Art T-shirts

Here are some T-shirt designs that i have done, i'm hoping to sell them but i have to speak with Vix before i do so, or the creator of death note. But i was wondering what you all thought of them?

btw these are just sample versions, better high quality version will be created in a short while so that i can print them on a T-shirt for personal use

hm... i think those t-shirt designs are nice. I'd wear them. The only thing I would by iffy about are the liquid spots on the t-shirts, simply because it makes the shirt look a little messy. Other than that, it's still something I'd check out if I saw it in a store.

hahaha, yes i thought that after i done the first ones, and my friend said the liquid (well there paint) splats looked like something else....

but i am in the middle of cleaning up both t-shirts, hopefully Viz will get back to me and give me the go on selling them as t-shirts

Agreeing that all the splatters are a bit too much. A few might be okay though (hahahhaa, but I abuse splatter patterns to no end, so...)

I don't mind some of the splatter on the L shirt (mainly the splatter at the bottom right only. under the image and maybe the one under the top section of the L?), but it seems sort of just extra on the Raito one for some reason.

aww, yeah i can see it now.

They do need to be refined alot tho, the L t-shirt is slight different now, the outline is better but his hair is all white instead of an outline

haven't clean the Light version yet, btw does anyone know how to put the resolution higher on a pic?

I haven't gotten around to reading/watching [I]Death Note[/I] yet, but if I was a fan, I'd definately buy that shirt. Great job on the designs. *thumbs-up*

[size=1]Personally, I think you're over using those splatter brushes a tad bit too much. A few would have looked nice, but just placing them randomly and in excess makes it look... well, not as good I suppose.

Try holding back on the splatters.
This is besides the point, but are you printing the shirts yourself or are you having a company make them for you?[/size]

well see i still have an issue with Viz, i've sent them to emails and they haven't answered either of them. But there will be two one off copies for me and my friend for when we go to the anime convention on the 26th of may, so i would have liked to here from them by then.

Here is a test i done, i used iron on paper to tranfer the image onto a black T-shirt, just to see how well and how it would look. (Btw it's not yellow it's white it's just that i took this at 1 am this morning =o). But if i were to mase produce them they would be screen printed, because this process would take too long. Considering i have about 30 people interested in buying the L shirt and the light.

btw the main reason i added the paint splats was to cover up the edges of the image that were straight

I liked the L image better when it was just an outline and the hair wasn't white XP but maybe that's just me?


If you are selling these at a con, I don't think getting an ok from Viz as being that important. People sell fanart, buttons, stickers, and so one all the time at cons without asking anyone for permission. Granted, most of these cases the art involved is fanart of some kind and not official art, but still kinda the same thing.

To avoid using the splatters and still use the image, you could prolly find an artist somewhere who would be willing to help you out and redraw the missing bits of the image?

[size=1]I actually really liked the original plans, the main thing I liked about them was the pain splatters, actually. It gave it a grungy feel, which seems to be well in tune with the rest of the design. I really like that kind of thing, though, so I guess I'm biased. I would have definitely bought that L shirt, though! Very nice. :)[/size]
