Anime Favorite Anime Music

[COLOR="DarkOrange"]Oi. What are your favorite anisons and why? Or rather, what makes them so cool? The reason I ask has to do with the recent 100-greatest anison of all time list that the Japanese forum 2channel did which led me to do a top 50 list on another site which is still being judged. Over the last week and a half I've been addicted to anisons so I've created my own master to 50 list (you do NOT have to list this many, lol.)

Just to comment on my top few. Firstly, the[B] JAM Project[/B] masterpiece [B]SoulTaker[/B]. Oh my god. It's filled with power, soul, spirit, and pure, utter win. Honestly, if you can't enjoy it, your brain is deffective. Once you know the lyrics, the whole damn song is a battle cry.

I've talked about [B]Odoru Akachan Ningen [/B]before in the music thread. The winding guitars and psychopathical lyrics pump pure win into every second. [B]Boy[/B] is another awesome anthemic song of epic proportions.

The Light Before we Land is addictive and will trap your mind in an ever-perpetuating cycle of listening. It's calm, soothing, and yet as epic as any. Speaking of epic that's were [B]God Knows[/B] and [B]Gotta Knock a Little Harder[/B] come in. God Knows being the shorter, more energetic song with moving lyrics and vocals. GKaLH is the soulful stairway-esque epic masterpiece sent from the hell of the blues itself.

[B]Fake Wings[/B] From [B].Hack//sign [/B]is my favorite of all time. The lady has such a beautiful voice. It's amazing to be honest. There is no other song in music period that I have found that is like it. The instrumentals aren't uber difficult sounding but they go well with the singer. Also the Lyrics of the song fit well when played in the anime and also when you just listen to it. It's simple and beautiful.

I don't know if this counts as a video game song or what but Simple and Clean From Kingdom hearts is pretty good too. I think the person who created that song did songs for anime as well...so yea...If you heard it you know why I like it. The lyrics are nothing spectacular but they are nice and fit the song. The instrumentals are excellent.

Those are the top two that come to mind.

I listened to the first few...I hate J-Rock so I disagree with them...a lot.

Yea well if it was an actual anime song it would be up top....but I guess if Tool songs were anime songs they would be up top too...

That one is pretty good to. I didn't really wanna ramble about that one too...I was already sorta off topic with simple and clean to start with. That song is good though. It's got a that Epic feel to it. And if KH is anything it is Epic...

It combines Disney stuff (which is generally uber epic) and final fantasy which is basically decent rpgs game play mixed with epic cut scenes.(the anime is sorta epic when they fight omega).

Kaleido Star's OP is pretty damn good(New Wings). I just heard the whole thing and it's pretty catchy. It is kinda wacky and a bit inspiring at the same time. Which is cool.

I was wandering what everyones favorite anime intros were, so I finally dedided to make a thread for it. Just tell us the top anime intros that you think are the best and a reason behind why you like them, please.

Heres what I got
1. [U]Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex[/U]-Inner Universe
Simply because I think it has to be one of the best intros by far, the whole visual aspect of the intro made me want to watch it, even though the show had bored me a bit and was very confusing. The song was'nt Japanese either, but it fit with the intro itself, and was simply nicely done.
2. [U]Paranoia Agent[/U]- Dream Island Obsessional Park
I love this intro alot because it was different from everything else that I've seen. The music seemed a bit crazy to go along with the people standing in the most bizarre of places, it definitely kept my attention.
3. [U]Cowboy Bebop[/U]- Tank
This is an awesome intro, the music by far makes it one of my favorites, Yoko Kanno is a great composer, and Tank is a great song to prove that.

4. [U]Beck[/U]- Hit in the US
I loved this intro mainly because the characters of Beck were singing the song in the title credits, Hit in the US, and the song itself is very cool. I think the intro also shows what you're in for when you're going to watch the anime, by them playing there instruments and singing in the credits the whole time.
5. [U]Elfen Lied[/U]- Lilium
Even though I never really watched much of the anime, simply at the fact that I was annoyed by how much nudity there was in it, I enjoyed the intro surprisingly alot. The song and visual was very beautiful and mysterious.

