P.J. McKrafty
Ty sat at his station watching the security monitors. The mall was surprisingly full for a Tuesday. the other guards were patrolling the mall and Ty was stuck with watchman. Basically he sat in a room and if he saw anything he would report it to the others over the radio. It was the most boring job in the security profession. Ty was just about to go get coffee when he saw something over the monitor. A man stumbling through the foodcourt and he seemed to be bleeding profusely. Ty called the paramedics and called out over the radio, "We've got a badly injured man in the foodcourt, we need someone down there," He waited for a response and then a voice came over. "I've got it, how bad are the injuries?" Rico asked over the radio. "It looks pretty bad, you need to get there fast," "Meet me there with a first aid kit," Ty jumped up and grabbed his radio and med kit. He sprinted through the mall and met up with Rico in the foodcourt. They met up and found the man sitting at a table with three people trying to help him. He was holding his arm which was bleeding very bad. The man seemed to be in his late 40's. The wound looked like a bite, from what seems like a rabid animal. "MALL SECURITY! We will handle this please back up, get out of the way," Ty called out pushing people to the side. He approached the man who was moaning and losing consciousness. "This isn't right, he has an advanced infection in this wound, it looks like it has been weeks since he contracted it," "How is that possible the wound looks brand new?" Rico asked hovering over Ty as he bandaged the man. Ty looked at Rico and shrugged. He went back to bandaging the man. The man looked up at Ty and wheezed, he eyes seemed to loose all life. He rolled back. Ty checked his pulse, nothing, He wasn't breathing either. "He's dead," Ty said closing his eyes. Ty came to his feet and Rico called over the radio asking for security to cordon off the area. They stood looking at the body, something wasn't right he paled way too fast and he didn't seem like he had lost enough blood to bleed to death. The infection was the only liable reason. Ty and Rico were filling out the report back in the office when a call came back on the radio. "HE'S UP! THE MAN IS BACK UP!" cried the voice of one of the guards. Ty and Rico ran as fast as they could to the food court where the man was. He was stumbling about, all of the guards giving him a lot of distance. Ty and Rico approached the man. Rico reached out to the man. "Hey are you ok?" Rico asked grabbing the man's arm and turning him around. The man's eyes were completely white and his skin reflected that of the skin around the infected bite. He then dawned a look of anger. He made a hissing noise and lunged at Rico. Rico struggled with the man, they fell to the ground, Rico struggling with the man trying to get him off. Before Ty could intervene the man had sank his teeth deep into Rico's shoulder. Ty grabbed the man and pulled him off of Rico throwing him off of him. The man stumbled to his feet and turned toward to Ty, he started to approach Ty. Ty drew his .44 revolver. "STOP!" he called out. "STOP OR I'LL SHOOT!" The man kept coming Ty shot the man is his left leg. The man fell top the ground but then started to get back up. Ty shot him in the right leg and it had no effect. Ty was astounded at the man's resilience, the other guards were amazed that the man had taken two bullets and were stunned from the occasion. Ty backed off and fired two shots in the man's chest, still no effect. Finally in a last attempt Ty he shot his final two shots in the man's skull. He fell limp, this time for good. The paramedics finally arrived examining the body and declaring it dead. they also took Rico off to the hospital. That was the last time Ty woud ever see Rico or live a normal day in his life. Swordsaint
