Stranded II:
The Game

In the early 21st Century, the world got to a point where it was entirely hooked on reality TV. Every nation in the world had its own, from Big Brother in the UK, to Survivor and The Amazing Race in the USA, and almost every man, woman and child was addicted to these shows. They would rush in from school and work to catch up on the latest, they would watch live footage on the internet, and sometimes they would even skip work and school to watch the live footage on the television.

So, in 2019, the United Nations decided to use this powerful media tool to their own advantage. They composed their own reality TV show which would capture the hearts and minds of every single person across the globe. Taking elements of many other shows, they combined them all to create a show that, while entertaining billions of people, would also take care of other problems.

It was simply known as "The Game," and the contestants had no idea they were playing it. They were dumped on a desert island after being given a serum to induce an amnesia that would last for up to three weeks depending on the person, and left to fend for themselves.

The last person surviving would be the winner. But there were obstacles, both man-made and natural, to keep them occupied. But they would discover this in time...

---

Welcome to "Stranded II: The Game", the follow-up to my successful RP "Stranded." However, if you did not follow the last story, then do not fear. This RP is completely unrelated to the last one, and is only similar in concept.

This time around, people are dumped on a desert island, with no memory of why they are there or who they are, and left to fend for themselves. You will play these people. Many characters will die in this situation, and that is what keeps the world audience watching. The majority of the contestants will die, whether it is from natural causes, hazards or the wrath of other contestants, but the winner is offered a glorious prize.

And what is this prize, you may ask? This will be revealed when someone has won The Game.

So, without further ado, let The Game begin!

---

Here is what I need from you in terms of a sign-up. Instead of the usual sign-up sheet, I am looking for a short piece of writing from you. This should include the following within the piece:

Name (if you can remember it!)
Appearance
Personality

The rest of the things usually included in a sign-up sheet will be revealed over the course of the RP, as your amnesia serum wears off.

I realise that I have not given much information in this thread, but this is simply because I think it makes the RP more exciting if there is a lot of stuff to find out within the RP. It makes what you are getting yourself into more exciting.

There will be swearing and violence in this RP, but please nothing too extreme. I don't want random strings of swear words just because you can - please use cursing as appropriate. The violence should also not be too graphic.

If there are any questions about anything I have not mentioned in this thread, please PM me and I will let you know.

Thank you for your interest, and LET THE GAME BEGIN!

I thoroughly enjoyed the first Stranded. Let's see if this one'll be as good.

(What an ending, huh?)

There I was, lying on the patio of a beach-side cabana, holding a beautiful, raven haired Latina in my arms. I could feel her smooth, bare skin pressed against my own. Both of us were dressed only in our bathing suits. The setting sun warmed our bodies together as we gazed into one another eyes. I could see a man in the beauty?s dark eyes. He had short auburn hair with lifted bangs in the front, similar dark brown eyes, and a large jaw line with European features. It was me.

Neither one of us spoke. We both listened to the subtle, peaceful sound of the ocean waves lapping onto shore. Her fingers crawled over the top of my back and caressed the back of my neck, pulling my head down into a kiss. I closed my eyes as her lips pressed against mine; I could feel her tongue sliding into my mouth. As soon as her tongue penetrated my lips, I tasted a disgusting amount of harsh salt in my mouth. The taste filled my mouth, causing me to start coughing and choking fiercely.

I quickly opened my eyes in panic, sitting up to vomit a small amount of salt water onto white sand. I began looking around my surroundings and found myself sitting in the middle of a tropical beach, the tide splashing onto my hands. White sand coated my otherwise tanned skin. I truly was shirtless, revealing a healthy, toned body. The only clothing on me was a pair of worn-camouflage shorts and black Nike-Shox track shoes. Looking up to the sky, I squinted my eyes to avoid the brightness of the sun. It was a deep blue sky. It couldn?t have been past noon. I sat for a moment and attempted to remember why I was here. But the more I thought, I could only come back up with more questions. I couldn?t remember my past actions, my age, not even my own name. My mind was scattered and confused. I became scared and frantic, desperately questioning myself as to whom I was.

I jumped to my feet and starting looking around, hoping to see some sight that would insight a memory. I found nothing and started to mutter to myself. ?Damn, damn, damn? damn it to hell!? I cried out, only to be met by echoes and the sound of scattering birds in what appeared to be a jungle or rain forest further onto the land. Then I became aware of something in the right pocket of my camo-shorts. Reaching into the pocket, I withdrew a small yellow piece of paper folded into a square. I swallowed hard while I gazed down at the paper. Opening it up slowly, I began to read out the message written on it.

Welcome to the Game, Michael.

