[size=1]Hah, no, it's cool. I guess we just didn't understand your wording or something. Now that it's all figured out, all is well!

Because our group is so interesting in the sense that we have a wide variety of characteristics and personality traits (some people anime-obsessed, some musically inclined, some for theatre and film, etc.), I think I'm going to make a little comic series based around [b]The Laugh Out Louds[/b]. Naturally, we'll be the main characters. It'll just be for fun and it'll give me something to do here on my day off :)

[b]Edit:[/b] Okay, team, the new challenge is up. This is going to be a toughie, especially if you guys are busy at the moment and don't have a lot of time on our hands. The easiest way I can see it is to split it all up evenly. There are [b]96 Pages[/b] in all, as Sandy stated. According to my horrible math skills, that means 19.2 pages for the each of us. If we cut the pages down to 95, it'll be 19 per person. I'll be willing to take that extra page, unless someone else really wants to do it. Haha.

So my idea is We all have selected pages to take care of. We all do our part and take care of those pages and we'll post here with our lists. Then it's thinking time from there out to come up with our "spectacular name." It can go as followed:

[FONT=Tahoma]This event was a race against time, and despite doing Kitty's assigned pages by accident, i had the time on my hands so i persisted to do yours as well DW since I wanted to make sure we didn't get last. Darren was on the same time as I was searching the square so I took it upon myself. My apologies for this, but this event is much different from the first.

This event might have been as teamwork oriented as Sandy thought had he not added in the "Race The Clock" stipulation, as feelings of rush tend to motivate others to do what they can. Sakura pretty much did the Titan's whole thing for them, so it isn't the most abundant example of a single member overtaking another member's area.

Again, I apologize. I sincerely hope future events involve massive teamwork as I really joined up for that aspect of the event as much as i joined up to meet new people. Fastest team wins isn't a scenario that really works out too great on here.[/FONT]

Well this just bites. Of all the times to get a challenge that requires racing when I was not able to get online all day due to my schedule. :animesigh How can I vote for someone when the whole thing was in my opinion a poor challenge? Fun perhaps, but not suited to the environment of an online challenge. However it seems that Aaryanna_Mom already addressed this in the main thread and since it has been made clear that speed and time will not be an issue for the remaining challenges I sincerely hope the next one really does advocate teamwork.

And since I have to choose, I will send my vote, even though due to the constraints I don?t think anyone deserves to be voted out. So no hard feelings? Even if I am the one chosen in the end.

We must pay the penalty, so let's get through it to get this ball rolling again. I will send in my vote in a bit, it is a shame though...I still believe we make quite a team.

As for the others, [color=darkred]The Mercenaries[/color] have been significantly wounded with the loss of arguably their strongest members in Gavin and their captain Crystia. With only 3 left, they are gonna be swinging for the fences to get on track. [color=blue]The Titans[/color] are on the verge of repairing themselves, also significantly IMO with the impending addition of The Boss. He is a worthy addition and puts their team right back into the race. We must not yield however.

A win will be important for us for the next challenge.[/FONT]

I went through the pages you were assigned as well and was like "Damn, this must have been frustrating for her", lol. Though it did turn out the S was on page 45. So let's start talking about how to go about this. We have to consider cast, storyline, theme, title, how we should go about writing it out, etc etc. We have quite a lot of time though so let us make ample use of it. We should engage heavily in discussion and deliberation over each aspect of what should go into this before we go ahead and try to get things done.

[size=1]I know, BK! This is right up our alley, being film makers ourselves. Plus, it's comedy! I write movie/play scripts all the time! I'm very excited, haha.

