Nerdsy
All animation is technically anime. The Japanese took the word "animation," transliterated it, and shortened it to anime. They refer to all animation as anime. We took it and we use it almost exclusively as referring to "animation from Japan," but it's at best slang and thus the definition is going to vary from place to place.
2010DigitalBoy
Not to mention, most people don't know the difference. It's the same with 'Avatar' and 'Samurai Jack' and 'Dragon hunters' and much more...
SunfallE
Welcome to OtakuBoards Ayame Sensei, I'm going to be closing this for a couple of reasons. First even though Invader Zim is not a 'Japanese' anime/animation. You would still want to discuss this in the Anime Lounge. Also, when starting a thread it's usually a good idea to put more into the opening post to get the discussion going. For example you could have taken the time to explain why you think people might consider Invader Zim an anime instead of an animation or cartoon as it is called in America or where ever you may be from. Please take a moment to review the rules and FAQ as well as the various stickies available in each section of the boards. If you have any questions feel free to pm myself or another member of the staff. ~SunfallE Thread Closed
