up dark wood baseboards and crownmoulding.

The corridors are rather long and boring, but if you open any of the doors, you're greeted by loud sights and sounds coming from the different forums on the boards.

I imagine that somewhere in the complex, everyone has a tiny personal room, where PMs are delivered and such.

There's also a bunch of studies (like the room, study, you know) wandering around there. Mostly with rich, dark wood paneling, dark wood furniture, a nice leather swivel chair, etc. My mind says that when people sign up for RPGs, they are evaluated by the creator in these studies. I also think of Charles sitting in there like the Godfather of some sorts, passing judgement on those who are silly. lol

Have you ever thought about what Otakuboards would look like if it were a real place? ...Or am I the only one. *_*

OtakuBoards is an island, consisting mainly of a Fifth Element/Blade Runner-esque megalopolis.

Of course there are also the majestic forests, the enchanting tundra, and let us not forget the purple mountains' majesty.

Island - City - Middle Earth. That's it.

In a server farm in Massachusetts, there is a box. It's about, say, 12 inches wide, about an inch tall, and covered in black plastic. Out of its back stream wires and cables, connecting it to the rest of the server farm, and in turn in the internet. Inside that box, is Velegant, and in a tiny corner of that box - is OB.

OB looks like a million other websites, just data on a disk in a server in a server farm.

^Alan smells lol.

OB is so obviously my primary school field, but many times bigger. It has that mini-hill to one side of the middle. There's a a astro-turf football pitch behind the hill. But nobody plays there. Everyone just plays in the middle of the field. Except for random cliques who just walk around.

It's a playground :animesigh

Hmmm....Otakuboards is a sub-district of The Lost City of Atlantis. It consists of many people who love to chat with each other and discuss topics of interest. They love to come here and post non-sense. That is what Otakuboards is and will forever remain as.

Note: Directions to The Lost City of Atlantis not available. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Interesting, most interesting.

Mr Maul kind of hit it with what he said, I've always kind of imagined OtakuBoards in a physical form as being a kind of megalopolis, though more in keeping with something like the Mega Cities of Judge Dredd or even Star Wars' own Coruscant in that the city isn't all splendid and gleaming but reflects a living, breathing populace.

If OtakuBoards were real, it would come across as a type of city where the living quarters are along the outside rim and special light rail systems run throughout the whole city. There are also futuristic transporters for those who would rather arrive at their destination instantly.

In the center would be a grand complex where those who run the place reside along with those who help maintain order.

Then there would be various sections of the city devoted to what ever you were interested in, to games, stories, get together events, anime and amusement parks much in the same way you would be part of an rpg.

And scattered among all of this would be restaurants with nearly every food you could imagine available.

I've always thought of the OB as a large highschool with the popular kids (mods, admins, famous members), the outcasts (banned members), the normal people (regular members), the freshmen (n00bs). Only, school is much, much more disorganized than the OB.

I've always seen it as your average village in the old days where everyone is neighboorly and cool to each other and stuff. Like a pizza.

The crust is the structure of the site of course. The sauce is the internet we swim through, while the cheese is the flavor added by the style of OB. We are the toppings, in all sorts of flavors and stuff and types.

---and OB marriages are like the toppings that are on top of each other XD

Of course some of us are anchovies lol

I like that one, very discriptive.

I think of the OB as the giant city, three giant districts [one for Hardwired, one for The Prefecture and one for The Tokyo 3] with a musem at the city centre[Representing the history forums], on the outside the city is sourrounded by three canyons one to the North [The Arena] on to the East [The Square] and one to the West [The Anthology]

Within the three districts, you've got your neightbourhooods, which house the forums that are under that subject, and we are running around in our cars [exotics for outstanding members / muscle cars for the ones who post alot / and imports for the rest of us]

where are the administrators? think of them as the cops chasing after the bad posters.

I think I just had a Need For Speed Carbon moment. >_>'
