Through the course of history, there have been tales of a weapon. It comes under many names; Liberator, Destruction, Blade That Carves History. These are just a few of its many personas.

It comes under many forms. Some say it is a sword, while others believe that it is a parasite that adapts to the user?s dreams. They all different tales, but they are all true.

Also through out history there have been those called the Seekers. Their backgrounds are just as abundant as their population. They share very few things in common, but one thing is true among them all: they all seek the legendary weapon.

Seekers, and The Weapon, have shaped the course of history countless times. The Weapon has turned peace into war, and vice versa. Its powers are as versatile as the wishes of man.

It is now the 15th Century. Seekers are once again searching for the Weapon, for whatever purpose.

You are one of them.

This RP will be different from others in several ways. First off, there will be a pairing RPing system. Everyone will choose a partner (up to two) that they will be their main RP companions. Only three people can be grouped at a time ? if you want another person to join, and you have three already, someone will have to leave. This is so emphasis the theme of competition between everyone to find The Weapon.

Secondly, there will be a specific order system. Each team will designate an order in which they will post in. This is so people aren?t rushed; they can take their time. That way, the RP won?t face an untimely death.

Since this is 15th Century Earth, we are still in the middle ages. Kings still rule as Divine beings sent from God, the Church is all supreme, and Japan is full of samurais and geishas. Those who go against the powers will most likely face an untimely death. How you will have Asia and Europe meet each other is entirely up to you. Racism should be a major factor, however. I suggest you do some Wikipedia-ing to find out the society and rules of the time period.

Name: Caden
Age: 24
Nationality: British

Class: Templar Knight (in hiding)
Weapon: Broadsword, A smooth oak longbow, and a quiver of arrows with pure white swan feather fletches.

Appearance: His hair is slightly blonder, his complexion is lighter. His tunic is tattered around the hem suggesting that he's worn this tunic for quite some time, the Chain mail underneath however is very clean and shiny. The mail is the first thing suggesting that Caden is more than a simple boy. He stands about six feet tall and yet being this tall does not alarm anyone, they assume he is in fact a gentle person, that is until his cloak comes off and reveals the menacingBroadsword and most people get the idea that he's more than just a wandering rogue. He's a knight of some order. Most of his clothes are those he started out with when he started loooking for the men that killed his father before his eyes. Unlike the old knights of his order he does not don the full armor, but instead will wear what he always wears except maybe a bracer or two.

Personality: Reserved and soft spoken most of the time but he lets his emotions control him. This is mainly due to his past as a child and also to the fact that he is a Knight Templar, branded by the church as heretics, blasphomers of the cross, and by all intents and purposes evil people. The few people Caden has told that he is in fact a Templar Knight are surprised that such a handsome and kind boy is a supposed "Enemy of the Church and God." Most people, when passing by Caden would assume he was just a young boy enjoying swordplay and therefor would be a simpleton, yet when they hear him speak in a mannered tone. Being direct and tactful in situations usually shocks people.

When alone Caden usually keeps watch of himself at all times while palming a small pendant given to him by his father. The pendant is that of the Templars themselves and yet Caden can do nothing but simmer at the thought of being a Templar. The fact that he was born into a life of running from persecution and hatred by the Church has done nothing but fuel his hatred not only towards the papacy but twoards his own kind as well. When he met another hiding Templar, Caden immediately struck the man in the face and told him that maybe the Templars should have stayed in Acre and perished rather than returning to the homeland to be persecuted by a corrupt church. This of course has put him under the eye of some the Templars most trusted spies and informants. To make sure that he does not turn over any remaining Templars to the Church.

At other times he is easily calmed by playing a small flute that his father made for him when he was all of six. The boy was always akeen to music and as a baby could only be calmed by his father's flute playing. Since then he's always put at ease by playing or listening to music. Call it a weakness if you like, but to Caden its his only escape from the world he lives in.

Combat Tactics: Caden usually charges in on all cylinders and will keep fighting until every enemy is downed or has surrendered. He does not enjoy backing off all that much and would have to be practically dragged off from a battle. This kind of behavior is quite dangerous and has gotten the young knight into some hard spots that he barely escaped from. His emotions put him almost into a blind rage and some people think that he is an ancient beserker reincarnated because he will keep fighting even if he is seriously wounded.

Special Skills: Caden is able to wield his broadsword with one hand for a small amount of time and can actually down a mounted knight while he is firmly planted on the ground. He actually once threw his sword clear across a room and it landed directly on its target.

Bio: Knights Templar, defenders of the Holy Land, desecraters of the cross, heretics, evil doers. This has been ingrained into Caden's mind ever since he could carry a sword. His father was a former Knight and yet he was a kind man and was well liked by the people in their village. What Caden didn't know was that since they were hiding, he was never to reveal what his father truly was. However, one day when Caden was fourteen he asked his father to show him what Templars did. For most of that day his father was very angry and distraught with Caden, but finally that night his father roused him from sleep and took him to a secret meeting in the woods where he met the Grand Master and asked if he may be accepted into the order. The master pondered this for awhile and then said that the boy would have to undergo the initiations the following year. Caden was so elated that the next day he couldn't believe that the night's events had actually happened.