AJ stood hunched over the engine of a black ford ranger, busily tightening the parts in place after replacing them. He chuckled slightly as he mused how easily a machine could tell him what was wrong with it as he worked, his eyes focusing on every detail of the engine. His tools clinked together as he reached for different wrenches, clattering about noisily in the oil covered tool box. The shop, normally well organized, was a chaotic mess since AJ had been working for the last ten hours, flying from one job to the next, quicker than most of the other mechanics on shift could believe. He loved this garage, it was a custom shop called simply "Petes' custom wheels". Normally to get a job here the owner, Pete, looked for people who went to tech schools with a focus on mechanics and engineering. AJ had gotten the job after outdoing one of petes best mechanics at a local mechanics competition of sorts. AJ smiled whistfully as he closed the hood of the Ranger and reached for his water bottle with a grease covered hand. He may love machines, but one drawback to them was that they couldn't give him good food and drink. He glanced to his left as the door opened, most of the employees were gone now, and Erin out front usually locked the doors by about now, so he raised his eyebrows seeing a casually dressed brunette shuffle through the door. "Sorry ma'am but it's about..." he glanced at the clock on the wall, it was 9 p.m. " 9 o'clock now, we're not servicing any vehicles now." the lady kept shuffling towards him, her head downcast. Leaning against the truck AJ sighed. "Look lady, I don't have the keys to open the garage back up...I'll tell you what, if Erin out there says it's okay and opens the shop up, I'll do what I can and call you a cab and you can pick up your vehichle tomorrow, Okay?" The woman leaned against the tool counter as she walked, slowly closing the distance. Billy's eyes narrowed slightly, woudln't Erin have seen this lady? why wasn't she answering him? Finally as she stepped closer, the neon lighting revealed dark splotches around the neck of her shirt, he could even make out dark red crusted in her hair. "Oh my God ma'am are you okay? Did something happen out there?" crap where was erin? Aj rushed to the phone in the shop, he called the front counter where erin should have been. He got nothing but a few rings. He flipped back towards the woman. "Ma'am wait here, I'm gonna go find the manager and call for help ok---" The woman had raised her head to gaze on him now, her eyes dead white and crimson blood, crusting and fresh, ringed her gaping mouth. A pained wailing moan filled the silence as a creeping sense of dread wormed it's way to AJ's gut. "Look lady...you stay right there, I'm calling the cops." The woman opened her mouth to moan back at him, her shuffling steps quickening. "Stay there!" AJ circled around the truck and darted for the door, noting the woman slowly turned to give chase. He was through the swinging door in an instant, using his only key to lock the door. He took a few deep breaths as he walked through the break room into the front. Aj snatched up the phone and dialed 911. Immeadiately a voice came on the other end of the line. "Hello 911 what is your emergancy?" "There's a woman here at the shop I work at, I don't know what's wrong with her she might be in shock or something, but she has blood all around her mouth and in her hair and..." He stopped as he saw blood start to pool at his foot from under the counter. He gulped, vaugely noting that the operator was asking him for the address. "I think she attacked one of my co-workers," rounding the desk, AJ found Erins' sprawled form under her the counter, bleeding from several bite wounds, most of which had taken large chunks from her neck, arm and stomach. "Oh Christ! Send an ambulance! Trace the call or something!" He dropped the phone, digging frantically for a first aid kit, anything that could help, even though a small voice whispered to him that she was already dead. AJ tensed as soon as he heard the footsteps behind him. He looked slowly over his shoulder to find his boss walking towards him, that bite wound he'd gotten bandaged a day ago had fallen off, revealing the rotting flesh beneath, his eyes dead white like the other woman, though his skin was grayer. Aj took off going through the door, running for his blue 63 Chevy Super Sport, He slammed the door, twisting the keys making the engine roar to life. He took off for his apartment a few blocks away, never feeling more terrified in his life. How little he know, how much worse things were going to get.
