Jaden stumbled into the room with Karen right on his heels.

"We might have made it here faster if you didn't want to find your way here, BLIND!" said Karen in a perturbed voice. "Lets sit you down here on the couch she said grabbing his arm and dragging him over to a old dusty couch. "WOW, looking at you know, you look pretty messed up,"

"Thanks," Jaden replied sarcastically.

"I'm just saying whatever that guy did to you it must have really hurt,"

"Well, a kick to the face isnt exactly the most pleasurable sensation,"

"Well lemme see if i can fix your lip, dont move," Karen placed her hand over his mouth and closed her eyes, a burning sensation came from Jaden's lips. She removed her hand and all of the bruises were gone and the gash his lip was closed up. Jaden felt his face and then smiled in the direction he though she was sitting.

"You finally mastered the healing edge,"

"I wouldn't say mastered but hey," she grabbed his face and turned it toward hers and kissed his cheek. "You haven't asked me why I am here yet,"

"Well I assumed it was for a good reason,"

"If you call following you a good reason, then yes, it was,"

"I'd be mad if you didn't..." Jaden fell to the floor gripping his eyes in pain. the cataracts where disappearing, it was a horrible pain like someone was burning them off with a lighter. He started to yell. "SON OF A BITCH!" He started to writhe in the floor as they dissolved.

"Stay still, it will stop soon," Karen said crouching beside him. Jaden opened his eyes not only blinded by the light but astonished at what he saw. Apparently Zak had lost his focus on Jaden, he killed some men, not very far from where they were now.

"I have to go, NOW!," bust out Jaden jumping to his feet and grabbing his gun and katana.

"Where? Why? WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED!?"

"I know where he is, and I'm not letting him get away,"

"I'm going with you, and I wont take no for an answer,'

"On one condition, when I catch up with him and it starts to look bad, I want you to run, I don't care if you think you can help, I don't want you coming back,"

"But if i can," She was cut off as Jaden grabbed her and kissed her.

"I have never said this to you but I love you, and i dont want another innocent death on my hands, now lets go," and with that Jaden ran out of the apartment, Karen followed a little stunned at this.

Zak sensed something and saw that Forlorn was nodding off after all. He whispered "I'll be back." and he walked out of the room. He strolled onto the street looking for the origin of his distress and found it. Jaden, and some human girl was with him now. Zak had no idea of the human girl's armaments or powers so he thought she was easily dismissible. Zak stared angrily at the oncoming slayers and saw fear on both of their faces. Instantly he remembered the scene where Jaden had taken Forlorn hostage, then decided to repay the favour. "What do you want humans?!" he called down the street. Jaden started to explain he was the shade but Karen already knew.

"I guess you wanted a little more than last time right?" Zak continued, making Karen and Jaden's blood run cold. Karen was filled with hate at the thought that this man hurt her dear Jaden so much, and had the nerve to mock them. Karen took Jadens handgun from his hand and shot at Zak in fury. "Karen no!!" Jaden exclaimed ,but by then Karen had already fired several shots into Zak's skull. Zak faded into sooty smoke and vanished into nothingness. Then Karen asked "Why?? I thought shades were tough but it looks like I already killed him." Jaden took his gun back and reloaded it. Then the pistol dropped to the ground at the sound of a scream.

It was Karen. Zak had reappeared behind her and slashed a large gash across her back from right shoulder to left hip. She then collapsed in pain, and Zak faded again.
"We're not ready for this." Jaden said to himself. "No, you certainly are not!" added Zak now walking slowly towards them from about ten feet away. Zak's hand rose slowly and he smirked coldly. "NO!" screamed Jaden knowing what could follow. He picked up Karen who was now bleeding heavily and ran around a corner. "Vindr knífr!" exclaimed Zak as Jaden turned the edge of another building. The corner of the wall nearest him then blew apart as if slashed by an axe the size of Zak himself.

Jaden carried Karen for a little longer, until he thought he lost Zak. Then he stopped and knelt next to Karen who was covered in blood and screaming in pain. He began healing her and half way threw, heard sinister laughter from all around. He was scared for his life but more afraid for Karen's. Going head to head with a shade was definitely a bad idea.

Jaden watched around, the laughing seemed to come from inside his head, Jaden could barely think but he continued healing out of sheer terror, he had stopped her bleeding. Se had passed out but at least she was stable.

Laughter came from behind him, he turned to see Zak standing there, almost taunting him with his presence. Jaden rose to his feet, no longer scared for his life, his intentions were to distract him from Karen, maybe lead him away. Jaden drew his sword. Zak started walking towards him, his sword also draw. Zak made the first move making a downward swipe with his sword. Jaden blocked this strike but the weight of the sword was greater than he imagined. Jaden managed to push Zak's sword off his own and make a diagonal swipe to his chest. Zak once again disappeared.

"This fight is pointless if in cannot land a strike on him." Jaden thought to himself. Just then a sound came from behind Jaden. He had just enough time to back flip over Zak before his sword slammed into the wall almost crumbling it. landing and almost losing his balance. Jaden charged and stabbed Zak in the back. Once again he disappeared. Jaden was disoriented and tired, not only did it take some energy healing Karen, along with parrying that blow sapped him of a lot of energy, but he had not fully regained his strength form his first battle.

Jaden didn't know how long he could keep up this fight. Zak finally appeared right in front of Jaden, He raised his sword for a final blow that Jaden knew he couldn't block or dodge. Then Jaden saw his salvation. His right breast was exposed, Jaden took his katana and plunged it into his chest. Zak hesitated and then dropped his sword. He looked down at the slayer. Then made a menacing smirk.

