Procastination

We all do it. Procrastination is what gets us in trouble in the long run. It also entertains us in the meantime while we avoid what we should do. Otakuboards is a fine place to procrastinate. I have been procrastinating here since 2003. Gotta love it.

Do you guys procrastinate often and what do you do to procrastinate?

Lol, I've been procrastinating here since '03 as well. Anywho, I think the Otaku Lounge has gotten pretty emo lately (not hanks to me, the almighty king of emo posts) so I'm going to spare you my essay-length sob story about how procrastination is the fabric of my plotless existence and just tell you to go watch Welcome to the NHK.

The irony of just about to start a 4 page book report I have to do in 3 and a half hours. It really shouldn't take me more than 2 and a half, so I'm not that worried. Sadly I had a whole week to do it, but here I am now.

This will be about the forth paper I've procrastinated on these boards. I felt pretty guilty about it each time. I got my work done, but only at the very last minute which is never good. Allowing yourself more than enough time is the most important thing to getting anything done on time. If you find yourself getting very distracted, take about a five minute break and make sure it only lasts five minutes. Taking a short walk works pretty well for me. And last, energy drinks never hurt but try not to crash.

Procrastination is part of my life, from school to errands at home..... :animestun

Like how I start studying for a calculus final at 12:00 and still pass with a 94, oh yea! :D Procrastination has yet to ruin my life.

But seriously, it's a bad habit, like one of those things we put for our resolutions during a new year but never succeed in doing.

I procrastinate.
I procrastinate saying things I should have said earlier. I'll be working on something and doing another thing at the same time. (Though I wouldn't really classify that as procrastination, but if I'm doing homework and then thinking about a new picture to draw.. I'll draw it. Then I'll finish homework.) I think it's natural to procrastinate sometimes (particularly if something is boring) My mind is never where it's SUPPOSE to be. Ever. My head is always up in the clouds.
I've always procastinated. Because of it I had to take 1st grade a second time. No ****! Well I have a story to tell...

I'll post it later.
Procrastinating a story in a thread, huh? Tsk tsk, sounds like a recipe for disaster to me.

In fact, what that sounds like is a story I started writing here called "Absolute", and I still haven't finished it! I feel that so long as I'm posting on these boards once again, I might as well wrap that story up too.

As far as schoolwork, I think I was at my worst in early high school when it came to procrastinating, but my last years of high school and college put enough pressure on me that I learned not to leave my work to the last minute.

When I procrastinate...I usually search Wikipedia for random things, like information about something from a game or a movie I saw recently, or what exactly a disease last seen on an episode of House M.D. does to a person.

As long as I'm procrastinating, I may as well pretend to learn something.

Do you like to watch that show when you procrastinate? If so, you might like another Japanese show called Desnha Otoko. I procrastinated many times watching that. Just two weekends ago I spent an entire weekend watching the two hour special of Densha Otoko that took place two years after the show ended. I just watched it over and over. Not only that, I remember procrastinating another weekend watching several episodes of Bleach and Deathnote. Fun times.

nonono, NHK is a story of my procrastination, really. I've heard of Densha Otoko thought.

Indeed, do pandas procrastinate? What about elephants? What happens when an elephant does forget?

Would you care to explain why it is a story of your procrastination? I am sure that everyone procrastinates from time to time. However, animals will eventually become hungry and go hunt or eat. Or if they procrastinate the entire time, they will die. If an elephant forgets something, I am sure that it will be a fine time for me to procrastinate and laugh at the elephant for being a retard. Anything other than my responsibilities are more fun.

Sometimes I do this too when I procrastinate. It turns into "The six degrees of Wikipedia" for me. Which is how I found out that TM Revolution actually played Seymour in some sort of Japanese version of the musical Little Shop of Horrors - it's on his Wiki page. (My school's spring musical was Little Shop and all my friends were in it, that's why it was of interest to me.)

Other times, I'll go on Otakuboards (it IS a very fine place to procrastinate. ;) ), or read fanfiction. Fanfiction is an awful way to procrastinate, because I usually end up procrastinating more than I meant to. (If that makes sense.) *_*;

I usually only procrastinate on school work (like this major English paper due next week. urgh. >___<), or on cleaning my desk in my room. I just cleaned it off, but usually it's piled high with stuff. ^^;;;

I'm usually pretty responsible with "important" things though. Hehe.

Pandas certainly are procrastinating when it comes to breeding in captivity; the same with Elephants. It's not that they don't have the ability to breed, they simply don't have the drive. The worst part is that if they don't hurry up with it both of their species are going to go extinct.

At least when I procrastinate the worst thing that can hapen is that I'm late for work or miss turning in a paper or something.

...procrastination causes trouble in the long run, huh? Just how long is this "long run" exactly? I'm still waiting..
Now of course, being able to write a decent paper in a day doesn't hurt... Or being able to pass just about any test with like half a second of review. They say college is harder... I hope they're right...

What do I do to procrastinate? Probably read manga, or watch an anime, or play wow, or read a book, or stare at nothing, or sleep, or eat, or pretend I have a photoshop assignment... the list goes on...

One time I procrastinated so long that suddenly I found myself in a yesterday so far yesterday that then became a today for me. So there I was, 1776, and George Washington looked at me and was talking about yankee-doodle-dandelions or something I wasn't sure. So then I was all, "George--is it okay if I say something to you?" And he nodded, and I said, "Well, seven years ago I four scored. . .on this one test in my class. . .but you see here I was procastinating and well--I am daydreaming." George nodded and then he said to me, "Sounds like quite the emancipation proclamation." Then suddenly my head came up and here I was--staring at an open word document where all I had typed were a slew of random letters, and I thought to myself hey now here's a real damn good paper--so I turned it into the teacher and she failed me.

Okay, firstly, I would like to say that TM Revolution is very strange little man...and I now have bizarre images of him and a plant in my head. Some of his music is good; great for dancing, but he himself....very strange.

Anyway! I definitely procrastinate! On schoolwork, housework, just about everything. I have a hard time focusing on things. I'll flit from task to task, and end up getting very little done. When procrastinating, I'm either chatting online, watching anime, watching music videos, talking on the phone, or posting in forums. Espresso usually gets me to focus on getting things done. I have a pretty good system. I drink espresso, focus, and drink another when I can tell the first one is wearing off, and so on.

Nope, can't say I've ever done this before. Nope, not at all- no procrastinator me! Not at all!
