Allamorph
If you don't like fruit, go away. Now. :D (Seriously. A debate over why fruit are and aren't good food is a terrible idea, and in the end is completely subjective, so the only possible reason for a fruit-hater to consider being in this thread would serve to do nothing except pick a fight. That's all, really. Not that I hate you or anything ... yet.) But yeah, let's talk about fruit. It's an innocuous topic. Likes, dislikes, faves, etc. You all know the drill. For me, I really don't like bananas. It's not that they taste bad or anything, just that after I eat one I always feel like making that face that Tim Allen made after he drank soy milk in The Santa Clause. It's incredibly mealy, and a very difficult texture to get off of one's palette. They're not bad with Cheerios, but other than that I won't eat them. Out of the rest, I have three favorites. Grapes I like as a muchie food for when I've got the nibbles, especially the green ones. Something about the tart flavor, I guess. Black grapes (or blue, or purple; whatever they're called) are just too sweet for my liking, and the red ones are only good in large quantities when they're served with cheese for some reason, so I usually stick with green. Seedless, in case you were wondering. Pears are pretty great, too. I'm bizarre in that I like them on the hard side; I suppose it comes from the fact that I've never felt that fruit is supposed to dissolve in your mouth. Besides, watermelon is the one that gets you covered with juice, not pear. (Although I admit that half the fun in eating a pear is trying to make all the juice go into your mouth and not down your face.) I think, though, that plums are pretty much the most perfect fruit ever. ("That's apple good" just doesn't make sense. :p ) When ripe, it's the right kind of fleshy and the right kind of sweet, with just enough tartness afterwards to make you want another one, and it's juicy without being dribbly. (Which basically means you don't have to eat it over a sink.) Blackberries are sweet also, but they tend to be a little on the crunchy side, and other spheroid fruit have that sticky citrus factor to deal with. Plums are just awesome.
pooperson
I love every type of fruit. Gyaaaa... it's amazing! My favorites are bananas, strawberries, grapes, lemons, & limes. Plums are also pretty amazing. On a related note, grapes taste much better frozen than normal. You need to try them in order to have lived.
TheResplendent
Tis quite unfortunate, but I am allergic to most fruits. Watermelon being the absolute worst. If i take a bite out of watermelon, my gums and throat swell up and it's really quite an annoyance. It would be easier to simply name the fruits i'm NOT allergic to, those being apples, grapes, and bananas. Oranges are second worst next to watermelon, however I still eat pineapple and strawberries despite being slightly allergic to those. I like em too much, what can I say. In any case, i am quite thankful for my allergies not translating to smoothies as I love getting smoothies at dunkin donuts. Mango and strawberry especially. I happen to like Lychee very much too, and luckily i don't have a noticeable reaction to those as well.
SaiyanPrincessX
I love fruit. I prefer fruit over veggies, but I eat my veggies too. - Apples - Pears - Strawberries - Rasberries - Blackberries - Grapes - Oranges - Pineapple I also love tart fruit, so green grapes and apples are the best. My favorite fruits are apples; green or Gayla. I don't like red apples, they're too sweet and I don't like the texture. Pears, if they arn't firm, then I won't eat them. I don't like the taste of a really ripe pear, and I don't like the juice running down my arm. Apples and pears are my most common fruits, because they are easy for snacking, and taking for break at work. My least favorite fruits are bananas, blueberries, watermelon, Centelope, probebly a few others I can't think of. I'll eat bananas occationally, because I know they're good for me, I'm just not crazy about the taste. Blueberries have a good flavor, at times, but I don't like the texture when you bite into one. Watermelon and Cantelope I just don't like period.
BlueYoshi
I think that everyone loves the generic fruit like apples, strawberries, oranges, and grapes. There are other fruits that are slightly more uncommon in some households and having middle-eastern parents, they're always trying to force them on me, seeing as they're the kind of foods and treats they grew up eating as a substitue for chocolate. But believe me, the table in my living room is always packed with bowls of melon, pineapple, strawberries, grapes, etc. It doesn't end there either, because they're dead keen on their vegetables too.
eleanor
A perfect peach beats it all, hands down. Not the kind you get in groceries, or even a whole foods/farmers market, but the one you find getting sold on the side of the road when you're out in the middle of northern Georgia. So, so amazing.
Dagger
Raw kiwis, cherries, peaches (except for the Japanese kind), nectarines, plums that aren't totally mushy and some kinds of apples (not the Honey Crisp variety) leave me with this weird scratchy aftertaste. I don't think it's an allergy or anything, but it's rather unpleasant, so I'll only eat them canned or cooked. That said, I love fruit, from bananas with peanut butter to hard or squishy persimmons. If I had to pick a favorite, I'd go with mangoes. Without any accompaniment, a ripe mango is so much more intense and delicious than any melon. Regular pears are okay, but Asian pears rock my palate. Also, clementines >>>>> every other kind of citrus. ~Dagger~

Sara
the Honey Crisp variety
As far as I'm concerened, Honey Crisp apples are proof of a loving and benevolent God. Even though they were engineered by horticulturists, haha?there must have been some divine intervention going on there. Red Delicious taste like month-old, stale carboard in comparison. (Not that Red Delicious need a lot of helping tasting like cardboard...) I'll sometimes buy a kiwi for a snack. I just rub off most of the fuzz and eat it with the skin, which a lot of people think is weird. But the skin is so tangy! Mmm. It totally makes the fruit. (If you get a really ripe kiwi, you can take a little bite, and just suck all the insides out, like a spider or something.) I also love raspberries, with a deep, abiding passion. And wild strawberries are pretty much the best thing you could hope to come across during a walk in the park. Ten kinds of delicious, they are.