"Just a little too much to the left," he said in a low tone. All energy left Jaden as he made this strike. He collapsed against Zak. Zak the picked Jaden up by his neck then removed the sword from his chest. He looked at Jaden with disgust and ran the blade through Jaden's left shoulder. Jaden regained consciousness just long enough to let out a moan of pain. Zak then left the blade in and threw Jaden over his shoulder, he also picked up Karen who was also unconscious.

He carried them through the alleys until he reached the inn. He kicked in the door which scared Forlorn and made her jump. He them threw both slayers on the ground. Jaden opened his eyes to meet them with Forlorn's across the room. She saw an emotion she did not expect, not fear for his life but fear for the others. Jaden rolled his head to see Karen's face next to his, she was still breathing, but he didn't know how much longer that would be, a tear came to his eye. He them passed out again.

Jaden awoke again in the same spot. He stayed with his eyes closed for a while and listened to a conversation between The dog an Zak.

"Don't kill him." She said, His expression still on her mind.

"What should we do then?" Zak asked in an annoyed tone.

"Either kill them together so that they may live together in the after life or set them free." She said.

"Why Zak said looking at her eyes witch told him she was in deep thought.

"Because they are loved. They love eachother. Nothing loved deserves to die or have what their loved ones ripped away from them."

"He tried to kill you!!" Zak was starting to raise his voice.

"But I am not loved. I was, when I was a pup but that is gone. They are gone. I don't have a reason to live. Nothing loves me. Nothing wants me." Her tone was melancholy, noble and pained. Her pain this time though made Zak feel horrible. Zak looked down and then back up at her. Tears started to form in her eyes. Zak walked towards her and wrapped his arms around her. She was a little shocked but allowed his actions. She Reached up and pulled her arms around him and rested her head against his chest. They held eachother for a long time.

Jaden's eyes were half open and he saw what they were doing. He knew from experiance that Zak loved the Demon. She seemed fond of him to but by the words she said to him, She didn't know that she was loved.

Jaden sat up replaying the conversation in his head. Forlorn and Zak slid away from eachother and watched his movement. He stood and bent down by his Karen. He looked up to forlorn tryng to figure the strange being out.

"Take her and leave my sight." The demon said.

Jaden did as he was told. He left to find a hospital, leaveing Zak and Forlorn alone.

They looked at eachother for a while. No words just silence.

Jaden carried Karen down the stairs of the inn, ignoring the pain of the sword in his shoulder. He made it to the lobby until he collapsed, he looked around and saw no one. "Figures nobodies around when you need um'," he thought to himself. He leaned against a wall witch pushed the blade somewhat out of him. He winced in pain. He looked at Karen, still unconscious laying on his chest.. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a silver cigarette case and pulled out a black hand-rolled cigarette. He placed it in his mouth and snapped his fingers. His thumb ignited into a small flame. He lit the cigarette and snapped is fingers again pulling out the flame. Then he waited, he didn't know for what but he waited.

Karen blinked, her back burned a little. Shee felt it and it was almost healed, it was scabbed over. She looked up and saw Jaden's face, He was staring off into space smoking a cigarette, she then saw the light from the ember shine off something in his shoulder, it was his own sword, still deep into his shoulder. She pushed off the ground and sat on her knees. Jaden turned to see she was conscious. All he could do was smile, no words came out, he couldn't say anything, so she said it for him.

"Would you like me to take that out of you?" she said pointing to his shoulder.

"I'm starting to like it, it makes me look like a bad ass," He said trying to make her smile.

"Riiiiight, well you might need this," she said rigging off a piece of his shirt.

"What is this for?"

"You might want to bite down on this because this is going to hurt," She placed the cloth in his mouth and placed a hand on his shoulder and on the handle of the sword. She looked at him and he nodded, she pulled it out hard and fast. He grunted."That wasn't so bad now was it?" She removed the cloth from his mouth.

"Depends on what you mean by bad, can you fix it?"

"No, there is some bone damage and I can't even start healing this or it will be sealed up and they would have to cut you open again," Karen then ran over to the counter and picked up the phone calling 911. The ambulance arrived and took them away. The entire ride Karen held Jaden's hand even though The paramedics were telling her to lie down too, telling her she wasn't in the best of shape. They took Jaden to surgery, they fixed him up and treated Karen for shock telling both of them they needed to stay in the hospital for a day or two at least.

Zak looked at Forlorn, staring at her body yet again. Then he spotted a break in the perfect symmetry of her form. It was in the form of a cut on her arm. Jaden made a pretty nasty gash in there little fight. The cut was worse than it felt, blood had already run down Forlorn's arm and it was dripping from her fingertips. The events made her forget all about it. "Shall I fix that then?" asked Zak "Fix what?!" Forlorn replied looking over herself for dirt or bruises. Only after 4 minutes did she realise her arm had blood all over it. "Oh god!, when did that happen?!" She asked herself. "You got it from Jaden during your little quarrel. Let me take a look.?

Zak held his hand out for hers and after little hesitation she took it. He pulled gently at her arm tugging the cut closer to him. Forlorn winced a but and Zak grinned. "Forget it!" Forlorn protested, mocked by Zak's adoration of her pain. "Nonsense." was Zak's simple answer. he held out his opposite arm, hand held just off the cut. "Waíse heill." he whispered. Soon a light shown from his palm and her arm healed. She wasn't even considering her arm. She just blushed a bit because he cared and they were holding hands. Zak was pleased with his work and removed his hand, revealing a fully healed arm. Forlorn was also happy.

