TheResplendent
In the land of Grateus, man and woman lived together among creatures of lore that one typically only hears about through stories and tales. Winged creatures such as Wyverns that roamed the skies until they were harnessed and Serpents that rule the waters from coast to coast. Many years ago however, magnificent creatures known as Dragons also roamed the land. Massive in size, they could take to the air with their wings or walk the earth in similar affinity. Unfortunately, it was also due to man?s desire for power that led to the dragon?s extinction. Once plentiful in numbers, dragons were harnessed by several groups throughout the years that fought one another for whatever purpose. War is a product of man no matter what era it is in, and the reasons seem to vary as much as we human?s do in physical appearance. As dragons were used as vessels for man to ride into battle, their lives have been shortened by a number of tragedies. Most of which involved all out attacks on dragons and their nests to weaken the advantages of the opposing army. In such expedited executions however, despite being fairly difficult it also effectively diminished the chances for mature eggs to hatch with healthy baby dragons to be born. At the end of what has come to be known as the Continental War, the eastern continent of Kythira and the western continent of Nidorram became almost entirely torn asunder in human contact, following the victory of the forces of Nidorram. In addition, only 19 dragons remained in Grateus after the chaos. Over the next few decades, some began to die out from either old age or wounds that even the strongest curative magic could not heal. Forty years later, with 14 dragons left they were now the victims of assassinations. A branch from the forces of Kythira that fought during the Continental War have emerged after going into hiding, under the leadership of a man named Garai. Garai and his followers sought to take revenge on those who remained from the opposition of the war, as well as their children and the dragons that remained in their keep. A new empire was born after much of Kythira was overrun by Garai and his forces, which grew greatly in number from town to town, city to city, and outpost to outpost. Many were still bitter from the outcome of the war, and forsook hope of one day reconnecting the continents between people in peace. In addition, the people were mostly in the rebuilding stages with hopes of either peace of simply trying to live a peaceful enough life. They were easily convinced that the gaining of power under those who were adept a leadership and tactics in order to intimidate those of Nidorram was truly the right path to reclaiming a dignified life once more. A sudden uprising in power for Garai would have been impossible however if it were just a couple of hundred seeking to form an empire. It was with the help of several inhabitants of Nidorram who were displeased with their status, creating riots and assassinating several leaders of the Western Kingdom that allowed Garai to take full advantage of the anarchy in the capital cities of Pharesh and Khardok. Four of the remaining dragons were killed by a massive nest assault by Garai?s wizards and warlocks. The rest of the continent fell easily with the capitals in shambles, and soon enough Garai?s empire had majority control over both continents with private usage of the ports that connected travel between Kythira and Nidorram. The remaining ten dragons were hidden due to lack of numbers to contest the Empire?s forces. Today, two resistances against the Empire exist on both continents. On the west, the Sapiens Resistance led by Gavlin Leonus. On the east, the Validus Resistance led by Vidarr Kaien. Though there is not much contact between the two, their goals are the same. Private ships are run in the blind spot of the empire with hopes that it can be continued as long as needed as a form of sending messages and communicating. In addition to an agreement made between the two, 5 dragons were granted to the Validus in order to be on equal grounds to fight the Empire. Though recently the Validus has lost their black dragon to a death of natural causes. Each dragon has only one rider, the roles of these riders are incredibly important to the ideals of the resistances and the eradication of the Empire?s influence and hold on Grateus. * * * * * Welcome to Of Humans and Dragons, set in the time most recognized as medieval myth. Where humans are capable of magic and share the earth with many creatures you only see in picture and dream about in dreams. I originally intended for this to be a story, but thought i'd give it a try as an RP and give other's the opportunity to help shape this epic story. You will have an immense amount of freedom within the obvious era restrictions (just remember to keep thinking medieval world of magic and dragons). There will be some minor guidelines as to what should be happening at certain times, but it's up to you to do them and by all means take advantage of shaping the world (keeping in mind some of the already existing features). The chapter posted in the Anthology can be found here (yes, the opening story was taken from this ^_^). It's not required for reading, but in case you're interested or want to get a better idea of how to picture things. By no means must you read it to participate in this RP. * * * * * Important Groups & Information: Sapiens Resistance ? Anti-empire resistance located on the western continent of Nidorram. Formed from the survivors of Garai?s attack on the two capitals Pharesh and Khardok. 5 Dragons in their possession, and their main base is located within a mountain range, along with a small city that is home to many citizens of both cities as well. Led by Gavlin Leonus (Gav-lin, Leo-nus), a skilled leader and war strategist and master archer. Was a former Dragon Rider, but his red dragon was killed in the Empire?s final assault on the main nest. Validus Resistance ? Anti-empire resistance located on the eastern continent of Kythira. Formed years after the Sapiens, main base located within a deep forest with parts running underground. 4 Dragons in their possession, the death of one black dragon of the last 10 was within the Validus?s ranks. Led by Viddar Kaien, (Vi-dar, Kai-in) a muscular powerhouse of a man skilled in a multitude of melee combat weapons as well as his fists. Never rode a dragon but has unparalleled battle experience and holds an angry disdain for the Empire. The Legion ? The Empire?s elite ground force, whether on horseback or on foot these soldiers are heavily trained and relied on for most of the Empire?s attacks, defenses, and raids. Rankings within the Legion range from Third Class soldiers to First Class soldiers, only First and Second class soldiers are trained on horseback. The Legion makes up roughly 65% of the Empire?s army. Legion commander is Sabian Deimos (Say-be-in, Day-mose), a cruel and unscrupulous individual whose most profound area of expertise when it comes to leadership is that of motivation through fear. Many in the Legion admire him for his swordsmanship skills and his tremendous record in dueling however. He is also one of the youngest notable officer in the Empire?s ranks, at 26 years old. He can be quite narcissistic as well, and wields custom made Katana sword as his primary weapon. Wyvern Brigade ? Branch of the Empire trained to ride and attack from atop wyverns. Often used as a calvary, but are also used for waves of attack by air for higher and rougher terrains. Wyvern soldiers are also the most commonly found guards for Emperor Garai?s personal castle. The Brigade?s commander is Gauran Vexler (Gar-un, Vex-ler), he is the most meticulous leader of the empire?s three branches. Known for having the most massive Wyvern ever seen in all of Grateus. Has an intimidating body frame and great strength, on par with that of the Validus?s leader. Wields dual knight broadswords and usually wears heavy plated armor. Arcanists ? Made up of a mix of wizards, warlocks, and beguilers. The purely magic branch of the Empire?s army, though the smallest in numbers are also the most deceptive and most destructive. Rarely ever used on the front lines, the Arcanists typically attack from out of arms reach and eye?s sight. The Arcanists are led by a powerful warlock simply named Riakath (Rye-a-kath). Of elven lineage, he is exceptionally intelligent and is utterly infatuated with destruction and death. It is rumored he is powerful enough to enchant and raise from the dead almost any living thing in large amounts. Uses a jagged ceremonial staff to empower his magic. * * * * * You will be signing up as the dragon riders of the 2 resistances: Character Information: Name: Age: Between 18-40 Appearance: Picture + Description or picture only...the choice is yours. Majority of magic used is elemental (fire, wind, water, earth, ice, lightning) and can be used in defensive and offensive manners, elemental-less damage spells (direct damage), and minor supportive spells like healing and shielding. Sakura
OOC: Whoo, first to sign up. Won't finish tonight because I'm really tired, as you already know. EDIT1: Added description to appearance, changed name, changed age, added description to weapon, added spells (can't be stuffed thinking of cool spell names >.>) EDIT2: COMPLETE!! Filled out both of the personalities and the snippet. Character Information: Name: Evangeline "Eve/Eva" Valentine Age: 23 Appearance: Here - Copyright heise@deviantArt Evangeline stands at about 5'6", an average height, not making her stand out amongst others, with a lithe figure, toned from hard work. The white whispy tattoo around her left eye was given to her when she was a child from her family, marking her. She typically wears a simple Cuirass over a sleeveless tunic, with pants made of thick, tough material (something like denim) and combat boots. Her complexion is a medium tone because she has had a lot of sun exposure but tries to retain it so she doesn't become too tanned. Resistance: Sapiens Weapon: Glaive named Zetsu. Eva is always seen carrying her weapon with her unless she has to leave it. It is about the same height as her, only being a couple of inches shorter than her. She's had it ever since she can remember, given to her as a child even when she was way too small to wield it properly. She was taught with a smaller one, progressing as she got older, but no matter her age, she would still have practices using Zetsu, although being much taller than her at the time. Spells:

Cure [Supportive]: This is a water aligned spell, where she puts her hands over the wound and sends the magic into it, healing from the inside first before working on the outside. It also has the ability to get rid of toxins and infections in the body.
Thunder [Offensive]: Aligned with the lightning element, she can use the electricity in any way she wishes, whether it be through her body or passing it through something else; for example she can make it come from her hands to attack someone directly, if someone is touching her she can charge her body and zap them that way, or she could charge her own or someone else's weapon, etc.
Phoenix Flame [Offensive]: Her last spell is aligned with the element of fire, but her flames appear blue when she uses it. This spell appears first as a blue aura around her, before gathering and leaving her body, shaping into a phoenix made of blue fire which will soar through the skies, being directed at Eve's bidding, doing whatever she wishes.