I do love me some avocado. In California rolls, salad or as a plain side dish... it's all good. ~Dagger~
Fyxe
I have an odd way of eating fruit. I like the taste of a lot of them, but I just can't swallow the fruit itself, because of the texture. So, with things like oranges and grapes, I just suck the juice out of them. :p Then I have to throw away the rest. I really like melons, and bananas, though. I can actually swallow those with no problem. I usually put peanut butter on banana slices, though... adds a bit more flavor. Have a nice glass of milk on the side, and you've got a fantastic snack. I'm just beginning to be able to eat strawberries, but I usually like them in whipped cream better. Peaches are mighty delicious, too.

OMNOMNOMALY
I second the pomegranate =3 Soo good. I can just pick away at pomegranate for hours at a time. Too bad it's messy AND stains >_< I love strawberries, peaches, any kind of apples, grapes, and coconut. I looooove coconut. I love the smell, the texture, the milk. Mmm! Unfortunately for me, most of my favourite fruits just happen to be the ones that get caught in my braces... I tend not to eat fruit in public unless I have a toothbrush and toothpaste handy =P I can't stomache bananas, similar to you, Allamorph xD. The texture totally weirds me out and it has a really weird aftertaste. I think I must have had too many as a child, because apparently I ate them all the time. Banana OD, haha. I haven't been able to eat a banana since probably kindergarten or grade 1.
Panda
I too love all the generic "everyday" fruits like apples, pears, peaches, bananas and such. Unfortunately for me I have a condition called Sjogren's Syndrome which causes some issues with my mouth. It's another autoimmune disease like Rheumatoid Arthritis. Anywho because of this I have a very sensitive mouth so I can't eat any citrus or other acidic fruits. Pineapples, oranges, lemons, limes... they all cause mouth sores. It makes me very sad since I love fresh pineapple and really love orange juice. I also rarely get to eat mangoes, which are tasty, since my husband is allergic to them. He breaks out in poison ivy like sores on his lips if he eats them. Mango is in the same plant family as poison ivy (cashews are in the same family too). So no mangoes and cashews in this house. But all in all, nothing beats a Washington State apple. :catgirl:

OJ is the nector of the gods. :p I used to love kiwi's, but I haven't had any since I lived in a trailer. Which was almost 9 years ago. But they were good, now the only time I taste kiwi is in candy where it's just an imitation. Which is very sad btw. Raspberries are good too. As for strawberries, I hate eating them directly, but I don't mind the flavor of the juice they leave behind. Plus the smell is enlightening as well. But my favorite fruit is oranges. It's just the juices is SO good. What I do is i cut them with a knife and suck the juice out, plus I eat some of the fruit. I just love my oranges! Claire
I don't really eat that much fruit, since my parents never buy much of it. My dad usually gets several apples at the store every week, but I don't like how the skin gets stuck in my teeth. And I only like green apples, since the red ones have some pretty icky tasting skin. My absolute most favorite fruit are strawberries, though. I just love them more than any other fruit. Cherries are awesome, too. I have a soft spot for plums, but I've never actually had one--I just played one in a skit at school, and my friend and I have this ongoing joke about them. Aside from that, I'm a big fan of pineapple and strawberries. If I'm in the mood for a red delicious apple, those hit the spot. Bananas are fine, so long as I have peanut butter handy. Inkstitchling
This entire thread is making my mouth water... I love fruit. As for specific preferences, I like green grapes over red, possibly because green is my favorite color. Bananas are best when they're on peanut butter toast. My favorite kind of apples are Golden Delicious. I've been in love with them since my first grade teacher gave each of us a slice after showing us the "star" in the center when you cut one in half. Peaches are good in any form - I just had one sliced up in my cereal. I also love honeydew, cantaloupe, pomegranate, and mango. Kiwis are good occasionally, and persimmons are nice when fried. Dried fruit is Love. Fruit flavored candy is horrible, unless I've got a massive sweet tooth. But then I usually go for chocolate.

Although I'm more of an orange person, especially if they're sweet. (Prefer all my fruit to be sweet and seedless.) I normally just stick with oranges, apples, grapes and watermelon. I let everyone else eat the other stuff. I know I need to eat more bananas. I've been catching too many cramps, but like some of the other people here, I can't stand the taste. Can't say that I don't like strawberries seeing that I've never had any, and never been in the mood to try any new fruit. But if I were to eat some strawberries, err... nevermind :). I'll just try some one day. I use to eat pineapples, peaches and plums, but I guess I just grew out of the taste because I don't care for them as much as I use to back in my younger days.
Gavin
I love fruit, it's a shame between myself and my brother we can go through a week's worth of fruit in about twenty minutes if the mood hits. Apples, pears, bananas, grapes, strawberries and oranges are all good. I love pineapple but it's an absolutely chore to eat as the juice gets all over my face and chin. Mandarin oranges are great for snacks as a few of them generally taste better than a full orange to me, oranges shouldn't be peeled but rather quartered and eaten that way. Melons are probably the only fruit I know I don't like, along with lemons which I never realised people actually ate as a fruit by itself. Melons just have a weird taste that doesn't appeal to me. Watermelon is a different story though, if not for the seeds, it's be heavenly. Favourite juice drink: Apple & Blackcurrant, though apparently it's Apple, Grape and Blackcurrant.
