Horendithas
Well I'm glad to see people are receptive to my idea, I was pretty sure I was going to be told to be quiet and slink back into the annals of OB history, yes I'm looking at you Crystia ! :p Anyway, hopefully we won't get too many people demanding that the first title be "n00b Scum" or something along those lines. :animesmil
Ah, but I was not around for that history, when the idea of having titles based on post count existed. It's always been New Member and Member since I've been here. Heh. Seriously though, I don't see a problem with having an event for people to make a list of possible titles due to amount of posts. After all, like Beth said And even with the potential for spamming, it's not like it couldn't be switched back if it became too much of an issue. And she's right about the moderation side of things, dealing with spammy posts is much simpler and easier than it use to be. At this point all we really need is the go ahead from James to put together the wording for the event to be posted. If he's interested in actually implementing said titles once he makes a choice from those presented. It probably wouldn't hurt to have a guideline of how many tiers are possible or rather how many would be used to make it easier to make that final list if you will.
The Spectacular Professor
Also the word Otaku can apply to any sort of infromation specialist. I've heard the developers of Final Fantasy 12 call themselves "History Otaku". That does this mean that they are history obessed people who never surface for air besides the occasional need to get substinence and relieve themselves....? Certainlly not. I think in this sense, the word Otaku can be connotated as meaning "Expert or knowledgeable person" . So I don't think that using the strict defintions on a doubtable source such as Wikipedia, can be truly be the absolute meaning of the word Otaku. I call myself an Otaku on many different subjects: Journalism, Rhythym games, Fighting games, and so on and so forth. I don't think that it's a bad thing at all. Just don't take yourself too seriously though. Everyone has a little Otaku in them, whether it would be music, or clothing design and so forth.
Certainly. I remember a scene from Fullmetal Alchemist When Ed and Winry are arguing. Ed calls Winry a "Technology Otaku" (or something alond these lines,) and she retorts with "Alchemy Otaku." The term is used in plenty of different ways. Besides, I have referred to myself as a "Nerd" or "dweeb" before. I don't find it insulting. Therefore, it insults me not.
