The place always had this awe-inspiring effect on him, with all it?s towering shelves and endless rows of books and other literature. In the Digital Age the place was a rare sight, but to an aspiring journalist like Evan, it was a treasure trove.

He walked to the Information Desk, attracting the attention of the seemingly bored receptionist.

[B]?Can I help you??[/B] she asked monotonously.

[B]?Yes, please. I need to find any articles about the ?Kira?-incident in Japan from about thirty years back?[/B], Evan said. The receptionist shrugged.

[B]?I see what I can do. You do know that most of the material is highly unreliable, with so many rumors and false leads having went on that time.?[/B]

Evan nodded, but the woman just sniffed at him scornfully.

[i](Great customer service here)[/i], Evan thought.

[B]?Here you go: section B.15, shelf 237. 27. There?s all the notable incidents gathered from the newspapers and tabloids from the year 2006. Doubt you'll find anything significant there, though.?[/B]

Evan had to wander quite a while until he reached the shelf with what he had been looking for.

He stopped at the shelf 237.27, and searched for the year 2006.

[B]?Here we go! Kira, I?m going to find out everything about you??[/B] Evan grinned. He picked up a stack of newspapers from the shelf, and carried them to a table. He searched the headlines one by one, but there were surprisingly few mentions of Kira and Japan in them, mostly just wild rumors and articles about rapidly decreased crime rates.

It was just like the recent week had been. A series of criminals had died under strange circumstances. Suddenly there were old people everywhere screaming ?Kira is back!?. Was history repeating itself?

As he went through the stack, his eyes caught up in a black notebook that had somehow gotten between the newspapers. He picked it up, and saw the words ?Death Note? written on the cover with white.

[B]?What?s this???[/B] he said by himself.

[I][B]{Just flip the thing open and you?ll find out}[/B][/I], said a quite depressed voice next to him. Evan quickly turned his face towards the speaker, just to see an almost naked youth sitting on the long table. His skin was pale blue and had two pairs of indigo wings, one sprouting from his bare ankles and the other from his head. But what captured Evan?s attention was the young man?s sad, ageless eyes that glistened with bloody tears.[/COLOR]

Welcome to [B]Death Note[/B], an RPG based on the popular manga/anime. The events of this game take place about thirty years after the happenings depicted in the series, but are [I]completely[/I] independent from them. That means there can be no appearances of the original characters. In fact, there shouldn't be any major spoilers on the events of the series at all.

The world of this game has moved to a fully digitalized era, with technology having become a part of everybody's everyday life. The incident of [I]Kira[/I] (a Japanese version of the word "Killer") cleansed the Earth from the worst criminals, but after thirty years, corruption and organized crime is thriving again. Then, a series of unexplained deaths happen almost simultaneously in several countries. Has [I]Kira[/I] returned?

The characters in this game are all people who have gotten their hands on a Death Note in the continent of North America, although they can originate from other countries as well. For more details on the characters, check out the sign-up sheet.

Now, like the series, this game features some rules concerning the Death Notes and the Death Gods, or the Shinigami, who accompany the carriers of the notebooks.

[center][COLOR=DarkRed][b]Rules concerning the use of Death Note:[/b]
[b]1.[/b] The human whose name is written in this note shall die.
[b]2.[/b] This note will not take effect unless the writer has the subject's face in their mind when writing his/her name. Therefore, people sharing the same name will not be affected.
[b]3.[/b] If the cause of death is written within 40 seconds of writing the subject's name, it will happen.
[b]4. [/b]If the cause of death is not specified, the subject will simply die of a heart attack.
[b]5.[/b] After writing the cause of death, the details of the death should be written in the next 6 minutes and 40 seconds.

