What kind of Anime do you prefer?
So to all you out there, what is your favorite anime?
My favorite anime as of today is Metropolis. It has a very interesting storyline and digs into the subject of "what makes us human?" It dug into the concept more than any other anime I have seen. Also It dealt with the loss of innocence and how the "yuppies" are controlling the lower class. It's a masterpiece really.
What kinds of genres do you look for when you search for new anime?
As of right now I am into really hardcore action. usually with gruesome death scenes and unhappy endings. I just got off of a shoujo binge though.
In any animes you may have seen, do you like anyone from it specifically?
Kino from Kino's journey. She is a bright girl. Also the creators use her to bring forth problems in toady's world and show you a bit of philosophy.
Anyone you wish was real?
To me that seems like the fantasies of a younger person or a child if you will. There's nothing wrong with being a child but I am not one so it is difficult for me to think in that mindset.
Some people say that i'm an inu-tard, but i'm only being passionate about what I love! My mom says that i'm going overboard with the anime... and I say NO!
A bit of advice. You might wanna listen to them and not write them off as "funkillers." If you go through life ignoring others advice life will be very painful.
How many of you have parents who are afraid you base your whole life on anime, or think its a horible kind of show? I know I do...
Not me. My parents worry about other more pressing matters. Then again I am not a rabid fan boy or anything so they have no reason.
:wigout:So, we all know the reason we are here... because we all love anime!! All of us have those anime shows that we like better than others, mine personally is Inuyasha or Fullmetal Alchemist. Of course, i'm a sucker for action;drama stuff. Lol... Lets see...

1. I'm trying to figure that out now by rewatching all my favorites. If I had to pick, though, it'd be Welcome to the NHK.

2. I've listed some here - namely psychological stuff, comedy stuff, and humble slice-of-life stuff. I'd now like to include that I like things which are over-the-top in an illogical way, and don't want you to answer all the questions. I'm watching wo of these shows now - Gankutsuou and Revolutionary Girl Utena, both of which incorporate insane or random things for the sake of entertainment without explanation.

3. I do. a LOT.

4. Anime characters are real. I, for one, am Lain, and thereby also Miyashita Touka

My favorite anime is Ghost in the Shell:SAC Gotta rewatch it again because I still don't know the whole story... (Still don't know what a Stand Alone Complex is, lol.) but I will listen to every word that is being said, although I've never been into the whole politics thing.

I can't relate to any of the characters but it has a nice cast. None of them are annoying IMO. The action is top notch (when there isn't any dialogue) which is always a plus being the action fan that I am. I consider this to have the best animation out there. (I'm pretty close-minded about it too so it'll be hard to convince me until I see it ^_^)
What kinds of genres do you look for when you search for new anime?
Action.
In any animes you may have seen, do you like anyone from it specifically?
Like as in finding one attractive? Nope. Or like as a favorite character? I have quite a few of them.
Anyone you wish was real?
Nope. (Y'all can have fun wishing things such as that :D)

what is your favorite anime?
If we are talking about a specific show, I don't have one, or rather I have several that all fit into the title of my favorite. If we are talking about types, then it's relationships, comedy, romance and mystery.

What kinds of genres do you look for when you search for new anime?
Definitely something that deals with relationships or how people get along. Too much action is a complete and total turn off. I want to see character development, not silly power ups and new moves.

In any animes you may have seen, do you like anyone from it specifically?
I have characters who are my favorites, but as for like? No, they aren't real after all. lol

Anyone you wish was real?
No, wishing an anime character was real is pointless.

My mom says that i'm going overboard with the anime... and I say NO!
Well, be honest with yourself, are you actually ignoring other aspects of your life for anime? If so, then she's correct. And being obsessed, no matter what the subject isn't exactly healthy.

How many of you have parents who are afraid you base your whole life on anime, or think its a horible kind of show?
I would have to say that my parents don't really care. My mom does not like it, my father likes anime movies such as Howl's Moving Castle. But in the end, I'm 36 and haven't had my parents tell me what to watch or what to do in quite a long time. Also, considering the jobs I've had over the years, its obvious that my life is not based on anime. lol

Good character design is the anime I prefer. There's really no correlation between my favorite anime, and they're pretty much all across the board. But they all interested me because I liked at least one of their character designs.