However the year was not so pleasant. The church had actually tracked down Caden's father. The pope himself actually appeared with two armed soldiers who brutally tortued Caden's father. The boy tried to defend his father but was savagely struck by one of the soldier's sword, hence the scar across his face. As he laid there bleeding, blood flowing into his eye, he saw the other soldier raise his sword up and then in an instant it came down upon his father's head. In that same moment he lost consciousness. Thankfully when the soldier who had attacked the boy earlier turned to kill the boy his mother threw herself upon the boy and told the soldier that Caden was just defending his father and that he is a good boy who believes in the cross and that Templars are evil creatures, that he had no idea that his father was a Templar. The pope bought the claim and let the boy live. When Caden came to he was back in his house with his mother, who had been weeping, his right eye though was bandaged and he felt a searing pain as he ran his fingers along his cheek. Cursing then he spent the rest of that year going out into the far fields and woods practicing sword play, his mother was his sparring partner. For a woman she was actually quite adept with a sword.

When the year passed Caden met the Grand Master yet again and passed the initiation rites and asked to become a knight. He was accepted and swore vengance on the church for what they did to his father. To either the dismay or the surprise of the Grand Master, Caden found the two soldiers who killed his father and repaid them for their act of hatred, however when he left them he a cloth with a Templar cross on it on the faces of the dead men. Now with his vendetta on those two men comeplete Caden has been wandering searching for something to do such as a quest or some way to redeem the Templars.

A single stare at Siegfried is all anyone needs to know that he is, at his heart, a warrior. The first thing they undoubtedly notice the massive zweihander that he wields. The massive blade is taller than he, at a massive six and a half feet. The blade is rigid along its side, almost like a modern day chainsaw. If the sheer force of the blade doesn?t cut through you, the teeth certainly will.

Siegfried?s blonde hair is long, trailing down to his shoulders. Its are not exactly what you would call neat, but its no where close to being something a beggar would be proud of.

His face is that of a man who has seen many hells; the biggest indication of that is a scar that trails down his left eye and ends at his cheek. His azure eyes also seem to show little kindness.

As for clothing, Siegfried tends to wear a series of tabards from a variety of feudal lords and kings. His history as a mercenary is easily shown here.

Personality

To describe the way Siegfried acts is not exactly easy. He may have the physique of a giant, with his well built body and ferocious face, but he does have a kind heart most of the time. This can probably be attributed to the way his father treated him. But at the same time, Siegfried can be very uncaring and harsh almost instantly. He can be the kindest wandering swordsman in the world one minute, while the next he?s shouting curses.

The way he acts like this is not known. He just seems to go the way the wind takes him; much like the way he goes off in whatever direction rumors of the Weapon point him to.

The Weapon is his life. He will ignore any and all form of common sense if he feels that it will bring him to the Weapon.

Combat Tactics

It is not very hard to describe Siegfried?s style of combat. In fact, it can be done in six words: ?Hit them, and hit them hard!? Head butts, slamming the butt end of his zweihander into enemies, high vertical swings; these are the most common of his maneuvers. He rarely fights to be kind; when he hits you, you are going to know it.
Special Skills

Despite the sheer weight of the zweihander, Siegfried is able to wield it with a massive amount of speed, strength and dexterity.

Bio

Siegfried was born into the life of a knight. His father was Fredrick Zukaffachten, a loyal knight of the Count Palantine of Saxony. Fredrick was the descendant of a family of knights who fought with valor and zeal during the Crusades, and thus, the Zukaffachten name had quite a good history behind it.

As a boy, Siegfried was fascinated by the fairy tales of adventurous knights who would rescue damsels in distress, or would perform other heroic deeds. He would tell his father constantly how he wanted to be a knight on some grand adventure.

Fredrick was known as the gentle knight by many, since he was constantly in support of the serfs. He wouldn?t fight any revolutions for them, however. He taught this manner of respect for all classes to his son.

One day, father and son was called to the Crusade. This was the adventure that Siegfried had been waiting for! Now, he will fight the heretics, fight for God, and return a hero!

But it was not to be as his dreams would wish it.

While he was out on patrol, he was overwhelmed and captured by a group of rogues. It was not expected; after all, his patrol route was mere miles from the war camp. No Muslim would of have been foolish enough to attack a knight so close!

But these weren?t Muslims at all. They were Rogues, neither Christian nor Muslim. They belonged to a Cult that worshipped Gods that no man will eve record. That night, they tortured Siegfried. The session, although mere minutes, seemed to go on for days and days.

They gave him a choice. Either sacrifice his soul to their God of Agony, or be fused with a demon, and be neither man nor monster. He will pave the way for the Road of Blood.