Zak finished by kissing where the cut had just been and muttering "Good as new." Forlorn and Zak then sat in silence once more, Zak broke it once more with "I'm...going out. I'll be back later. You should relax and get some more rest. I'm sorry your rest was interrupted." He walked out of the room and down to the lobby. Noticing some blood around from Jaden he smirked. As he was walking on the road He saw a vampire running after a human girl. Merely 16 she was. "It won't hurt too much." said the vampire. The girl just screamed. Zak grumbled and drew his sword. Bored out of his mind he decided he may as well help. The girl just got cornered. "you'll be fine, a perfectly healthy vampire like me!" said the vampire to the crying cornered girl.

A strange whistle rang threw out the air, soon the girl and the vamp. knew it's source. A long sword, Zak's long sword, twisting threw the air like a Frisbee. A horrid sound echoed threw the street as the sword tore threw the vampire's dead flesh. Ripping it's upper half right off. The human girl screamed again, and Zak moaned in annoyance. Forlorn had disobeyed Zak and followed him. Just as he saved the girl Forlorn smiled and thought "so there is some kindness in there." She was just about to leave as Zak made her sick. The girl was screaming and crying looking at the corpse of the vamp. "Quiet!" said Zak loudly. "I have a head-ache...I was stabbed earlier and that always puts me off."

The girl screamed some more and called for help. "Stop right now! Or I'll kill you too."...The girl didn't stop, and Forlorns heart sank. "No...you should stop...please stop..." whispered Forlorn towards the girl. The girl heard it in her head and screamed louder at the mysterious voice. "I did warm you." said Zak pulling his sword from the vamp. He extended his hand to the girl's neck and repeated. "BE QUIET!" this time screaming. The girl screamed more and cried harder. Forlorn sensed power raising in Zak, he was about to use magic. "OH MY GOD!!! WHAT"S GOING ON!?!" screamed the girl. And Forlorn replied silently. "Oh god no..."

The next words uttered were "Letta vindr" from Zak. The girl stopped screaming, but cried all the harder. "Now you know not to anger a shade." Zak said angrily. The girl tried to gasp but couldn't, she could make no noise, and couldn't breathe. From a safe distance Forlorn cried herself at Zak's heartlessness and questioned if a cold creature like him could be in love. The girl struggled for a few minutes then fell to the ground, under Zak's hand her eyes closed and she died. Meanwhile Forlorn, tears in her eyes, ran back to the inn as fast as her canine legs could carry her. Zak simply walked long the road casually as if nothing had happened.

Forlorn made it back ten minutes before the shade. It was enough time to question his intentions. "What does he really want from me? Or better question; What does he really want to DO to me?" She figured it was best just to ask, bluntly. She would have her scythe near in case he advanced in attack.

She was sitting on the bed when Zak walked in. Zak stared at herand came across a strange expression on her face. He sat by her and looked in her eyes. What was it he saw? Disbeleif? Curiousity? Rage? Disapointment? Concern? Sorrow? He saw all of those in her right now. He tilted his head.

"What is it that bothers you so?" He asked.

"What are your intentions with me?"Tears formed in her eyes, the images of what he did replaying inn her head.

Zak thought for a moment then said "You amuse me. You make me feel things I normally don't. And I...like it" The shade seemed distressed and at a lack for words. Forlorn seemed unpleased. "Are you going to kill me too?" she asked coldly. "When I'm no longer 'fun' are you just going to slaughter me?!" Zak was confused for a second then he remembered his actions. "I told her to stop.." Zak said defensively "You killed her!" Forlorn exclaimed. "Please don't." Zak replied. Forlorn stopped speaking. She was afraid he'd kill her too for not stopping. Zak looked around and got depressed. "I must go!" He screamed. "No explain what the hell's wrong with you!" protested Forlorn.

Zak reached toward the wall and screamed. "Ramr jierda!" in an instant the wall itself was gone. Forlorn screamed and Zak dashed out the gap. He was fast, much to fast for even forlorn to catch. He ran threw the streets like a field. Dashing as if there weren't buildings or people around him at all. Soon enough though he saw a crowd in front of him. He reached to his long sword and drew it quickly. As he ran he must have killed at least 40 innocents. Forlorn followed him as best she could but wasn't gaining at all. He was screaming in rage as he ran, dozens of vampire slayers now chasing him. Alas none could even keep pace with Forlorn, so Zak was long gone.

Zak eventually made it to a hospital, he ran almost vertically up the wall, jumping every now and then. He got to a fairly high window and entered. The first person he saw was a nurse, he cut her in two and traversed the halls with great speed. The next person was a girl. It was Karen of all people. Walking back to Jaden with some food. "You?! what?!" she yelled and dropped the food. Zak's eyes were blood red and he was snarling. After raising his hand he screamed. "Eka ethgri haina frá du sundavar!" Karen dove to the side and Jaden came from his room after hearing her yells. Three large spikes formed solidly from the shadows around Zak. The spikes narrowly missed Karen and Jaden dodged one with just a small cut from another.

Zak seemed to wield the spikes by moving his hand, they were hard to predict, as they would dissipate to normal shadows randomly then reform seconds later. Jaden tried but it was nigh impossible to get close to Zak. Jaden barely managed to get to Karen to protect her. He had a rough ordeal fending off the shade's spikes, and he didn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon, this was the reason humans, vampires and demons alike, all feared ever encountering a shade. And these poor slayers got one of the worst. "DO NOT TRY TO DEFEAT ME!" cried Zak. "FOR I AM ZAKASPHIRMED! SHADE OF SHOCK!!" the horrid wail tore threw the hospital and drove almost everyone to evacuation. Only Jaden, Karen, some other slayers, and Forlorn who had just entered, remained in the building.

Everyone stayed still except for Forlorn. She crouched and jumped at Zak, dodgeing and bouncing off the shadow spikes. Her animal instinct (And woman's intuition) guided her through the chaos.

