.:[ Revy ]:.
What music is blaring your ear drums? Music that you're jamming to, thinking about a lover to, crying to, moshing to, getting crunk to, anything! Music sets the mood, what song are you currently feeling? ----- "Plot for a Little" - Camu Tao (As heard in the Blood+ commercial on AdultSwim) I'm not sayin' my body is shameless and I'm not sayin' I'm layin' with Satan...
2010DigitalBoy
I like this idea. Saving time! I'm listening to the album El Cielo by Dredg. I've listened to it countless times over the past two or three days since I just bought it earlier this week. So far I'm enjoyin it a lot, though I think a couple of the songs sound to much alike. It's weird getting used to a lengthier CD gain since the first album is so short. My favorite songs as of now are Same Ol' Road, Scissor Lock, Of The Room, and Canyon Behind Her. Currently I'm on the first track, Same Ol' Road. It's the one I've heard the most, since it has a music video which I was listening to a lot before I bought the CD. And since it's first on the album, no mater how early I have to turn it off, I always hear it. I fear I will get sick of it quick XD.
pooperson
I actually just turned my music off. But I had my Rhapsody playlist going on shuffle... so the last song I heard was "Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield. This is my favorite song of all time right now. It's incredibly inspirational, and - to put it simply - when your life sucks like mine does right now, it's good to hear.
Goodbye, Face
Generic thread spotted. My current love is anything and everything ever by Panthers. They simply cannot put out a bad song. At first, their music just sounds like normal rock, but in repeated listens, there's just so much brilliance in this band; the lyrics, the emotional guitar riffs, everything is just absolutely perfect. If I had to pick a song, it'd be "Thanks for the Simulcra," some of the lyrics are in my signature right now.
DeathKnight
I'm listening to the album El Cielo by Dredg.
Whoa that takes me back a couple of years. Right now I'm listening to Ruined by Jesu, a song off of what would come to be their first EP. It's a twenty minute long drone/doom metal song that is pretty tasty to my palate. I'd love to share it with you but Jesu's stuff is hard to find just floating around the net. I'd upload it to Vox but the MP3 of it is.. significant.. in size. This is a "trust me, it's awesome!" post.
SunfallE
Right now? Currently I'm listening to Nsync's Bye Bye Bye, both the regular song and the instrumental version. Before that? I was listening to the soundtrack to the Disney musical "Newsies" It's a great movie and fun music if you've never heard of it. It was supposedly inspired by the New York newsboy strik of 1899. Jakehammaren
Right now I'm listening to October Falls - Funeral Pyres. If you've seen my last.fm lately, you've probably picked up on the fact that I cannot get enough of this genius band (erm... solo-project, technically). Sazumechan
Right now pretty much all I listen to is Beautiful Girls by Sean Kingston. I go through different phases. Aberinkula
I've been listening to some Avenged Sevenfold lately, specifically Sidewinder, Blinded in Chains and Chapter 4. Why, well because I need to start listening to more of my older music, lately I've been playing Breaking Benjamin like crazy, I need to give them a break. I'm also listening to Down With the Sickness, and Shout 2000 by Disturbed. Soon enough, I'll be listening to some new music, hopefully. We've been money tight lately, and I really need new CD's. But I hope to get Ashes Against the Grain by Agalloch. And I might be getting a Coheed and Cambria album, it's possible. I'm trying my best to experience new content for me because I have not-so-epic bands under my belt. Kanji
Recently I've found that Yoko Kanno is getting the royal treatment on my playlist. In addition to her stellar work on Cowboy Bebop's soundtrack, I'm totally digging the music for Darker than Black and Wolf's Rain. There's also some very interesting stuff on the Turn A Gundam soundtrack (Gabriela Robin's vocal performance of "Moon" comes to mind), and her compositions for the video games Napple Tale and Uncharted Waters are golden too. Can't forget the Ragnarok Online 2 beta's audio, which is flowing celtic stuff weaved seamlessly into other styles. I've always respected her immensely as a composer who has a seemingly limitless mastery over musical styles, but it's not until recently that I've really tuned into her stuff. A friend recommended that I check out Kyoto Jazz Massive, and I'm definitely glad that he did. Certainly an interesting group - their fusion of downtempo and jazz makes for an interesting easy-listening electronic experience. Wikipedia seems to call them "broken beat", so maybe that's the best label... I know I'm terrible at labelling my music. :p I've only listened to their Spirit of the Sun album thus far, but the others are definitely on my personal hit list now. The album isn't without blandness, I suppose - sometimes the tracks seem to blur together when my focus is shifted elsewhere, which ultimately manifests a repetitive soundscape. I've found that the music is ideal for driving, adding some much-needed spice to otherwise boring road trips without being overly intrusive. Especially night driving. Right now? I'm listening to Maaya Sakamoto's Grapefruit album for the very first time. I love her sugary sweet voice, and the songs are rooted in an easygoing tone that she builds on effectively. Awesome stuff. Warmside