[b]Rules concerning the Death Gods:[/b]
[b]1.[/b] A Shinigami must own at least one Death Note. That Death Note may also be used and owned by a human, but only if the Death Note falls to earth and is found by a human. The Shinigami have to keep using the Death Note to kill people in order to extend their own lives.
[b]2.[/b] A pact exists between the human owner and the Shinigami who gave the human the Death Note. The pact is such that at the end of the owner's life, the shinigami has to write down the owner's name in his own note.
[b]3.[/b] Shinigami eyes have the ability to learn the subject's natural life span and name by simply looking at the subject's face. A human with a Death note can gain this ability from a Shinigami, with the price of having their remaining natural life span cut in half. The human with this ability cannot see their own life span or the life span of other Death Note holders.
[b]4.[/b] All Shinigami have the ability fly, no matter if they have wings or not. They can also move between dimensions.
[B]5.[/B] Most importantly, they can only be seen and heard by whoever has touched their Death Note.[/COLOR][/center]

Basically, you don't have to know anything else about the Death Notes or the Shinigami to participate, but of course those who've read the manga or watched the anime will enjoy it more. I don't know how many characters I'll accept yet, it all depends on the quality of your sign-ups.

[B]How acquired the Death Note:[/B] He found it in the Archives, an old-fashioned library in Washington D.C., when he was investigating the case of Kira, a Japanese mass-murdered who aimed to purge the world of evil.
[B]Other Information:[/B] He moved to the US from Australia with his parents when he was a preteen, but still has the foreign accent in his speach. His college boyfriend, Adam St. Valentine, killed himself four years back by taking an overdose of medicine. Ever since that incident, Evan has stopped going out and dedicated himself fully to his studies. When he graduated, he started working on the prestigious Washington Post.

[B]Appearance of the Shinigami:[/B] He appears as a thin, young male. He has pale blue skin with some downs sprouting out of it here and there. He also has four indigo blue feathery wings, one pair growing out of his ankles and the other pair from his temples. His features are quite feminine, as is his long, flowing white hair. His eyes reflect the sadness of death, and tears of blood drip from them constantly.[/COLOR]

As a final note, a word of warning: I intend to make the game reflect the rating it has, so there's going to be gory death scenes, no limitations to the profanities that the characters can say, and also explicit sexual acts. I do not want the game to be all mindless and immoral, though, but be prepared.

Angie is very much a fashionista, keeping up with the latest fashion trends and what all the famous celebrities are wearing, but has lately preferred to dress in very plain clothes, generally wearing tight shirts with cargo shorts and flip flops. She's always ready to put on the occasional skirt and whip out her heels, though. She keeps her shoulder length brown hair kept up in a bun, except when she wants to impress someone or is just too lazy to put it up.
[b]Personality:[/b] Angie is a fun loving girl, who many have called a bit strange or even crazy, which may not be too far from the truth. If she isn't crazy, she's definitely bipolar, often going from happy one moment to angry and irritated the next, with little to no warning at all. She's also a bit of a hypocrite, but she pays very little attention to it, even when others bring it up. She was a vigorous attendee of night clubs and parties until her discovery of Song, after which she began cleaning up her act.

[b]Other Information:[/b] After meeting Song, Angie treated her more like a younger sister than a spirit of death, having lost her own younger sister when she was only ten. She had since felt that it was her lack of good role-model behavior that led her sister to die (the cause of which she refuses to tell anyone), but didn't do anything to change it until she became convinced that Song was her second chance.

[b]Appearance of the Shinigami:[/b] Song looks no older than eight or nine, and would seem like any other young girl if it weren't for her paper white skin, long gray hair, entirely black eyes, and what appears to be black tape covering her mouth. Despite her eyes being nothing but black circles on her round face, Song communicates through them, rather than through her mouth, using a strange form of telepathy. Song wears a small, bright green sun dress (which contrasts sharply with her colorless body). She also has a pair of small white wings protruding from her back, but look more like tree branches in the winter, barren and frail, than actual wings. However, she is still able to float, and prefers to do so over actually using her bare feet. [/indent][/size]

Clean shaven with the exception of a small soul patch leading into a thin beard. He typically wears dark jeans and normal t-shirts, usually plain white or black. Though he enjoys dressing casually he also wears work out clothes from time to time even when he isn't at the gym. For important occaisions he's known to wear suits but dislikes them on a whole. He wears a golden chain around his neck with a small cross pendant.