Siegfried, in his delusional mind, chose the demon.

When Siegfried returned, he was a madman. He was rambling countless heresies and pagan thoughts. He wasn?t himself at all. He wasn?t even human.

For many months, he would stay at a monastery, being treated daily by the monks there. It would be many years before he was in a normal state, and by then, he was a rogue. He cared for no one but himself. He ran away from the monastery, his wondrous zweihander in hand, and created a group of rouges called the Blood Storm.

For many months, the Blood Storm would raid and kill all they saw fit. None were safe! Villages, temples, all were prime targets.

One day, they heard about a knight that was escorting a trove of treasures. ?We?ll be rich!?, Siegfried remarked. So, they attacked the party, killing everyone in their path.

Siegfried was about to kill the last one, when he saw who it was.

?Father??

Full of shame, Siegfried ran from the group, taking out a dagger and cutting himself down the face.

He became a wanderer, being with no man. He would die alone. He would not allow the beast within to control him anymore!

I'll use a character from an RPG that sadly died...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Name: Sarundanka Surenich (also called Saruna)
Age: 18
Nationality: Some sort of European--no one's sure what (not even she knows). Some think she's Norwegian because her family lives in Norway, but...
Class: The Swift Individual
Weapon: A unique sort of weapon (hence the "individual"). It consists of a long stick that is decorated with a silver spiral that ends in a sort of holder. This holder holds one of three weapons. One is a broad blade that looks like a fan, but the edges are very sharp. Another makes it look like a scythe, because it resembles a giant cat claw. Often times this is filled with a sort of poison which is injected when the claw stabs a victim. The third looks like a row of thin pipes. These are often filled with powders or quills which are let out when the stick is swung fast enough.
Saruna keeps the two unused "heads" (and a few replacement substances) in a sort of backpack, held in place with a lightweight padding.
Appearance: It's pretty easy to tell Saruna is a night person and even to determine her fighting style from her appearance. She has very pale skin, she's only about five feet tall, and her figure is rather thin. It would be an ideal appearance for a thief or just someone who sneaks around at night. And as if it was a contricution to night and darkness, her hair is possibly the blackest of blacks (meaning it isn't shiny) and fairly curly, and falls down to just above her waist. Going with that, her eyes are a sort of misty gray.
One can judge by the clothes she wears that she's either a distant heir of a noble or a very experienced thief. As for what she wears, that would be an elegant black shirt, with sleeves that are flowy and fairly long. She also wears a long skirt with a fading blue colour. Underneath that are a pair of thick black boots made of some sort of fur, and around her neck is a necklace--a rather fancy-looking silver one (which sort of resembles the framework around a facy mirror), with a charm consisting of an amethyst oval. Surely any of these could have been either passed down or stolen...
Personality: Saruna is overall sadistic and cold-hearted. She can get along with other people sort of well, but she also likes to do things her own way. This doesn't mean that she won't follow orders--she might, but she'll put a giant spin of creativity on her duties. Other than that, she loves to battle, and she won't really care who she's fighting. Her main targets are various criminals or people who are severely "evil", but she'll turn against anyone she has reason to. She does believe in karma--she just pushes its limits a little occasionally.
Saruna's favourite time of day is night, and if she doesn't have anything to do during the daytime, she'll usually be out and about at that time. Anyways, one of Saruna's favourite pastimes is venturing out onto the sea or into an open field, just to relax and experience the wonders of the night. In fact, she can be quite a nature lover--a nice contrast to her rather fierce attitude towards humans. She is definitely aware of a divine presence all around the world--Mother Nature's presence. So she is a firm believer in the divine, but not necessarily the God most people at the time had been led to believe in. Because of this and an also firm belief in magic, she is forced to keep a lot of her personal interests secret... For she knows well the fatal consequences of "poor faith".
Especially outside of battle, Saruna isn't usually as cruel or as antisocial as one might think. She can talk quite openly with people about various issues, and she generally listens to her heart. Once she feels like she can trust someone, she can be open with that person in terms of personal issues. Believing in karma also means believing in good karma, so Saruna ultimately does things to help people or to avoid a seriously evil misdeed. (Of course, there's the favourite "slay the man who kidnaps the child" or something along those lines.)
Combat Tactics: You might notice that Saruna doesn't wear any armour. To make up for this, Saruna uses two other things to her advantage. For one, without any armour or heavy clothes to weigh her down, she often uses speed to her advantage, whether to dodge other weapons or sneak up behind someone and strike. For another, she prefers to fight at night, or in some dark area--in order to conceal herself better.
