jomz
Okama!Sanji gives me the creeps... But man, that chapter was amazing. So... Blackbeard vs. Magellan is next? Hmm...

Magus
A little shocking.. (While it wasn't ruined, I did find out ahead of time at another forum.) But then again it don't change that this series is starting to lose its steam for me. I knew it was only a matter of time before this happens too. This could also be the fact that I hate it when one character is being showed entirely too long. I hated this in Bleach and as well as Naruto. This is a series with a large amount of characters, and for me, a break from Luffy is needed.
Ikillion
So I read the latest chapter then realized my head exploded. I don't even know how I'm typing this.
Magus
Tell me about it. This last chapter alone completely makes my last comment null and void. This is how build-up chapters should be done.
Best entrance/appearance ever.
Oda is quite the mind reader or he just knows how to handle character exposure really well. Taking the focus off of Luffy for a little bit was needed seeing how I was beginning to get really tired of seeing him. And now it actually feels quite refreshing to see him again. The events has been quite something although I think it's been a little crowded. Hard to tell what's going on in some areas. But yeah, this is definately refreshing. Gavin
Well I've started a couple of days early but I'm already 20 chapters into One Piece and enjoying it quite a lot so far. Typical shounen fare, I'm looking forward to hopefully seeing more of Shanks, dude is rather awesome, although between the three Straw Hats so far there's a good deal of coolness. Am I the only one who hears the spring sound from Sonic when Luffy stretches his limbs as an attack or to move ?
Magus
20 chapters in... That takes me back seeing how I thought the early chapters were pretty slow. I didn't really get hooked until
Sanji
(I'll use spoiler for now) came into it. (The 40-50's I believe) Edit: The ch. spoiler was partially correct, but most of it was wrong. _____________________ Thought I'd try to revive this since it's pretty much underappreciated. (Which is understandable in a sense) Anyway, this entire arc has been really nice although there have been quite a few snags here and there as well. (Yeah, I'm pretty much over my One Piece addiction now) The arc look like it's coming to an end soon with
Ace finally being freed. It was pretty epic to see him and Luffy working together.
I don't really keep up with the anime anymore (It's too ugly for me), but I wouldn't mind seeing this arc animated just to see all the new abilities.
The Spectacular Professor
Not only did they kick loads of marine posterior in this last chapter, but
Luffy and Ace
also got not one, but two epic pose moments. This chapter shall be glorified for generations to come. I sure am gonna miss
Whitebeard,
but I suppose it was predetermined that someone's blood had to spill in this arc. Usually Oda avoids it, but with a mission like this, it's just not at all realistic that everyone important would make it through alive. Besides, the man sure as hell knows how to make his exit. Rest in peace,
Pops.
rotlung
well during the whole epic fight
at Marine HQ there are so many "new" or undevolped characters. Oars is a perfect example. I think it's a safe bet to say that he is from Oz's bloodline. Also the First Division Commander of the whitebeard pirates (the pheniox fuirt guy), admiral akainu, and golden leo shirki. All of these guys are top notch pirtates and I'm sure will be a part of future issues.
Right now there is just so much going on in the world at the same time I'm actually scared to think where the series will go from here.
I don't know if they will go back to the crew on thier seperate islands. Follow Luffy to the "pirate summit" that Ace talked about way back in Alabasta. Or have the Golden Leo excute his "master plan" whenever that is.
As for the early chapters, I really saw how much the anime screwed things up in the first 5 chapters. The back story coming much later when they should have just opened with like they did in tha manga.
Also when Zef cut off his own leg to eat it rather than starve blew my mind.
Plus the manga transitions better than the Anime cause the anime has all those fillers. (I do however have to admit some parts that I thought were in the manga weren't and was surprised. So One piece actually had some good filler...) The question I would like to ask is where do u think the series will go from here?
M.Ali
Wow...I haven't actually posted anything in ages....but anyways... This last chapter was pretty great but I gotta say that
Whitebeard's sudden act of martyrdom
was kinda expected to me, it wasn't much of a surprise. Itz just like Ace said,
someone had to die and it had to be an important character
, otherwise it wouldn't make a good plot twist. But the chapter was still awesome nonetheless, especially since Ace got his balls back lol. As far as the future of One Piece, I can't predict whats gonna happen at all and I love it! Oda is pretty awesome with these storylines, so I trust whatever he does with this Manga. But I admit that I do miss the other characters....especially Sanji, he's my fav lol. The Spectacular Professor
My best guess is that the next move will be for
Pops' orphans
to take Luffy back to pick up his crew, then they'll probably escort Thousand Sunny across the Red Line.
As for Whitebeard's crew, Marco is first mate, but he did outright state that he was fashioning Ace to be the next Pirate King. My theory is Ace will either join Luffy's crew out of gratitude at this point (since Whitebeard isn't around to support anymore) or take over the Whitebeard Pirates himself as the new Fourth Pirate Lord. If he goes with Luffy, Marco will probably take over.
After that, I'm not sure. I don't think they'll just be aimlessly floating around with nothing but a Log Pose anymore, though. The New World is going to be even more high-stakes than the last half of the Grand Line, so they'll probably be sailing with real purpose and actual goals in mind. Luffy will probably still insist on a few largely pointless detours once in a while, but overall I think they'll have a lot to contend with most of the time. Any remaining Marines will be all over them, they'll be racing every other pirate in the area towards Raftel, and come to think of it, Dragon hasn't made a single move this whole arc. He's gotta be planning something. As for what I want personally,
Crocodile is free
. Moar of him, plz. EDIT:
It just occurred to me. What with Whitebeard out of the picture, the other three Pirate Lords are going to be at each others' throats. The world as they know it is changing and we've got like three different civil wars brewing. Yeesh, this is intense. On the other hand, Shanks :D. Wonder if Luffy will give the hat back.