Okay, I have a million ideas for movies I've never gotten around to writing--and they're all comedy. So I can definitely throw some ideas out for you guys. Let's see what I have in my idea book...
[list][*]One idea is more of a style rather than a theme. The humor style, that is. It'd be a certain way and very abnormal, as if the laws of physics don't exist. This style is often used in shows such as [b]Scrubs.[/b] Things on that show tend to happen that definitely not occur in real life, so it makes it fun, interesting, and constantly unexpected. It's definitely a good style to choose from.
[*]One idea I've actually used before several times when writing short stories for classes was one about a guy named Tash Hoffard, who is the coolest guy ever and everyone loves him. He's the most popular guy in the world and reknowned everywhere. There isn't a soul that doesn't know him. It'd be an interesting character to play with, if we had the right idea to go on. One story he was involved in was where he was given the keys to the world. The left key opened any door in the world, but if the right key was used, for some odd reason a portal to another dimension opened up. Long story short, he accidentally used the wrong key, opened the portal, and was flung to a dimension that is exactly like ours, but no one knows him. Tough love :P
[*]Another idea that I was actually going to use as an OB story on here once was two guys are about to graduate high school as nobodies. They're not even nerds... they're just not known. No one knows them or knows they exist. It's their senior year and they decide it's time to become somebodies. So they begin hatching plans together to become the most popular guys in school, which, of course, has several failures until the very end when they either are still nobodies or they actually succeed. It can go in many directions.
[*]Another idea was a humorous knock-off of something like [b]Grease[/b], minus the music. A whole classic love story about a rebel and good girl with a humorous twist. This is a very undeveloped idea and was just thrown into my idea book one day. You can elaborate on it if you wish to.
[*]Case of mistaken identity can always be fun. We can write a story about a washed-up loser who has no job, no money, no friends, and is just a real mess. His only friend (who is actually quite rich) finally decides to help him out by telling him to stay at one of his apartments in the city for a while until he gets back on his feet. He's given the keys and told the apartment number. He gets there, the door is already unlocked, he goes in and makes himself comfy. The place already looks used. He didn't care. It's a step-up for him. Anyways, throughout the movie, he keeps getting visitors and running into strange people who do several unusual things (such as a girl who keeps confessing her love for him, her angry boyfriend who wants to beat him senseless, some mafia member who says he owes money, etc.). Turns out, his friend told him the wrong apartment number and he's actually in the crappy apartment next door owned by a guy who skipped town only days before the events. A simple case of mistaken identity = comedy gold, if done right.

One of the first few ideas I had once seeing the challenge was about spoofing some kind of pre-existing concept and warping it into something different. Though something much wittier then something like, say...Scary Movie or something like that. While those movies had their funny parts they aren't exactly the epitome of comedy to me.

So of the suggestions you gave I think our version of [b]Grease[/b] might be fun to do, though it probably wouldn't be my first movie choice. I like the idea of doing a [b]Clerks[/b] kind of situatin as well, like let's say with myself and DW as employees somewhere where we must deal with irate and disgruntled customers and be put in awkward situations and whatnot. Peanut as DW's caring girlfriend with a shady background (something like 37...you know whats, for those who saw the movie =P), Rach can be a stuck up activist or something who is strongly against our selling of something (not cigs like the movie, something like...i dunno, condoms or something like that) and talk about how sex is wrong and immoral. Sandy can be our boss who we piss off and play pranks on or something. Etc etc...

We are asked to bring much originality to the table, so we also don't have to be bound by the common themes of a comedy, we could very well combine comedic themes with others, such as any of the others the other teams have, or a romantic comedy, or even an abstract sci-fi comedy. [spoiler]Or hell, if we can get a fix on what another team is doing, we can make a spoof off of their script, lol.[/spoiler]. If we can find a theme that we are all proficient in contributing to, it would be for the best since the challenge involves every member of the team doing some writing.

I'm definitly all for giving us character names too, as opposed to using [b]Dragon Warrior[/b], [b]Kitty[/b], or [b]BKstyles[/b].[/font]

[size=1]Yeah, the [b]Clerks[/b] idea isn't too bad. I once made a movie called [b]Dead End Jobs[/b], which had that kind of concept, but it was about two guys (Miles and Gobi), who die and end up having to work in a convenience store for all of eternity. It was my best movie to date, I think.

I find romantic comedies actually very interesting. [b]Just Friends[/b] is one of my all-time favorites as is [b]Wedding Crashers.[/b] I think if we can think of a concept somewhat along the creative lines of movies like those, I think it'd be great.