Sometimes Saruna slightly alters her strategy after changing the head of her weapon. The broad blade could be used as a shield, but Saruna especially likes to use this head to lash out at an enemy as if it was a sword. If she changes it to the cat-claw-ish scythe, she'll dodge attacks while searching for a perfect place to stab an enemy, releasing whatever might be inside of it. If using the row of pipes, she'll usually wait till she's surrounded by enemies, then spin around to release whatever's inside of them. And, to change weapon heads, she either finds a time when nobody's attacking her or hides behind a tree or rock. Changing the head is usually pretty quick unless she needs to reload a poison or something.
Special Skills: Saruna's most prominent skill is night vision--she sees much better than the average person in the dark or at night.
Bio: Sarundanka was born into a small cult which specialized in combat with rather unusual weapons. On another side, most of its members were pagan, so his was yet another reason why the cult was kept rather secret. Because the cult's headquarters was located in a cave near the edge of the Seine river in France, it was tentatively called the "Cavewater Society". (Hey, the leader of the cult couldn't come up with much of a better name...)
The Surenich family took up most of this society, and that family was rather interesting. Most interesting of all was Saruna's siblings. First was Hasaitsuavleun, her little brother. He was an optimistic little guy and also very friendly, but loyal as well. He took his training just as well as Saruna did. Saruna often ignored "Hasaitsu"--she didn't really like him or hate him. But then there was Chibutakamo, her little sister. Saruna hated "Chibu" for being too obnoxiously cute and sweet. Chibu was very gullible and naive, and in fact she seemed younger than she actually was. But she did very poorly in her combat training--maybe she "just didn't have that fighting spirit". Chibu also often ventured outside (in the daytime as well--she wasn't a night person), so Saruna often feared Chibu would be the one to get the whole cult in trouble by revealing their secrets.
Saruna explained Chibu's problem to her parents, but all they suggested to her was that she watch over Chibu more carefully. Saruna did her best to do this (she would have great fun tormenting her), but she often found herself busy with her training, as well as the real fighting she occasionally did later on in her life. So when she wasn't watching over Chibu, either Hasaitsu or her parents were. However, she rarely trusted Hasaitsu, for he seemed to be too easy on Chibu. He would often just let her be, then go off to do other things. Hasaitsu often got in trouble for this, even though he kept saying that "it was Saruna's fault because she's too darn bloodthirsty to care about the family". Indeed, if the parents ever favored any one of them, it was Saruna for her rather impressive combat skills.
Whenever Chibu managed to escape, she would often hang out with random people in gatherings or taverns. They were the sort of "faithful and good-natured" people that the Cavewater disliked--yet in a way she kind of favoured them, so maybe that's why she didn't have much desire to fight. As for Hasaitsu, he often ventured above ground as well, for the main purpose of hunting or relaxing. But Saruna remained a devout Cavewater member, or rather a unique individual who took many of the society's characteristics.
The Surenich family itself was one who traveled a lot, especially on the sea. They would keep traveling between places like Scotland and Ireland and Germany often, and their main homeland of Scandinavia. (This was not always where their family's homeland was--with each generation they moved to a new place.) But most times they lived on a "ship" called the Merriweather, a rather small yet sturdy vessel in that. (And the reason why the ship is in quotation marks is that because it's so small, it also has a pair of oars to the side to assist in turning and such.) Aboard the Merriweather, Mr. and Mrs. Surenich often kept watch for pirates and such (Saruna did this at night), Hasaitsu manned the sails and the oars if needed, and Chibu lured enemies in with her cute appearance... Heh, more reason to hate Chibu...
It wasn't too long before the Surenich family learned of the Weapon. Basically, over time they learned of the powerful changes it has brought about the world over the years. They also heard of the Seekers who searched for this weapon. They considered seeking the weapon themselves, with the possibility of the Weapon being able to end such things as racism and religious discrimination. However, the parents spent more time watching the kids than fighting, and Hasaitsu and Chibu thought seeking the Weapon was either too ridiculous or too dangerous. But Saruna talked it over with her parents--she really wanted to seek the Weapon, even if it had to be by herself. Her parents felt kind of worried about her for making this decision, but by that time they did know about Saruna's fighting skill and that she didn't mind being alone. So they helped her a little by giving her a small sack of gold and a few useful items such as a compass and the bag she now wears as a sort of backpack. And as she left, Saruna felt a glimmer of kindness, even--a feeling that she would be able to help a lot of people by finding this mysterious weapon.
Name: Lolita Reyn
Age: 24
Nationality: Spanish
Class: The Blademaster
Weapon: As a Blademaster, Lolita has been trained to weild any sort of blade weapon she recognises. This includes swords of any type (including katanas), halberds, daggers amongst others. She also has a keen sense of what can be used as a weapon in case she is unarmed (initative weapons such as knives or needles).
Appearance: >> Lolita <<
As women are not regarded highly in this day and age, Lolita disguises herself as a young man. Most are fooled by her appearance, due to her flat chest and seemingly boyish features. In order to keep up this facade, Lolita rarely speaks to people. If she needs to, she then speaks in a very boyish tone and manner Lolita learned from imitating the young Prince of Spain, as well as others from the Royal Court.
