2010DigitalBoy
Okay, everyone knows rock basically emerged from blues, but blues has sort of flittered out of existence on the mainstage of music. Some bands, though, seem to be incorporating a lot of blues elements into their rock-ness to more and less extents. The most notable injection of blues into rock is probably TV on the Radio who slide a highly vocal blues-style over melodic rock undertones and create a nifty little groove. A lot of their stuff is tinged with dark or gloomy atmosphere but I still want to describe their style as fun. They're a great example of beauty through simplicity (please note, though, that I have not heard more than 7 songs by this band, so bear with me if I'm mistaken). The tracks Wolf Like Me and Staring At The Sun are both very catchy and have stuck with me all day. I can't easily describe the style of Pearls And Brass, my second example of bluesy rock (but I'm sure I've given multiple descriptions in previous threads where I spoke of this band's awesomeness. Somewhere between fun and memorable riffs, blues-bass and dragged out vocals, and the deep-underground feel of Pearls And Brass is one hell of a good band of three. The best showcasing of their blues nature comes through in tracks such as Black Rock Man (also my Xbox Live gamertag) and Beneath The Earth.