She reached Zak znd toppled him over. Forlorn had him pinned to the ground. She looked into Zaks eyes, His cold, blood red eyes. She began to cry . He pushed her off and grabbed her, flinging her across the hall. She Lied there for a couple seconds waiting for the pain to cease but Zak picked her up by the neck before her agony could fade. Her drew his sword and slowly, smiling at her agony, painfully, Peirced her with his blade. She screamed and cried.

The words "Your the REAL monster!!!" Rang through his mind.

"But I really love you." Rolled from her lips. her melancholy eyes widened. She coughed up blood. The blade was ripped from her stomach. She fell on Zakasphirmed. She kissed him. It was a long, open-mouth kiss, and Spoke again after that.

"I'm glad I'm dieing in your arms." She blacked out.

Zak was brought back by the kiss, being a shade he has evil spirits dwelling within him. Every once in a while, when Zak has too much pressure on him or is overwhelmed with stress or pain, the spirits will take over completely. This is what he calls a 'dark moment'. During dark moments he becomes the most evil kind of being imaginable. He hates and kills all, and can't control any of his actions. The love he felt for Forlorn was real, it was the real Zak fighting to the surface. And as assumed, the girl he killed was a victim of the darker side, covered in pain and wracked by her screams, the spirits took over.

Then Forlorn confrontation pushed him away into the depths of his mind even father, allowing the spirits to have more power over him for a longer period. Zak now had come back to normal, making his love for forlorn come threw the darkness. The spikes vanished and he was crying. Yes Zak, was actually crying. "Help me!" he screamed at Jaden. Jaden was hesitant and the slayers behind him began firing on Zak. "No don't!" exclaimed Jaden, but Zak was in no danger. During times of his own emotional power he had complete control of the beasts within him and could use powerful spells as they could when in control.

"Letta!" the single word, it meant 'stop' that's all. Every bullet that got within a foot of Zak or Jaden froze suddenly in there flight. Zak stared at Jaden with teary eyes. "I forged my blade with magic, my magic, it's the sword of a shade. And unless you help me I won't be able to save her!" Jaden ran over and knelt beside Zak, as did Karen. Zak laid Forlorn down on the ground and held both hands over her wound. Then he began to speak "Atra eka letta onr freohr un heill onr hjarta!" Zak's words were the sound embodiment of the purest silk. He said 'let me stop your death and heal your heart' Then both Jaden and Karen preformed their healing edge on Forlorn. Zak hoped with all his heart, that it would be enough to save her.

The wound healed from the inside out. After the healing it took her some time to awaken. She shot bolt upright gasping for breath. Zak imediatly Helped her to her feet. Forlorn felt wobbly on her legs and collapsed into Zaks arms. He held her tight and looked at her. She put her arms around him. He kissed her and she kissed back.

Jaden watched, half-disgusted and half-enchanted by their passion. Karen glowed. She was happy for them at this moment. Love to her was beautiful no matter who the victim of cupids arrows were.

After the kiss they held eachother for a while. Many of the Slayers had fled. The rest stared in amazment and wonder. Not many poeple saw demons or shades as the type to love(or regret or to have any moral emotions at all).

Forlorn kept a melancholy visage but was beaming inside. Zak saw it. He kissed her forehead and looked around.

Jaden turned to Karen and smiled, she gabbed him and kissed him.

"What was that for?" asked Jaden with a even bigger smile this time.

"Well everyone was doing it," she replied as she pulled him closer to her.

Both couples kiss for a moment until a noise made Jaden grab Karen and throw her to the floor and fall on top of her.

"Don't you think its a little early in our relationship for us to do this," she said sarcastically. Then she saw why they fell, three bolts from a crossbow were in the wall that was behind them.

"You are now expelled from the Guild of The Pure for the aiding of the unholy and impure," Called a voice from behind them. They turned to see a man in a brown trench coat and a crossbow. He was an older man and such a senior member, and had the authority to expel and thus kill someone who has broken the code. Jaden jumped to his feet and faced the man. "You are now either to be eliminated or taken to Rome to stand before..."

"DON'T RECITE THE CODE TO ME!" Yelled Jaden in anger, "The code has been my life since my brother was killed,"

"I will ask you to step back," said the man bringing the crossbow up to Jaden's bare chest.

"Go to hell," Jaden said in a low angry voice, he than spat on the mans face. "I will not be arrested and I will not got to Rome,"

"Fine have it your way," the man said stepping back. He aimed the crossbow at Jaden. "I bid you farewell,"

"RAMR JIERDA" cried Zak. The man when flying though the wall. Jaden looked at Zak stunned as Karen stood up and hugged Jaden around the waist tears in her eyes both of them fixated on Zak. "We are even now." Zak said in a stoic tone.

Zak stood and grinned at Forlorn and the kissed his cheek. Zak looked at the remaining slayers aiming at the group. "I think we have a little bit of a problem here." Said Zak bluntly. "Yah think?!" exclaimed Jaden. Karen tugged slightly on his hand and kissed his neck. He relaxed and apologized before looking to Zak again.

"Well you have any ideas?" he asked the shade. "Not this second. but I believe there are some places that will take in a group like ours. "Oh so we're a group now?!" asked Forlorn. "Well, yes. we should stay together to keep us on guard from all directions as much as possible. Jaden looked to Karen and nodded, gesturing she should trust Zak and Forlorn.

Forlorn was a little scary, but the things she's seen Zak doing has made her much more afraid of him. And the events moments ago haven't changed her view of him for the better. She held tightly onto Jadens arm and he sensed her fear. Then Zak and Forlorn huddled together, not exactly trusting the slayers either. Zak looked to forlorn and Jaden to Karen, then at each other. No one had any ideas and the hospital was going to be swarming with slayers any second.

