Doublehex
Threads asking for suggestions to be pretty common nowadays in the Lounged; certainly not the point of overcrowding, but they are still pretty frequent as it is. So, instead of having alot of suggestions threads, why don't we just have one thread where people can go to and ask for suggestions? I will start the thread off with an anime I've just started to watch, Trinity Blood. It takes place in the far future, where the Catholic Church (or the Vatician) is a supreme power, along with Londedum (London/England). It is in this same future that Vampires exist. It is a very dark, Gothic series, but at the same time, full of light humor. I highly recommend it for anyone that isn't afraid of the sight of blood. 2010DigitalBoy
You should also include wat crowd might enjoy it. Trinity Blood is a 'meh' to me. Never been able to sit through a whole episode (same as Witch Hunter Robin). Kino's Journey: Almost anyone can enjoy this. It's intelligent, which gives a nod to those peoples. It's got some amazing action sequences with Kino being an ace gunslinger. It's got some blood, but nothing campy and has no sex or even whorified outfits (no skirts, lol). While some episodes are on the slow side, it's always interesting and very well told. Easily it's one of the most unique anime out there, and very much worth a shot to anyone, especially since the CC is real cheap. Some of the tales in this anime will stick as truly awesome. Reccomended to: Fans of interesting shows such as Haibane Renmei or .hack//SIGN, fans of fantasy stories like Jing, fans of any sort of 'indie anime' (my title for this sort).
Andy
I highly recommend giving Death Note a shot if you haven't already. This anime is probably best described as a dramatized/psychological thriller with a dash of humor. So if you like that type of anime, then you should absolutely love Death Note.
Veritas
Something I would recommend is Chrono Crusade. Fairly dark and funny to boot. I'm not all the way through the series but I've liked it thus far. It has some stuff to do with religion, though the series doesn't flat out say it, but it's Christian in base. Throw in some demons into the mix, a loud straitfoward heroin and her kind, protective but hesitant demon counterpart, place it in the 1920's and you have Chrono Crusade.
Allamorph
You should also include wat crowd might enjoy it. Trinity Blood is a 'meh' to me. ------------------------------------------ s?CRY?ed: This series is based in an area called The Lost Ground, formed after a peculiar geological event called The Great Uprising, which occured several years before the series' start. Currently, some humans (less than 1% of the Lost Ground's population) have developed the ability to deconstruct and recrystalize matter at the molecular level in new shapes by mere thought and will. These people have become widely known as "Alter users", and tend to feel superior to other humans because of their abilities. The main conflict takes place between the Native Alters, who live outside the main city of the Lost Ground, and HOLY, the elite Alter section of HOLD, an organization charged essentially with all law enforcement in the Lost Ground; specifically between native Alter Kazuma, the Shell Bullet, and HOLY member Ryuhou. After their first encounter, the two hold a bitter rivalry between them which lasts to the series' end. Kazuma also has a young friend, Kanami, whom he protects and who also happens to be the series' narrator; it is eventually revealed that she posseses an Alter as well?the ability to subconcsiously "scry", or view, the emotions of those close to her, and hence the series' name. As the series progresses, more is learned about the cause of The Great Uprising and the source of the Alter ability, and Kazuma and company must continually fight back HOLD and the Mainland, eventually leading to
a major plot spoiler, so there. (^_^)
s?CRY?ed is a fairly good series with a good bit of action every episode, for those who enjoy that side of things, a well-written plot, and good characters. Occasionally the voice casting is a little aggravating, like in the case of Urizane and Scheris Adjani (pronounced Sha-reese), but aside from that it is, in my opinion, very worth the watch.
Tallgeese-
If you're a fan of old school anime at all I suggest Fist of the North Star, or known as Hokuto no Ken in the Japanese version. Basically it's a story that happens after a nuclear war and it's basically all anarchy and there are gangs and punks around and the strong rule over the weak since there is no government and as you know the good guy kicks bad guy butt, but there is a big story behind it. I also recommend Gundam Seed, if you're a fang of Gundam you'll love it, I just finished watching it and the way characters change and the story unfolds is just great, I can't wait to see Gundam Seed Destiny.
