Well, my dad was a big inspiration to me to start drawing. He used to draw when he was younger (be it on the walls, in his notebook, etc) and I thought that it was really great, his work. He does realism (real life people, things...) and I draw anime. He tried to teach me and it was fun but my style is anime. However, he still teaches me things I need to know, so he's a really big inspiration to me.

Wow, good question... awesome.

I would have to say that my inspiration would have to be my friends because they all could draw better than I ever could. That made me start trying to draw, but it was so horrible....really. But I continued to draw and I'm much better now than I was before. My friends have cheered me on until today, making me focus and train on drawing. Even though my style is also anime, I draw inatimate objects and other things like that.

I want to focus art as becoming my carrer because I love doing it, be it graphic design or drawing.

I'm pretty sure it was Digimon that inspired me to draw. The reason I actually wanted to draw anime is because I had visualised my own Digimon characer and wanted to see her on paper. Of course, I was completely rubbish but I've come on a bit since them. I do realism sometimes and get a certain amount of satisfaction from it, and I adore drawing flowers and nature, but I think anime will always be my preferred style. It's the way anime can have any style hair, clothes or, well...anything, that makes it so interesting.

I used to want to be an illustrator, but I don't think I ever could be. Art is for my own expression, and I couldn't end up drawing for a comission if it meant conveying another person's emotions in the picture. That's just me, though.

(And Tiana, you just made me realise I need a Christmas banner)

Hmmm... That's a good question.

Well, I guess it mostly just comes naturally to me. It's in my genes. My mother is an EXCELLENT artist, and my dad's not half bad either.

I didn't really realize that I was good at drawing until I was in about grade 5, but once I realized I could do it, I've done nothing but improve. It's absolutely amazing to compare my artwork now with the artwork I did a few years ago.

I can't remember anything really inspiring me to start drawing. Like I said, it just kinda happened naturally. When I was in grades 5 and 6 I was really into fairies and fantasy, though. I started teaching myself to draw anime around the beginning of grade 7, after doing a bunch of online quizzes that had lovely anime images for the results. :animesmil It was around that time that I really got into watching anime, too, so I saw a bunch of different styles and stuff, and I was able to get more creative with my artwork. So I guess you could say that it was the internet that ultimately inspired me to get serious about drawing. :p

Although anime is my favourite style to draw (it's the most fun :D ), I also do quite a bit of realism. I'm mostly into drawing people though. Anything else I just find dead boring.

Drawing is one thing that I consider to be a release from one world and a door to the next because when you draw you are expressing yourself and by expressing yourself you usually feel better right, but it's not just expressing myself that made me want to draw and keep on drawing it's the feeling I get from seeing one of my own peices of work and the hope I have that one day my little characters will be in an actual anime show.

And I too must say good question dude. :)

I don't have as high hopes for my art work. Most GOOD artists seem to die before there art is truly recognized on a cultural world-wide scale. I honestly don't want a show made of my artwork. I'm more of an underground artist so trading my work up like that would be like an underground band becoming mainstream. I'd technically be a sell-out like Green-day(Not fond of them). I don't want to be that. In fact most of my art is signed with a nickname to keep it anonymous in the future.
To sum it up, I really am good, I just don't want recognition.

My mom always painted holiday-related ornaments as a hobby, so I guess that's what initiated my love of art. I decided to take an art class in 7th grade but the teacher sucked. I tried again once I got into high school and was put into the 'bad' class. I did horrible in that class all the way up to the last assignment, where we had to draw from a live model. As we got around to working on our pictures, the 'good' Art I class was finishing up their pictures and the teacher was hanging them up on the wall.

She stopped all of us to show us a picture from her best student in that class, Alison. It was beautiful, no joke. I looked at hers, I looked at mine, and started over and tried to mimic her the best that I could (you know, with my own style) and finally came out with something I truly liked. It got hung up and the teacher showed it to Alison's class and said that it was the best in her other class.

The next day, Alison stopped me in the hall and said "I really like your artwork and I wish I could draw as good as you."

So now we've been in competition for three years. :3

G'Day, my passion for art has been with me ever since I can remember. I am inspired by beautiful things every day...or sometimes just random thoughts or acts... Anything can be a source of inspiration for me I think... Well now I think about it, I am also inspired by some things that aren't so beautiful... It depends on my mood at the time I suppose... :animesmil

But what do I draw?? Mostly realism be it landscapes, figures, still life, photography etc... However I have recently discovered a whole new world called anime!! ^_^ I still love to use my charcoals/pastels/graphite/oil paints etc though....So hopefully there will be a wider repetoir (however you spell that) in my portfolio... :catgirl:

AND OMG I'M *UBER EXCITED* The other day I got a letter back from Uni (I believe the Yanks call it College) and I have been accepted in to do a Bachelor of Fine Art!! WOOOHOOOO!!! I'm going to have a career in art!! (not that i'll make PILES of cash, but I'll have an awesome life doing what I want to do!!) :D

:catgirl: I guess what inspires me to start drawing is from my sister, who loved to watch Sailormoon during her childhood years (I was 8, I think). I saw her drawing Usagi Tsukino on her sketchbook and it was beautiful. I couldn't draw properly. Then I got addicted to draw anime. I keep on drawing, practice to make my anime drawing as perfect as possible. Now, I am proud that I can draw anime very well, and I should thank my sister for this spontaneous occurence in the past.

I've been drawing since I could pick up a pencil. I loved animals and monsters as a kid, and alot of the things I drew came from either my love of animals (alá sharks, snakes, lizards, and such) or just a strange child's imagination (lots of worm and dragon-like monsters). Eventually I also got into drawing dinosaurs and what not.

Then around 3rd or 4th Grade, I saw my first episode of Dragon Ball Z and immediatetly switched hustles and began tracing and drawing (badly I might add) Dragon Ball Z characters, along with a few Street Fighter characters (who I would later favor in art style). Then Gundam, Digimon, and all the other anime began flooding into America and eventually I found myself drawing in my own distinct, original style which I still use and develop today.

So I guess it would be animals, nightmares, anime, and Jurassic Park which inspired me to draw.

Well I got my love for drawing from my mom. She liked to draw when she was younger. I always loved to color and draw when I was little but I didn't really try to improve untill fifth grade, when I started watching DragonBall Z. So my inspiration came fom anime early on.

I agree, its so strange/fun to compare my art to my art then. I've improved so much since then.