Forlorn stood next to zak and seemed to freze focusinng her energy. A couple slayers began screaming in fear and fireing off their guns at there teammates and eachother. Some other that were left behind looked at eachother. They droped their guns and ran from the hall.

However,They returned with more men and more powerful weopendry. Forlorn grabbed a few scalpals she found on the ground and held them in a position to throw them. She felt to defensless without something sharp in her hands.

Zak hurled several backward sparing some time. Jaden and Karen looked around for anything that could be used as a weopen. Forlorn killed three more men and a women with her scalpels. Really, all of them felt doomed and were now struggleing to find an escape route or a decent plan. Right now all they could do was stall.

Zak looked to a solid wall next to him and said "There's an exit!" Jaden and Karen then looked at Forlorn to see it was a mind trick of hers, but nothing. Then all looked to Zak for an explanation. He simply faded into smoke and vanished. "What where did your guy go!" Screamed Karen, thinking Zak had deserted them. "I-I don't know." Forlorn replied defensively. Then an explosion came from the other side of the wall, and a fresh group of slayers ran in. Zak hadn't reappeared by then so the others fought off the slayers as best they could.

Then Zak formed behind the slayers, sword drawn. He slashed a lot of them to pieces and was about to be stabbed from behind when the slayer got shot in the head with a bolt. Zak looked over and saw Jaden had the older man's crossbow. He then grinned and tried to remember what words he could use to help them out. His thoughts were interrupted when Jaden asked "where's that exit you mentioned?!" as he shot another slayer. Zak simply groaned a mild "It didn't pan out." Zak recited the shock-wave incantation and threw another group of slayers after them.

Forlorn saw another group of slayers and warned Zak, then asked "Are they ever going to stop?!" And Jaden replied with "Not likely, we hafta get outa here!" Zak turned to yet another heard of slayers and said "Jierda theirra kalfis" while raising his hand towards them. A sickening crack flew threw the halls and bone jutted forth from the men?s legs. They all screamed and fell in pain. Jaden and Zak moved forward and drove off the slayers, while the girls looked for a way out in the back. Neither of the girls wanted to stay behind and be of no help in the battle but they weren't well armed and the guy's were.

Soon enough Zak and jaden were at the front door fending slayers off left right and center. Zak was running slightly low on energy and had used a lot of magic throughout the night. And Jaden was just plain tired. Then Karen ran from behind them with news. "There's a fire exit at the other end of the building! we can get out threw there!" The guy's followed her closely to the exit. Zak had used a spell to make a fairly thick wall behind them, to slow the slayers. Luckily it worked. They all got out, but the slayers were right on their tails. Jaden brought up the idea to find an ammunition store to get some weapons. Forlorn liked the idea but insisted on going back to the inn for her scythe. So they split up, Jaden and Karen went to the local fire-arms depot and Forlorn along with Zak went to the inn and they would meet up later. At the gun shop.

Jaden and Karen went running from the hospital turned battle zone. They reached the bottom of the fire escape, Jaden kicked the ladder and it fell to the ground. He jumped down and helped Karen down and they ran through the alley. They found a car at the alley. the doors were locked.

"Figures how are we gonna get in the car now," Karen said in frustration. Jaden pushed her back and broke the window with the butt of the crossbow. "I guess that'll work, do you know how to hot wire a car?"

"No need," Jaden said pointing to the floor of the passenger side. there laid the car keys. Karen got the the drivers side and started the car.

"Oh shit, its a stick shift,I dont know how to drive a stick shift," Karen said in hope Jaden did.

"Start learning cause I dont either, and we aren't in the position to find another," Jaden said as a slayer in a dark grey uniform, mid length trench coat, and what looked like a strange gas mask. "SHIT! its a class A, the guild must have gotten word that a shade was here,"

"What do I do?

"DRIVE!" Screamed Jaden as Karen gunned the car. The man turned and was slammed into by the car before he had time to react, he flew over the car and landed on is feet. "Did i fail to mention class A are half breeds?"

"I didn't mean to hit mean, if you haven't noticed the steering wheel is on the left side in American cars, I'M BRITISH! In Europe the steering wheel is on the RIGHT SIDE!" Karen yelled in frustration.

"Do you know where the closest ammunition store is?"

"Yeah, I made it a priority to know where a supplier is when I came here,"

"So he has artifacts and holy oddities along with guns? I already like this guy," They drove for a half hour until they reached a building that looking like no one had entered it in at least a decade. they entered the building and it seemed like it was cleaned down to the microscopic level. There stood a very clean man standing behind the counter and then Jaden made eye contact with the man. His eyes flashed a bright crimson. He was a half demon.

"I dont like him already," Jaden whispered to Karen.

"Hush," She said under her breath. Right as they approached the counter a loud bang came from behind them. They turned and there stood Zak and Forlorn.

"I told you we would come back," Zak said almost knowing Jaden doubted his plan. "Oh yes and we brought you a present." Zak pulled Jaden's Sword out from behind his back.

"You could've at least cleaned the blade of my blood," Jaden complained while wiping the blood off of the sword.

Now Zak, Forlorn, Jaden, and Karen were at the local ammunitions store. The half-demon shop-keep tried to hold off the flooding forces of slayers but had failed. He was dead almost instantly and Zak with the others were defending themselves desperately. Zak turned to the others and said mournfully "We have to leave once again. This store is not a strong enough compound at all for what we're dealing with." The group nodded in unison and then reached the same question. "Where will we go?" Jaden was the only one to actually ask. "I don't know you should go as far as you can." replied Zak. Jaden and Zak then exchanged a stern stare and Jaden turned to the girls. "He's right." said Jaden sadly. "If we can get out of town relatively unseen then I guess we'll be out of harm's way at least for a little while." He continued. Then a rebuttal by Forlorn "How will we get out unseen if they're seconds behind us all the time??" Jaden looked puzzled then Zak answered the question "I'll hold them off." he spoke hard and cold. "No! you can't!" Forlorn cried for him to stay with her but he would have no part of letting her be captured if he could do something to help.

