The13thMan
What on earth should i get my girlfriend for christmas!? Agh! I don't know what to do!! I pretty much never had a gf around christmas time before. I rarely ever get anybody gifts and i...i just don't know. So i figured i'd ask all you savvy fellows. What have you gotten for your significant others? What did you get for them this year? If you're a girl what do you want from you guy and vice versa? Ok well...i don't really want anything in particular from my girlfriend except to spend time with her. I go to college about 3 hours away and we don't often get to see each other. This christmas break i have nearly a month off, and i just want to be with her for most of it. But past that, i suppose she could get me something for my guitar. ^L^ Nothing too expensive though. Ah, and of course, she could always get me something like sexy lingre. Haha, but that's just a joke...for now. o_o (hopefully she doesn't read this, as she knows i go to this message board(oh and so you know, she'd be the one wearing it)). Anything she gets me would be great though, cuz it'll be from her and it'll remind me of her, whatever it is.
John
This same type of buzzkill post seems to come up in pretty much every advice thread, but I think it's worthwhile, so here it is: Say someone here (probably me, because, I mean, come on people.) gives you an amazing gift idea, and you go for it, and your girlfriend swoons as soon as it's presented to her. When she asks you where you got the notion for such a marvelous symbol of affection, you say, "Some guy on the internet suggested it." Not very smooth, eh? I know that you plan to put all your own affection into the gift, no matter where you get the idea, but I think that, looking back on it in later times, you'll appreciate the memory more if it was all of your own design. Just food for thought.
DeadSeraphim
CDs, bro. You can't go wrong with music. You haven't been involved with each other for a year yet, so don't overthink it just yet. Wait until you're into year two of the rel. at least before pulling off the grand amazing gifts.
G/S/B Master
You could get her clothes from brands like Abercrombie/Hollister or something.

Do you know any of her friends you could ask? Or how about her parents? They could at least tell you what she likes.
Rachmaninoff
When I?ve actually had a girlfriend, I?ve always tried to find out what she likes and then give her something along that nature. Asking friends or family is definitely one way you can find out. Or the next time you are at her house, take a look at what she has to see what type of music or shows she likes. If you see that say she has several volumes to a show she likes and not the rest you could get her the next one. If that?s not an option, try to get something you think she would like. I?ve often given simple gifts of jewelry since you can get some fairly decent sterling silver necklaces and bracelets for a good price. I've even gotten a little teddy bear and attached the present around it's neck to give it to her. And so far every girl I?ve ever given it to has liked it, some of them still have the little teddy bear even though we no longer date.
Boo
Make a too big fuzzy sweater or something for her so you don't seem too skilled at knitting sweaters, but you still went through the effort to try. And buy her mother chocolate. No idea if it works, but please tell me what the result was if you intend to try it out.
Japan
For me, what one of my guy friends got me a Kare Kano volume 18 because he knows I've been working on the series since it first came to the states and that I have all but the very last one. What I usually gave friends in high school were drawings of their favorite anime and or video game characters. If you are good at drawing, perhaps do something along those lines plus a gift. As it has been said before, keep an eye out for what she likes and does not like as well as keep an eye out for what she already has. Then go from there.

It will be a hundred times better than the boyfriend who because they didn't know what to get or because you haven't dated for long, ended up getting nothing. Which is pretty awkward when you've gotten something for them.
Hanabishi Recca
You know what, its the thought that counts right? You know her more than any of us savvys on here. So, maybe you should tell us what she likes, or at least think about it, then you have your answer. All of the thoughts above are good, clothes, music, ect. Just get her something and she will like it. Even it she doesn't, she will pretend she does. Just try to think of something and get her it. Maybe a penguin stuffed animal, or something. *Ponders* I've never known a girl that doesn't like penguins (I've asked a couple too). Thanks for your time, Dae

NashvilleDream
I'd go for something with sentimental value. They mean more. Well, to me at least.
Raiyuu
You can't give something that already has sentimental value. Things gain sentimental value through time and attachment. Several small gifts work well. That way you're not risking everything on a single choice. A little box of chocolates - some earrings - beanie toys are often a good bet if you want to show you have a cute, sensitive side. Plus, that way, you can keep slipping her gifts throughout Christmas.

Delta
And buy her mother chocolate.
Indeed. Give her mom the best available; one should never forget how easily parents can make or break a relationship.
What have you gotten for your significant others? What did you get for them this year? If you're a girl what do you want from you guy and vice versa?[/FONT']
1) Nothing. 2) Nothing. 3) What I don't want: clothes (I never trust my shopping to anybody), chocolates (got too many boxes in our fridge anyway), CDs (I never listen to them), books (never was a bookworm), stuffed toys (they will go straight to donation drives), jewelry (trust, shopping, etc). I strongly suggest you get her something she could use. Mace, for example. Or, failing to get that, trash my suggestion and bring her to the spa for a whole day of pampering. A merry Christmas indeed!
NashvilleDream
It depends on the kind of girl she is. I mean, I don't like Jewlery much, and I'm not much one for clothes But I love books and games and stuffed animals. (Yes, I'm 17 and still like stuffed animals) I quite like Delta's suggestion of Mace. I would probably find that hysterically amusing. You could always find something she loves but doesn't have For example, my best friend totally loves the game Uno, but doewn't own it, so I'm getting him Uno for Christmas. Rachmaninoff
And buy her mother chocolate.
A nice little bouquet of mixed flowers for her mom to put in a vase works just as good as chocolates. ;) I've done that in the past and it always went over well. Sometimes I?ve done that in addition to a nice little box of chocolates.