[b]Personality[/b]: Matt has a good head on his shoulders, though it wasn't always that way. Leaving a questionable past behind, he became more sociable and worked hard on achieving his goal to become a baseball player. He is easy to get along with and dosen't become offended easily. Seeing and being through many hard times, he likes using examples from his past to pave his own future so he dosn't lose sight of his goals. He also uses his own past as experience to help others, believing that asking for help shouldn't be something to be ashamed of. Though not exceptionally intellegent in an academic sense, Matt's street smarts and subtle wisdom come through strongly.

[b]How acquired the Death Note[/b]: Matt noticed the Death Note lying underneath a locker room bench, after taking his after game shower.

-Matt used to live a life of drinking and drugs on the streets, but has long since reformed his ways at the age of 21 after being involved in a gang incident in which his friend was killed. He earned himself a baseball scholarship in high school, but never went to college. Since then he's been trying to make a name for himself by playing for his college team.
-Matt is actually half chinese and half italian, despite being born in Italy.
-Matt's relationship with Forseti is somewhat calm and unusually understood. Forseti is well spoken despite his contraversial views on how justice should be carried out in the human world, so they tend to conversate under the belief that they co-exist on balanced terms.
-Matt had a serious girlfriend when he was 22, but she left him a year later when her job relocated her to Paris.

[b]Name and Title of the Shinigami[/b]: Forseti, The Wings of Justice
[b]Appearance of the Shinigami[/b]: Forseti takes a somewhat human appearence, despite clearly being distorted. His hair is a short and ruffled black which is kept pointed upward by a bandage wrapped around the top of his forehead. His right eye has a small and dim golden pupil, while his left eye is a large and brighter gold. Bandages wrap around his mouth as well, though it does not inhibit his ability to speak. His arms are covered in markings, as are his legs, but his body is doned in a trenchcoat length black and gold garment, torn at the arms and slightly at the bottom. His most palpable feature are his gray wings that attach to his upper back and span a few inches past his fingertips in length. The gray wings represent his view and comprehension on justice, being the blending line between good and evil, justice and injustice. The concept ultimatley getting lost in a sea of uncertainty amongst those in the human world.

As for clothes, he tends to wear a pair of jeans and a button shirt, usually plain black or with a slight stripe to it. Either baseball shoes or trainers cover his feet. He also wears a band of black leather around his right wrist, and has a plain chrome ring on the index finger of his left hand. A neck-chain made of similar plain chrome hangs around his neck.

[b]Personality: [/b]Alex has always been known as the life and soul of any party. He is funny, witty and charming, and knows how to make friends that can last a lifetime. He has a wickedly sharp sense of humour, which stems from his dry British wit and sarcasm, although he doesn't use it to an extent that it distances him from people. He is also incredibly clever, but his intelligence brings about a certain concern about the state of the world.

[b]How He Acquired The Death Note: [/b]Alex found his own Death Note tucked into the pocket of his jacket after a party one evening.

[b]Other Information: [/b]Not many people know about this, but Alex is in fact adopted. He was on a holiday to America with his parents when they were killed in a hit-and-run accident. He was fostered by another English couple living in New York City, but they revealed this fact to him as soon as they thought he was old enough. He has since been searching for any records of his late birth parents. However, he has a healthy relationship with his foster parents, and treats them as his real parents. After all, they are the ones who raised him.

While he appears to get along fine with Auld, Alex is, in fact, a little freaked out by him. The way Auld always follows him, how he appears seemingly out of nowhere, how you can never quite tell what he is thinking, all these things and more creep Alex out slightly.

[b]Appearance of the Shinigami: [/b]Auld is, as his title suggests, a shadowy figure. While humanoid in figure, his form is constantly cloaked in shadow, with just a pair of crimson eyes piercing out from the darkness. It seems as though he is constantly wearing a long, hooded black cloak, but this could in fact be his natural form. He follows Alex around constantly, melting out from the shadows to join him, but he rearely speaks. He simply...watches Alex...