So some choices so far are: Clerks-style and romantic comedy. I'm sure we can think up more than this. But I like where this is going. Perhaps a satire on film noir even.[/size]

[FONT=Tahoma]What bothers me a bit is that our of all the themes, ours has the least amount of room for originality and creativity. The limits can really be pushed with a superhero story or a dark thriller, we have to make sure that we don't get caught up in the aspects of the script that mean to make it more creative so much that we lose track of the comedy aspect. We'll have to work a little harder to make this script quite appealing.

We can tackle a romantic comedy or a spoof or satire style comedy, but we definitly have to add a little kick to it. Perhaps portraying us as non-human characters or including some kind of fantasy aspect to it involving non-human characters if not us. These are just examples of course, but i'm thinking we definitly need to add a couple of abstract elements to score points on the creative side. [/FONT]

[size=1]That is all true, BK, but then again, our theme is quite a wide category. Comedy is a huge genre where it can actually contain any other genre imaginable. A thriller cannot be a comedy, but a comedy can be a thriller. See what I mean? So, truely, we have more freedom than you think.

Still, I agree. But we need to first come up with a genre of our comedy, so what do you guys really want to do? Come out and say your favorite type of comedy? It can be romantic comedies, satires, spoofs/parodies, original comedies, fantasies, modern comedies, dramatic comedies (dramedies), etc. Once we choose a genre, things will be more easier.[/size]

[size=1]Well, BK and I plotted a little bit and we thought of a kind of "get out of this sticky situation" plotline. It follows the misadventures of two people, who are unfortunately tossed into the wild world of crime and occupations galore! Here's the real jist of it: Down-on-his-luck DW decides he needs to get in good with his boss, The Boss (go figure), because lately he has been skating on thin ice. He plays a poker game with The Boss himself, knowing he is an excellent card player (despite him sucking at everything else). Unfortunately again, The Boss is better and beats DW. DW had bet a lot of money and now owes a load of cash he doesn't have. He escapes and runs into a regular guy named B.K. (Brian Kerry) Smith, who happens to be confused by the mafia as an associate of DW's. So The Boss decides B.K. must help DW get the money or they're [i]both[/i] dead.

With a small window of time, DW runs off to find a way to get some quick cash with BK. Of course, you, Rach, are placed as a member of this mafia who follows us the whole time to make sure we don't try to skip town or anything. BKstyles thought it'd be nifty to call you something like 88 Keys, like in Dick Tracey, only with the number of keys on a Harpsicord or something.

But the main focus of the idea is that B.K. and DW get random jobs through the movie to try and get money in time. They're abnormal jobs, though, since they pay the most and quickest. One was Knights For Hire, where they get hired to slay dragons, rescue damsels, and etc. So we end up having to save Princess Peanut and her maid Lady Kitty from a dark castle. Then we can insert some comedic romance here with me falling in love with Peanut and B.K. falling in love with Kitty.

We're getting loads of ideas, but we're running them by you guys here. We want to know what your input is. If you have any ideas, please do share! Or if you don't like something, particularly about your character, tell us what to change. But I think we're on the right track.[/size]

I am [i]extremely[/i] horrible when it comes to decision making, so I'll leave all that up to the big dogs (meaning DW and BK, seeing as Rach and I have similar takes on this particular challenge). However, I will comment on the story you have so far for us, lol. It looks like it could be pretty funny, especially if DW adds some of his oh-so-memorable comedic style. x3

I'm glad you have included Peanut as a character. It wouldn't have felt quite right without all of the original LOLs included. The rest of what you have reminds me of Shrek, though. Not that that's a bad thing, or anything! It's just the first thing that came to mind, most likely because of the being Knights for Hire part. Still is a fun sounding idea, though. :'D

I see BK as a character that's rather unenthusiastic and generally useless for the most part because he wasn't originally in trouble until he ran into DW. And with a pessimistic/sarcastic DW who's used to failing at things, I can see the two of them taking jobs and doing them absolutely [i]horribly[/i]. How they'd keep getting jobs is beyond me, but I'm sure we can come up with something. xD;;