6. [U]Evangalion[/U]- Cruel Angel Thesis
I heard so much about this one from my friends yet I never really got into watching the anime, but I took at some of the episodes, and experincing the intro, I loved the song alot,
7. [U]Samurai X[/U]- Sobakasu
I'm pretty sure it's the second intro to Samurai X(Rurouni Kenshin) Correct me if I'm wrong, but I pretty much picked it because it was one of my favorite anime and the song is so fun to sing along with, even the english version of it is great too.
8. [U]Tenjou Tenge[/U]- Bomb a Head
I loved the upbeat opening of this anime, even though I didn't finish watching it, I enjoyed it thoroughly and the song was great and went well with the intro.
9.[U] Fullmetal Alchemist[/U]- Rewrite
I had a tough time choosing between Ready Steady Go, and Rewrite, but in the end I chose the 4th intro to FMA. I love all the action in the last bits of it, and how it picks up in the beginning.
10.[U] Samurai Champloo[/U]- Battlecry
I love the song, it reminds me of some sort of Hip hop kind of theme, with a japanese mix in it. Goes well with the anime itself, since it revolves around samurai and has a upbeat style to it.

[Rachmaninoff]

Not a lot really, for the simple reason I haven't watched a lot of anime. XP Still out of what I have seen I like the opening song to [URL="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ma0jp4uP-6M"][U]Detective Conan[/U][/URL], it's got a nice combination of fast paced music that really fits the type of series it is. I don't care for the vocals though, at least not for the English version.

I also like the opening to [URL="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ViEH57xQu1c"][U]Lucky Star[/U][/URL] It's almost ditsy and yet it fits the series so well and is fun to listen to. Fair warning... it's a bit addicting.

I also like the opening to [URL="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OfBDqmAeJNo"][U]Lovely Complex[/U][/URL] The song for the second season is fun too, but I didn't see it over at youtube so I don't have a link for it. XP It's more of a rock song and really fits how the series has changed at that point.

Now without a doubt, so far my favorite opening is from [URL="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBC65-1GjAU"][U]DNAngel[/U][/URL] I like the music to this series enough that I ended up getting all of the soundtracks to it. I love the piano aspect to it as well as the fact that the singer has a nice voice.

Favorite threads, asking what people's favorite whatever is, are only permitted if reasons are given for people's choices. Like what Rachmaninoff just did in his post, he gave reasons as to why he liked the songs. Simply listing songs without giving any reason as to why you like them is spam.

Now since Rachmaninoff pretty much saved your thread by posting with a good example I'm going to leave this open. But from now on, please put more effort into your posts and to the rest of you who respond, remember give reasons! Thanks!

Now as for the topic, Rach already listed many of the opening songs that I like however I will expand on the [URL="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=338v9EQnj0Q"][U]Lovely Complex[/U][/URL] one since even though the subtitles are in spanish it's still the original track for the second season. I like the fun feel to this song and though I like the first one, I like the faster paced rock feel to this one better than the one to the first season. [/FONT][/COLOR]

Some of the best OPs out there are instrumental. [b]Baccano[/b] and [b]Gad Guard[/b] have awesome jazzy songs & snappy animation; I have yet to get tired of watching either of them (the shows themselves are a whole different matter, haha). [b]Gungrave[/b] is a good example of an OP that's more than the sum of its parts; neither the piece ("Family") nor the visuals are enormously arresting on their own, but they work great together.

My favorite animated OPs are actually for eroge. Makoto Shinkai (Voices of a Distant Star, 5cm Per Second) has directed several OPs for games by minori, including Wind - a breath of heart (which got two OPs!), Bittersweet Fools, Haru no Ashioto, and ef - the first tale. They're just as gorgeous as his movies.