Her features are unique, which makes it hard for Lolita to pass through society without recognition. Her shoulder-length white-grey hair makes her stick out and subjects her to ridicule. In addition to her unique white hair, Lolita has the same colour eyes. To hide these features, and her usual clothing, Lolita wears a slate grey, hooded hunter's cloak that covers the entirety of her 5' 7" body.
Her clothes were specifically tailored for her use by the Queen of Spain's personal suitor. The Queen wanted to give Lolita something unique, like herself, and also as a gift giving up most of her childhood to protect her and the Prince. It was also a symbol that Lolita had broken free of the restraints put on women by men.
Personality:
Lolita has, in essence, two different personalities. The boy she plays when she is out in public, and the person she really is.
The boy she acts as is fearless and very much a true warrior. Lolita sometimes feels that 'Eliseo' - the name of the boy - is very much a part of herself, the part that she is unable to show because she is a woman. To the public, Eliseo is an expert blademaster who is the personal guard to the Queen, and the Prince. Many fear Eliseo because of his connections with the Royal Court. Some even hate him.
NB: When Lolita is acting as 'Eliseo', the colour of the text will be dark red, for simplicity's sake.
Lolita, as herself, is very protective and loyal - much like Eliseo. She's obedient, but does question the order's motives if she does not think it is justified. Like most Spanish girls, Lolita loves to dance. The Queen describes her as 'a loyal but untameable flame'.
Combat Tactics:
Lolita/Eliseo is a calculating fighter. She is very aware of her surroundings during a fight, and takes most factors into consideration when choosing to take on an opponent or opponents. She does not use too much power in one fight if it is not needed. Her strikes in battle are quick but calculated, utilising what strength she has as well as what her opponent is doing at the same time. Many who have witnessed her way of fighting have called it the 'God Strike' style.
Special Skill/s:
Lolita possesses only one special skill worth mentioning. Maelstrom. She uses this only in the most desperate of occasions. The basis of the Maelstrom ability is to attack your opponent/s at their critical points before they are able to retaliate.
Bio:
Lolita's mother was branded a witch when she was a mere 7 years of age. Her own father bound her mother to a heavy rock and threw her into the lake near their home. Then he turned upon Lolita herself, but luckily, her older brother, Alvaro, got wind of his father's plans and ran away with her. From then on, Lolita has been mortally afraid of large expanses of water.
They were eventually found by one of the maids of the Royal Court as the King, Queen and young Prince travelled to their spring castle in Andulusia. Both Alvaro and Lolita were taken to the castle to rejuvenate. By the time Lolita had awoken a week later, Alvaro was already taking lessons from one of the Court's sword duellists.
It was then that Lolita and Alvaro were taken in by various members of the Royal Court. Over the next few years they were taught like they were the children of the Royal Family. The Queen grew quite fond of them both, and treated them as her own. Lolita, now surrounded by two olders brothers, was constantly left out of their sword training. However, this didn't stop her. She practiced often, sometimes even challenging her 'brothers' to duel.
Upon seeing the potential of Lolita's abilities, the Queen assigned one of the best duellists to Lolita for training. At first, things were difficult. The duellist wouldn't train Lolita because she was a female child, but after being threatened by the Queen, he resorted to teaching Lolita everything he knew.
Lolita was a teenager when her teacher finally admitted that her training was complete. She could beat both her 'brothers' with a single stroke. Seeing Lolita blossom into a strong, independent individual, the Queen decided to take the teenage girl as her guard. That way she was able to keep her near and continue to teach her about being independent and the ways of the Court.
It was then that Lolita came up with her public character, Eliseo. She knew that a woman with abilities such as her would surely be persecuted and branded as a witch. Thankfully, she didn't look overly feminine and her character, Eliseo, grew from that.
By the time Lolita turned 21, her brother, Alvaro, was also a skilled duellist. However, he drifted farther and farther away from his duty as a guard to the King and Prince. One day, he vanished all together. It broke Lolita's heart when the Prince brandished him a traitor. Ever since then, Lolita had been eager to go on a journey to find her traitor brother and get some answers to the questions she had been asking.
OOC: There. I've written a novel, as you've requested.
I'm really breaking my promise to myself not to RPG anymore, but I can't pass this one up. You're really asking for a huge sign up, so this better pay off. I'll edit this immediatley, let me put it through Word.
Just a hunch, but this is based alot on Soul Calibur, isn't it? No matter, for I am king of that game. Undefeated as of late.
Check out the references to my character, such as the Hwarang. Real group of warriors from back then, legendary folk.
Name: Haneul Yong (translated as Brave Sky)
Age: 21
Nationality: Korean (Former Silla Kingdom)
Class: The Last of the Hwarang, Gukseon (translated as State Immortal)
Weapon: Haneul carries with him always his two beloved weapons, Ki Soo and Ki Kum.
The spear Ki Soo (translated as Spirit Spear) is six-feet long. Its shaft was created from the wood of a holy Korean fir tree said to be older than the Korean Kingdom itself. Its blade was blessed and endowed with the soul of all the Hwarang warriors of old. The weapon in its entirety is said to be unbreakable and is reputed to be magical in its own right.