The Enemy
Yuri was counting the money from the till that day. He was just about to close up shop when a man walked in the doorway, causing the little silver bell above it to ring. Yuri looked over and saw a middle aged man stumbling around like he was drunk. He simply shook his head and said "Alka-Seltzer?s are in the back." The man lurched towards the back of the shop where Yuri?s employee Erika was sweeping. Yuri called back "Hey Erika can you help that guy find something to help him sober up?" Erika answered from behind a shelf "Sure thing Mr. Orlov" After a few minutes Yuri got a strange feeling, he knew something was wrong, Erika knew what to look foe she'd been working there for a while, and the drunk shouldn't take that long o find his way back to the counter. Yuri walked around the shelves and into the aisle Erika was in. What he saw almost made him throw up. Erika was simply walking to the Alka-Seltzer but the man behind her was deathly wounded. Now that his chest was revealed Yuri saw several rips in his shirt covered in blood, a thick stream of it ran from the injuries down the mans jeans, leaving a trail in the floor. Yuri's eyes went wide as the man lunged at Erika, he simply yelled "Get down!" Erika dropped to the floor and put her hands over her head. Yuri grabbed a low grade baseball-bat from a near-by rack and slowly approached the man. The man himself was still slowly walking forward. "Hey buddy how about you just leave, I'll call an ambulance for those cuts you got there." said Yuri The man didn't change paths, he was now only a foot or so from Erika.Yuri yelled this time "Sir! You must leave! Do not try to attack the girl again or I will stop you." The man tried to hunch over Erika to pin her down. Yuri dashed to him and hit him in the shoulder with the bat. Erika screamed and Yuri ordered "Erika go get the pistol from under the counter" upon seeing the man barely take effect from the hit. The bell over the door rang again. Yuri didn't look back, not until he heard Erika's blood turning scream. Then he ran as fast as he could back to the front door, there standing before him, was another man. This one barely 18, he held Erika's lifeless body in his arms. Yuri noticed the boys nails were digging into her arms, making a drop of blood from each fall to the floor every few seconds rhythmically. He saw a large piece of flesh had been ripped from her throat, making a river of blood poor from the veins, down her back. This was the most blood Yuri had ever seen, including in surgery shows on TV. He almost threw up again but caught it in his throat, leaving it to burn and sting. He jumped the counter and coughed up another close call puking, when he heard Erika's body drop against the floor. Quickly he grabbed the pistol on a shelf under the counter and grabbed the clip in a drawer next to the register. He loaded the gun as fast as possible with his trembling hands and tear soaked eyes. Not too long after both the man and teen were walking around the counter. Yuri popped to his heels and screamed "Take this you fucking bastards!!!" Firing 7 shots into the mans head and then 7 into the boy's. Yuri kept pulling the trigger pointing at the two fallen bodies but the gun only made a slight clicking noise. He dropped it, and walked over to Erika. Her well formed body sitting in a relative lake of red. Tears flowed from Yuri?s eyes as he was forced out the back door by another three stumbling people coming threw the front. He ran to his car and jumped in smashing the door shut. Then he sped to his house knowing he had more weaponry there, in the old country Yuri was a pro sports hunter, and always liked having a firearm or two around his house to remind him of his old home. Muad'Dib
Gary sat at home, head in hands, staring at the TV screen as the eleven o' clock news played. He didn't hear much of it. On the table a few feet away lay a letter. He didn't look at it, because each time he did, he felt a desolate finality. It was the last letter his brother had sent him from his army post one state away. He had gotten the call just two hours ago from his mother - Jared was dead. Killed in Action. The letter itself mentioned an odd assignment, not far from Gary's home, something to do with a contagion. Nobody was giving any details. Feeling profoundly alone, Gary got up and grabbed his jacket. He needed to walk. The streets were dark and quiet. Nothing ever happened in this neighborhood. But Gary got a strange feeling, a chill, like something terrible was happening. Something terrible had happened, he reminded himself. He didn't even notice the dilapidated man next to the street lamp until he was right next to him. Gary looked up, expecting to see one of his neighbors. In the next moment, the stranger had him by the shoulders, mouth open wide, and something like a gurgling howl coming out of his throat. Panicking, Gary managed to get his arm under the man's chin, stopping the progress of his jaws towards Gary's throat. Finally, he got a good look at his assaillant. The shock was almost too much. Dark, oxidized blood caked the man's face, dripping down from a long gash in his head. The skin on his arms was ghost-white, blue veins standing out in the harsh lamp light. In a desperate act of self defense, Gary grabbed the knife he kept in his jacket pocket and slashed the man's arm. It seemed to startle him and his gip loosened, but as soon as Gary backed off a step, he was back on the attack. Gary struggled for what seemed like hours, always evading those knashing teeth by a hair. In a final horrifying moment, Gary thrust his knife at the stranger's face. The blade caught him in the eye, piercing nerve tissue and cutting a gash into his brain. The man backed off, staggered a moment, and fell backwards. Gary gasped for breathe, stared at the body. There was a grotesque bite wound on his side, the skin around it rotted and purple. In sudden nausea, Gary turned aside and leaned his arm on the lamp post. When he stopped throwing up, he looked around frantically for a phone.
