Sasori
I do prefer the romantic, action drama type like Fruits basket, DNAngel, Bleach, Inuyasha, Naruto and Ouran High School Host Club ^_^ But more romantic/drama than action
I'm enclined to agree with you. When I first started watching anime, I was drawn to the shounen pure-action anime, with comedy on the side. Now, I'm up for anything really, but I prefer the romantic drama area a *wee* bit over action/comedy. Anime that can masterfully blend at least some of these together receive top scores in my book. affection
I can't really generalize my taste. I generally like comedy, drama, horror, scientific... action packed anime! A little bit of everything I suppose. I enjoyed xxxHOLiC (one of my first loves :D), Fruits Basket, Yu-yu Yakusho, Ouran High School Host Club, Monster, Romeo x Juliet, Kodocha (which was crazy and annoying at first but still kind of cute), Death Note.. and so forth.

2010DigitalBoy
bleach and inuyasha are romantic?! Romance is dead, then XD i like shows that are creative. If you have the power at your hands to do animation, you can really do whatever you want - any sort of images can be displayed to create a story. I also like shows to be deep and meaningful. Naturally, I love Eva, but there's others as well. Series like Serial Experiments Lain are amazing because not only do they convey an outstanding plot, but have a unique visual atmosphere. Things like the shadows that link to the web, Lain talking to the mock chesire cat lips, and the grainy, pixly nature of the video game world are all great. Now, I could go on about how I like things deep and psychological, but really, i like that in any form of media - novels and manga as well. In any of them i enjoy a well-made strory that entertains. So I'm only going to bring up here the things that only anime can pull off. Anyone who's seen anything by Shinbo can tell you exactly what I'm talking about - eccentricities and atmospheres unique to the world of animation - that's what I like to see. In fact, I should really just stop talking and tell you to go watch Hidamari Sketch.
Xerxes
Inuyasha and Bleach are romatice?! I didn't know that. Well Inuyasha does have a little bit of romance and I'm not sure about Bleach but come on, these anime are more about fighting. Besides that, I enjoy shows that are well done in my eye and catch my interest. I like shojo anime like DNAngel, Fruits Basket, OHSHC, Fullmoon, and so on. I'm also a big fan when it comes to gothic themes and lolita themes -hence my name-. I love XxXHolic and Tsubasa and many other works done by CLAMP. To me, they catch my interest. Some action animes catch me, like Ruroini Kenshin and Naruto. I love the way it's done and it's ultra-cool! A few animes this year have caught my interest big time. They're Spiral: Suiri No Kizuna, Gakuen Alice, Karin, and many others. I'm so happy that Spiral is coming out in fall here in the U.S! They caught my interest because Spiral is a mystery anime and I love a good mystery, Gakuen Alice is cute and sweet with a bit of action and comedy, and Karin is so funny! When I watched it with my sister, we were laughing at almost every episode. Anyway, instead of me just telling you about them and you hearing my opinion on them, go and watch them for yourselves and see if you like them or not.
Guest Kazoki
Though I will watch anything, I'm usually into romance, action, and comedy. And, knowing anime you'll usually get a mixture of two of these, so it works out great.