[Rachmaninoff]

I completely forgot the Harlock Saga opening. Definitely one of my favorites since it?s based off the opera ?Der Ring des Nibelungen? and it uses the music by Richard Wagner. The Harlock Saga is one of the only anime shows I?ve watched that I was hooked before the show even began, just by listening to the opening music. I also love how it was performed by the Moscow International Symphonic Orchestra so it actually sounds good. And surprisingly, for an older styled anime, the actual show was pretty good as well. Heh. The English opening to this though is just horrid beyond belief since the show is an adaptation of the opera Der Ring des Nibelugen so changing the music just ruins it in my opinion. XP

[COLOR="Red"][FONT="Garamond"]Hmm...one of my all time favorite intros without a doubt is [B]RahXephon[/B], the introduction song [B]Hemisphere[/B] by Maaya Sakamoto is just amazing in it. The vocals and tone on it remind me of a rising hero, and then works its way into a battle scene. The video in the intro as well I thought was very well formed and very action packed. ^^ Stayed quiet with the song, and when it hit the higher parts it jumped up as well. (I actually used to play this while I ran Upper Blackrock Spire in World of Warcraft..just the song mind you. >.>)

Another of my favorites, not big into the anime itself but im hooked on the intro song, is from [B]Gravitation[/B]. The video's real good with it and detailed, but towards the end it seemed a little repetitive but I still loved it. The song itself seems constantly action paced and I love listening to this when I'm driving down the interstate or through a city bypass. This is easily my second favorite intro.[/FONT][/COLOR]

Shingetsutan Tsukihime has the best opener I've heard in a very long time, title is The Sacred Moon. Sounds like a choir w/ a piano thrown in...very pleasing to the ears.

Wow, blast from the past.

Lately I've been listening to the [b]Mononoke[/b] OST. It's short, but every single track is ravishing. This surprised me a bit, because I'd gotten the impression that it was the kind of anime whose music would work best in the context of the series itself. I was delighted to learn otherwise.

I liked the opening theme for FMA: Conqueror of Shambala, Link by L'arc En Ciel. It was catchy and Hyde's voice only made it better.

The opening for the classic anime DNA2 was nice as well. It's called Blurry Eyes, and it's also written and performed by L'arc En Ciel. Unlike Link, however, this song was made around the 1990s, when L'arc En Ciel was a new band. Even though it's old, it's still a catchy little tune enhanced by Hyde's amazing singing abilities.

There are lots of other intros I could rattle off, but to spare my freezing fingers, I think I'll pass. It's under thirty degrees right now, here in Daly City, California.

The opening theme to NieA_7 is awesome. It's sung by this old raspy voice and just sounds great and emotional. I also like the opening to This Ugly Yet Beautiful World, which is from the same person who did Cruel Angel Thesis of Neon Genesis Evangelion fame. It's kind of like that song, but with extra orchestra.[/COLOR]

I find this song nicely catchy?it starts with a strong beat right from the start and makes me want to watch the whole OP, but doesn't get too tiring after seeing it episode after episode. It also doesn't hurt that the series is my second favorite from CLAMP, after Cardcaptor Sakura?I've always wondered why I never hear anything about it.

Like the rest of the series, the OP is just weird. Again, very eye-catching start to its animation with the girls getting tossed in the air and Tomo getting crushed mid-air by the logo. The song is a bit mesmerizing in a way and the cut-out style of the animation is nice.

Unlike most of my picks, this one has as much to do with the animation as the song. The whole thing is just so incredibly cute and innocent and fits the series perfectly. I'd be very hard pressed to think of anything in anime cuter than Sakura on her roller blades, and if I managed it it would probably be Sakura in some other outfit. Seriously, this series makes me giggle in delight like a schoolgirl.

I barely remember anything from the animation for this one but the song's stuck with me ever since I heard it. It's one of those that I thought was okay at first but then grew on me. By the time I finished the series I was humming it all the time and I still do occasionally.

This one's simply a badass instrumental rock track set to a stylish and equally awesome animation. Since it was made specifically as the anime's OP song there is no longer version but I still had it playing on loop all night when I first got an mp3 of it.

This is my favorite anime OP theme out of everything I've seen/heard yet. I know about 3/4 of the words to this one, and very nearly all of the words to the shortened TV version, just from listening to it so much?and I don't even know what most of them mean without looking at the translation! I've always liked Megumi Hayashibara, both for her anime roles as a seiyuu and her music. Slayers (one of my favorite animes), especially the second season, combines the best of both worlds with her playing the main character Lina and singing the OPs.