DaSilva
At last the minute-hand slowly came back around to the 12, as the hour-hand rested on the 6. Kent had gotten detention the previous day, and decided to serve it so he wouldn't have to go home so early. "Is this the last time this is going to happen?" Mr. Franklin asked."Do you mean the last time I do it, or the last time I get caught?" came Kent's reply. "Because I'm probably not going to stop skipping class, and I'm definitely not going to quit smoking.""I'm sorry to hear that Mr. Morrison." "Please, call me Kent," Kent said."Don't be a smartass, son," Mr. Franklin said. "What are you talking about, sir?" asked Kent. "Get the hell out of my office," the vice principal calmly said. Kent stood up, walked toward the door, and before leaving turned and said, "I hope you have a fantastic night Mr. Franklin. Tell your wife I said hello." "OUT!" Mr. Franklin shouted. Kent stepped out of the door and headed down the hall. All of the sudden, a familiar figure popped out from around a corner. "Jase! Whoa, you scared me there for a second. Could you unlock the door for me? I've got to get out to my car.""No problem Kent," the janitor said."Thanks man." Kent told the tall stocky janitor. Jase walked over to the door and unlocked it with his massive key ring."I'm on the way out myself," he said."Ah," Kent exherted. They both walked out the door. Kent spotted his car in the distance. They walked few yards out, when they noticed something. It was a figure, limping through the lot."Shit," sighed Jase. "Another guy here after hours. I hate getting rid of these people. Dammit. I'll catch up with ya later Kent, you head on home.""Alrighty," Kent replied, "Take it easy.""Will do." They both went in seperate ways. Kent toward the car and Jase to the limping man. Finally, after Kent had traversed the expanse of the lot he got into his car. He really felt sorry for Jase, having to go after that guy. He even heard him screaming at him. Kent turned the keys to his dad's red sedan and the headlights flicked on. The man and Jase were fighting! Kent put the old car into gear and accelerated over to where the two were. He jumped out of his car and ran over to the brawl. "Kent, help!" Jase screamed. "The son of a bitch bit me!" Kent looked closer at Jase's assailant. He only saw the back of him, but that was enough to tell him that something wasn't right. The tall figure was a greyish color, and there was a big hole with blood pouring out of it wear its left ear should have been. Without hesitation, Kent ran back to his car and grabbed his heavy metal Mag Lite from his glove box. He ran back over to the right and started ramming the flashlight into the grey man's skull. The thing acted as if it didn't even feel it. Its skull had visible dents in it everywhere. Blood was gushing all over the head. Suddenly, Jase fell to the ground. Blood was gushing from the bite wound on his neck. The cannibal turned around. The thing had no eyes! Kent quickly rammed the flashlight through and eyesocket, straight into the brain. The creature fell to the ground. For a few seconds, Kent was petrified. After awakening from his temporary shock, Kent ran over to Jase. he shook him. "Jase, get up!" he yelled. "Get up!" There was no response. He had to call the cops. But how? He had no phone and the school was locked. The only thing he could do was call from his house. That was the closest place. There were no businesses, or anything nearby. So Kent ran to his car, put it into gear, and sped off toward his house.
P.J. McKrafty
Ty stayed after hours for work, not only to fill out repost but because he didn't feel like going home. Ty watched the monitors and then suddenly the alarms went off Ty look at the monitor to seem three people beating on the door. Ty grabbed his gun and headed downstairs to the doors. He approached the doors cautiously. "Excuse me but we are closed, if you dont leave no I will have to call the police," The people just moaned and hissed like the man earlier. Then the glass started to crack. Ty backed up, "I mean it, leave now or I will call the police!" They ripped at glass and it shattered. all three of the people came charging in, Ty pulled out his gun and shot at the people, shooting one in the head killing him and missing the other two. Ty ran out of bullets and while the two were regaining their composure he turned and ran, The two men got up and took off after him. They started to catch up with him easily. Ty ran into Sports Metropolis trying to loose them. They ran in after him. Ty almost made it into the back room when one of the men tackled him to the floor. Ty struggled with the man keeping his head away from him as he was intent on biting Ty. Ty punched him off of him and reached for something to fight him off with. He found his salvation in a 9 iron that was knocked over in the struggle. He swung it and it collided with the mans skull knocking over and sending him into convolutions. Ty came to his feet and ran into the back room. He locked the door and picked up the phone. He dialed 911 wiping the sweat from his forehead. The machine said all lines were engaged. Ty heard scratching at the door and readied his club. He approached the door and opened it slowly, The man lunged at Ty and Ty struck him in the head too, the man started to get up and Ty struck him again and again in the head until he stopped moving. Ty stopped and was breathing very hard, stunned at what he had just done.
