Stuff you do for money

Today my boyfriend and I went to a plasma donation clinic since we need the cash and it is 40 dollars your first two times and a little less depending on your body weight the times after.

Well we got screened and stuff and then had to wait like 5 hours.

During this five hours my boyfriends blood sugar dropped since we couldnt leave to eat. When they hooked him up he had a small seizure after about 15 minutes on the machine. Since they had screened him so early in the day they didnt know he was too weak for it.

I did fine but he got sick, threw up and he is not allowed to ever donate again.

He used the money to buy Shin Megami Tensei Persona 3 and he says it was worth a possible trip to the emergency room since he wouldnt have been able to afford it otherwise.

So you guys got any?

I was paid $75 for participating in a three-week study earlier in the year. It just involved answering questions a couple of times a day, so it was basically easy money. I don't think I'd do anything that involved needles or a heavier time drain, though.

I work too, i just wish it was enough on its own to pay for everything. I figure as long as i keep my blood sugar up i can donate once a week. The max you can donate is twice a week.

Thats 35 the first time in the week than 30 the second time. So thats 65 dollars a week meaning thats an extra 260 a month. Its not hard but its annoying to sit in a place for 6 hours twice a week.

I wish there was more of a stop and go place for plasma, like 7-11 for donations. lol

I stole a hundred dollar bill from my moms bf.
That's probably a bad thing but I don't feel any guilt or anything.
Him and her were messing around when my parents were still together so
it really didn't bother me at all. I find your boyfriends story to be somewhat
heroic and inspiring.

When I lived in Texas I used to get paid twenty dollars to donate Blood. My veins are too small for plasma, but I'm type O- universal donor so I figured since I hadn't been pierced or tattooed while I was living there I could use the extra twenty.

Also when my mom worked for this one food brokerage I dressed up in a Pilsbury Dough Boy costume and made eighty-five dollars. I forgot how much I made, but I was a starving half broke college student so I did it. And it was kind of fun.

Now I just try to sell things on Ebay from time to time. Oh and I work! I can't forget that (I just finished working 13 hours today so I had better not forget that)

I would try to get a part time job, but my mom doesn't think I'm responsible enough. If I can maintain Bs and higher the whole school semester, she'll let me get a job. But I'm afraid I don't have much confidence in myself, xD. (It's not that I'm incapable of doing well...I just don't try hard enough).

Anyway, this summer I had to save up to buy a bass guitar, so I went to my grandparents for work. They had my sister and me wash their car, clean its interior, and water their grass. That earned me about $15, so next I went to friends of my grandparents. This time my sister and I planted potted plants and spread mulch: $25 each (I think). Then it was back to the grandparents: I ironed some of their clothes and swiffered their kitchen. I still didn't have enough so I went back to their friends one more time, and my sister and I had to rake all the pine needles and leaves out from a small bamboo forest.

That last thing was the hardest. It was difficult to get the debris out from between the trees. The two of us probably got over 30 bites combined from all the mosquitoes we stirred up. Then there was the matter of stuffing the debris into garbages bags and hauling them around the house to where the garbagemen could pick it up. Those bags were really heavy, since we ended up collecting more dirt than debris, and there were about 20 of them.

I eventually bought the bass, so I have to say it was all worth it. I think I should've earned a lot more than I did (which probably was a total of $50, I can't remember) but as I only worked 2-4 hours each time I guess it was fair enough (despite the last job causing me to sleep for over 12 hours the next night).

Now that school is starting again, my mom (a teacher) gets paid regularly and will be giving me allowance every two weeks again ($32 a month).

Oh yeah, sometimes I see people holding signs like "CONDOS starting at $XXXX!" on the side of the road. I think that pays like $10 an hour, but I don't think I could ever take that up. Bleehhh.

Since I'm still a kid, I can do some things for hella easy money. For example, my family's into football, therefore we bought the Madden games (which suck by the way). I play my Dad in it for 20 dollars. Funny thing is, I don't even have to play him to the end, if I beat him bad enough in the first half he quits :p

Or even last week or so, we bought the game called Guitar Hero 2 (sure everyone's heard of it v.v'') and I play on Expert. My Dad plays on Medium. He picks free-bird and says, "If you can beat my percentage then I'll give you five bucks" a--and... he loses in the end because he can't hit a majority of the fast notes =D

So, mostly, my random easy money things have to do with games, but yeah :p

I worked as an assistant to the supervisor in my local high school for the state exams this year, which basically involved me doing four things:

Sitting on my *** reading/doing nothing.

Logging out people when they finished exams early.

Taking messages to other supervisors.

Bringing the supervisor her lunch or tea.
Made nearly ?300 for two weeks "work", as honestly, I couldn't even call what it that for what I did.

I used to do primarily freelance work, but these days I'm working regular hours for a national company. So it's not bad - I'm reasonably comfortable here.

I'm also now just starting to do some consulting work for another business (a non-profit company) and that is hopefully going to be a lot of fun. However, it does mean that I will now have to work weekends. Ugh.

But I guess that's how it goes - I saw a house I want to rent and I will need that extra money for it! So it's worthwhile. :catgirl:

I just finished my summer job at the Federal Home Loan Bank, where I worked from 9am to about 6pm, Monday through Friday. It paid pretty well, although giving up my summer wasn't very fun.

For pocket change, my buddy and I run a webdesign "business" (SHAMELESS PLUG) that does pretty well despite busy schedules.

When I get to campus, there are psychological studies you can participate in that last half an hour, and those pay $5. If it doesn't conflict with any classes, I think I'll look out for those.

I spin signs to advertise new homes in my city.
if you dont know what I'm talking about: Click Here to have an look.

I know the video doesnt have me in it, but it does have my boss [Justin] in it, before he started working in my city.

The pay is extremely good, $10 USD per hour, and I work five hours, and I get to pick the days I work.

I work for five hours, and I normally work on the weekends, so I usually end up with $500 USD. which is good for a kid like me, it keeps me from going insane.

The biggest thing I do for money is teach music lessons. It's not to bad since it is what I like to do. The only problem is that it's through the music program at my school since it's required for my education. So I don't get paid a lot and I have no choice over who my students are. It does pay well enough for me to live on, so I rarely keep a separate job since I really don't need it.

But sometimes I wish I could choose who I teach, at least for the private lessons. There are a few stuck up brats who think an expensive instrument automatically makes you a good musician somehow and it gets old having them tell the faculty that it's your fault they aren't making as much progress as they think they should. It seems that the realization that one needs to actually practice is beyond those few brats.