Personality: Evangeline is the type of person who isn't afraid to speak her mind on any matter that will concern her or Dryoga in anyway. Her personality cannot simply be summarised in a few words. Her regular personality is quite calm, but depending on her mood she could blow out at someone over a simple matter or not let anything phase her. Though after she gets over her mood she will usually strive to find the person she shouted at wrongly and apologise. She's normally a cheerful person to be around and jokes around with the other members of the resistance quite often. Not to say that she doesn't know when to be serious. When the time calls for it she will devote all of her attention to the task at hand, especially with things concerning fighting against the Empire. People that know her know not to play around with her when she's feeling stern. Her emotions are quite easily read because the aura of how she's feeling seems to emanate to everyone around her. Eva's incredibly loyal to the resistance and to all of her friends. She'd do anything to help in the fight in anyway possible, mainly by fighting with Dryoga. She's a strategic type and her mind is constantly whirling, moving in overdrive throughout the heat of battle, continually coming up with new plans and ideas. She's not the type to cut and run and will fight fiercely for what she believes in. Her connection to Dryoga is unimaginable, they can feel each other deep within themselves and don't need to speak aloud to each other, able to communicate through thoughts. Their bond is tight and Eve can't imagine living her life without him by her side, supporting her and comforting her when she needs it. Dryoga is the only person/creature that Eva can say she truly opens to. There's no point hiding things from her partner because he can tell when she's feeling troubled or upset about things. Eva would do anything for him, just as he would for her. When the two of them need to cool off, or just want to relax for a bit they'll usually go for a run, either that or go for a fly on Dryoga's back. During these periods both of them are pumped with adrenaline and just get it out of their system by being active. More often than not they'll run first before cooling down with a leisurely flight where they'll just talk or dwell in comfortable silence. Dragon Information: Name: Dryoga Color: Black Appearance: Here - Copyright el-grimlock@deviantArt Personality: Dryoga is similar to Evangeline in every way. He cares deeply for her and will go to any length to please her, except when she asks him to do things that will ill-befall either of them. He will always strive to protect her at any cost even if it means sacrificing his own life, he would do it in a heartbeat. He's generally cool headed and reasonable, aiding Eva by giving his own opinion on things. But through their bond he often feels the same emotions of Eva, being sad when she is, or angry when she is. His feeling of the emotion won't be as strong, but it will be an incessant tugging inside him that will make him react differently on the occassion. He is her partner and will always be, no matter what happens. Dryoga is in fact a frost dragon, and instead of breathing out fire, he exhales a stream of frosty air that can be seen like mist when exhaling on a cold day, freezing the target on contact depending on how much he actually breathes out. Bio/Snippet: Evangeline laughed loudly as she sprinted through a large empty field, breaking out of a forest. There was a slight crashing sound as Dryoga broke through behind her, four legs galloping across the landscape. She threw a glance over her shoulder to see her partner nearing rapidly, picking up speed. Eva grinned and tried to pump her legs harder, putting in another burst of speed. Dryoga caught up to her and ran beside her, chuckling at her playfulness. Her breathing was laboured and uneven, sweat pouring down her face as she continued to run. Her legs burned from the exercise but she didn't want to stop, it was so exhilerating. Adrenaline flowed through her body freely, providing her with the energy she needed to keep going. Dryoga knew what was coming up in a couple hundred more metres, he sped up a little, which wasn't a problem for him, pulling in front of Eva at a steady speed. At the right time, Eve wrapped an arm over his back and grabbed his neck firmly, pushing off the ground with a grunt and swinging herself onto his back, settling into her usual position and linking her arms around his neck as Dryoga ran off the cliff that was awaiting them. The two plummeted rapidly headfirst, the black dragon spread his wings out, slowing their descent before he flapped and angled himself upwards, pulling them up just before they were due to hit the water. Evangeline laughed loudly, enjoying the experience to the max, with Dryoga smiling in a dragon-like way which actually looked rather menacing, but Eva knew it was a good sign. With a few more flaps of his wings the two were airborne, lifting high into the sky. He pulled off so they were levelled, just lazily soaring, wings beating only so often to keep them aloft. Evangeline sighed contentedly, keeping her legs wrapped around Dryoga's body but leaning back to lie along his plain, crossing her arms behind her head as a pillow of sorts. "Today's been a good day, hasn't it, Dryoga?" she asked him quietly, closing her eyes, just trusting in him. "Indeed it has. Days to just take times for ourselves are always good." he answered in his low voice. "How long is it until we have to get back?" "At least a couple of hours, no hurry." "Mmm...good." she mumbled. The two spoke simple conversations as Eva started to drift into the realm of sleep. As Dryoga heard her breathing even out, he smiled and just continued to fly around slowly, taking in the surroundings. They were flying over an ocean, the breezes from below did well to cool their heated bodies after the running. An hour or so later, Eva woke from her nap and yawned, asking Dryoga to take them home. He nodded and banked gently, heading back toward land and to the Sapiens' base.
Ozymandius Jones
Done, I believe. Looking forward to this quite a bit. =D Character Information: Name: Samarkan de Locke Age: 25 Appearance: Sam Sam is short and compact; not muscular, but no weakling. His hair is dyed red at the tips, and he paints his face in alternating slashes of brown and red along his jawline. He wears a total of four rings - two on his ring fingers, two on his thumbs; gifts from friends and family - a veritable plethora of leather straps around his wrists, and a good luck charm on a long leather lanyard around his neck. He also paints his nails dark brown, and files them to points, something he claims he does just because it "looks neat". Resistance: Validus Weapon: Twin rapiers that he sheaths over his shoulders; he also carries a slingshot as his one form of long-range weaponry. Spells:

Impetus Flammus [offensive; fire]: The ever typical offensive fire spell, in the form of flingable fireballs, flame-coated swords, and flaming punches. Granted, his main impulse when doing anything other than the flaming swords is to get said flame away fast as possible.
Aegis Phoenix [defensive; fire/air]: A shield of flame surrounds him; it can stick close to his skin, or be flattened out into a "wall" of flame.
Flamma Intendo [supportive; fire/air]: Flames - generally only visible to his eyes, but viewable by others when he and they are concentating - in the form of doves travel where he should aim or travel. He finds this spell very difficult, and it creeps him out at times, since the doves look real.
Personality: Impulsive, clingy and slightly immature. Sam always means the best, but doesn't often think before he acts. He has a hot temper, but it cools down almost as fast as it flares up, leaving him regretful and even ashamed of things he may have said or done. He follows his friends around like a puppy, eager for attention, almost to the point of being annoying, but won't stop following when the going gets dangerous, loyal to the point of death. In our world, he might be considered hyperactive, never content to be still unless he's sleeping. He loves being goofy, and practical jokes, and talking. Lots and lots of talking. He's also highly superstitious: he believes in bad luck, omens and blessings. Dragon Information: Name: Sadalbari Color: Red Appearance: Sadalbari Personality: The opposite of his rider and his element, Bari is calm, cool and collected; not easily alarmed, distracted, or angered. He has a dry since of humor, and is a bit on the arrogant side. He is old, and views Sam as having a lot left to learn, a fact that Sam finds infuriating in its accuracy. When Bari is angry, one can barely tell, he controls it so well; but he is to be feared when he's angry, since it happens so rarely. Bio/Snippet: Samarkan de Locke dodged through the shop to the sound of a very angry shopkeeper throwing something at him, something that knocked - apparently - something else off of a shelf...or two...or ten...he managed to jerk the door shut just as a jam jar slammed into the old, time-darkened wood, shattering and spreading strawberry jam over the door's window. He chuckled to himself, and pushed the door back open a tad. "Sorry, miss, I'll pay for it next time I'm in town, yeh?" The only response was an angry, wordless shriek and the shattering of another jar. He winced, and pulled the door back shut, shrugging his shoulders as he headed back into the alleys of the town, clutching three fresh cheeses and a loaf of bread. He heard a deep, soft chuckle and looked up in time to stop before he walked straight into the scaley red chest of Sadalbari, who merely raised a talon to poke at one of the cheeses. "Visiting Melinda again, are we? Next time we're in town, she'll bar you before you get a foot in the door..." Sam flushed, twisting off a hunk of bread and stuffing it in his mouth, chewing angrily and protesting through his mouthful. "Oi, you shut it! She wouldn't do no such thing..." He drew himself up to his (rather unimpressive) full height and squared his shoulders. "Next time we're in town, I'm going to ask her if she'll..." the last part of the sentance came out in a rush. "...you know, marryme." Sadalbari merely chuckled again, bending to let his rider scramble up his side and onto his back."Ah yes. Marry the infamous cheese thief..." "Shut it!" Sam managed to protest again, though he almost wanted to laugh. rediculous, yeah? Yeah...
Disenchanted
[Whee Finished XD I might post a colored version of Era later, when i get it done. Edit 2: Took care of some faulty grammar] Name: Alek Yager Age: 23 Resistance: Sapiens Appearance: Alek ©xiaomeimei@deviantArt Alek stands approximately six feet tall. He is muscular but not to the point of being overly bulky. His eyes are a beautiful violet color, much the same as his dragon companion. His complexion is very pale, hinting that he doesn?t see a lot of sunlight. He wears a long black leather coat over a pair of black trousers and a dark gray tank top. Round his neck he wears a thick black leather choker and two other silver chains. On his left wrist he constantly wears a black leather archery arm guard, the guard wraps around his entire forearm. On his right hand, his index finger and middle finger are encased in armor [click]. He wears thick black boots on his feet that are surprisingly light weight despite their appearance. In battle Alek removes his coat to give his arms more freedom to shoot arrows. Alek?s arms and upper chest are covered in black tribal tattoos. The tattoos begin on the right side of his upper chest and flow along his right arm and right hand; the tattoos start part way down his left arm and cover his hand and fingers. Alek has a set of special straps worked into his jacket to hold his quiver and bow. Underneath his jacket he always wears a set of leather straps that can hold his quiver, bow and arrows as well. It is designed to give him complete freedom and flexibility in battle to shoot correctly. He wears light leather armor when fighting; metal armor does not give him enough flexibility to move. The armor is strong enough to deflect arrows but would not stand up to sword at all. Weapon: [Bow and Arrows] ©Sunna-no-gaara@deviantArt His bow is always with him, attached to his back or held in his hands. He will not willingly set his weapon aside and can become quite hostile if asked to remove it. The bow itself is made from a special type of black wood that is very strong but also has flexibility; it has some metal in parts. Alek?s arrows are made from the same material, with a metal point. Alek relies completely on his weapon; he always has and feels some kind of special attachment to it. Spells:
[Strike] [Offensive] A typical lightening strike-type attack, Alek can combine the lightening with his arrows. In effect this attack can deal a double blow of physical damaged and electrical damage. The spell can be used as a simple lightening strike besides being combined with Alek?s weapon. He cannot make the electricity flow though his body however; it can only be combined with a weapon or used as a ranged attack. [Squall] [Offensive/Defensive] Alek can summon a powerful blast of wind. This blast is usually used to create distance between himself and his enemies or another person. The blast can vary in degrees of severity from a strong wind to an extreme gale. On the ground it serves to knock other back if they get too close. Alek can use this spell to potentially knock others out of the sky, or at the very least make it extremely difficult for them to fly. In effect this spell can act as a defensive and offensive spell, depending on how it?s used. [Storm Arrow] [Offensive] If Alek, by any chance, runs out of arrows to fire he can summon wind to form instead. Alek must fire the wind arrows as he would a normal metal arrow. The wind arrows are misty in appearance, one cannot really see them very clearly but they can be felt. A wind arrow can deal as much damage as a normal arrow if not more. Storm Arrow can be combined with Strike to deal a lot of extra damage but it drains a lot of energy.