I know it sounds weird, but it's just true. Every anime that I've actually enjoyed had character design that was up my alley. Add that to my extreme pickiness when it comes to liking character design, and this explains why I haven't seen much anime. lol

As long as it's good, I'll watch it, no matter what genre it is. But if forced to choose a favorite I would have to say Romance. Especially Yuri Romance. And a little bit ov Yaoi Romance, like Gravitation. But I also really like Fantasy, Adventure, Comedy and Ecchi.

I always like something with supernatural, fantasy, romance and comedy.
My fav. anime always will be Yu Yu Hakusho, great supernatural/comedy series. I also enjoyed Basilisk, great action/romance scenes...storyline was almost like a rome x juliet ninja thing. And a new anime I recently started watching, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, I can't say to much about it from this point until I watch more...

I think it's definitely action-packed, comedy and fantasy animes.

Like: You Are Under Arrest, DragonBall, Samurai X (Rurouni Kenshin), Nia@7, Cardcaptor Sakura, Sailormoon, Doraemon, Chobits.

But my choice on anime kinds can be fussy (damn my fussiness:animesigh). It's all up to the quality of the story. Characters won't be a big deal to me, because characters are made up of the entire story divided by many plots. If the story sounds so similar and predictive, I got bored easily. If the story's so uber depressing and very into aggression and dwell in pain, I could not go on, which that will make my mood even worse!

Well... I do like supernatural. But not like... crazy magical girls and stuff. Things like Death Note and Bleach and the like... I also really love short series. XD It ticks me off when series go on and on and on forever. Horror is a real turn-on, too. And vampires!!! @_@ But what I love most of all is shounen-ai and yaoi. ^.^

Personally it doesn't matter what kind to me it mostly matters how it's written or the style it was done in,oh and anything thata last more than 45 episodes really shouldn't be watched i just don't have the attention span for anything past that.Anything with dragon or ball in it shouldn't be watch on the simple principle its all been done before in the first 500 episodes. if i have to sit through 20 episodes of someone powering up then NO.:animesigh
I like action, comedy, and romantic animes. The ones that manage to have all 3 in one (with obviously good graphics and/or drawing) are the best and most awesome animes.
For example, Fruits Basket didn't have so much in the way of action, but it had a bit of romance and mystery in it and of course it has comedy so all in all a great Anime. DN Angel had romance, a little comedy but not much, and of course action, so this was an awesomr anime too. Of course there are many other great ones out there that need mentioning, but we all know what they are. :animesmil
Strwpoptart, I guess you like Mermaid Melody. :P I love that too! My favourite mermaids are Hanon and Seira. x x x

I love all that Magical Girl anime such as Sailor Moon and Tokyo Mew Mew, they're just so kawaii to watch and they have that certain something that wants you to keep watching it. I also like anime's that have alot of fighting such as dragonball z and Naruto. I also like Mermaid Melody. :P

hmmm
I'm a pretty big fan of shonen anime but I also enjoy comedy and slice-of-life type of shows like Genshiken.
I find slice-of-life shows amusing because they potray real people and it's not always crazy and everyone acting like an idiot.

I'm personally into the action/supernatural style of anime. And not just any regular action. I gotta have stuff that atleast has a good bit of energy blasts within it. I guess I'm so big into that style because of Dragonball. But stuff like Yu Yu Hakusho, Naruto, Bleach, InuYasha, Tsubasa Chronicles and stuff like that, if it has any type of energy blasts whether it comes from the hands, sword, whatever, I'm more than likely into it. But I have to make sure the story is hot aswell before I can enjoy it.

Lately I've been getting into some dark animes though. Stuff like Claymore(which is f'n WICKED. I LOVE IT!), Death Note, and other animes like that.

So yeah, my varietes range. Hell, every now and then I'll get into some comedy animes. My style changes a little bit, but I'll always love the supernatural style.

Hmm it appears I like moe. I know I said I didn't before in that other thread but my anime collection seems to contradict that...huh. Well whatever. I guess I "prefer" moeish anime. Man Midori Days is Epic moe ness. DB you gotta see that series.

I pefer mature anime. Which in my case can mean several things: a maturity of emotion, a maturity of plot (anime that are complex and require you to really watch and pay attention to understand them), as well as 'mature' meaning intense and violent.

Mots of my anime falls under scifi, supernatural, and horror, with some comedy, drama, and even a little romance thrown in the mix.

I also like to find anime that are under the radar, stuff that isn't popular or very well-known. These shows can often be some of the best - Devil Lady, Haibane Renmei, Key the Metal idol, Noir, Requiem from the Darkness (as examples).