?The hell ??? I thought to myself aloud. I was racked by yet another question. But at least one question was answered. ?I guess my name is Michael.? This knowledge gave me peace of mind on a small level. Michael? I thought to myself.

Taking a deep breath, I began clearing my mind of all the frustrations I was feeling. Suddenly, I felt energy flow through my body and looked on into the jungle with determination. There?s gotta be someone out there that can help me? The thought gave me power to move and take action. Taking one last gaze back into the ocean behind me, I set off on foot towards the green mass before me.

It was time to get to the bottom of all this?

Hope this is all good.

Ooh, writing-based. What fun.
[strike]I'll get mine up tomorrow; I just want a chance to mull, but I also want to throw my name in here.[/strike]

But of course, mon capitaine.

---------------------------------------------

?Ooh, my head.

His eyes opened groggily, then snapped shut as sunlight seared into them. His head twisted to the side, and his body followed the motion, rolling him onto his stomach to avoid the glare. His head swam, and he found it difficult to think straight. ?What the hell did I drink?

It took him a few seconds to notice the sand he was eating, and he pushed himself sharply to his knees, coughing and spitting. The light still hurt, so he shielded his face with his arm, letting his eyes adjust until he could look around without blinking so durn much.

The ocean lay before him; the beach he was on stopped about six feet in front of him, and the water stretched completely to the horizon. He looked to his left, then stood and turned in a complete circle, seeing nothing but sand, the sea, and some vegitation behind where he had first been facing. Dumbfounded, he glanced down at himself.

He was wearing a loose grey t-shirt over his moderately built chest, khaki shorts, and a pair of generic athletic shoes. There was a white tan line on his left wrist in the shape of a watch; it must have been taken. Oddly, he couldn't remember what the watch had looked like. Then it occured to him that he didn't even know what he looked like. He waded out past the surf line and studied the water's surface.

A lightly tanned face looked back at him. His hair was brown and close-cropped, his features were firm, and he could barely make out the gray color of his eyes.

?That's odd, he thought. ?Why don't I recognize myself? And who am I? He dug through his pockets; nothing. No wallet, no keys, nothing, except a small sheet of folded paper. He drew it out and opened it.

"Welcome to the Game, Marcus."

"The Game?" he spoke aloud for the first time. "What game?" He remembered his name, then. He was Marcus?how could he have forgotten? Of course, there wasn't a lot he actually could remember right now....

Then shalt thou bring forth that man or that woman, who have committed that wicked thing, unto thy gates and shalt stone them with stones, till they die...

- Deuteronomy 17:5

He coughed and spluttered into consciousness, feeling some fluid gargle up from the bottom of his throat. He spat it out, and saw that there was a splatter of blood on the sand in front of him.

Wait a minute...sand? How did he get to the beach? He couldn't remember a thing...where was he? What was his name?

He got to his feet shakily, and, feeling the soft sand beneath his trainers, he decided to take them off and feel the sand between his toes. As he unlaced his black Converse All-Stars and placed them on the sand, removing his socks and balling them up inside the shoes, the sand felt good on his feet. It felt natural, he decided.

Looking up and down the beach, he couldn't see anyone else there. There were footprints coming from a few metres away and going back, and a trail between them, almost as if the two people walking had been dragging something along with them. He followed the trail with his eyes and saw...

He was the one who was being dragged. The trail stopped at the exact spot where he had been lying and the footprints turned around and headed back the other way at that exact point as well. He followed the trail a few metres and saw huge imprints on the sand, long, thing markings, almost like the skids on the bottom of a helicopter.

He suddenly felt a wash of heat run through his body, and unbuttoned his white flannel shirt. As he unbuttoned it, he saw some strange markings on his chest and stomach, markings that he couldn't understand. Looking at his muscular arms, he saw similar markings there, except these ones he could read.

Welcome to The Game, Phil...

"Uhn.." The groan had escaped from the mouth of a seemingly limp body laying peacefully on a beach. It was a young woman, her hair dyed an unnatural shade of electric blue. She blinked several times, until her eyes remained open to reveal them as a stunning emerald green. Rolling onto her back, she slowly pushed herself up into a sitting position, spitting out sand she had breathed in while unconscious. She tried wiping the annoyingly persistent sand from her face and arms, but there was still plenty remaining when she gave up.

"I hate sand," she growled to herself. She suddenly felt very warm, and noticed the sun was emerging from behind the few clouds that scattered the sky to target her pale skin. Her eyes narrowed as she looked up to the sky, and she decided it would be best to get into some shade. She instinctively wiped the sand from the back of her white t-shirt and tattered jean shorts, despite having decided it was futile only a minute or so ago.

"... Wait a minute..."