PWNED
As he pulled back into the New York garage that he worked in on his dirt-bike, Hugo was taken aback by how quiet it was, much quieter than what it usually was on a weeknight. No one was around in there which was odd as there was usually a fair bit of work most days because of the sheer number of cars in the city. "Hello?" Hugo called out into the gloom "Mr Sanovich? It's Davies, Are you in here?". There was no answer from his boss and he was just a little bit concerned that there was no one there. Through the quiet came a loud groaning sound, which sounded a lot like the groaning that a drug addict made when they had taken a lot of their preferred drugs. "Who's there?" He yelled as he grabbed an old sledgehammer from the wall as a way of defending himself, they could get very dangerous and unpredictable. The person lurched out from behind a car with blood on his hands and fingers, he had that blank look in his eyes like he was spaced out on something which caused Hugo to move backwards in hesitation. The man refused to back off even though Hugo was begging them to stop, and in an attempt to prevent him from approaching was forced to strike him in the side of his leg with the sledgehammer. The leg crumpled under the blow and the man fell to the floor of the garage roughly. Hugo turned around and patted down his pockets for his mobile, The cops and ambulance guys had to get down here quickly. The moaning noise could be heard again and Hugo just know what was going on, the man was still crawling towards him and Hugo, knowing that the addict could not be reasoned with, bought the sledgehammer crashing down onto it's ribs. He turned around and stagger outside and quickly vomited, he'd never had to do something like that before. Once the bout of Nausea passed, He re-entered the garage and checked out the corpse of the man. As he was examining the body a pair of odd bite wounds were uncovered when he moved some old bandages aside. He bundled up any money and food that he could and packed them into his bag; He was a murderer now and had to get out of there. As he climbed onto his bike and sped off, he didn't hear the man groan again, see the trio of people shambling towards the garage or find the corpse of his boss that was crumpled besides a car. Swordsaint
Aj wretched, leaning heavily against the porceline bowl of his toilet. It was all over the news: People afflicted by...something, Disease, chemical warfare, drugs, brainwashing...no one knew anything other than that dozens of the creatres had been sighted and reported, and a few hundred more had been attacked. At first it had been regarded as a new wave of brutal hate crimes in the low income districts of the city, not really investigated all that much. Then the attacks spread, escalting in number, targets and scope. The mourges where the bodies were interred had been attacked, then they spread like wildfire from their. The police responded going at the...afflicted with their riot gear, only to meet disasterous results. as the afflicted people seem to have taken some pain numbing chemicals. Several policemen were slain in the skirmish, with the afflicted cannabalizing many, and dozens more policemen were injured, reciveing bite and claw injuries. Aj sighed, his stomach seemed to finally be calming down. As far as he could tell, the situation, while horrific, wasn't impossible. The images showed that the creatures for the most part stumbled about, a few even locked as though they were necrotic, falling apart as if they had been dead for some time. He looked to the mostly finished magnum he had on his coffea table near the couch, he planned on putting the last few parts together sooner than he had orgionally though. It almost seemed to him as if the guns parts were telling him it needed finishing for the urgent matters coming to hand. He wiped his mouth as he got to his feet, his workboots clomping hard on the tiled bathroom floor. He sat on the couch, taking the gun and it's few remaining pieces in hand with his tools. He relaxed even more as the machine took on it's final form, smiling back Aj's face to him off the cool, soothing metal. He checked it over, letting the wheel spin before snapping it shut, cocking the hammer back and squeezing the trigger to hear the satisfying click as the parts moved in conjunction. He picked up the six bullets his dad had sent to him from home. Aj found himself almost wishing his dad had sent a box, instead of going for the "Last stand" type of nostalgia, the soldier staring down his enemies as the closed, the last rounds loaded in the gun. Thankfully, he had his toolbelt affixed with hammers and screw drivers. He even picked up his big black and decker drill and buzz saw. A bit heavy to carry around, but he figured his car could be put to good use. He loaded up the beautifull vehicle before going back into his apartment to rumage through, taking his time. Finding nothing else he started back down the stairs, almost relaxed despite the events circling around him. He didn't have much, but the machines comforted him and he was sure a few heavy hammer swings could do some good, it would save him on bullets that's for sure.