There was a back door and the group drove in the clerks car while Zak stayed to distract the slayers. He tried his hardest, using powerful spells to fend off his attackers. But, in the end, he couldn't stop them. While he was attacking one group of five. A slayer spell-weaver prepared a blinding spell. He drove the group into a wall and killed several others before he noticed the spells-men. "Letta sja." said the slayer after much preparation. Zak instantly recognized the words and shouted. "NO!! RAMR JIERDA!!" the spell caster flew about twenty or so feet before hitting a building and getting almost broken in half. The spell however had been cast. Zak already noticed the effects, first his sense of aim left him, then his colour, and clarity. Soon enough, Zak was completely blinded. Even his shadow spike spell couldn't help him, if he could muster the strength to use it, he needed to control the blades and he had no targets. The next thing Zak heard was "Don't kill it! This will be the first time we capture a live shade." the voice was of a woman. From what Zak could tell she was a few inches shorter than him and much younger, then again, everyone always is.

Zak then felt the subtlety of a boot across the back of his neck. He began thinking slower and he knew if he could see everything would be going black now, anyways. He awoke several days later, or so the slayers told him. He had apparently been awake before and he just had some severe amnesia. He could hardly see or think and had almost no idea who he was. "The test was a...success..." said a voice from behind him. "The subject was completely ridden of any spirits and he has little or no side effects or damage from the test." the voice continued. "Excellent!" answered another voice, Zak quickly recognized that one as the girl who had taken him and his memories flooded back. Unfortunately they cut off as he was taken and he doesn't know what who did to him. After a while of coming to terms with reality, Zak stood. "What happened to me?" he asked no one in particular. The girl answered, and for the first time , he actually saw her. he was shorter than he thought maybe 4'4" tops, she had long straight black hair and was dressed in all black leather. "Your name is Zak. You were possessed by evil spirits...we saved you from them and a renegade slayer with some demon..Sadly they got away, at least we managed to save you."

Zak was filled with anger and confusion. His voice was much more human like and had a softer tone entirely. He looked different too, the spirits had changed what he looked like a lot more than he knew. His hair was the same but now it was a darker brown colour, and his skin actually had colour to it as well. His eyes shifted from a slicing blue to a bright welcoming green. And he felt like dying, a feeling never shared while he was a shade. "Am--Am I a prisoner here?" he asked the girl. "No, no of coarse not!" she cheerfully replied. "We have cured you, for the most part. You can go whenever you wish." "For the most part?! What am I then?!" Zak asked furiously. The girl replied with the same cheery demeanour but Zak could tell she was upset "Well some of the spirits permanently scarred you, your mind and body." She began "First of all, you still don't age. We do not know why, but you just don't. Secondly you still seem to be stronger and faster than the average or even well trained human. We haven?t gotten you to fight anyone so we don't know how you are with weapons or magic."

After hearing all this Zak left. It took him a while to realize exactly how to act , the spirits that previously owned his body and mind made up more than half of his usual actions and moods. He was lost in seconds. The biggest imprint of his memory was that of Forlorn. His human counterpart was always in love with her, and now he was more human than counter part. He only wished that he could see her again, then he feared her and Jaden along with Karen rejecting him for being what he was. ?Would Forlorn love him still, not knowing what he was or what he can do? And would Jaden or Karen befriend him? or hunt him like he was a monster??" These questions and thousands more ran through Zak's shattered mind as he walked aimlessly down the street.

Two days past since they had escaped the ammunition shop and made their way to a house in uptown New York. The house had people living in it but apparently they hadn't been here in a while. It was probably a summer house given the district it was in and the condition the house was in when they arrived. The house was dirty and dusty, but it had all of its utilities and then some. They had cable and the internet on top of all of the basic, it was the first time in a while that they got to relax in a long time. They all worried about Zak even though Jaden told them he was fine but Forlorn still worried immensely.

"When are we going looking for him?" asked Forlorn while she was fidgeting with a rubix cube she found in one of the bedrooms.

"He will probably find us, if not we will look in a couple of days," replied Karen flicking through the channels. apparently the authorities played off the whole hospital battle as a "Terrorist Attack", but Jaden knew that the Guild payed them off to keep their mouths shut.

"But what if he dosen't? What if he needs us?"

"He will be fine, you shouldn't worry about it, he is fine," The very next thing Karen knew she was picked up by her throat and pinned to the wall.

"I'M TIRED OF YOU PEOPLE TELLING ME TO NOT WORRY! THE ONLY PERSON TO SHOW ME ANY KINDNESS AT ALL IS OUT THERE! PROBABLY CAPTURED OR HURT..." Forlorn's rant was cut short as she felt something cold press against her neck. Jaden stood with the flat end of his sword pressed against her throat.

"Put her down." Jaden said calmly. Forlorn let go of Karen letting her fall to the floor. "Now step back, and take a deep breath," She backed away as Karen got up to her feet and stood behind Jaden. "Now let it out," right as she let out her breath tears came to her eyes and she started to sob. she fell forward against Jaden. She put her hands on his chest and unintentionally sank her claws into his chest, scratching him a little. "You shouldn't cry, I've found out where he is." She looked at him with tears in her eyes and he smiled, come with me I'll show you.

They when down the hallway into the office and They all huddled behind the computer. "see this map here, It was made only three weeks ago," He explained, "See this blank spot, where supposedly nothing is," He said pointing at a field on the map. "Now look at this satellite feed I have," he said opening another window.

"How'd you get a satellite feed?" Karen interrupted.