It had finally dawned on her. Where the hell was she? She began to look around frantically, searching for something familiar, but to no avail. She was surrounded by unpromising ocean on one side, and an intimidating forest on the other. Tears began to well in her eyes as she slowly succumbed to her panic, the realizations piling up on her all at once.

What the hell was she doing here? Where was her home? Why was she alone? Why couldn't she remember anything? And what was... What was her name?

"What is my name?"

She stared at her hands, then at the flip-flops on her feet, and then at the hair that had fallen from behind her ear into her face. They were familiar. She remembered them. She let out a sigh, abandoning her attempt to figure it out. She convinced herself that it was useless, and she might as well get under some shade before she got a sunburn. Despite the indescribable feeling she got, she continued her approached towards the darkened trees. Climbing over a few fallen branches and through some bushes, she soon felt the relief of the shade.

"So... What now?" Another thought popped into her head as she spoke, and she realized she was talking to herself too much. She decided to keep her remaining questions to herself, rather than share them with the dark and foreign foliage. But as she examined the green bushes and trees around her, she noticed something out of place. Something that didn't blend in. It was a white envelop, with its flap poked through by a low-hanging branch. Immediately, she ran towards it, hoping against hope that whatever was inside it would tell her what to do, or who to look for, or, at the very least, who she was.

In her excitement, she didn't watch her feet, and tripped several times as a result. Still, the scrapes and sand that now covered her skin couldn't stop her from reaching the envelope. Tearing it down with obvious enthusiasm, she stared inside to see only a small slip of paper, about the size of a fortune in a fortune cookie one received at a Chinese food restaurant.

Welcome to the game, Rara...

"Rah-rah... That's my name..." Her hands fell to her sides, still tightly clenching the slip of paper and the envelope that had contained it, as a smile broke out on her face. Suddenly, she was skipping about and dancing, shouting happily. She knew her name. That was enough to keep her happy, and sane, for the time being.
This sounded like a really interesting concept, so I thought I'd sign up. :3

I feel like I'm floating. But it's cold. All I hear is water. This is strange.

The thoughts skipped across his mind with a certain vagueness that one would hold between the sates of consciousness and deep sleep. Feeling rather foggy and dizzy at best, rolling over again to go back to his dreams seemed like a good idea at the time. That is, until a rush of seawater flooded over him, filling his nostrils and deafening his ears.

With a sputter and a yelp, he sat up in the shallows of the cold receding wave, scrambling to his knees in the wet sand as another foamy wave rushed around his aching sides. Despite how comforted he felt a few moments before, he now felt as though he had been out on an all night bender. What did he do, go out drinking and pass out on some random beach only to be awoken by the incoming tide?

Following that train of thought, he paused. Since when did he drink? Or live near a beach? Did he actually live anywhere near the ocean at all? And why was he there? Better yet, who the hell was he?

Panic slowly began to set in and the young man scrambled to his feet. Splashing through the shallows to the shore he couldn't help but notice that there was no one else around, as far as he could see anyway. He rubbed at his bleary eyes, thinking that the salt water impared his vision, when in actuality he couldn't see at all. At least he knew which way land was, and aiming for the white smear of sand that lay in the distance he trudged onward, frowning at the discomfort of wet clothing sticking to his skin.

Once he had reached the shore, he dragged his feet a few more steps and collapsed face first onto the warm and dry sand.

"Ow..." He murmured, wincing as something hard pressed against his chest, rolling over lazily, he patted the front of his white cotton shirt, fingers digging into a chest pocket and pulling on the first thing he felt. It was a pair of horn rimmed glasses.

He eagerly pushed his sandy hair from his eyes and slid the glasses onto his nose. A perfect fit, and the scenery was now crystal clear. With the notion that other usefull things would be hidden somewhere on him, the young man began digging at all of his pockets, only turning up wet scraps of paper that had runny, unreadable ink upon them.

"Damn..." He tossed the scraps aside into the sand, placing his hands in his lap to look at the ocean before him. It would have been beautiful had he not been dumped in the middle of nowhere without a clue as to who he was or why he was there. He was about to hang his head low when he noticed that something was fastened around his neck. On further inspection, a flat tag made of metal was attached to a chain hanging limply around his neck.

Hope seemed near until the young man glanced over the seemingly random numbers printed onto the cold steel. They didn't make any sense to him at all, but perhaps they would hold a clue as to what was going on around him. He would commit it to memory as he forced his thin wiry frame to stand.

Jeez, that seemed a little longer than it was supposed to be. Ah well, neat concept!

 • 2 weeks later...
Alright, after much deliberation, I have decided that I am not going to let this die. Therefore, if we have to continue with only 5 characters, so be it. I am going to post the opening to the RPG proper in the Square shortly, but I will be leaving the recruitment thread open for a while to allow anyone else who wishes to join to do so.

So, get ready for The Game to begin!