Horendithas
Just about any show that doesn't have long drawn out fight scenes that take episode after episode to get to the end. Romance, comedy, action, etc. So long as the plot moves at a good pace I'll give it a chance. Of course there are some that aren't drawn out and I still didn't like them. But most of them, even if I'll never watch them again I did at least enjoy watching them once. lol In the end I suppose my favorite is comedy since I love watching something that makes me laugh. Like the second season of Full Metal Panic: Fumoffu. That was completely and totally fun to watch. In fact I probably ought to pull it out and watch it again. kamichamamew
:catgirl: I love magical girl anime! A little on the girly side... I'm usually really not a girly girl, but-- eeh! -_- So anyone here a fan? strwpoptart
I like action, comedy, and romantic animes. The ones that manage to have all 3 in one (with obviously good graphics and/or drawing) are the best and most awesome animes. For example, Fruits Basket didn't have so much in the way of action, but it had a bit of romance and mystery in it and of course it has comedy so all in all a great Anime. DN Angel had romance, a little comedy but not much, and of course action, so this was an awesomr anime too. Of course there are many other great ones out there that need mentioning, but we all know what they are. :animesmil
2010DigitalBoy
I decided to bring up another thing in anime: the humbling effect. I'm not talking about anime that doens't take itself seriously, nor do I mean lightheartedness necessarily. I'm talking about shows that don't try to go overboard with their plot or ideas and yet manage to have a beautiful story and portrayal. It's kind of odd for me to bring this up, because I also happen to be a fan of all things epic. In fact, when it comes to my writing as well, I always focus of epic-ness, though what I'd really enjoy doing is a work like one of these. It's kind of hard to accurately describe what I mean, so i'll do so through example. Kino's Journey has a very humbling effect. It's fun, it's intriguing, but it doesn't force itself on you. In fact, it doesn't put anything on you, but instead lets you formulate your own opinion. Unlike shows which go to great lengths to explain everything that's going on or make you feel sympathetic for the characters, Kino's Journey just gives you a beautifully-written adventure for you to enjoy. What's interesting about this is that it allows anyone to have their own ideas about it. It's not like the sort of show where you have an elitist troupe plugging 'this is what it means!!!!' down your throat like Eva or something. To some, it'll just be an interesting little adventure story, while to others it'll be a reflection of human nature. The biggest thing about that show in particular is that it lets you make a choice, 'is the world beautiful, or ugly?' and it doesn't give you an answer. But that's for a Kino's Journey thread... I would consider what I've seen of Haibane Renmei to have that effect as well. It's very dramatic, don't get me wrong, but not in a forceful way. It's not like when Rakka gets depressed she's got 5 people throwing messages at her and forcing her to make a decision. Then again, I've only seen half of this series, so I can't be sure. Another example, and I know I''m bringing this up again, is Hidamari Sketch (if I haven't given you enough indication that you NEED to watch this, I don't know what will. This show has little chance of making it oversea -- go watch it!!!). It's a comedy show, but it doesn't use jokes or force the characters into odd situations. None of the girls are weird or crazy (well, their teacher is) - it's just 4 art students and their lives but it's portrayed beautifully. ARIA might also be a good example.
Guest Kietaro40K
I'm generic-old skool, romantic comedies inclined to comedy are my thing. Funny Girl
I love anime that are romantic and that can make me drop down cry or laugh. I love it when a plot has the romance that it makes you feel sorry that they can't be together or something happens that it makes you teary eyed like Fruits Basket. It has all of my best anime points there. It's romantic, made me cry at the end, and has the comedy part for a sweet touch. I'm also interested in the mysteries. I loved the whole season of Mythical Detective Loki Ragnarok and Spiral. MDLR was an awesome series. I really do suggest it. I liked how they used gods from Norse Mythology and stuff. It was worth the money and time to get them. Spiral was different than most. I had seen the trailers about it and it caught my interest after the 15th time I had seen the trailer. It also has the mysterious theme in it too. I always tried to see if I could solve each sitituation that was given to Narumi before he could. It was awesome! ^^ XxXHolic was also a really good anime that had the erie and mystery theme incorporated into it. Poor Watanuki. :(
miss april
If I was the one to be asked, I really prefer any stuff, except for something
pornography
. Just to be sure that I gonna watch the anime with fun. I usually watch anime with humor and action because it rocks the story, it might have happen to us, possibly (Don't push yourself so hard when some scenes impossible to make it happen! ^_^) . In other words: I prefer comedy and action/adventure, and take note, drama is really there in every anime. I hope that this post can answer. :animeswea
Aaryanna
Hehe, I should copy and paste indifference's response since I'm exactly like that. I like just about anything until they drag it out needlessly. Well other than stuff with hentai in it. I don't care how good the story is. No sex! :animeangr Well obviously vulgar pornographic stuff that is. Implied doesn't count. Anyway...I also like mystery since in general I'm not a big mystery fan so a series like Case Closed aka Detective Conan is perfect since the anime elements in it draw me in and keep me from getting bored. But by far the stuff I like the best is comedy. Like the second season of Full Metal Panic: Fumoffu. I liked that better than the first season! Though you had to have seen the first season to understand just why the second was so funny! And that episode where Kaname got kidnapped and Sousuke goes to rescue her? Oh good lord I just died laughing. It was fantastic. When a show has you laughing so hard that tears are running down your face, it's definitely a sign that they did something right. :catgirl:
jen_sa
I like action and drama comedy and maybe romance depends on the anime it is. I like Ranma, Inuyasha, One Piece and others. Something funny that is.