Personality: Alek is a very serious person; he does not joke often and glares at others annoyingly when they do. He his quick to anger and won?t hesitate to scold someone for doing something wrong, a trait which often ends up with him in peoples bad books rather quickly. Alek is not a mean spirited person but he certainly appears that way to others. He will joke around on occasion; but his drastic change in attitude usually arouses suspicion, so he doesn?t do it often. A lot of his actual ?jokes? are taken has harsh criticism or unkind comments. Alek likes to think things though and not go running in head first. He was not always that way however, as a youth Alek was quite head strong but certain events caused him to change his tune rather quickly. Despite the way he may come across to others, he is fiercely loyal and very protective of his friends. Alek can be very out spoken, and will usually speak without any regard to the feelings of others. He tells it like it is which often doesn?t sit too well with people, especially those ranked higher than him. In battle Alek is forever calculating, if he doesn?t like how the odds sit he will recommend to retreat. Alek would never abandon anyone in battle though, he would fight with them to the end, even it was utterly hopeless. He is very agile on his feat and has an extremely keen eye; he often sees small details that others don?t. Alek always appears to be at odds with Era, the two can never seem to get along. Even though she is usually a peaceful creature, he seems to bring out the worst in her. Something which troubles Alek greatly and only fuels his awkwardness around her, leading to more fights. Deep down he would do anything for Era, the fact that the two have stayed together for five years is proof that their bond runs deeper than it would initially seem. Alek would do anything for the resistances cause, he believes in it so strongly that he would gladly give his life. Dragon Information Name: Era Color: Purple Appearance: [Yay! I got to draw some stuff! She isn't colored >< so your going to just have to use your imaginations. I'll color her when and if I can.] [Era] [Era 2] Era is a very deep purple in color, in dark places she appears almost black. At night time she is almost invisible against the sky. When the sun shines on her scales, her purple coloration is a lot more evident. Her eyes shine a light lavender color, much the same as Alek's eyes. On top of her head she has an array of spikes that stand up or flatten depending on her mood. Much the same as a Sulfur Crested Cockatoos comb. When she is frightened, angry or annoyed the spikes will stand on end, making her appear larger or more menacing. When Era is a peace the spines will flatten against her body. She may lower and raise the spines in conversation to emphasize certain points. Era is in essence a night dragon, she does blow normal red flames but at times she may release massive amounts of thick black smoke. Personality: Era is a gentle and quiet soul despite her somewhat intimidating appearance. She cares for Alek greatly but finds her self at odds with him more often than not. The two often clash and it is usually Alek who comes out of the battle a little worse for wear. Era is very protective of her fellow dragons and Alek, unlike Alek though she will gently suggest things to others and with consideration. She enjoys flying at an extremely high altitude and is the most relaxed when flying at night or in thick cloud. In battle Era?s attitude changes dramatically to fearsome and proud, she will not hesitate and is extremely calculating. Era is incredibly nimble on her feat and in the air. Her relationship with the human Alek was not as ?smooth as it is now, if one could even call their current state smooth. The two used to constantly bicker and fight, their arguments sometimes even turning physical. Both Era and Alek have the scars to prove it, though Alek seems to have the most damage, not surprisingly. Era dislikes it immensely when they do bicker, sometimes his attitude infuriates her. She sometimes can?t believe how insensitive he can be and will scold him for his actions, especially when Alek won?t apologize. Even though they may have their differences Era and Alek share a deep connection that wouldn?t be describable in words. She would do anything for him and he would do anything for her. Their fighting has died down a lot as of late, they seem content to enjoy each others company without much need for broken limbs or charred flesh? how long will that last? Era can?t be sure but she is going to enjoy it while she can. Era would do anything to help the resistance, just like Alek. Bio/Snippet: ?Don?t test me dragon?? Alek tapped his foot angrily as he sat in the mud, rocks and pouring rain. The fire he had built with Era?s help went out long ago from the sheer dampness. It was Alek?s fault the two had been exiled to the southern most border for guard duty. The southern watch point sat high in the mountains, in the middle of cold wet mud and sharp rocks. Era seemed like the horrid weather didn?t bother her all that much, Alek on the other hand was freezing. He knew he was right to harshly comment on his superior officer?s plans, his thoughts on battle were utterly useless. ?Why don?t you just go and apologize?? Alek shot Era a withering glance. ?Why should I? He had it coming; somebody needed to tell him he was making a mistake?? Alek poked the burnt and soggy wood of their former fire angrily with one of his arrows. ?It?s not your place to do so Alek?? Era yawned and starched her wings out wide; she was perched next to him on a mound of rock and dirt. Alek received a monetarily respite from the torrential rain as her left wing came over his head. He smiled briefly at the pause in the rain, he despised being wet. As soon as Era retracted her wing the rain started again and Alek frowned miserably. Usually she would have left it there to shield him. ?Not my place? Era men will probably die because of his stupidity. I won?t just sit around and say nothing.? Alek picked up a small rock and pegged it at a far stone wall. The rock instantly shattered, Era looked at Alek with pleading eyes. He looked away to break her gaze, he couldn?t take it when she looked at him like that. ?Maybe you could have handled it differently?? Era questioned, she ruffled her scales and a torrent of water splashed down on Alek, causing his long black hair to fall into his face. He pushed his bangs to the side and shot her an annoyed glance, she shot him a cheesy apologetic grin in return. He gathered his hood from the back of his neck and pulled it up over his head, while still giving Era a death stare. ?Differently? Era please you now nothing of men like Kasis. All they understand is what their ego tells them.? Alek threw another rock at the far wall and watched as it too shattered. ?I know more than you may think Alek. Maybe you and Kasis are not so different.? Era snorted angrily, the spines on her head extending to emphasize her point, and her frustration with Alek. Thick black smoke began floating from her nostrils. ?Don?t start again Era I mean it?Did you just compare me to that idiot?? Alek stood up in a flash, staring his dragon right in the eyes with his brow furrowed. Era looked back at him the same, their stances reflecting images of one another. ?Someone needs to hold a mirror up to your face every once and a while!? Era spat at Alek, he let out a yell of frustration and kicked the remnants of their fire. ?I can?t believe you, you worthless scaly mountain of flesh!? He raised his fist and shook it angrily at Era who puffed her scales up and hyper extended her spines, while bearing her teeth in return to his action. For anyone else the site would have been truly fearsome, to see a dragon in such anger, but Alek was not frightened in the slightest. ?Worthless!?? Era bellowed, beating her wings and raising her head high. ?You heard me!? Alek shouted back he picked up a rock in the spur of the moment and pegged it at her head. Era recoiled, the rock was nothing, it didn?t hurt but it didn?t disintegrate either, it left a small dint in one of her scales right between her eyes. She looked up at the spot where Alek had hit her and then back at him. He was standing still, just looking at her with a smirk, the rain still pelted down relentlessly. ?How dare you!? Small dark red flames escaped from in-between Eras bared teeth. Alek?s brow furrowed further in surprise and anger, she had never actually been as angry as to produce flame because of him before. Steam spouted from the drops of rain that happened to connect with the fire. ?You- you had it coming, you overgrown lizard!? he shouted back, mumbling profanities under his breath. The adrenaline running through his veins took care of any fear he was feeling in that moment.
strwpoptart
Character Information: Name: Persephone Floros Age: 23 Appearance:persephone Pretty much the same. Dirty blond hair, sea foam green eyes, her outfit is exactly the same and purple. Instead of her hair being in that up-do though its just tied back into a braid that ends at the back of her knees. Resistance: Sapiens Weapon:bow and arrow She has a bow and arrow that she carries on her back. She is quick and very accurate with it. Sometimes she poisons the tips of her arrows. dagger The daggar is tied around her right thigh for quick access. The pouch around her hip contains some medical herbs, powders, and lotions as well as some very powerful poisons. She learned as a child how to harvest and grow the right plants as well as how to mix the remedies and potions together from an herbalist who was a friend of her family. Spells:

Contego Undo [Defensive/Offensive]-Depending on what Persephone wants it can either create a large tidal wave or tsuname, that takes shape like a figure of a draon, that drenches and devours everything in its path (this is good for taking out large armies on land) or this spell can act as a defense and create a wall of water around her and her dragon that has the maic effect to block all other magic spells, but is weak against normal man-made weapons that can slip right through water.

Water Claustrum [Offensive]-This spell creates a giant water ball that trapts the enemy inside of it like a prison. There is no air inside of this ball, only water, so the person or dragon inside it can't breathe. This can be very lethal and may even lead to death if Persephone does not release the spell in time.

Crispo Nuntius [Supportive]-This speall creates an endless amount of water fairies that spread out and drop a water droplet onto every enemy, giving Persephone and Ciela the ability to see(Ciela)/feel(Persephone) where each and every enemy is and how close they are.

Personality: Persephone is a very cute lovable person. She has a giddy almost child-like personality and appeal to her. She loves trying to mimick other personalities, as an example she can be a vixen when she wants, she can have a dry sarcastic cutting manner, or also be very aloof and arrogant when the mood strikes her. She can be very serious and thorough in battle and when she is needed. She is very noble and loyal to her friends and her dragon. Persephone and Ciela have such a good chemsitry together and have such similar personalities that people sometimes wonder and joke that they were born from the same parents. Her and Ciela also like to play around from time to time and do neat tricks to show off or make people laugh. She also has this innate ability to sense any type of water. Dragon Information: Name: Ciela Color: Green Appearance: calm, fired up Personality: She also has this carefree loving playful attitude. She is very loyal to her rider and would protect her with her life. She can be very fierce and do major damage when you piss her off. One of her favorite things to do with her rider is a combination excercise where Persephone shoots arrows at targets she has set up all across the valley, while riding her, and at the same time they work on combo attacks against fake enemies. After they're workout they both love to fly freely with the wind blowing in their faces towards the clear cool water of the ocean and then they plunge together into it's depths to cool off, coming up for air laughing at the same time. They both have a deep abiding love for the ocean since they grew up right near it and swam in it almost everyday. While most dragons have a taste for meat, Ciela is odd and also has a taste for sweets. Bio/Snippet:
"Are you ready yet Sephy?"Ciela asked tapping her foot impatiently. "Relax Ciela. I just finished putting up the last one." Persephone climbed up onto Ciela's back, straddling the neck. "Alright Ciela. Let's get started." "OK. Here I go." Ciela jumped up and opened her great mass of wings flying herself and Persephone up into the open air. It was a gorgeously beautiful day today. The sky was a clear blue with a few fluffy white clouds floating dreamily by. There was a light breeze, but it felt simply wonderful on warm days like today. Ciela glided easily in the air. "Alright ready when you are." "Ok." Persephone closed her eyes and placed her hands together. "Crispo Nuntius!" Persephone released her hands to her sides and dozens of beautifully perfected water faieries flew out flying in a million different directions across the valley. These fairies dispensed a droplet of water onto each one of Persephone's targets that she set up all across the valley with the help of Ciela. After a moment Persephone was able to sense all of her targets and released the spell. "I got them!" "So do I."Ciela said. Persephone grabbed her handcrafted wooden bow from over her shoulder, then grabbed a hand crafted arrrow, and fired without even taking a moment to aim. She hit the bullseye. Riding Ciela, swaying back and forth, Persephone kept on firing at her targets and she always hit the dead center with precise acurate percision. The last target she set up she hid behind a tree. She fired her arrow dead center of the tree and in mid-flight Ciela flamed the arrow with her breath and it went through the tree hitting the target dead center. "Nicely done Ciela! That was awesome!" "Thank you. That was pretty cool wasn't it and of course as usual you hit every target perfectly. You know, we're really lucky that we work so well together. Not every rider is in sync with their dragon as much as we are." "I know. And you know what I'm thinking right now?" "As a matter of fact I do." Both Ciela and Persephone laughed. Ciela flew straight and fast towards the destination while Persephone sat on her dragon, her hands spread out in mid air, eyes closed, breathing in the fresh air and enjoying every minute of it. She opened her eyes just in time to see the view of the ocean approaching and fast. "Here we go!" WoooooHooooooo! Ciela dove down toward the depths of the ocean and a few feet before they hit the water together, Persephone jumped off and dove into the water head first. Both dragon and rider surfaced a few moments later laughing widely and enjoying the refreshing feeling of the cool sea water. Persephone swam over to Ciela and gently stroked her head like you would to any pet. "This was great. We should do this again tomorrow." "Awww come on Sephy. Don't you believe in a day off?" They both laughed and giggled like school children while relaxing in the ocean water.