The Spectacular Professor
Doflamingo probably had it impounded. Magus
After all the whole Impel Down incident and now this Rescue Ace incident, I'm wondering how much will Luffy's head be worth. Gotta be well into the $500 mil mark.
The Spectacular Professor
Yeah, he's gotta be one of the most expensive guys out there by now, maybe even around Dragon or Doflamingo's level. That's gonna add a ton of bounty hunters to his pursuers. Jeez, is there anyone who isn't after Luffy at this point? Wapol, maybe? Anyway, I've been watching the anime versions of the "Where is the crew" cover stories, which is pretty much worth the watch just because of Hancock's hilariously delusional Luffy fantasies at the beginning of each episode. Not sure if they consulted Oda before mentioning this, but it looks like each of the Straw Hats still have a piece of Rayleigh's Biblicard and are planning to meet up where they lead, just like they agreed. That's anime only, though, so I'm not sure if that's the direction they'll use for the manga. Also, addendum to my earlier theory, since I was reading TV Tropes earlier.
Apparently Marco is dead o_O. Or at the very least, he's not likely to be in any fit condition to captain a ship. Thanks to this, I'm thinking it's most likely that Ace will take over and go for Pirate King himself. On the off-chance he doesn't, though, the Whitebeards might just end up like a headless snake for a good while. I'm kind of starting to feel sorry for them.
FallenAngelGM
I'm thinking about Hancock & Luffy. I really would like to know how this relationship will unveil to be. I believe they fit well together as this union is quite one of the funniest things I've seen in the One Piece universe, but also the cutest as she loves Luffy blindly and despite he's naive, he is so grateful and thankful to her. I wouldn't be surprised if Luffy & Hancock end up being married like Goku & Chichi from Dragonball: by a promise of getting married someday. After all, a future Pirate King needs a bride: Hancock seems the perfect candidate for that. As for the latest chapter we've all red online,
WhiteBeard seems death-set to sacrifice his life for his "children". Man, this is gonna be a great lost for the Pirate empire. As for his successor, Ace seems to be the one who'll take over. I doubt that he'll join Luffy's crew as he cares a lot about the WhiteBeard pirates that he considers as family, especially after what Whitebeard did for him. Besides, I don't think there's enough food on the Thousand Sunny for both Luffy and Ace alone, loll. If Ace takes over after WhiteBeard, I believe the balance balance of force between Marine & the Four Pirates Lords shouldn't be that much changed, but as the adventures in One Piece advance, the world is coming to a new era, indeed. As for the other Strawhat crew members, well they'll eventually join with Luffy with the help of WhiteBeard Pirates maybe. I was expecting them to be part of the battle against Marine HQ, but I think the author did good not to include them in as it seems it was more like a "family matter" sorta thing.
I'm returning to Boa & Luffy and I was hoping her to join the crew, but since they recently had Brook at a new crewmate, I doubt that. Although, Hancock will want Luffy to come back to her to marry, I'm dead certain of that, loll. After this whole incident, Luffy's bounty will definitely be minimum 500 millions Berrys! FallenAngelGM
...No way. Dammit, that may have been pointless.
Tell me about it!
Loosing Whitebeard is as bad as it is, now ACE!!! NOOOO!!! Okay, here are my theories for the next few chapters: -Ace survives by an intervention of Garp, Ivankov or anyone else, WhiteBeard dies on the battlefield sacrificing himself for his "children." For Ace's survival, I'd imagine Marko using his Phoenix Powers to heal him, but again, it's a theory. -WhiteBeard survives somehow, Ace dies. (REALLY DOUBTING THAT ONE!) -Both Ace and WhiteBeard survives, leaving a utterly defeat to Marine HeadQuarters, by the intervention of someone like Shanks, one of the four Emperors or even Dragon (But seeing how WhiteBeard is dead set to sacrifice himself for his "children", I seriously doubt that.) Man!! Ace can't die! It would be so meaningless for all the efforts Luffy and everyone else put, damn it!!!!! One Piece sure knows how to light my heart in blazes!!
Magus
I'm actually a little speechless at the moment. I do agree that this whole war almost feels pointless, but at the same time I just don't know. I hear that Oda stated that this was just the midpoint of this story. So to have the marines actually win the war is seeable. I was wondering how was the marines going to bounce back if they lost, so in a sense it was a smart move to have the marines win... I guess lol.
But if this is the end of Ace, I'd be really disappointed.
But I do feel that this chapter was a little on the weak side. (Bleach might've had the strongest chapter this week for me)

I'm actually a little disappointed in Oda for the first time in a long while. Maybe the
lava beats fire
thing made sense in his head, but to me it was never foreshadowed and just seems like a poor excuse to cause some more unnecessary drama. And yeah, I stand by what I said. If
Whitebeard dies, the world is thrown into imbalance and the entire order of things gets thrown out the window. If Ace dies too, it's just a gratuitous loss with little to no meaning.
I hope he's not trying to pull a Rowling by starting to kill off characters randomly left and right to make up for hardly ever doing so in the past. He's a better writer than that.
Nehszriah
OMG I'M POSTING XD You guys pretty much summed up my reactions to this week's chapter. I was pretty shocked at the ending, because the
magma > fire
thing DOES feel like a cop-out and
I really, really, really want some intervention on someone else's part so that Ace friggin' lives
. If something like that doesn't happen, it better darn well fit in some sort of broad spectrum that we can't see right now because the story is so friggin' huge. I'm also kinda wanting that flashback that was hinted at during the end of 572... because I'm a sucker. XD