DaSilva
Riing...Ring...Kent waited to hear the operators "911, what is the emergency?" or something of the sort...Ring...nothing. He hung up the phone and pulled out his cigarettes and lighter, lit one, and began to think about what had just happened. As he thought, he flipped the T.V. on to the local news channel. "--rioting and hate crimes is one theory. Another theory earlier dispatched was that it was cult killings, but the numbers are too big for that to be the case," said the young woman on the news. "For those of you just joining us, there has been a massive string of murders in the city. Police officers advise everyone to stay in their homes, lock their doors, and arm themselves with whatever you can. These murderers look almost as if they are sleepwalking. They use no weapons, and they are cannibals. Here is some footage from a mall security camera shot earlier today." The T.V. cut to a lo-res video. It showed a seemingly dead man standing up, as two people rushed over to him. The "dead" man bit one of the men, in the same fashion that the man bit Jase, and was gunned down by another. Kent flicked off the T.V. The words "arm yourself" still rang in his head. Kent jumped up and ran to his garage, to grab his dad's machete. Then after he went back to his room and grabbed his .45 pistol, a couple of extra clips, extra ammo, and another pack of Camels. He went back into the living roomand turned his television back on. Kent sat on his recliner, and watched in fear as he loaded his spare clips.
Guest <Setsouke>
Ali laid in her bed once again trying to tune out the world as she listened to the soft music play in her ears. It was getting close to midnight, but again she still couldn't get any sleep. It was lately when she had been having wierd dreams about being chased through the dark streets of her old hometown not too far from where she lived now. As always, in her dreams, she was being chased by something that her mind would not allow her to see...it was as if her mind was sheilding her from something, but from what? Turning this thought over and over in her mind she turned to her side and tried once again to close her eyes as she finally drifted off into a light sleep... "Where am I?" she asked her self as she wandered down an alley with an eerie feeling of being watched. She slowly felt her way around the dark as she heard a small crunching noise coming not too far from behind. "This must be another dream...I've been watching way too many horror movies lately," she justified as she picked up her pace while trying not to hit anything. Around the corner she passed a dumpster and a caged in area when someting caught her eye. Slowy turning her head she saw what looked like a normal dog, but when she got a closer look it appeared as if it's flesh had been ripped off it's body. Not taking any time to figure out what was happening she ran the way she had came...bad mistake. Falling flat on her back she had bumped into something cold and slimy..... Slowly looking up she stared into the face of a human with half of a face. "Ahhhh!" Ali screamed as she jumped out her bed and realized that this was not part of her dream, this was real. Ripping the headphones out of her ear she did the instinctive thing as she pulled out her small pocket knife, which she always kept handy, and yanked hard as she ripped open the mans throat. The zombie fell to the floor in a heap of clotted blood as Ali tried to say calm. With sweat all over her face and her heart pumping fast she slowly sinked down to her bed and tried not to break donw. Taking a couple of minutes to collect herself she finally peeked over and examined the monstrosity more closely. "What the hell is going on?" she asked herself as she wished this was only another dream, but knew better of it. "My dreams were never this real before," she thought as she heard the familiar crunching sound coming from the next room. After hearing it in her dream she wondered would she finally come face to face with what had haunted her in her dreams for the past week...that which evaded her mind......a cold sweat dropped down Ali's face as she clutched the bloody pocket knife in her hands.....