4815162342
Character Information: Name: Dionne (Dee-own) Sayaba (Say-yah-bah) Merabi (Meh-rah-bee) Age: 29 Appearance: Dionne is tall ? about five foot nine ? and slender, moving with graceful, flowing strides. Her hair is a deep blue-black that reaches to just below her tailbone but she normally wears it pulled into a loose knot at the base of her neck or into tight, crown-like braids. All of her features are delicate; her cheekbones high; her lips and nose thin and on the large side; her eyes and eyebrows narrow and set wide apart. Dionne?s face is quite expressive when she wishes it, displaying her emotions for all to see. Dionne?s skin is the color of coffee with milk in it, and she loves to wear loose pants and shirts in deep, jewel-toned colors like purples and greens. She is also rather fond of jewelry (though she only has a few pieces) and the deeper the tones of the stones are in her necklaces, bracelets and earrings the better; most of ? if not all of ? her jewelry is accented with gold. She smells of ginger-root and nutmeg. Resistance: Validus Weapon: A Shamshir (the Persian?s version of a scimitar) that she calls Naiba. Naiba is about five foot in length and made of blue-ish steel with a light colored wood grip and a cross-guard of pale gold. The end of the grip is capped with gold as well. Spells:
Niveus Contego [Defensive] ? Creates walls of white mist which slow down attacks and decrease visibility. The mists are thickest around Dionne and Meshi. Speculum Frango [Offensive] ? Creates a sheet of ice where desired, which can then be shattered sending shards of razor-sharp, glass-like ice at whoever is attacking. These shards are nigh on impossible to see unless the light hits them at the correct angle to make them shine brightly. Frigus Emanio [Supportive] ? The temperature decreases starting at the area around Dionne and Meshi. In this cooler temperature their offensive and defensive spells are stronger.
Personality: Dionne has an easy-going personality, quick to forgive and forget. She loves to tease others, often spending time getting to know people for the dual purpose of becoming their friend and finding things she can rag on them about. Though she is one of the happiest people you could ever meet, do not take this to mean she is a pushover; Dionne can be just as firm as the next person, though she?ll hide it behind a joking manner. The same goes for her stubborn streak. She can be happy and she can be tough, but one emotion Dionne is almost never visited by is anger; when she does get angry you?d better watch out. Dragon Information: Name: Meshuggener (Commonly called Meshi.) Color: Deep purple Appearance: Meshi. Usually his spines/quills/horns have ribbons and wind-chimes tied to them ? you can tell he?s coming from a long way off, which is why he doesn?t wear them when silence is needed. Personality: Meshuggener is ? to put it kindly ? missing quite a few marbles. He has screws loose, if you get what I mean. ?or, to put it unkindly, he?s pretty much nuts. Yeah. He?s scatterbrained, has no sense of direction and doesn?t often make any kind of sense at all. Sometimes he behaves nice and dragon-like and other times you have no clue what in the blue-blazes is going on with him. The only person he?ll speak to is Dionne, and for her he will do nearly anything ? including behaving near-normal. Bio/Snippet: ?You?re the sail in my loveboat?? Meshuggener was singing some nonsensical lyrics again. He always was, if you wanted the truth; Dionne, his friend, rubbed a hand over his quills and shook her head as she and he continued through the tunnels. Meshuggener?s chimes sounded faintly as the cool slightly damp air from the shady forest at the end of this particular tunnel streamed past them and further into their base. The tunnel was easily tall enough and had enough breadth for the dragon (The large, purple, fierce dragon! :3) to walk beside his friend. They hadn?t always walked side by side, though; Meshuggener?s crooning changed as he sped up a little to catch up beside Dionne. ?Wash away my troubles, wash away my pain?? Once, Dionne said, she?d been on her own. She had been following her fortune where her sword would take her, without a friend to watch her back. Meshuggener?s eyes fixed on Dionne?s back as he bounced along behind her, clanging and chiming. He could watch it now, even if her shiny jewelry was a major distraction! Hmm? ?With the rain in Shambala? She said some very astonishing things, his Dionne. Oh yes she did! Once she had told him that her sword had led her to piracy. He chuffed slightly, lavender eyes whirling as he thought on this. Finally his mind fixed on the image of her with a patch over one eye and he could forgive her and erase the thought of her running someone through. Eye patches were fetching, oh yes! ?Wash away my sorrow, wash away my shame?? Pirate, mercenary, bodyguard?he could forgive them all, yes, yes?he was lenient, and he loved his friend. And she was with him now; she was with him and was his friend and was good now. And she had promised never to leave. Promised from the moment they had made their connection. ?With the rain in Shambala?? And he believed her and all was good. All was very, very good. Past was no more and present was here and now. Here and now with his friends and his Rider. A big grin spread across his broad face and his sharp teeth were displayed in full as he caught up once more with Dionne, his tail swinging and swaying as he hopped all bunny-like. All was good ? except for maybe his singing. :3 ....may be a funny question, but, do these dragons breath fire? Most do, but I've come across some in different places that don't, so I just wanted to know. ^^ El finished! TheResplendent
OOC note: Please check the underground thread for some important and helpful information. I have edited with something that may help some people out with their snippets as well as give a better understanding. Edit - Alright, I'm awake and well rested so I can put in more. Snippet to come later. * * * * * Character Information: Name: Donovan Asclan Age: 28 Appearance: Donovan - Donovan stands 6'1, and can typically be seen wearing armor similar to the one in tthe picture (gold colored). When not in battle or in preperation for one, he usually wears normal civilian clothing, including a brown leather vest and wyvern-hide boots. Though he wears his armor more often, Donovan seems to have a more calm look about him despite his history of battle. Resistance: Sapiens Weapon: Donovan wields a rather large bladed lance, the main idea of which can be seen here. The actual blade starts out wide and narrows down towards the point. Spells: -Rain of Fire - [Offensive]: By command of the enchantment "Flamma Pluvia", mixing the elements of fire and earth, Donovan concentrates the extraction of long fire pillars from the ground and uses them to fire down and bombard anywhere between a concentrated spot to a wide open area. The flames take the shape of thin tornados and have chunks of the ground stuck in them. -Stun - [Offensive]: Donovan concentrates magic into the palm of his hand and fires out a flaring ball of non-elemental energy at a single opponent. Once hit, the ball disperses and causes a paralyzing effect which makes the target feel as if all of his nerves have been cut at once. The effect lasts for minutes, but takes longer to gain complete feeling and movement back into all of the limbs. -Wind Spirit - [Supportive]: By command of the enchantment "Ventus Animus", Donovan closely surrounds his body with a concentrated force of wind that serves as a movement enhancer in addition to providing a shield strong enough to deflect the likes of arrows or weak melee hits. For most attacks it would simply deter the force somewhat, but does not serve well as a shield to completely negate an attack unless the force behind the attack is weak enough. Personality: Donovan is a proud and noble man, one of honor and loyalty. He and the leader of the Sapiens Resistance, Gavlin Leonus are close friends from having fought together much in the past, so he is considered very highly within the ranks of the Sapiens. Despite his somewhat young age still, Donovan is quite experienced, having learned to fight in the field at the age of 12. When Donovan turned 18, he made first contact with Adriana and within that year established a strong bond that remains exceptionally strong 10 years later. He is often serious, but tends to lighten up when around Adria or certain other people. This is all trumped when in battle however, as Donovan's primary focus then becomes finishing it quickly. In battle he is tactical and efficient, always believing that the shorter the battle the better it is for everyone. Though this does not mean Donovan is an impatient man. Donovan is an appreciator of solitude and peace every so often. In times of momentary peace or when he's able to afford not being on call for the base he can be found with Adria by a waterfall or even in the middle of the ocean, resting atop his faithful dragon while she enjoys the water. He cares for Adria so incredibly, he would risk his own life for her. The bond they share is unlike one between a human and dragon that's ever been seen. Dragon Information: Name: Adriana, "Adria" for short. Color: Blue Appearance: Adria Personality: Adria cares greatly for Donovan, and is often kind and encouraging to him. On the lighter side, she also has a bit of a sarcastic side which tends to come out when speaking jokingly with others, whether it be fellow dragons or her rider. Adria is wise and clever, and will often boast very lightly about it, but overall she wants to use what she knows and what she can do to help Donovan and the Resistance's cause. She very much enjoys flying close to the water as well, as well as swimming in it. In battle she shares Donovan's desire for quick battles to reduce the amount of casualties, and acts accordingly. Adria also has the ability to breathe a mysterious blue colored flame that adds a sharp freezing sensation to the burning effect of fire. Bio/Snippet: Donovan turned his attention down toward the field from his position upon the mountaintop. The enemy?s Wyvern Brigade was sure to reinforce it?s ground units, and in very little time. It was hardly anything to worry about at that moment however, the numbers were greatly in the favor of the Resistance. It was exactly that however that puzzled Donovan. ?Why launch an attack on a strategic stronghold of the Resistance with such a menial force?? and ?Doesn?t Garai care about the slaughter that is sure to befall his troops this day?? were two prominent questions that ran through his head. Time passed by as the field began to grow more abundant in numbers that supported a victory for the Resistance. The young commander rested his eyes for a few brief seconds, as his thoughts seemed to be answered by his companion. ?It does not seem as if Garai will be sending his Wyvern Brigade in, Donovan. This battle has been won with no aid from us.? Donovan stood from his kneeling position and grunted as he fixed his weapon to the custom made sheath that was strapped around his companion, in a gesture of agreement with her. Donovan wielded a hybrid knight?s sword that was fashioned like a lance. A 24 inch hilt with a thick blade nearest the hilt that narrowed into a more than ample piercing capable point. ?Such a wasteful battle, what was its purpose? In comparison to the Empire we are little in numbers, yet on this day we crushed an attack by their Legion. Garai is not such a fool that this was merely unfortunate, this is most unsettling.? Donovan said, as he tugged lightly on his beard. ?Let us return and check with Felix. Though it appears to be a tactical victory for us we should get the official report.? Donovan nodded to his companion, as he grabbed hold of her side and leaped up onto her back. He settled himself in and gave his faithful dragon a light back and forth pat on the back of her neck. ?Adria, let?s go!? Donovan yelled as the dragon spread it?s massive wings and swooped down from their mountaintop position. As they descended, the final remnants of the Empire?s Legion could be seen scattering from the mere sight of the grandiose dragon. The sight of one of the five dragon riders of the Sapiens Resistance also caught the eye of another under the service of Emperor Garai. He was tortured and his ears have been ripped and damaged beyond reshaping. As if to deter from odd stares, Lethon has installed several simple silver hoop earrings, and has grown his hair out. Lethon wears mostly cloths and leathers, taking little heed of armor. If it makes contact, the lightning will surge and spread forth from Lethon's mental will, leaping from enemy to enemy until Lethon either stops the spell, or something stops it. Fury of the Storm: [Offensive / Supportive] This is a dangerous spell, if only for the time it takes to cast. As he uses it, the sky begins to darken and thunderclouds form over the battlefield, raining down heavily on both friend and foe. While it's raining, the effectiveness of spells and long range attacks are decreased for the enemy and raised for the ally. However, this is also a form of attack as the lightning generated strikes at the enemy's encampents and troops. Nature's Touch: [Supportive] Lethon begins to harness the power of nature and release it into the desired target's wounds, rapidly regenerating their cells and stimulating white blood cells to remove and stop infections. This spell can heal most moderate wounds from weapon lacerations to arrow wounds, but anything beyond is out of his magic's hands.
