Ellerby
Genre: Listed as Action but really it's Platformer/Puzzle Release Date: April 9th, 2007 Publisher: Nintendo Developers: Intelligent Systems Plot: "Princess Peach is forced to marry Bowser by Count Bleck; a book called the Dark Prognosticus predicts that the marriage will open a dimensional rift that will engulf the universe. Mario is transported to the town of Flipside, where the Light Prognosticus states that a hero matching Mario's description can close the rift. To accomplish this, Mario must find the eight Pure Hearts." -Wikipedia Description: "The newest chapter of the Paper Mario story isn't just out of this world ... it's out of this dimension. What at first glance appears to be a 2-D sidescroller ripped straight from the pages of the Paper Mario universe soon turns into a 3-D action-adventure that defies all video game logic. Fusing 2-D and 3-D perspectives, not to mention RPG and platformer elements, the game slips back and forth between dimensions. The action sprawls across eight worlds filled with traps, puzzles, bizarre mysteries and items that often draw themselves out of thin air. Oh, and just because Mario's in the title doesn?t mean he's the only star -- players also get to play as Peach and Bowser." -IGN Images: IGN Pictures, GameSpot Pictures Videos: GameSpot Gameplay, IGN Gameplay, GameTrailers Gameplay ------------~------------ Alright! So, who else is excited for this release? It's less than a month away so I'm so excited. The puzzle solving seems really cool, especially with the whole 3D turn idea. Also, if you watch some of the videos you'll notice you have an entire inventory like the other Paper Marios. You have these little faerie things (Pixls, as they are referred to in-game) that follow you around one at a time and have different uses. One of them lets you plant bombs, another lets you grab enemies from afar... lots of fun! Thoughts? I'm as excited for this game as I am Super Mario Galaxy! :/
Kenshin DX
Hell to the yes. I'm really looking forward to this one. SPM looks like it will be a triple A title. It''s still not my most anticipated Wii game(Brawl still has me won over) but this game is making me want March to end and April to start. The only thing I hated in the last PM was the dialogue. But I can look over that if the combat system and puzzle elements are as great as they look. This game , Mario Galaxy, and Brawl are making me extremely glad I got Wii. -KDX

I'm so excited about this. I've never played a platformer where you get items and levels with puzzles to boot.
Kitty
I'm a huge fan of the Paper Mario games, owner of both the original N64 and the GameCube versions, and if I didn't have a reason to get a Wii before, this game alone would warrant one of those fantabulous systems. From the trailers, I'm both amazingly excited and a bit anxious of what the game will perform like. It looked a little confusing to me
(for example, the going through the 'door' and spinning the world around you seems like it would be very useless ability if you didn't know where you had to use it)
. But the fact that we can play as not only Mario, but Peach and especially Bowser as well, means I, for one, will definitely NOT be disappointed with this title. Make April come faster! D:< edit :: I used spoilers just in case somebody didn't watch the trailers, and wanted to be surprised or somethin'. *shrug*
SaiyanPrincessX
I loved both Paper Mario games, so this is an awesome treat. The only problem is that I don't own a Wii, so yeah that could prevent me from playing just a tad. XD I'm not sure about the "boxy" trees though. I think it makes the screen look too cluttered.
Kenshin DX
OK this thread died pretty fast so Ill revive it. After playing SPM to completion it has been a great game. Not at all what I was expecting but great nonetheless. It has gone in a compleltly diffrent direction then the original and TTYD. Since the previous titles focused on quick reflexs and combat. This one is almost strictly puzzles. With some platforming. Which will either please or dissapoint fans. The graphics still kept their charm and the dialogue was actually really good and sometimes funny unlike TTYD. I just wished they had encorpated some more platforming and RPG elements into the game. It was cool playing as 4 characters as opposed to just Mario and the story while crazy was entertaing. So while it may be almost nothing like the games that came before it.It is a great Mario game nonetheless.