The sword Ki Kum (translated as Spirit Sword) is a two-foot long, one-sided battle sword. Its blade, along with that of the Ki Soo, is endowed with the spirit of the Hwarang warriors of old. The blade is said to be sharp enough to slice through lesser metals with ease, and has been blessed by a High Shaman with the will of the Gods. Along with the Ki Soo, the Ki Kum is a magical weapon given only to the inheritor of the Hwarang warrior?s legacy.
Both are depicted below in Haneul's grip.
Appearance:
Haneul is a tall, noble figure by appearance and demeanor. He stands at a tall 6?1?, and weighs little more than 170 pounds, which is made up of mostly defined muscle. He has broad shoulders and long legs which give him a very long appearance all around. Spread across his strong body is a dark, tanned skin. Rough and usually dirty from travel and hard work, Haneul is surprisingly unkempt for a nobleman. His body is decorated in battle scars which he takes deep pride in as trophies. He gives little care to other?s opinions of him or his appearance.
Despite this, and his usually dusty appearance, Haneul is a handsome man with strong and defined features. His jaw and bone structure is sharp and elegant. His eyes are a dark green, which his opponents and admirers both compare to shining emeralds. His black hair is long and normally messy, reaching down to his mid-back. This is only do to his lack of interest in getting it cut. Usually, Haneul is seen wearing an intense, even fierce expression on his face. Many believe this is because he is in anger at all times. The truth is that he is usually just uncomfortable with his surroundings, being away from his home in Korea for many years. Haneul is constantly moving and seeing new places. He is rarely in a place where he feels comfortable or at ease.
Haneul is always seen wearing the battle-dress of the Hwarang warriors. In addition to these clothes, he is normally wears a dark-orange traveling cloak. He caries a deep sentimental love for these clothes, because they are all inherited gifts (save the cloak, which was a parting gift which his adopted sister made for him). Due to this value he places on the garbs, Haneul, in what is seen as a very strange act, will normally strip his upper-torso of clothing before going into combat just so he can preserve the ancient threads as long as possible. Along with these clothes, Haneul straps his spear, Ki Soo, onto his back with a brown-leather strap. He also carries Ki Kum in a lacquered wood sheet at his side.
Personality: Haneul has been described as an unpleasant individual to be around. Due to the fate of his class and lineage, Haneul carries around with him a deep resentment for both his home country?s government establishment, and foreigners. The latter is due to the constant invasion and attacks which have cursed his country and people virtually since their origins. Either from the northern Mongols, the Chinese from the south, or the Japanese from the east, the Korean people are constantly either at war with either themselves or with invaders trying to attain their land.
So Haneul goes through his life, trusting no one. Betrayed in spirit by both his own kingdom and those outside of it, Haneul lives in constant suspicion of others. Haneul respects very few things and people in this world. Those things being skill in fighting, courage honor, and his now deceased Sahyun (translated as Master). Haneul despises both foreigner culture and Confucians. His dislike for the latter being it?s suppression and mistreatment of the warrior class, which was formerly highly regarded. Despite his dislike for foreign culture, Haneul will normally learn remedial words from the country currently serving as his host. This is simply for survival needs, so that he may eat and find room and board for the nights he is near a town.
Haneul?s constant scowl and deep anger towards his surroundings has led many to label him as a constantly and naturally hateful person. This, however, would be a misjudgment of his character. Haneul has a large amount of emotion to be expressed; however, only two people in his life have ever received his positive emotion. These two people are his Sahyun and his adopted sister, Kwak Ji. While the apple of many women?s eye, Haneul?s pride and honor have never allowed him to stray from the path of his mission in order to pursue any woman proactively. A true enigma of a man, few people ever ask of his background, and Haneul is never one to tell tales.
Combat Tactics: Haneul?s fighting style is the Korean art of Hwarang-Do (translated as Way of the Flower Knights). The Hwarang, being a tribe of warriors accustomed to fighting on their feet against mounted and/or numerous opponents have developed a highly acrobatic fighting art which incorporates high jumping and flying attacks against their opponents. As well as these flying attacks, acrobatic spins and flips are also common. Both ornamental and purposeful, these flying spin attacks can both strike out at multiple opponents at once, and generate a great amount of crushing and cutting power behind them.
Haneul?s opponents are overcome by an array of impressive, relentless strikes, which have been described as a raging storm of kicks and blades. Just as talented (if not more) with the use of his bare hands and feet in combat, Haneul will usually not resort to using his weapons unless absolutely necessary or against a worthy opponent. This is due to the amount of honor Haneul takes in possessing these legendary weapons.
The core of Haneul?s fighting style is constant offensive strikes blended into acrobatic spins and leaps which overwhelm the opponent(s) from all angles at all times.
Special Skills: Haneul?s weapons, Ki Kum and Ki Soo are said to possess the will of the hundreds of Hwarang noble-warriors within them. Due to this, these weapons are said to have unique magical capabilities unseen in normal weapons. These capabilities, however, remain unseen by anyone living other than Haneul himself.