Personality: Lethon is a warm and friendly person, willing to help out if you need it, but being quite lazy in his own right otherwise. While he believes in justice and fairness, he's felt quite powerless to help out until joining the Validus. While he's an amazing fighter, both physically and magically, he has self esteem issues and believes he's never good enough for anyone. His time in a sort of prison camp has changed him, removing some of his laziness and further stimulating his desire to end the empire. Lately, he's become quite self concious about his ears and his appearance in general. Overall, all he wants is a good fight and a happy ending, and would do anything to get the latter. When on a mission, or in a fight, however, he leaves behind his somewhat...bubbly personality. Dragon Information. Name: Eranikus [Err-rani-kuus] Color: Green. Appearance: Eranikus. Personality: Eranikus is a being of strong will and strong heart. He believes that nature is the only true god, as it's the beginning and end of every life. He also believes that people like Lethon have the power to ask Nature for her help, and therefore sees himself as the eternal guardian of Lethon. He and Lethon have created a close bond over the years, and to others, Eranikus might seem loud and commanding, but Lethon and a few others know it's just his way of showing that he cares. Eranikus shares many of the same traits as Lethon. For example, both have a tendancy to tap their fingertips or feet against something at all times. Snippit: The sky shone darkly overhead, a deep black and thunderous red as the drums of war echoed, imitating the beating of a heart that craved war. The armies of the empire marched ahead, several beating on large war drums made of stretched and tanned hide, a needless casualty of war. On a rocky hilltop, stood a man with long and twisted and deformed ears with a sharp handsome face and striking silver features. Lethon looked down in disdain as Eranikus strode up beside him, his large wings beating slightly in the air. Lethon turned to Eranikus and nodded. "Should we clean the earth off of these misbegotten stains?" Eranikus asked with his deep voice and Lethon nodded. "Lemme do it, Eran." Lethon stroked finertips through his hair softly, drumming them on his skull slowly. He began to tap his right foot in time with an unknown rhythm as he shifted back into a casting stance, directing his sight up to the sky and looking at the black and red sky, his lips filtering into a grin as he looked up at the war-sky. As if on cute, the clouds begin to lighten and become darker and bluer, swelling and looking ready to burst with rain and thunder. The rain began, slow at first, but soon heavy and harder, turning the dirt into mud beneath the enemy's feet. They had stopped, if for a short time. Lethon grinned and stood up on the clifttop, his foot still tapping to the beat, but the beat was evident this time. It was the rhythm of the rain, and it went at a pace that not many would catch. Lethon shifted back into the spellcasting stance as the first laceration of thunder struck the troops below, sending them into a screaming agony. He looked at the nearest battallion just below him, letting off the blast of chain lightning forming in his fingertips. Eranikus couldn't hold back any longer and dove off of the cliff, spreading his gigantic wings in flight as he sprayed a corrosive acid on the soldiers, melting through skin and armor. Lethon's eyes glinted as he lept off the cliff, following Eranikus as he withdrew Erlose and fired off a volley of arrows in rapid succession. Once on the ground, he replaced his bow with his sword that held meat-cleaver like qualties, Vael. He launched himself at the soldiers, screaming out a single thing. "I'll never forgive you!"

Can warn of incoming people, fires, towns, and so forth. Personality: Shay isn?t exactly the friendliest guy around, although it?s not always easy to tell. When he?s in ?business? mode, he can be charming and kind, a perfect gentleman. But if he feels he has nothing to gain by winning someone over, he?ll happily revert to his usual selfish ways. This selfish side of him is his true self. Arrogant, snarky and rude, Shay treats others as simply means to an end. Ideas like ?love? and ?friendship? are foreign to him, although dig a little deeper and you?ll find that he can be fiercely loyal if someone manages to get past the cool exterior. In fact, he has one simple rule: Don?t mess with Emer or else. Even so, he doesn?t like direct confrontations and would rather use cheating or ambushes instead of direct conflict. Shay is also a gambling man, enjoying bets over even the most trivial of things. He also has an oral fixation and can be seen smoking rolled leaves or chewing on hay or thin twigs at all times. Sometimes he's a bit of a flirt, too, but he claims it's all part of his charm. Dragon Information: Name: Emer Color: Blue Appearance: Picture here The top blue dragon; Belongs to Nambroth on Deviantart Personality: Emer, unlike Shay, is openly friendly. Emer is articulate and easy-going, although she isn?t afraid to voice her opinion and won?t back down if she feels something is wrong. She can be talkative, although she is shy at first but quickly loosens up. Emer is also very close to Shay, probably the one person who is. She knows that most of him, from the gentleman routine to the arrogance, is for show and is the only one able to tell him to shut up and get away with it. She enjoys poking fun at him and sometimes takes on an almost motherly role of scolding him and trying to keep him on the right path. She?s mildly disappointed that the ?right path? in his mind is usually immoral. Aside from bothering Shay, she also enjoys food and considers herself knowledgeable in the art of cooking, even if she?s never done it. Bio/Snippet: Recon. It was both right up Shay?s alley and a chore that he despised. Oh, sure, he preferred hanging back in the shadows and watching to getting his hands bloody in battle but unless something was happening, it was boring. This mission wasn?t changing his mind, either. Today Shay and Emer were in just inside a thick forest outside of one of the biggest Legion camps of the east. Sabian Deimos himself was inspecting the troops this week and it was Shay?s job to gather information from the visit. So far, all he had gathered was that the troops were morons. Watching them practice, he idly thought it?d be easy to simply stab a few in the back. They wouldn?t notice. ?Do you sense anything, Shay?? he heard Emer ask. Emer, being a rather large dragon, had to hide farther in the forest when the shadows blended with her scales. With a sigh, he stretched out his hand. His bond with Emer pulsed in his blood, touching the wind magic within him. ?Fluo Sensus,? muttered Shay. Instantly, breezes from all across the valley came to him. Voices and smells assaulted his senses but he?d gotten used to this part. It only took a moment to confirm that all the data was useless. Shay stepped away from the cliff and shrugged. ?All I can tell is that there are a bunch of idiots who can?t tell which end of the sword faces the enemy. But the head moron hasn?t shown his face yet.? ?Then we wait,? Emer said simply. ?Might as well just sit down and relax until Deimos arrives.? Shay ran a hand through messy blond hair and shook his head. He sat down on a stump under Emer and pulled some leaves and herbs from a pocket in his tunic. As he rolled them tightly together, his thoughts drifted to the valley below them. It was a lot like the one back home, if you could call that place a home. Dumped off to fend for himself, the green grass plains looked a lot less nice to a lonely child. It was always just him. Shay by himself, Shay abandoned, Shay sent away. Hell, he was pretty sure he was picked for recon so the others could take a break from him. He paused, looking down at the rolled leaves. He held them up to Emer with a sigh. ?You know, it figures. I forgot to bring something to light them with.? Shay groaned, giving a small laugh. ?Just figures, you know? We?re out in the middle of nowhere and I don?t-? Shay was interrupted by a short stream of fire knocking the roll from his fingers. He glanced up at Emer and caught a grin on her scaly face. ?What are you talking about? You have me around,? she said with a smirk. ?I won?t let you forget it.? ?How can I forget the big blue serpent?? Shay rolled his eyes, scooping up the charred remains of the herbs. But his lips had to resist twitching into a smile. It wasn?t just Shay by himself anymore. Emer wouldn?t let him forget that and, for once, Shay was happy to be reminded. Doublehex
Character Information: Name: Lupus Age: 32 Appearance:
Lupus Lupus? appearance is anything but bestial. His blue, neatly trimmed, hair flows down to his shoulders. His face, although more times than not giving the appearance of a cold and hardened man, at times hints of compassion and understanding. It is not surprising though, that when people first gaze on Lupus they are initially frightened of him. He has a history of being very critical of others, and the X criss-crossing scar on his face gives him an aggressive demeanor. Lupus cares greatly on his physical appearance; he does, after all, have to make up for his experimentation upon him by the Empire. He wears a sleeveless crimson trench coat, trimmed with white linings. Beneath, he wears a flexible white shirt that is both comfortable and does not limit his movements. His leggings is a somewhat rather plain black pants, and his black boots don?t show much individuality.