Her eyes are dark black and calculating, always seeming to flicker from people?s faces to objects. She would be described as ?angelic?, her gentle oriental features mixed with those of the west giving her a very soft and doll-like look. She never seems to smile and if she does, it never spreads to her eyes. Her expressions always seem to be those of thoughtfulness or judgment.

[B]Personality:[/B] Beth is reserved and barely speaks in school, having been cut off from people of her own age when she was young. Her parents, though caring, were obsessed with sheltering and almost cultivating her mind once they discovered the enormity of his IQ. At first she was reluctant to do well in school and would purposefully fail tests, but soon she realised that her life would be the same no matter what she did. She was moved forward in school, which was when the bullying began, and she almost formed a split personality.

While in school she is serious, quiet and calculating, at home she is bright and happy around her parents. She makes up stories to ensure them that school is going fantastically and tells them of all the friends she is making. Sometimes she thinks she hates herself for living her life this way, but the proud smiles of her mother and father assure her that it?s worth it.

[B]How acquired the Death Note:[/B] Beth is bullied badly in school and was locked in a dusty old cupboard in the library one afternoon. As she rooted through the old magazines and newspapers she came across a curious black notebook?

-She tries not to think about it, but Beth wishes more than anything to get back at the people who have, and are, making her life a living hell.
-Despite intense research, Beth can?t find any conclusive information on the Kira case. She?s only heard brief mention of it but badly wants to find out more.
-Beth has a habit of creating her own personal world where things go her way. She dreams of being stronger and of being able to stand up for herself, but just can?t find the courage.

Appearance of the Shinigami: When first seeing Esdras, one would immediately relate him to the traditional Grim Reaper. He stands at almost 9 foot tall, his face gaunt and bulging eyes shining with a dull blue light. His fingers, though skeletal, are hooked and sharp like claws and the same goes for his feet. The only ?clothing? he appears to have is a ripped and dirty black cloak that appears to move of it?s own accord, almost like oil. It swirls and spikes out depending on Esdras? mood, which, despite his appearance, is usually quite cheery.

[b]Appearance[/b]: Anthony never was one to care for his appearances. Maybe it was because his mom was a hair stylist, and he wanted another reason to be different. Or perhaps he just wanted to rebel against what society thought was cool ? he already was into books and roleplaying games.

As a result, Anthony?s hair is never styled. It certainly isn?t long by any means. It?s cut rather nicely, in his own opinion. It?s just that he never gels it, even if he were to go on a date (which, surprisingly enough, he never has). He just doesn?t care for those sort of things.

On another note, you will never see him in a collared shirt, even though half of his wardrobe consists of them. He mostly prefers t-shirts ? especially video game or movie related ones. Despite the fact that they make him a ?walking billboard?, it?s just his preference over clothes that tend to choke you more times than not.
[b]Personality[/b]: Anthony is something of a mixed bag. If he?s on the computer, writing or doing research, he is one of the most serious people you can meet. But if he is actually away from the monitor ? which barely happens to begin with when he has no plans ? he is one of the most goofy, hyperactive geeks you can find.
[b]How acquired the Death Note[/b]: He bought in a pawn shop ? he thought it was a cool looking notebook.
[b]Other Information[/b]: Anthony nearly died even before he was born when he was choking on his umbilical cord. This permanently affected his speech ? he calls himself the ?thinking retard? because of it. He also tends to slur, or talk faster than people can hear. This affected his self esteem greatly.

[b]Appearance of the Shinigami[/b]: Chernabog is without a doubt the most devilish Shinigami you will ever meet. Two black horns sprout from his head, and he sports an angular, crimson chin. His chest is a dark red, with his bat like wings being black. His arms are wrapped in a sort of black leather, whereas his chest is dressed in a sort of black toga.[/font]

Hira isn?t the most noticeable person in the world from his looks; however, it is his apparel that tends to attract an eye from the populace. Although he does tend to wear black from his shirt to his shoes, he wears an assortment of charms and oddly shaped designs on his person, be them around his neck, on his ear, or on his fingers. He could seem like a cultist, if not one who believes in the occult. He instead just wears these things because he thinks that they look cool.