Bio: Haneul Yong was born on the southern tip of the Korean Peninsula in the land formerly known as the Silla Kingdom. His mother died giving birth to him, and so Haneul would be raised by his father, a lieutenant in the Joseon army. Haneul?s and his father, Choi, belonged to a formerly noble clan of warriors in Korea?s history. His father himself raised by tales of their family?s golden age passed these stories down to Haneul as a child. Raised to be a prideful and honorable young man, Haneul?s world was forever changed when his father was executed by the government for unknown reasons. Many said he had been a saboteur in league with the Japanese invaders, but those who really knew Choi understood it to be something completely different.
Haneul had been conspiring with a group of other high ranking officers in the military to overthrow the King in order to restore the country back to its former state of noble warriors. However, some how or another, the group was found out and swiftly punished. Haneul never knew the truth of his father untimely death. He never had time to question the direction of his life, as he was orphaned to the streets of the city. He was only ten years old. His time as an orphan would not be long, however. A few short months into his forced hard life on the uncaring streets, Haneul was found by an old friend of his father?s. A middle-aged ex-soldier named Hyun Joon.
Hyun adopted the rebellious and uncooperative Haneul, and took him into his family along with his wife. Due to his wife?s inability to have children, the family gladly accepted the other wise hateful youth. Hyun recognized in Haneul the spirit of a warrior, and decided to pass on to him the title of Last of the Hwarang, the noble knights of Korea. Hyun had kept the traditions and arts of the lost warrior class alive himself, after the title had been passed down to him by his master before him. From that day forth, Haneul would begin his training as a warrior. From that year on, Haneul suffered a strict regiment of training under Hyun. Through physical and mental improvement, Haneul?s disciplinary problems slowly faded as he accepted Hyun as his Sahyun.
Over time, Haneul grew and matured into a warrior of the finest caliber. Brought up under the values of honor and courage, these core values would serve to guide his life. Haneul would eventually embody all of his Sahyun?s teachings and master the ways of the Hwarang. On his eighteenth birthday, Hyun passed on his title of Last Hwarang down to Haneul, bestowing him with the legendary weapons, Ki Soo and Ki Kum. Overcome with pride, Haneul thanked his Sahyun and on that day, dedicated his life to following the ways of the Hwarang. Shortly after this, while taking a walk through the streets; Haneul witnessed a young girl stealing food from a local shop keeper. After the shop keeper realized what was happening, he quickly chased and apprehended the girl. The girl fought and struggled with all her might to escape the man, but was unsuccessful. In an attempt to punish her, the shop keeper raised his hand to strike the girl, but was stopped by Haneul. After paying for the girl?s expenses, Haneul took her home to Hyun, just as Hyun had done with him. The girl, Kwak Ji, was accepted into the home with grace. She was, just as Haneul, a rebellious one. Eventually, however, the kindness and protection provided by Haneul and the Joon?s softened Kwak?s personality, revealing a kind hearted young girl.
Time passed and things where good for that time. Then on one faithful day, everything in Haneul?s life was changed again. While walking through town, Hyun witnessed a restaurant being robbed. The criminals where quickly defeated by Hyun single handedly, much to the happiness and surprise of the restaurant patrons. Unbeknownst to him, a Joseon general was also attending the restaurant and recognized just who and what had saved them. Later that night, the Joon home was raided by military soldiers. Hyun was convicted of sabotage, and arrested immediately. Haneul attempted to fight, but was ordered down by Hyun, who peacefully went on much to Haneul?s dismay. Hyun was summarily executed the next day. It was on that day that Haneul made another oath. He promised to himself that he would overcome the wicked government which had destroyed the two most important people in his life. With his sword and spear at his side, Haneul bid Mrs. Joon and Kwak farewell, as he set out on his journey to discover the means to defeat an entire kingdom by himself?
Shortly after he began his journey, Haneul learned of an ancient and all powerful sword which would make its owner practically invincible. He immediately pursued the story?s origin?
Name: Marcus Sorrel
Age: 27
Nationality: British
Class: The Monk
Weapon: [Mace-Walking Stick]
Marcus uses his walking stick as his weapon. His walking stick isn?t in fact one at all, it is a wooden pole with a metal ball on one end and a blunt spike on the other. In battle Marcus uses the metal ball [which he would usually grip when walking] to knock out his opponents. The smaller blunt spike end is used for retrieving objects or pin point attacks.
Appearance:
Marcus?s face is pockmarked with small scars and indents, his jaw is square and his brow is heavy. He does not care much for his looks and never has. He will keep himself tidy however; he keeps his black hair short and sometimes grows a small beard. He has a medium muscular build although this is not evident because of the loose fitting robes he wears. Underneath his long brown robes he will usually wear just a simple form of every day dress. A silver cross dangles from a chain that is tied around his waste.