Resistance: Sapiens Weapon:
Claymore Claymores usually do not very much beyond each smithy?s expertise in his craft: they range at fifty five inches long, weigh around five pounds. They are large, heavy, and capable to cleanly cutting a man in two. Lupus? claymore, on the other hand, is very different in its design. It is in fact two blades, bisected by black metal, that are parallel to each other, the black metal merging into the actual blade. Like all claymores, it is a massive weapon. However, it is different in its use in that it relies less on brute strength and more on cunning in order to wield it properly.
Spells:
Not nearly as magical as he is capable of using the modified blood within him, nearly all of Lupus? abilities deal with the moon, his changing form, or the berserker seal carved upon him. Lycanthropy At will, Lupus is capable of shedding his human skin, and transforming into what is commonly called a werewolf. Unlike common folklore, Lupus in this form is not some blood lusting beast. In truth, he has complete control over any of his senses, and all of his intellect is converted perfectly to the werewolf form. Lupus is even capable of speaking. Mond Aufteilen When the full moon sheds its shadow onto Lupus, the true horrors of his experimentation is revealed. His once smooth scar becomes bloody and ragged, like it was torn into his skull. His hair becomes ragged and wild like, his teeth enlarges to the point of overlapping his lips. His eyes turn yellow and are very similar to that of a wolf?s. It is in this form that Lupus becomes that of a wild man. For the few short moments that the curse lasts, he goes on a wild blood craze, his eyes dancing with a thousand furies, his blade cutting through whole bodies in a single stroke. As if this was not enough, the moon directly feeds energy into Lupus? systems: so, not only is he capable of regenerating at a fast speed, but whenever his blade hits something, or whenever he hits an object, waves of energy erupts, and Lupus is able to determine the shape and direction of these waves. Sense By focusing on the inner beast within, Lupus is able to heighten his senses, his smell in particular. If he is not in the middle of battle, he can have the effects last for hours.
Personality
With both Resistances, it is common to find those who will speak big ? I will get rid of those explosives, I can devise a plan ? but they never follow up on those ill-fated promises. Lupus is not like this in any form. Lupus is a man of action: he praises people not for their proposals, but for their results on the field. He rarely speaks, more inclined to get his opinion across through body language. When he does speak, it is only when pressed upon, or when he needs to manipulate the situation when it fits his interests. He is also a very critical individual ? to him, failure is not an option in any form. Even a tactical retreat is a colossal loss when the rebels are fighting against the Empire. When he sees someone has done a wrong, he is quick to criticize them. But on that same note, he points out methods the individual could of have done so that they would not make the same mistake again. Lupus is, at heart, a harsh mentor. He has taken a few soldiers under his wing, showing them the ropes of battle and politics. Despite the fact that all of his mentored have died, he knows the torch needs to be passed onto the next generation. To hold onto that torch yourself will lead only to inner corruption.
Dragon Information: Name: Zalades Color: Red Appearance
Zalades
Personality
There is a common myth that the dragons and their riders are exact personal reflections of the other. Although there is some truth to this idea, the partner?s personas are usually as varied as the weather. This is especially true with the personality of Lupus? dragon, the red wyrm Zalades. Whereas Lupus is a calm and over critical man, Zalades is quick to jump the gun, but is much more sympathetic than his rider. He is known to make excuses for other?s mistakes, trying to rationalize the events that transpired.
Bio
Lupus does not have much memory of his early childhood. It?s not because he has amnesia. It?s just that there is not much vital memories to recall. He does remember how his father was a noble of sorts ? not exactly rich, but he had his grasp of political powers. He doesn?t recall much of his mother, except her wildly red hair and her scent of roses. Eventually a war erupted, and by then Lupus was of age where he, as part of a noble family, he could decide if he could enlist in the army. A patriotic person in his youth, he was quick to enlist. The horrors of war were quick to carve themselves into his mind. Bodies littered the battlefield; corpses with missing limbs; corpses that were barely distinguishable as ever once being human. He decided that enough was enough, and used his powers as a noble to leave the army. The army didn?t even give anything above a whimper at his leaving. Back in his comfortable home, Lupus was quick to follow his father into politics. He was quickly criticized by his peers as being a pacifist, but this was further from the truth. ?Yes, war is horrible. Yes, death is a sight few should ever lay witness to. The blade is often manipulated by Kings and Lords for another golden coin. But freedom has a price, and we must be willing to fight for it. And we must be willing to die for it. But not should we leap at every encounter for ?honor? and ?chivalry?!? Lupus enjoyed his life for many years, although he was often exhausted by the end of the days because of his choice of profession. When the Empire was given rather subtle hints of its invasion, Lupus was quick to rally his peers to prevent the war, but they gave him no heed. They had no reason to believe the Empire would descend upon them. Ever were they more wrong. The thousand armies of the Empire invaded Lupus? home, and they were too weak and ill prepared to halt the invasion. His kingdom was quickly annexed into the Empire. Word quickly spread that Lupus had been very vocal to the Empire. To make sure none would speak against them, they dragged him into their Laboratories to make a true warrior of them. They injected in his blood stream strange serums; their hexes permanently scarred his body, most noticeably his X shaped scar. They termed him as a berserker; he was named Lupus. Lupus was never his true name; it was the term he had come to realize that best identified him. Through a series of fortunate events, Lupus came to escape the Empire?s Laboratories; despite his calm attitude, he had within him a burning rage for the Empire. He cared little for vengeance for the conquest of his home; after all, they had brought it upon themselves. But it was what they did to him that would forever make Lupus an enemy of the Empire. And it was through that that he became one of the members of the Sapiens Resistance. There, and forever more. It was sometime after his recruitment that he met Zalades. Or rather, Zalades met him. The red dragon was rather clear on the matter: Lupus was to be a dragon rider, and Zalades would be his dragon. Lupus didn?t have much reason to refuse.
Allamorph
Ahhh! Bugger life. It always seems to happen to me at the most inopportune moments, like when I need to write a sign-up. This should have been done yesterday afternoon, not at three-in-the-bloody-morning. Grrr. Character Information: Name: Tristan Lancaster Age: 31 Appearance: Tristan (nevermind the name; and yes, I?m a Fire Emblem geek)
Tristan stands at an impressive six-two and carries himself nobly; his attire varies only when formal dress is required, and he always wears his overcoat open. A smirk is permanently attached to his face, unless he happens to be in a particularly foul mood (a rare occurrence) or he is laughing (which is slightly more common). His eyes are piercing and quick, never missing a single detail, and all his movements are smooth, graceful, and controlled. His gait is typically relaxed, but his stride is long, and his arms move very little as he walks. He left hand unconsciously rests on his sword at all times.
Personality:
Tristan was born a natural thinker and raised in an environment encouraging to his nature, and so he developed an almost incurable thirst for knowledge. He was also blessed with the ability to learn rapidly; there are very few areas that Tristan is not at least passable in, and he excels in diplomacy, strategy and tactics, and combat. His unfortunate shortcomings are his dry sense of humor and his tendency to be quite sarcastic, sometimes bitingly so, depending on his mood. He also tends to come off initially as reserved and taciturn, but he is in fact rather amiable; he simply feels no pressing need for initiating idle conversation unless there is actually something to talk about, though he will not refuse conversation if offered to him. He generally treats all his associates well and gives his respect where it he feels it is deserved, but he doesn?t take kindly to what he terms ?deliberate, conscientious stupidity?. Tristan has been a dragon rider since he was sixteen and was one of the five riders sent to Kaien?s resistance as a result of the agreement between the Validus and the Sapiens. He takes his duty and most things connected to it very seriously. In combat he usually hangs back, supervising battle from the air or a convenient cliff, anticipating enemy maneuvers, but Tristan is not afraid to throw himself into the fray, quite literally, as it were. He is still hesitant to experiment with magic?the potential power makes him nervous.
Resistance: Validus Weapon: On dragonback Tristan wields an elegant halberd with which he is quite deadly; otherwise, he can be seen carrying a similarly elegant scimitar, which doubles as a ceremonial blade and an emergency weapon, and with which he is also skilled. Vires Amplio [Supportive]: Tristan?s physical abilities are multiplied several times over, lending him greater strength and speed. He generally uses this spell in tandem with his dragon to combat airborne units?meaning he has his dragon hurl him through the air at an enemy to fight on it?s own beast. This also allows Tristan to survive larger falls, such as from around forty feet. (And no, he can?t leap tall mountains in a single bound. Short huts, maybe?.) Ignis [Supportive/Offensive]: Tristan sets the head of his halberd ablaze. A simple spell, and the only one of actual elemental power he is comfortable using to date.
Dragon Information: Name: Lethe Color: Blue Appearance: Lethe Personality:
Calm and rational, she is an almost eerily perfect match to Tristan?s own temperament. In the rare case that Tristan misses something, Lethe is certain to catch it, and almost as certain to remind him of her catch. Tristan and Lethe banter frequently, and so the rider is prone to randomly snicker at a silent remark made by his partner. Lethe can be just as serious as her rider about their role when the situation demands it, following Tristan?s every command, sometimes before he can give it. Though she is as friendly as her rider, she is significantly cooler than he in her interactions (which is saying something). Their bond is strong enough that a significant amount of emotional bleedthrough takes place between them. Fortunately, Lethe has not yet experienced any major violent feminine mood swings, for which Tristan is extremely thankful.
