Okay, so a few hours ago I went and got my first tattoo done. It's a "Jesus Fish" [or "ichthus"] a few inches to the right of my left hip bone. Naturally, I have been thinking about it for years, and now that I finally have it done, I am curious to know if anybody else on the Boards has one? Here are my questions [& answers]:

1. Do you have a tattoo? How many? If not, do you want one?
Yes, obviously. Just the 1.

2. What is it of and where? [Or what do you want to have?]
Ichthus - left hipbone.

3. Do you regret having one? Have there been any negative affects of it?
N/A

4. Does it/Would it have any special meaning to you?
It represents my relationship with Jesus Christ. Since a tattoo can not be changed, I wanted it to be something that I KNOW will never change -- my faith.

I can't get a tattoo till I turn 18, but tattoos are a huge thing in my family, so the date's already been booked, and the money put aside. I'm either getting a celtic cross on my arm, with all the huge knotwork and ****, or a batman symbol on the back of my neck (for obvious reasons, really). There is not one over 18 person in my family without huge, complex (and expensive) tattoos, and I'm not putting my name down to be the first.

I can't have a tattoo since I'm not 18, but I'm not really sure if I want one or not. I have mixed feelings on the idea of putting something in my skin that will be there for the rest of my life. When I look at pictures of other peoples' tattoos, though, I get excited and think I do want one.

If I ever got one, though, I think it would probably be something AFI-related in an obscure place, like some lyrics or artwork on my back. I'm not very original when it comes to designs, I guess.

I plan on going into acting as a career, though, so I'm not sure if ever getting a tattoo would be a good idea.

I've thought about getting a tattoo for the last few years. I'm allowed to have one but I don't want to rush into it and end up getting something stupid that I would regret doing in the next month.

If I do end up getting one, I want a band of thorns going around my upper arm, the word "sex," and/or a design on my lower back that I don't know of yet. The band because I'm religious and like Christ had a crown of thorns, I want to have something to symbolize that. "Sex" is somewhat confusing even to me. It's a very strong word and I find it appealing. It's tempting and enticing and when written with the right design, it's attractive. It wouldn't have anything to do with myself. And finally the design on my lower back would be to show my personality. I want it to be something that reflects me somewhat. Not just a mark for people to see.

That's pretty much it. Reason why I'm thinking about it so much.

1. Do you have a tattoo? How many? If not, do you want one?
That would be a resounding no. And I don't really want one either. They look okay I guess, I've just never wanted one for myself.

2. What is it of and where? [Or what do you want to have?]
Since I don't have one and don't want one either, I'd have to say this question doesn't apply to me.

3. Do you regret having one? Have there been any negative affects of it?
Can't regret what you haven't done. ;) Where I live there's a social stigma against tattoos so if I had one I'd probably get looked down on by a number of the people living here. I personally don't care of someone has one, but others seem to think only druggies or losers have tattoos. I don't agree with them, but it is a common attitude to see around here.

4. Does it/Would it have any special meaning to you?
No not really, tattoos are limited in how permanent they are. Part of why they don't appeal to me. There's no design I feel the need to see on my skin every single day of my life. Not like clothing that when you tire of a design or look you can change easily.

1. Do you have a tattoo? How many? If not, do you want one?

- Yes, I have a tattoo. I only have one though.

2. What is it of and where? [Or what do you want to have?]

- Oh boy *Rekindles memories from Military* The tattoo I have is a heart on my right shoulder blade. *Takes deep breath* ...On the heart, I have the name 'Casanova', only it's spelled with two [z]'s instead of one [s].

3. Do you regret having one? Have there been any negative affects of it?

- Honestly, yes and no. Yes because now that i'm married, I don't like to have 'The Great Lover' upon my flesh if ya catch my drift. No, however, because whenever I look at my tat from a mirror, I think of all my great times in Virginia, where I first got the tattoo; I [truly] felt like Casanova there because of my current status with women then [which I won't go into.].

4. Does it/Would it have any special meaning to you?

- You've problably read #3 already but i'll reinerate - My tattoo reminds me that I wasn't a [so-called] geek in Virginia; I figured out [for the first time via other women's lips] that I was actually good-looking and a cool guy to boot.