"It's called Google Earth, Its public domain, but as you can see there is a building here,"

"So, the map makes miss a couple buildings,"

"No there is way too much traffic going into and out of that building for anyone to miss, it isn't there for a reason, and i would put money on thats where the Guild are operating out of in this region,"

"So that means Zak would be there!" said Forlorn starting to get excited.

"Yes, and that is where we are going to look for him," replied Jaden.

Forlorn ran in a room and grabbed her scythe. Then hurriedly ran out the door. She saw the map, she knew the turns and she was going to get there faster than any car could travel. Jaden and Karren were taken aback by her irrationality and impatience. It took all they could to keep up with the running Forlorn.

She ran along not paying any attention when, WHAM!!! She slammed right into some guy. He grabbed the back of her forearms to steady himself and stop her from falling. She was hunched over slightly against his chest. She looked up and what she saw turned her paler than she already was.

It was Zak! Or was it? He looked so different. He was less pale and his eyes...They weren't cold. He looked human. Forlorn straightened herself and her ears went flat. He changed? He's human? Will he still love me? Or am I a monster to him now? Her tail sank, partially between her legs.

"Frolorn?" His voice was.....Different. He was blushing.

Forlorn stood in deep thought. She turned and walked away, fearing rejection of that whom she loves. Zak tryed to chase after her but His new self couldn't keep up, even if he did retain some speed.

She loves me no more....Zak thought with tears forming in his eyes.

Sadness, one of the new emotions he fully had while 'human'. He ran after Forlorn as fast as he could, she was slowly becoming farther and farther away. Zak got frustrated, he knew as a shade he could surpass Forlorn, and easily pass her in a race. Now she was leaving him, literally, and he could do nothing to stop her. He cried harder and blurred his own vision.

Soon he tripped. Forlorn disappeared from sight. For what seemed like a life-time he just laid on the side-walk and cried. After a while he stood and looked around, after wiping his eyes. He was being pushed out of the way by countless humans not caring about him. He would have been feared and avoided by all if he were still a shade, all except Forlorn. But now, she was the only one who did try to stay away from him.

Zak got frustrated even more and cried harder. Then some guy got personal with him. "Move it you freakin' wimp!" screamed an overly tall man. He had blonde short hair and he was wearing a loose t-shirt and baggy jeans. "Leave me alone." said Zak, he tried to sound threatening but his new voice didn't help at all. The guy replied "Screw you stupid, you're nothing." And the man drew a 9mm and put it to Zak's head.

Zak got a deathly fear in his mind, he thought "Damn, I'm no longer a shade, even if I get shot in the head I'll die instantly." He looked around nervously and drew the rapier that the slayers gave him. They took away his shade sword, since it was forged by evil or something. His new sword was thin but strong. He swung the sword and sliced threw the other mans arm. The man screamed in pain and dropped the gun. Almost instinctively Zak flipped the blade threw the air and rested it against the man's throat.

"D-Don't kill me dude!" pleaded the man ." Zak didn?t feel any urge to kill the sobbing man, although as a shade the jerk would already be a corpse. Zak simply sheathed his sword and walked away, in the direction of Forlorn. He hoped he would find Jaden or Karen, Forlorn had rejected him as a human, but they were human too. He prayed they would take him in again. He walked down the street with his hand in the hilt of his rapier, waiting for some good luck. He knew he would get some, since his life had been destroyed within a few days.

Jaden watched as Zak ran after Forlorn, he sorta felt sorry for Zak and Forlorn, but that emotion left him as he had the urge for a cigarette.

"Why so quiet?" asked Karen looking him straight in the eyes with her arms around his waist. "Are you thinking about their predicament, it's sad isnt it,"

"I guess, I've never been too fond of drama" Jaden answered as he pulled out a cigarette. "You gonna follow them?"

"What do you mean?"

"I know you a little better than you think I do, and I know you are into all of that lovey dovey shit, I just though you'd jump at a chance to do something like this,"

"You know me all to well," Karen kissed Jaden on his cheek and ran after Zak. Jaden started walking towards the house, he felt a strange feeling, a sort of light headed feeling. It was a Halfbreed. Before he could react he was thrown against a wall and had both arms pinned and they had a decent grip on his hair.

"Greetings Jaden," called a voice from behind. He was turned around to see the smiling face of a very short woman in leather. "Hows it going?"

"Well, until now pretty good Hannah, but you know how getting my scalp ripped off kinda puts me in a bad mood, "

"You can release him, he wont be much of a threat," The slayer holding Jaden let go of him and ripped his sheath off of his back. "here, let me get you a light for your cigarette," she pulled a lighter out of her pocket and lit it.

"I'm good, I've got my own," He flicked and his thumb ignited. She smiled and placed her lighter back in her pocket.

"Do you know why we are here?" Jaden looked down at her exhaled some smoke and shrugged. "We are here to make a offer, your life for a favor," Jaden stood silent. "We have a problem, the vampire community has had a lot of activity lately,"

"I know this, you had me on reconnaissance,"

"Yes well, they are making tactical strikes on slayers now, something big is going down and we want you and your little 'rag tag' band of miscreants to handle it. We have traced it back to a vampire named Skye, we want you to take care of her. Oh and here you left this at the Hospital," she reached behind her and retrieved his ammo belt and revolver. She then had the man behind him hand him back is katana and push him back onto the street. Jaden fastened his belt and tied his sheath back on. Then he ran to catch up with the others, he had to tell them the news.

Zak was walking alone when he heard someone running behind him. He turned and saw Karen! "K-Karen?!" he asked, exited to see her. "Yah, good to see you buddy." she replied happily. "I'm not..a shade anymore." Zak said, almost ashamed of his humanity. Karen looked him up and down and smiled "I would think not." she said "You look...human." Zak looked down and muttered "Yah..I'm not a human though."