Bio/Snippet:
Lethe rested comfortably on a crag overlooking one of the few passes into the Sapiens? city, her long body sideways, her head snaking back around, settled on her magnificent blue forearms. ?A lovely day for flying,? said the emerald dragon perched several feet above and behind her. ?No clouds, no breeze, a warm sun?.? ?Mmm,? she returned distantly. ?Warm sun. A lovely day for not flying.? The emerald dragon snorted. ?Lethe, you spend more time on that rock than you do with the humans. Surely you should feel some sort of need to stay involved, or at least active, especially given recent events.? Lethe ignored him, shifting her head to a more comfortable position. The heat from the sun and the stone felt too good to merit an argument. Of course she was aware of the situation; she was always aware of the situation. She just hadn?t felt pressured to do anything about it yet. Below her, a pair of humans were making their way towards the city. She eyed them lazily. ?Hey, look up there! Dragons.? ?Yeah?wait, I recognize that blue one. That?s that useless dragon that won?t take another rider. What was her name??? ?Really? How can you tell it?s her?? ?Look at her eyes. All I know is that?s one less dragon we have in the skies?.? The pair moved out of earshot; at least, out of Lethe?s conscious earshot. She could have kept listening to them, but she really didn?t care all that much. Everybody seemed to know about her now. If dragons ever came up in conversation, it somehow managed to end up on her, the rider-less dragon. The useless dragon. ?The useless dragon,? she muttered in contempt. ?They are right, you know.? Lethe raised her head and glared at her companion. ?Right about what?? ?As long as you do not take another rider, you are useless. You are only taking up space and feed.? Lethe snorted in irritation. Why do you not take another rider?? Lethe rose, tired of sunning herself. ?Because, Tarthis,? she answered as she took off, ?I haven?t found one yet.? ----------------------------------------------------- It was time again for the rider hopefuls to attempt to bond with a dragon. There were a couple of black dragons and a red one that most of the youths present were aiming for; apparently Lethe had been given up as a lost cause. She sat with Tarthis and a purple dragon named Reidervari, watching acolyte after acolyte try their hand at the Ouroboros Scroll, figuratively, of course. There were many gathered to watch; a gasp and slight applause rose up as an older boy bonded with one of the blacks. Lethe scanned the crowd idly, noticing a blond young man leaning against the wyr wall at the back of the group of hopefuls. He seemed to be watching his fellows as they each took their turn; his half-lidded eyes opened up when a girl about his age stepped forward, and when she bonded with the other black, the corner of his mouth lifted slightly. ?He picked her out, Lethe realized. ?He figured she was going to be successful. She sent a thought at one of the other riders, and he came over to her. ?That girl,? the blue dragon started, lowering her head to his. ?How did you feel about her?? ?She was one of the more favored candidates,? the rider replied quietly. ?I?m honestly not surprised she bonded.? ?I see.? Lethe thought for a moment. ?You see that blond boy over there?? Her head pointed in the young man?s direction. ?Tristan? The one at the back?? ?Yes.? He?d noticed them looking at him, and his smirk disappeared, his brow knitting together thoughtfully. ?I would like to talk with him.? It took the rider a second to understand what she?d said. ?Of?of course,? he answered. ?He should be ready in about a month, but?? ?Good,? Lethe said with satisfaction. She watched smugly as realization spread slowly over the boy?s face; he knew what had happened before the rider was halfway to him. ?Tristan, hmm? I think I like you, boy.?
Weaughh. So much coloring.

She prefers bare feet, but will wear a pair of hand-sewn, dragon scale boots when she feels there is need to protect her feet. She also has a pair of red-tinted goggles under her scarf for wearing when flying weather is poor. Weapon: When riding Cin, Eddy keeps to using her magic, feeling awkward handling anything extra while in the air. But on her own, she uses a large axe with surprising speed and flexibility. Spells:
Calx Pugnus [Offensive] ? Covering her fists in solid stone, she can either use them as extremely hard gloves, or thrust her arms forward in a punching motion and shoot the stones off for a rather far distance, another large stone instantly forming around her fist afterwards. It is useful both for close combat and long range, and unlike her other spells, this one requires no source for the stone, making it the fastest and easiest to use. Amplitudo Bovis ? [Offensive] Essentially, this spell takes dirt and dust particles in the air or rock out of the ground (if she is close enough to it) and 'snowballs' them into small, round projectiles, and then fires them off like bullets. She can create as many as a thousand at a time, to only one or two, but the force behind them is what gives them their power. Depending on how much energy Eddy has left, a single projectile she has created could shoot through a wall of rock several feet thick, leaving a clean, small hole behind. Silicis Voco [Defensive/Supportive] ? Using this spell, Eddy summons lots of earth (sand, rock, dirt, mud, etc. all work) to form three large spheres around her. She can then shape them into anything she wants, be it a single, large platform that she can glide around on, a large shield for her or Cinder, or even a saddle to wrap around Cinder's back for her to ride in. This spell is only effective when there is significant amount of material nearby, so she usually has to use it while flying close to the ground if she wants to be able to use it during battle.
Personality: Despite her long hair and the flimsy dresses she's always wearing, Eddy is a very tomboyish individual, most notable from her choice nickname. If she had any boys her age to hang out with, she would surely behave much more like a brother rather than a female buddy. She is a very optimistic person, always finding the best in people and events, but she is also very withdrawn. Though she can see the goodness in others, she finds it difficult to open up and share things about herself with them. Dragon Information: Name: Cinder ?Cin/Cindy? Color: Red Appearance: See Above Personality: Cinder is a prideful creature, obsessed with being the most powerful and better than everyone else. He is always stubborn, condescending, impatient and judgmental about everything and everyone, often including Eddy, though she never treats him with anything but affection in return. He listens only to Eddy, and even then, he often has some insulting or demeaning remarks to share. He refuses to back down once challenged, and takes losing in anything, particularly battle, extremely hard. The smallest bruise to his ego leaves him in an even fouler and antagonistic mood than usual, which is hard for most to imagine. Eddy is the only one capable of comforting him, no matter how reluctant he is to admit that he appreciates her. Bio/Snippet:
?Swift, swift, swift, swift,? Eddy chanted under her breath, smiling as she jumped and climbed down the rocky hillside. The bag she held in her hand waved about wildly as she moved about, and she didn?t seem to pay much attention to the loud crinkling sound it made. She began to mutter in a singsong voice, a tune she had heard a while ago suddenly floating through her head. ?There you are.? Eddy looked up towards the light blue sky, sprinkled with fluffy clouds here and there, to search for the source of the voice. The powerful sun forced her to raise her free hand over her eyebrows to keep the light out of her eyes as she scanned the azure around her. Her smile widened further when she spotted a familiar speck rapidly growing larger as it approached. ?Swift, swift, swift, swift! Dragon, won?t you give me a lift,? she continued humming, now quite a bit louder to hear herself over the increasing volume of flapping wings. The creature was only yards away, but came to an abrupt, mid-air stop, beating his wings in a braking manner. The gusts of wind blown in her direction sent the loose end of her scarf wildly waving about behind her, though the rest of it stayed wrapped securely around her neck. ?Aren?t you smooth?? Eddy cooed as he landed gracefully in front of her. ?I was bored waiting for you.? ?Aww, Cindy! You missed me, didn?t you?? ?Don?t call me that.? ?Sure, sure,? Eddy giggled, sticking her tongue out. She extended her arm and began massaging Cinder?s scaly chin, and he showed his appreciation by fluttering his eyes closed and leaning against her gentle touch. ?Did you get what you were looking for?? ?Yup! Right here!? She proceeded to hold up the bag in her other hand as she continued stroking her friend. ?It was expensive, but it?ll be worth it.? Cinder curiously opened one of his eyes to examine whatever it was she had bought, but all he saw was a small, leather bag, and was immediately uninterested. He would eventually find out what was inside, but he was too ?busy? at the moment to investigate now. When she suddenly stopped rubbing his chin he pulled his neck back and let out a snort, a few white sparks flying out of his nostrils. Eddy lucidly jumped and cart wheeled along Cinder?s neck, though her landing on his forehead was much less smooth than her climb. The dragon let out a dissatisfied grunt before expanding his wings and preparing to take off once again. Eddy made sure she had a firm grip on her small bag before positioning herself comfortably between Cinder?s largest horns. Hovering only a few feet in the air, Cinder delayed his speedy take off to ask his rider a question. ?Holding on tight?? ?I haven't fallen off yet.?

Delta
RIDER Name: Nerissa Lohmeyer Age: 26 Resistance: The Sapiens of Nidorram Appearance: Hardly taken for a dragon rider at first glance, nor even someone who could throw a good punch at the very least, Nerissa looks her position as a lady of high birth. Her skin is fair and unblemished, as if it knows nothing of labors under the sun. Her bearing is distinctly noble and do not show signs of toil nor strain. Her long russet hair cascades down her back in soft waves that are tied into a loose braid with a velvet ribbon. Ash-colored eyes offset the dullness of their color by the intensity of emotions they are able to convey: bright and clear even when Nerissa is but slightly amused; and dark and empty during hours of pensiveness. Ears with arches slightly higher than what are found in humans identify her as a distant elven kin. In battle, Nerissa wears no plate nor helm to arm herself. What she has is a mail of closely-linked mithril rings, lightweight and durable, that she wears over a short, off-white tunic. Thick stockings in the color of desert sand protect her legs from unsteady temperatures of her dragon's hide. Her slim, knee-length boots help her jump (and land safely) or add leverage to her already-potent kicks. Weapon: Layers of soft leather stitched together into a glove and bound to her forearm with strips of red, gilded cloth arm her primary melee weapons, her fists. Spells: The line of geomancers from her mother's side gave Nerissa a strong affinity for earth-based magicks. Though her element had the most potential for defensive capabilities, she figured that with her careful nature she could go with the tenet ?The best defense is a good offense,? the basis for her third spell. Her spells can be only be called up through chants. Once, she had accidentally incorporated one chant into her speech and had more than once unintentionally casted a spell. She then developed a seal for her spells, which can only broken by uttering ?Spring, spring meets the tiger?. A full chant would then require her to unseal her magic and then calling up one of the following lines:
?Like a tiger that does not tread on flowers?: The chant calls up a dust storm that will hide allies and temporarily blind enemies. Where grains are coarser, the enemies may get their skin sanded off. Drawing power from her dragon while casting this spell will set up a moving barrier of earth around a target. ?Like a flower that on grows on the precipice?: Rock fragments break away from the ground and embed themselves into the target. Depending on how Nerissa finishes the chant, the rocks could either pierce through the target's body, or explode. When linked with her dragon's power, leaves shoot up with the rock fragments and behave as blades that cut and slice across the surface of the target. ?Open the path of greatest danger?: Not an actual spell but coupling this with unsealing chant lets her magic break its second limit. Though the strength of her spells will be amplified significantly, everything within their effective range will experience full blasts of their offensive properties, including the caster herself.
