I was sitting on the beach, my feet in the water. The sand from the waves ran between my toes. I normally did this when something was wrong.
I was waiting for someone. I heard a person behind me.?Sora, you can?t sneak up on me. You of all people know that.? I teased. I didn?t even bother to turn around. All of a sudden, my eyes were covered with hands. ?Guess again!? A male?s voice laughed. I struggled to get the hands off my eyes.?Oh Riku. C?mon let me go.? I whined, and the boy let go. I stood up to make sure it was Riku. ?You got me?? Riku said with a shrug, and then smiled. ?Yep. I got you.? I giggled. ?Have you seen Sora around?? I waswaiting for Sora to give me a ?special something?. ?Maybe I should go to his house really quick-? ?No. You don?t have to. Sora is coming.? Riku interrupted. Today was my birthday, and so far, nobody said anything to me, not even my parents. I went from a smile, then to a disappointed look. ?Hey. You okay?? Riku asked. ?Oh yeah, I?m fine.?I said. I sat back down and put my feet in the water, putting my hands to my side for support. ?You sure? You always do that when something?s wrong.? Riku said, his voice sounding worried. ?I?m positive.? I said, looking away from Riku as he sat down next to me. I looked at the bright blue waters. ?Happy Birthday.? Riku said.I looked at him. His teal eyes looked at me reassuringly. His silver hair was blowing behind him in the wind. ?Thanks you?re the first one to say that to me. Not even my-? I immediately stopped talking at the thought of my parents. ?Oh no! I forgot to do my chores!? I stood up and slipped on my sandals. ?Yes I know chores on my Birthday? I thought. I ran to the dock nearby. ?Bye Riku!? I waved to him. I got in the boat and started rowing to the other island. As my boat reached the island, I noticed someone running to me. It was Sora. His brown spiked hair bounced on each step. ?Sora, where have you been?? I said getting out of my boat, then putting my hands on my hips, acting as if I was mad, even though I weren?t. ?Oh, I?m sorry. Happy Birthday.? Sora said a few steps from her face. He leaned over and took a few deep breaths. Sora and I have been friends since we were 6. Today I turned 14, and we still remain friends. ?I?m really sorry Sora. I really need to go.? I said, stepping aside and then passed him. ?I?ll be at my house okay?? Sora yelled after me and smiled. I ran up into the town. My town. A small quiet town, where nothing much happens. There are no cars, no big buildings, except for one, a mansion, where the mayor lives. Anyways, Destiny Islands was just how I wanted it to be.I continued on my way home. I walked up the sandy path and up to the door. I peered into the window to make sure my parents weren?t home. When the coast was clear, I opened the door and walked in. I noticed that the house was clean. The dishes were done and put away, the floor was swept, and everything was tidied up. ?What the...? I stood in the doorway in shock. Who would?ve done it. Sora. He must?ve. Or Kairi.mKairi. A friend. A best friend. Kairi and I shared everything together. We also did everything together. I walked out of my house and onto the street. There was no one walking. I started walking slowly towards Sora?s house, knowing that?s where he is. I turned on the corner. Straight ahead was Sora?s house. I walked up the path and up to his door. I knocked and waited a few seconds before his mom opened the door.?Hello! Holly!? Sora?s mom said, looking puzzled. ?Hey is Sora around?? I asked. I looked in the house, it was messy, that?s why I thought Kairi might?ve cleaned my house. But I can always count on Sora when I need him. ?Hold on, just wait on the couch.? Sora?s mom said motioning the couch to my left. Sora then came in from the back door, being secretive about it.?Umm Sora?? I asked he ran up and put his finger on my lips telling me to be quiet. I was quiet. He put out his hand as an offer and I took it. He led me out of the house to the backyard. Out of nowhere people jumped out at me. ?Happy Birthday!? They all yelled. Kairi and Riku came to the front of the crowd of people and gave me a hug. I was so happy that people didn?t forget. It was a surprise. Then things started to go downhill from here...