"Huh?! what are you then???" Karen asked confused. "I'm like an ex-shade, I still have some abnormal qualities." Zak was speaking without thought, his mind was entirely on Forlorn. "I'm going go to fetch my girl now." he said in his new soft voice. Karen could still tell he was serious. "How? She's way too fast for you." said Karen. "There's a biker coming, I'll use his bike." Zak replied as coldly as possible.

Karen looked around and saw nothing in ways of a biker "Uhhh there's no biker bud, I have no idea what you're talking about." Karen said sympathetically. Just then the sounds of a loud chopper engine filled the street and Zak ran onto the road. The biker came speeding around a corner and was heading for Zak at about 100miles per hour. Zak jumped towards the bike in a drop-kick fashion and booted the rider off. He had grabbed the handlebar and spun around 180 degrees into the seat.

Karen saw all of it happen in about half a second. In an instant Zak went from running onto the road to riding down it at 90mph. Jaden had just caught up to her when it happened. "What the hell was that?!" he asked Karen. "Uhh he's going to get Forlorn." She answered bluntly as if she saw the same happening's on an hourly basis. Forlorn was still running fairly fast when Zak caught sight of her, but when she heard the engine she stopped to look and see what it was.

Zak was standing on the speeding bike, one foot on the seat and one on the handlebars. She gawked at the odd sight for moment. Zak flew down the pavement and leapt into a back flip as he got to Forlorn. The bike kept going and fell into a long skid. Forlorn watched Zak cascade threw the air in a twisting back flip until he landed in front of her with a deft *thud* "You came after me...?" she asked blushing. Zak blushed as well but steadied his eyes with hers. "Yes, of coarse I did...I love you.." He whispered softly.

"You do? You still love me?" Frolorn looked at Zak in suprise. "You don't want a human female? You can have one, now, you know...." She waited for his response.

"No. I don't want any other person than you." That word....person? He called her a person?

"I'm no person. I'm a monster and your a human. You cant' love me. It defys your new-found humanity."

"But I do love you and I've never loved anyone like you. Your my life. I can only think of you..Your always on my mind." He looked down." But You don't love me.....I'm human now, or at least more human than I was before."

She leaned in and looked into his melancholy eyes. "Is that what you think?" She wispered calmly starting to tear up.

"You ran from me..."

"I thought you wouldn't love me anymore."

"I will alw-" He was cut off by forlorn, who had leaned in and kissed him gentaly on the mouth. He kissed back, resting one hand on the back of her neck and the other on her waist. She put her arms around his neck holding him tight.
they kissed for a long time, eyes closed, open-mouthed, with a bit of toungue.

"Always love you." He finished when she broke the kiss.

Jaden walked along with Karen right behind him. They walked a while trying to catch up to Zak after he did his overly dramatic motorcycle trick. Jaden felt Karen grab his hand, he looked at her as she reached up and grabbed the cigarette out of his mouth. She put it in hers and inhaled. She really was a special girl, until she met Jaden she was against smoking, until she found out that magic gave you a uncanny side effect, a resilience to disease, ever since then she has smoked almost as much as Jaden.

They made their way through the streets trying to find Zak and Forlorn. An odd silence enveloped them. They just walked and walked it seemed like Zak had made it pretty far. They finally saw them, just standing in the middle of the crowd. Then they started kissing. Karen smiled and looked at Jaden. They approached the couple while they were distracted.

"Would you guys like me to spot you some cash for a room?" Jaden asked sarcastically.

"Well, if you would like too, go ahead," replied Forlorn with a smirk. She blushed and Zak's face had been red. Karen and the other two started conversing about babble that Jaden found uninteresting.

"I've been offered a pardon," Jaden said causing everyone to stop and stare right at him. "If we deal with a little vampire problem the Guild is having,"

"Why are you the only one being offered a pardon?" asked Forlorn a little perturbed.

"Because I am the only one who has broken any rules here, I am the only member of the Guild, they will not pardon you of being a demon even though I might be able to get you off of their radar, Karen was never at fault and it looks like Zak has no problem with the Guild anymore,"

"Then where is this problem?" asked Karen excited that Jaden wouldn't be hunted like an animal anymore.

"Well, I think I know where we can find out,"

"Where?"

"Japan, thats where I was on reconnaissance, and if we ask around the 'community' I bet we could find out,"

"Then what are we waiting for?" Karen asked looking at Forlorn and Zak who were not so hot on the idea.

Zak thought about it for a moment then decided being on the slayers' good side couldn't hurt. "We're waiting for me to relax." he answered Karen's question. Karen Forlorn and Jaden all looked at him in confusion "You've had two days, or so I've been told, to do nothing. And I've been stressed like nobodies business. So I need a break." Jaden seemed irritated but Karen didn't mind at all, and Forlorn just giggled slightly and didn't care.

Zak led them to a bar/ strip bar. Jaden didn't mind so much now but Karen and Forlorn were definitely uneasy here. They all took up seats at the bar's counter and began ordering drinks. Where as the dancing stages were behind them. Zak and Jaden carefully planned this out to keep the girls happy. After a while Forlorn was drunk and hanging off of Zak. And Karen couldn't see straight.

She spent most of her time groping Jaden bluntly, it didn't take a genius to see she was grabbing his crotch every five seconds, and the occasional "Come on, do me" or "please, let's go fuck" was heard from her general direction. The boys however were much heavier drunks and weren't even buzzed yet. Zak was still having a good time though. Plus he and Jaden were going to get drunk themselves soon enough. Forlorn sitting in his lap made his night entirely. And Jaden didn't exactly complain about Karen either.