Depending on his mood Marcus may have his hood up or down. It is drawn over his head more often then it is down. Marcus walks with a slight limp and so supports himself using a walking stick given to him as a gift. His limp gives him the appearance that he is a frail old monk, he also hunches over on purpose. In actual fact his apparent frailty is nothing more than a ruse. Marcus is in fact actually quite fit and very healthy. His robes may change in colour from a dark brown to a black and sometimes on the rare occasion white.
Marcus usually holds an expression of disinterest on his face. He has seen his fair share of things and events or people rarely excite him these days. Some people may get an occasional inquisitive eye brow raise from him.
Personality:
Marcus is generally laid back and easy going. He seems uninterested in things on the whole. Despite any hard ships he may have endured he does not look bleakly upon the world. He does not automatically try and convert everyone he meets to his faith either. He believes that to be wrong, everyone has the right to believe what they want. Marcus leaves the preaching to others. He rarely gets emotional, believing many things are just not worth getting that worked up over. He has seen many things but still considers himself to be ignorant when it comes to most matters.
Marcus loves nothing more than to sit and just do nothing but be left alone with his thoughts. He doesn?t mind company though and enjoys a good conversation or two. Marcus forgives other easily but he does not forget. If you cross him he will forgive you but his eyes will never leave you for as long as you are in his sight. Trust and loyalty are two things he holds in very high regard. He trusts quite easily but that degree of trust is dependant solely on the actions of person in question. Marcus can be tenacious at times, a trait he has tried hard to be rid of.
Combat Tactics:
He refuses to kill in battle and prefers to just take his opponents out with a few well placed hits. His old and frail façade is lost in a fight and his true self emerges. Marcus uses agility in conjunction with his mace-like-weapon to
dazzle and render his enemies unconscious. Whatever happens to his enemy after they fall unconscious however is none of his concern.
Special Skills:
Marcus is skilled in the art of healing. He keeps various herbs with him that are capable of helping the body to heal much faster than naturally possible. He is careful when using his techniques because of many reasons but most are fear orientated. Marcus can also sew wounds, clean them, strap limbs and perform other basic duties.
Bio:
Marcus grew up in a wealthy house hold. He was eldest son to Sir Sorrel of 4 children. Marcus? childhood and early adult years were spent mostly in study. He was taught how to fight by some of the best instructors known to the British court. He was dedicated to learning anything that someone was willing to teach him. He enjoyed horse riding the most. Marcus found he had a soft spot for the creatures and was quite talented at riding them. By the time he was 17 he had five horses in his possession, his most prised was a black stallion.
Marcus felt that through the course of his life he had a certain obligation to protect his three younger sisters. If one of them got into trouble he would always take the blame regardless. Harriet was the youngest of his three sisters and had always been there for him. As much as he thought it horrible to say, she was his favourite. Harriet would always follow him around and bring him tea; she would even look after him when he was sick. They were the best of friends.
One fateful day Marcus was returning home from a long mid morning horse ride, when he found his other two sisters out the front of their grand house crying. There had been an accident. Harriet was brushing one of his horses when it became spooked and struck her in the face with one of its hind legs. The resulting force of the blow sent her flying into the stable wall where she struck her head. She did not survive the accident. Harriet?s death was a pivotal event in Marcus? life.
After she died the house hold became some how colder, hollow, a vital piece was lost. She was their sunshine and now she was gone. Marcus always blamed himself for the accident; he had never allowed her into the stables without himself present. Harriet never ever needed to prove anything to him, and that was what upset him the most. To escape his beloved sisters passing Marcus allowed himself to be carried off to civil war along with his father.
The civil war lasted many years and Marcus was an adult by its end. It was during the final battle when his side suffered defeat that Marcus would truly come to value life. After defeat Marcus, his father and all those who were left alive were taken for execution by order of the king. Marcus found a reason to live while in prison awaiting his death. He would live life for his sister who was robbed from him and find some way to avenge his side?s losses. Marcus also found God in prison and vowed to devote the res of his life to religion once his goals were met.
With the help of some others and his father Marcus escaped prison and ultimately execution. Despite all his strength he could not free his father before his execution date and so watched helplessly as he died. He later formed a small resistance of a few men who felt the same as he did about the current king. Any hopes of stating a rebellion or otherwise were quickly dashed when they were found out and their hideout raided. Most of the men that were following Marcus either died or were captured and sent to prison.
Marcus considered that the last straw, he would do what he had promised the lord years ago and be done with killing. He became a monk and begun to life a life of relative seclusion, he had finally found some measure of peace. It was during a visit into town when Marcus heard men tell stories time and again of a great sword that could lay waste to entire armies. If such a weapon existed its evil could not be allowed to continue.
-I apolagise if there are any mistakes, I'll fix them tomorrow. Hope this is ok DH