Personality: The Lady of Lohmeyer prizes congeniality and astuteness above other virtues. People who know her remark at how easily she can engage people in conversations about their lives and views, and how open and receptive she is to them. She is honest to a fault, and courteous even in the midst of heated arguments. Though she has adapted to the ways of commonfolk, she still shares the eloquence, the solemnity and the commanding aura of other nobles. Bio/Snippet: ?How strange it is, my lady,? the knight began. ?...that I now despise the rapture that sprung forth from my bosom when we met under the birch boughs many moons ago. That in rejoicing, my heart was clouded from the measures of bitterness and longing this sundering now incurs from it.? ?Though I did not expect our parting to be so soon after we pledged our troth.? He laughed bitterly as he held her hand, its familiar softness he relished as he pressed his palm on hers. The string around one of her fingers was still red, vivid. It was not long ago that he tied it with a promise of a real ring once all of their barley was reaped and sold. But the battle with the Empire drew near. It would be fought under the harvest moon and would place him far away from their fields, from his home, and from her. This had troubled him ever since the army messenger visited their manor but it is only now, when he was about to leave, did the possibility of breaking his promise seemed real. His thoughts were broken by the dulcet tones of his maiden's laughter. He looked at her wondering. ?Why do you laugh, Nerissa?? ?Because what you said, Mereas,? she said as she placed her other hand on his. ?...was absolutely ridiculous. How does the worth of a season's parting measure with the twenty-four years we have spent as youths unacquainted?? She brushed the flaxen strands off his face and looked straight into his eyes. The way they shifted reflected his faltering resolve. She knew then that she should not keep him any longer. DRAGON Name: Muscat Color: Green Appearance: Muscat 's long, serpentine body is marked with a line of iridescent bronze dorsal fins characteristic of the Qin dragon breed. Her tailfins and claws are also of the same color, albeit more metallic than shimmering in terms of light play. Red and russet strands on her snout form what look like a thin moustache that extends well beyond her nape. Dragonhide from this breed becomes more vivid in color as the dragon gets approaches the fullness of age; her verdigris scales identify her as an extremely young dragon, perhaps no more than fifty years in age. Personality: Around her rider, Muscat is plays the part of the spunky motormouth who would gladly share her day's new discoveries with Nerissa. Like a child, she is extremely inquisitive, gets easily excited and often shoots a series of questions when she encounters an unfamiliar object. Though precocious, Muscat is very much aware of her juvenility and may withdraw in the company of older dragons.

Ezekiel
Name: Fortescue Smythe Age: 19 Appearance: [link] Resistance: Validus Weapon: The swords pictured with him are the only weapons Fortescue has ever relied on. He doesn't like naming inanimate objects, so will only refer to them as 'his swords'. He finds naming things that could never call you 'master' an unnecessary bond. Spells:
Raidon's Song [Defensive]- The spell is a mixture of Raidon's natural abilities and Fortescue's ability to tap into the almighty power of thunder. With a high pitched screech, Raidon can shatter anything fragile which, more often than not, includes an opponent's ear drums. To back his partner up, Fortescue can create an almighty clap of thunder to distract and disorientate. Ice Ringer [Offensive]- Using the power of ice and water combined, Fortescue can create a swirling circle of water around his target, freezing it at will to lock them in place. Usually, the ice will shatter after a few seconds, taking the one trapped inside with them. Blade of the Elements[Weapon Support]- Fortescue made sure his blades were made of the finest metal, even going so far to have seals placed on them so they could stand against intense temperatures. He can either use his ice magic to create a layer around the blade, or to lengthen it. Conversely, he can have Raidon breathe fire on the swords to make flames dance along to edge, using the intense heat to cut through the strongest of metals.
Personality: Fortescue is brash and hot-headed, seeing himself as a person who has every right to be after what he was put through in life. Born to peasants in a large family, of which he was the oldest child of seven, Fortescue never experienced the luxuries or advantages others had. He was not educated properly until he was discovered to have a natural talent for swords and military strategies at the age of 15. He tries hard to separate duties from play, and despite the kindest efforts of others he won't let anyone in close. He still supports his family as best he can, and will visit whenever he has the chance. It's almost as if he puts all his positive energies into keeping them happy. He is energetic, to boot, and is more content when doing something, whether it be training or helping people in need. Despite his attitude to fellow Riders, he likes helping out those not so fortunate. He enjoys being with Raidon and trusts him wholly, knowing that the dragon and himself share a bond he couldn't ever find with anyone else. Quick to anger, and quick to act upon his emotions, Fortescue still shows signs of immaturity the other members of the resistance will often scold him for. His arrogance shows through often, which has been his downfall on more than one occasion. However, despite his 'attitude' and apparent dislike for fellow Validus, Fortescue is loyal and would put his life on the line for any other rider or dragon without even thinking, even if he wouldn't ever let them forget it afterwards. He constantly jokes that if he ever dies for one of them, he'll come back to haunt them and drag them to the grave with him. Dragon Name: Raidon Colour: Green Appearance: [link] Personality: Raidon is a contrast to Fortescue's annoying habits and personality quirks. He is soft spoken and treads carefully, something that is a constant annoyance to his young rider. He reminds the boy that he is far, far his superior, and if he doesn't calm down he'll have to learn how to fly himself pretty quickly. Soft at heart and always willing to listen to problems and complaints, Raidon is almost like Fortescue's teacher or grandfather. While the boy has never expressed his love for the dragon, he feels it when they fly and in those moments are exactly aligned. He hopes that some of his gentleness will rub off on Fortescue, but can't help but wonder if the boy would be as interesting if that ever did happen. Despite this kind side, though, a battle will change everything. While still carefully calculating, Raidon is a fierce opponent with skills in battle honed far further than his young rider. Raidon won't always take orders from Fortescue and sometimes goes his own way, something that the young man finds annoying but, possibly even more frustrating, is that his dragon is always right. They share a bond far more than close friends, and Raidon often finds it hard to comprehend that Fortescue is only a human, and a mortal one at that. The thought of losing him, whether in battle or through old age, is something that truly terrifies him. Bio/Snippet: Fortsecue looked out into the expanse of sky, the dirty ground beneath him a comforting sense of being and esitence. He liked solid things and the way they connected, and the way they told him he wasn't going to fall and fall and... He reached out a hand to rest it on Raidon's giant muzzle, the dragon opening one seemingly ageless eye to glance at the young man. His hair was out of the braid and spilled over his bare chest and shoulders, wavering only slightly when the warm breeze picked up. "You like it up here, don't you?" Raidon asked, his voice much like the rumble of distant thunder. Fortescue turned his head, smiling softly and nodding in response. "I like how I can see nearly everything," he remarked, chuckling softly, "And not feel as though I might plumet to my death." Raidon shook his mighty head, which Fortescue, while alarmed at first at the action, had come to know as his expression of a laugh. Only a snort escaped the dragon's cracked lips though, and he joined the rider in looking out across the forest and grasslands. "You know I would never let you fall, young fool." Fortescue raised his eyebrows and punched the dragon softly in the neck, gaining a swift tail to the back of the head. He liked it when the pair could be alone like this, it was one of the few times he felt as though he could let his guard down and relax, be himself again. The other riders made him nervous, and despite Raidon's urgings he never foud the guts to show his true colours. Perhaps one day he would...and perhaps someday he'd learn to fly without his dragon. [strike]I will have this done before Tuesday, but my muse is running low x_x Let me know of any problems~[/strike] Done~
Inuyasha Fandom
OOC: hey... um...... can i just be a peasant with an unknown dragon trying to make it on the world if i'm not able to be one of the dragon riders? ^^ Name: Saio (no last name) Age: 15 Appearence: A young boy, he wears a simple travelers cloak and tunic, both dark in color, and weather freindly. He has a freindly yet aristocratic look about him. He wears a simple coronet, with a jeweled flower as the precipice. Weapon: He weilds not a physical weapon, but 'flower power'. Any plant he comes into contact with can become a weapon, a sheild, or armor. Spells: Saio is a serious threat, if he is able to come into contact with flowers. By tapping into the hidden magics within a flower, he is able to heal or deal out substanial amounts of magic. As such, he holds several blooms within a leather pouch. Rose Magic: The most vertisile flower in terms of magical properties, He can change it into several weapons, including a sythe, a thorn laden whip, and a quite ornamental sword. There are also a few healing powers contained within the blossom. Lilly Magic: Very potent healing properties are contained within this bloom, as the ability for Saio to weild it as a sheild. Most often, he calls forth the energies to cure poison. Dragon's Breath Magic: This plant is more so for dragons. If ingested, the person who has consumed the plant can take on several dragonlike charactersistics, like the breathing of fire and boosted strength. If Eaten by a dragon, this plant makes the dragon's physical pain melt away, and the healing of wounds to be faster, and stronger. Saio also has the ability to weild this plant as armor. Personality: Sweet natured and quite taken with flowers, one can often find him in a garden, looking and smelling flowers. However, he's also more cut throat then even the most vicious criminals. Being a Flower-mage, he knows he's veiwed as girly, even a sissy. But he knows he's found his calling. He can smell a flower a mile away, and usually never picks one, unless he needs to. Nature is his way of life, and he's quite angry with the war's toll on it. Dragon: Name: Sugar Appearence: A young dragon, not quite adult, but still not yet an adolecent. Color: white Personality: Quite easily angered when called a child by others, Saio often has to calm him down. But, much like Saio, he has a passion for flowers. He oten ask Saio about them, and likes to smell new flowers he's never seen. He's sweet and kind, but fearful of battles, and so tries to shy away while Saio protects him. But when it matters, Sugar will fight alongside him. Bio/snippet: Saio looked around from the safety of Sugar's back. Sugar was big, but not even nearly fully grown. "So what are you whinking about?" Sugar asked, his silent voice filtering into Saio's head. "Nothing much.. But still, something's bothering me." "What is it?" "There's been rumors of someone who's been dead walking around an old battlefeild." "And?" "The battlefeild was a meadow of flowers..Where a dark sorvcerer once cast his magic..." "What's so bad about that? "Magic has a habit about lingering within a flowerfeild. If that is the case, then the man is actually possessed by dark forces within the flowers. I.. never did like BloodFlowers." "What are those?" "Flowers that have blossomed within dead things, and are inheritantly evil, wishing to drain life from the world..." "Ah.. no wonder you'd be upset, Sugar walks along, and sniffs a daisy growing near the path. Saio laughs, hopping down. "So, Sugar, wanna eat? I have some cupcakes in my bag...." "OOOO!!!!!! YAY!!!" Sugar begins acting rather like a dog, bouncing to Saio, exitelent bright in his eyes. Saio laughs again, and kisses Sugar on the nose. He snorts, and shakes his head. Come on...... cupcakes!!!! "Fine fine...." Saio produces the said cupcakes, and tosses one up to Sugar, who snaps onto it, happily gulping it down. Saio laughs, and remembers how he and Sugar met. "Remember how I had a cupcake... and you snatched it when I offered it to you?" "Yeah... and then you saved me from those hunters..." Saio laughs. "Yeah.. you wern't much smaller then...." Sugar sits down, and positions his head to that Saio could pet him. "Those hunters had killed my parents....but I showed them..." Saio's face darkens, ans Sugar nuzzles him. "But you have me, and you know I'll always be there for you." "And I you. You are the most important thing that has ever happened to me." "Thank you, Saio. But we should getr going." "I have more cupcakes..." "Then share them!!!" Saio laughs once more. "Alright.. then lets eat."