[B]Personality[/B]: Hira could be described as the loner type of kid. He is constantly alone and even at times seen talking to himself. He is usually seen wearing dark close to go along with his dark outlook on life. He would seem to have a gothic personality, yet instead he cringes when people think of him as a Goth or even an Emo person. When he talks, if he talks that is, he talks in short fragments with an occasional pause in the middle. Which when compared to others is actually rather odd. He seems to have a dark outlook on life all his own, seeing as he has had no tragic event that had changed his life in some significant way.

[B]How acquired the Death Note[/B]: While walking around the city, he found it lying on a nearby bench.

[B]Other Information: [/B] -Hira has a large God Complex, thinking that he was the one who was chose to extinguish everyone who he determines is fit enough to live in this world.
-While plotting to himself and how to inflict pain on other people, Hira tends to add in a lot of sadistic in it seeing as he enjoys these thoughts.
-He tends to be shy around others; especially if they are people, he doesn?t recognize.

[B]Appearance of the Shinigami:[/B] At first glance, Esther seems to be a beautiful maiden of dreams; her whole body seems as if it was a deity of heaven. However, she does have a very large sadistic side, which contrasts her form. She has piercing red eyes that match the tone of her hair and jet-black wings that flutter behind her dainty like form. Her whole body seems to be wrapped in one long piece of cloth, long enough to wrap around her entire body around five times, making up her lack of proper clothing.

[B]Appearance.:[/B] Sean is black and white, to put it literally. He has a moderately tanned complex, with deep blue eyes and thin, soft red lips. His hair is rather long and straight, very thin and silklike. The hair at the back of his head is tipped a rather pure white. He washes it almost twice a day to keep his hair perfect. Moving down, he usually wears a black or a white button up shirt with the neck button undone and the sleeves rolled up. His stomach is finely toned from his years of conditioning for wrestling and tae kwon do. On his left wrist is a rather small tattoo, consisting of an eastern style dragon running down to the middle of the underside of his forearm. He wears a ring on his middle finger with his birthstone, a garnet for January, on it. Sean wears either white or black cargo jeans, or black acid washed or faded jeans. Sometimes he'll wear a just a black T-shirt and a white pair of slacks. His shoes are pure white running shoes. Around his neck, Sean wears a dog collar and dog tags that no one else has ever read.

[B]Personality.:[/B] Sean is a very laid back young man. He doesn't really care about anything but his artistry job and his musical career. It seems like he doesn't have anyone or anything special in his life. He writes about the easy things in life that often lead to the most stressful situations, or occasionally, a great war epic turned rock song. He focuses mostly on Chinese and American culture when writing. He is quick to help people, but not so quick to let someone help him. Sean feels like he has to carry the weight of the world on his shoulders alone, and get rid of those that would try and hurt those that were only trying to be good and helpful.

[B]How he aquired the Death Note.:[/B] Sean picked it up along with his poetry and song notebook in the local library.

[B]Other Information.:[/B] Sean owns a guitar signed by AFI, and has thirty seven notebooks filled with ideas and random songs. He owns a laptop and an LG White Chocolate phone. Sean also does art commissions for various people, and that is his main source of income. However, he could pick up a job at any time if he'd like. People used to pick on him for his strange black and white style, but Sean fights the urge to pick them off every time they bring it up.

[B]Name and Title of Shingami.:[/B] Zaijian, the Masked Warrior.
[B]Appearance.:[/B] Zaijian is covered head to toe in armor laquered a soulful red made of bone and sinew. His face mask seems to be a light white with two single red lines running down underneath each eyehole. His eyes are a glowing emerald green, and his true appearance isn't known. Zaijian's armor looks rather eastern in appearance, similar to samurai. Two large wings made entirely of bones and rotting flesh hang on his back, and they flap for asthetics whenever he flies or floats. The mask he wears is twisted into a deep and evil grin, and he has a deep and somewhat raspy voice.