Nickl4aPickle
I LOVE comedies - no doubt about that. I love to laugh! ^^ I also love romantic stories. :3 I'm a sucker for love. Those 2 points being said, my fave series include (but are not limited to): - Ouran High School Host Club - DNAngel - Fruits Basket - Love Hina
Tallgeese-
Very hard to give anime shows a title like, action, romance, comedy and etc. because they have all of those in all anime, weather they tilt over to one side rather then the other.
Rachmaninoff
Something that connects to real life in some way. To relationships and growing up. A good example would be Fruits Basket. In many ways it's a journey about growing up and learning to like ourselves. With wacky anime elements thrown in there in the form of transformations and other such silly stuff. Still I've watched that several times and I could easily sit down and watch the whole thing again. The next is something that's funny. Something that makes me laugh. A good example for this would be the second season of Full metal Panic. Even though I enjoyed the first season, the second one just had me in stitches. It's not often a show makes me laugh hard enough to have tears running down my face. Some of the episodes of season two were absolutely fantastic. Something a bit mysterious or an actual mystery. DNAngel comes to mind with the elements of Daisuke switching into a phantom thief. It just made for all sorts of funny situations as well as implications. I also like ones that actually are a mystery show like Case Closed since I like trying to figure out what's going on. But in the end, if a show's got good music, that'll drag me in quicker than anything. Take the show Harlock Saga which is Loosely based on the classic opera Der Ring Des Nibelungen by Richard Wagner. I was hooked before the intro had even finished.
Magus
Action, action, and more action. Whether it's gunfights, sword fights, or martial arts, I gotta have my action. (Which gotta be good btw) Can't help it. I grew up watching martial arts movies, and I'm not all that willing to expand my verizon. Atleast not at the moment. While I don't like animes that focus specifically on comedy or romance, if it's any in the series I'm watching then I don't mind it. But majority of the times that "comic relief" ranges from crap to mediocre. You might get a "heh" at best from me. Only anime that I really laughed at was Trigun. (And sometimes Yu Yu Hakusho) Romance... it's just not me. I get bored when it comes to these scenes where they want to slow the fighting down just for some emotional outburst of feelings being dished out. (I'm a robot :)) Drama... drama is in everything so I have nothing to say about that.
Roleni-Chan
Well throughout the years, I noticed that Im interested more anime from CLAMP. 9/10 of my mangas are from CLAMP and the rest are just random.

Romance is dead, then XD
... what an odd world we live in. but getting back onto subject, I'm usually into murder mysteries, and horror anime, like Ergo Proxy, but I really loved the space pirate genre, Outlaw Star is what got me here in the first place.
Miro
I like the sub-epicly deep stuff, like Cowboy Bebop. When I'm not interested in that, you can see me with my other two loves, .hack//SIGN and Trigun. Both oddly draw me too them.. And then occasionally, Dragon Ball and DBZ because Akira Toriyama's art style is a secret fetish of mine.
mangamaniack21
I usually go for romantic things like fruits basket and some parts of full moon, action and adventure, and comedy. I don't like my anime to be too serious or not have a lot of action in it, so if it's depressing i like a bit of funny stuff mized in with all the drama. A good fantasy always catches my eye too ^^.
