SunfallE
I guess I'm just used to going to a great school, then.
Or just simply lucky to have teachers who do enjoy knowing their students more. I've had both, teachers who though good at their job, had no desire or interest to know you more as well as ones who did. And to be fair, I wasn't interested in knowing most of them either. Also, all this talk from people about watching behavior being a clue that teachers should be picking up on just isn't true or even accurate. Or even very realistic to expect. There's nothing wrong with wanting teachers who will be more involved, but it's silly to expect or even demand it of them. Especially since I've had plenty of times where other than to get my homework and leave I never said a word. So knowing if they are quiet or not is really useless since that's no indication of how a student is going to behave. If we really want that kind of attention to be given to students, then we need to step up and make sure there are more teachers around, pay them better as well as offering training on what to look for when it comes to troublesome behavior. Instead of blindly expecting it and attempting to pin blame when they don't guess someone's intent correctly. Personally, I think violence isn't necessarily getting worse. What's getting worse is all the silly media dramatizing it left and right. As well as the constant attempts to pin the blame elsewhere. Anyway, There's always been some form of violence going on, and about the only thing I see different is that perhaps the type of violence has shifted. Or the undeniable fact that since our population keeps growing it appears that there is more violence when it's entirely possible that looking at the hard numbers, the percentage of actual violence could be the same or less. It may look like more but if we are having an issue of say five percent of the students getting into fights. Naturally it's going to look like an increase if in the past five years you've gone from say five hundred students to just over a thousand.
