Over the years there have been many Street Fighter and King of Fighters games. Even though King of Fighters derived from Fatal Fury it proved to be an eye catcher for many gamers around my neighborhood. Street Fighter has stood strong throughout the years and it just so happens it was the first game I ever played. Now when it comes time to choose which is better, Street Fighter takes the cake.

Street Fighter has awesome characters and has provided entertainment for most ages. My favorite characters would have to be Ryu, Ken, and Sakura. They are my best characters and no one can defeat with them. I have the perfect onslaught when I choose these characters. Also the individual storylines of all the different characters gives the story a good twist when you're fighting certain characters. Street Fighter has impacted many other games and many cultures. There is always a couple of Street Fighter characters at E3 or some video game awards. Truly, Street Fighter is a legend when it comes to gaming.

Which is your favorite: Street Fighter or King of Fighters?

King Of Fighters is by far, hands down, easily the best in 2-D fighters. Utilizing the then powerful Neo Geo it was clear why you had to pay $600 dollars to have superior gaming in your home or have to go to an Arcade to play. Longer games, more beautiful looking games, and just plain btter games.

That includes KOF. To me KOF makes Street Fighter look like a button mashers dream. I feel that KOF is a bit more technical, if you can even call a 2-D fighter technical. The character line-up was always a bit more realistic and they always looked a bit better too. Terry, Iori, K', Kyo, and so on so forth. I'm an SNK fan for life because I grew up playing the Neo Geo and I'd take any SNK fighter over a Capcom fighter any day.

But at the end of the day, all argues aside, it all comes down to; Are you a Capcom fan or an SNK fan?

Street Fighter just is one of the best game series ever with an almost as wonderful game 'soundtrack'. The stories for each character are oftenly quite cool aswell as the characters themselves.

To be honest, I haven't played any of the newer versions of Street Fighter since Alpha 2 or something for SNES. They are just, like mentioned, legends.

No idea about the King of Fighters, but nothing can beat Street Fighter anyway. Period.

Why not just get one of the Capcom vs. SNK games? Have your cake and eat it too, my friend!

If I had to pick a favorite though, I would choose Street Fighter. No other 2D figher quite matches the fidelity of a Street Fighter game, which is why so many companies try to plagiarize the formula.

I would probably prefer the Guilty Gear series over SNK games as well, but lately I have adittedly been losing interest in those games because each iteration seems more like a reprint than a follow-up. But then again, isn't that typical for the genre?

King of Fighters has always been my favorite fighting game series ever. Above Tekken and certainly above Street Fighter. I think part of it is that there's more characters, and they're all very different, unlike Street Fighter, where half of the characters are basically clones of eachother. Also, I just think that the characters are cool, and most have a decent plot to them.

The fighting system itself is complex as hell, but it's not to the point that you can't beat the game on your first play. I think that Street Fighter is easier for newbies, and they have just as much of a chance of beating you as soon as they learn that one can jump over all the fireballs you're lobbing at them. If you're good at KOF, you opponent knows it, man.

I nearly broke down when the local arcade that had a Neo-Geo machine closed down. ;_;

street fighter, actually the king of fighters was derived from street fighter itself, seeing how similar Ryo Sakazaki was to both Ryu and Ken in appearance and in fighting style, capcom decided to make Dan a parody of both of them :catgirl: just an FYI.

since the guys at SNK were too lazy to come up with their own characters Street Fighter wins! haha