Lately, my music has been limited too a few classic rock albums and some strange gypsy punk polka stuff. Mostly, I've been listening too We're only in it for the Money by Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention, skipping a few tracks here or there. My favourite song, by far, is Absolutely Free. I've also spent a lot of time on Warren Zevon's last album, The Wind. I consider it the most amazing and beautiful piece of music ever put into print. His rendition of Knockin' On Heaven's Door blows Dylan's right out of the water. Plus any album that has Billy Bob Thornton providing backup vocals is cool in my books. In Between Evolution by the Tragically Hip is another one that's been on repeat... I didn't like it much when it was first released, but it's grown on me. You're Everywhere, Makeshift We Are, If New Orleans is Bead and Are We Family? are simply fantastic tracks. I still can't stand Vaccination Scar, though. The Gogol Bordello is another band I've started listening too. I don't own any of their albums, but they're just unique. Crazy bunch of drugged-out Ukrainians screaming and singing and playing the squeeze-box... really funky stuff. Start Wearing Purple and Nomadic Chronicle are just awesome songs. Assorted Others: Stan Rogers (Witch of the Westmorland, White Squall, The Nancy), Sly and the Family Stone (Everyday People, Sing a Simple Song), the Temptations (Papa was a Rollin' Stone), Neil Young (Cortez the Killer, this Note's For You, Alabama, Through My Sails)

Mostly I'm listening to it because my guest dislikes Opeth, but I doubt he'd recognize any of their music XD This is an amazing album and I havne't heard it in a while, so it's nice to revisit. The song in particuar is very similar to my life in the recent past and probably in the near future. SunfallE
Well yesterday it was rock music and a musical, today? It's stuff from the Romantic period. I've been listening to stuff by Johannes Brahms most of the day. I started with the Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 77, then Tragic Overture, Op. 81. Symphony No. 4 in E Minor, Op. 98 and the Academic Festival Overture, Op. 80. And now I'm on to the Piano Concerto No. 2 in B-flat major, Op. 83. I've lost count of the times I've pulled his music out to listen to. I never get tired of it. Especially the Piano Concerto No. 2, it's one of my favorite works by Brahms. What I love best is how much of it has a very rich and powerful sound to it. It's very dramatic in that it conveys a lot of emotion. Konata
To put it simply, a lot. =P Let me note a few. Sailor Fuku to Kikanjuu, sung by Katou Emiri, our lovely Kagamin~ CHA-LA HEAD CHA-LA, sung by Hirano Aya/Konata Valentine Kiss, sung by Fukuhara Kaori and Hirano Aya, a.k.a. Tsukasa and Konata Shouri da! Akumaizer 3, sung by Hirano Aya/Konata. And a lot of other Lucky Star renditions of songs. (Doraemon~) Lately, I've been also listening to Katamari Damacy songs. "Que Sera Sera", "A Crimson Rose and a Gin Tonic", and "Katamaritaino" are a few examples. I love the irony of hearing a man singing lyrics like "I'm so in love with you, I want to wad you up into my life~"(?) while battling it all out in fighting games. Another song is "You" from Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. Such a peaceful song~ "Marisa Stole the Precious Thing" - IOSYS. Rather, the other parodies of it. One of the ones that I almost always listen to now is the Higurashi version of it. With the constant Rena's "USO DA!", Mion's horribly hilarious laughing, etc. Of course, that 2ch/Nico Nico Douga MAD remix song, although I don't know the name of it. Ketsumeishi... Been listening to them too. And now I'm listening to Junkyousha no Yubi from the ALI PROJECT.
2010DigitalBoy
The Light Before We Land, opening theme from Gunslinger Girl. I am an absolute sucker for English lyric anime songs FWR. The Sore Foot Song and the opening from Shinigami no Ballad are also some of my alltime favorite anime songs. I don't know what it is about those vocals, but they suck me right in. I love the soothing nature of the song, though the parts where it picks up are also masterfuly done. An absolute gem of a song. Rachmaninoff
Naturally I just had to come across this thread when I'm listening to Rachmaninoff's second piano concerto. I've been listening to his works today and the second piano concerto is my favorite. Though if it wasn't Rachmaninoff, it probably would have been a different composer. I tend to listen to that far more than rock and I rarely 'blare' it so to speak. Piano concerto's are not meant to 'scream' in one's ears. That sort of takes the fun out of it.
