RPG OtakuBoards Survivor 4: Team Argo [E]

Well we have not heard from Allamorph yet and unless one of you really wants to be the one, I will volunteer for our team. Part of me is curious, part of me is nervous about what Sandy has in mind and part of me wants to be the one to find out just what he really has up his sleeve. So let me know what the two of you think.

[FONT=Arial]I'm sorry for not posting here so far [I](today)[/I]; I had classwork I thought was due?which turned out to be otherwise?and typing that ate about two hours this morning, I got caught by a very good question in the Anthology for the brief time I was actually able to get on, and pretty much from now on my Tues./Thurs. are shot all to H-E-double hockey sticks. I will have maybe an hour free at ten this Thursday. Maybe. And then I'm not off until about 7:00-10:00. P.M., even. (This is a really interesting year for the trombone studio.)

I beg your pardon? Where did that come from? I can see so many different twists that [COLOR=Magenta]Sandy[/COLOR] might throw at us that I don't know whether to volunteer or not. Besides, he said basically nil about what the volunteer will be expected to do, or even if the others on the team are going to be the ones playing around the volunteer (don't ask), so I can't make a comfortable decision.

Basically, I [I]would[/I] volunteer, but [COLOR=Blue]Mom[/COLOR], you got there first, and you're the captain and what, so I leave the final call in your hands. I'll be just as happy playing as I will be watching. (Nothing like ambiguity, eh?)[/FONT]

[size=1]I think Sandy is going to make the volunteers switch side, or possibly form a new team altogether. I don't know anything you don't, good sir, it's just my speculation. If that's the case, which I think it is, it would be best if Allamorph or myself volunteered instead of Mom. If the volunteering member is removed, we'll be without our fearless leader!

Anyway, it's just something to consider. If Allamorph won't have the time this week to be very active, then I'm willing to go in his place. I'll leave the final decision up to our captain, though. She hasn't failed us yet.

But yeah. The only thing that would concern me would be if this's another speed challenge. Without time constraints, I'll be okay.

I just hope I don't look back at this post and think I shouldn't have done so.

I haven't a clue what Sandy is going to do and I wonder if we are worrying too much. So I will send my pm and volunteer and see what happens. I thank you for the vote of confidence, even after we lost the last round. So lets come in first this time. :catgirl:

So, unless I have to pick someone right here and now, would anyone like to participate in being our speaker against abortion? I'll need someone to raise their hand today, as how Sandy didn't say when we had to announce who'll be doing this.

[size=1]I'm really going to miss having Kathy on our team, but welcome aboard Tiana! Allamorph and I are quite friendly, so I think between the three of us we can have a lot of fun here.

Anyway, my problem with this first round of debates is that I'm Pro-Choice, so I don't know if I'm qualified to argue against abortion. If nobody else is able to do so, I'll step up to the plate, but I don't know if that's a very good idea. I would be more comfortable debating in a different topic.

As always, it's our captain's call, so I'm willing to do whatever Tiana feels is neccessary. :whoops:

[FONT=Arial]This challenge will be interesting, not because of how well a player can argue/defend, but because it will be interesting to see how particular people adapt to the sides they're given. Whether or not one actually agrees with the topic one is defending is quite irrelevant?courtroom lawyers run into this scenario all the time. The debater's job here is simply to attack or defend a particular standpoint against [U]any and all[/U] possible arguments to the contrary, and the better one can do this, the more cases one can win. Some might even hold it an advantage to disagree with the side they are arguing for, since not only do they have research that can aid them in their defense, but they can also anticipate arguments against the standpoint and refute them; essentially, it's the flip side of "you are your own worst enemy".

I realize that [COLOR=Magenta]Sandy[/COLOR] wants us to be up and mobile as soon as possible, but I would very much like to hold for a few posts, since I unfortunately know nothing about you, [COLOR=Blue]Tiana[/COLOR] (incidentally, my call name for OB S is [COLOR=Blue]Shade[/COLOR], but you don't need to use this if you don't wish to), and next to nothing about how you think.

As for the current topic, the only thing that makes me nervous about arguing it is that I am a ... ummm ... well, I'm a guy. Small jurisdictional problem there. I would be absolutely fine with taking this round, except that I think there'll be a better one I can handle later. You, on the other hand, are in a little better of a situation than am I.

Seeing as how you know a lot about trials, it would be a good idea to wait until there's a mock trial that you can go on your full potential. Since you are a guy (which doesn't really matter) and probably would have a hard time on this one. As for Shy... I'm sure he wouldn't mind if I took this one on, either.

So, I guess this is it. I'll be the one to take up this case and stand for what I (or we, for this matter ;] ) want to make happen.

Tomorrow morning, I shall make my opening statement and hope to get the jury's votes from there. Root me on and help me through this, my team and friends, as how I want to let us win and let us be a force to reckon with.

If there are any objects, please, feel free to let me know. I'm a bit new at this captain thing and probably don't know what I'm doing. All I know is that I want you guys to have faith in me and support me all the way. :]

[FONT=Arial]Sorry I've been silent so long. I had some odd business come up, and then college life is constricting my time as well. I can't faux spam as frequently as I used to (:p), and my spring break is going to start about four days after everyone else's. Yippee.

Anyway, I believe a Good Job is in order for [COLOR=Blue]Tiana[/COLOR], even if she didn't win the round. It was a rather complex issue to handle, and much easier for the other side, I feel. (Not considering opponents, mind; the stance itself is easy to attack from and defend. Nature of the beast.)

Anyway, since this is shaping up to be a rather uninvolving round for all those...well...uninvolved, perhaps a bit of idle conversation is in order. I liked the questions bit that [COLOR=Blue]Josh[/COLOR] introduced earlier, but I feel it now somewhat exhausted, and so we're left with just kind of talking.

I'm most looking forward to more challenges where the team works together (as opposed to just individual members, like the current one.) Beyond that, I would like to see the pacing of the game speed up, but I understand from personal experience how these things begin to taper off after a certain amount of time...

I am slightly confused as to the resolution, though. Since the Mercenaries won, awarding both us and a third team would not provide for multiple losers, unless something interesting went on in the points. I do not mind the decision either way, I am only perplexed.

As far as expectations go, we've seen skills drawn on from the Debate/Arts/[SIZE=1]random searching[/SIZE]/writing domain, leaving us with several options for challenges. I actually expect a few more skill-based sections to come up; perhaps more writing, or even sparring (???). Given that this is the fourth Survivor [COLOR=Magenta]Sandy[/COLOR]'s run, I fancy much more ingenuity from him than I can come up with.[/FONT]
