Every few hundred thousand years, genetic evolution takes a dramatic leap forward, and the creatures that emerge hold the genetic code to take their species higher up the evolutionary ladder. Many believe that these changes begin as genetic mutations, then gradually emerge as a new species altogether. Some believe it is the work of God, continually striving to keep his creation from withering. Ultimately, evolution is all a matter of survival.

Everybody is aware that the world is changing. Global warming is melting the icecaps away slowly, causing sea levels to rise, and the average temperature of the planet is ever increasing. Governments threaten nuclear war, willing to wipe out entire countries simply to stop them doing it first. Racism is on the increase, people being discriminated against for the colour of their skin more and more frequently. Terror attacks continue to shake the world.

But there is a change happening before our very eyes which we pay no attention to. A change in ourselves. Evolution is a lengthy process, taking millennia to happen, but every so often, a huge leap forward is made by the human race. When the Neanderthals were replaced and wiped out by homo sapiens, this was the work of evolution. Now a similar change is occurring.

Evolution has begun to take it's course. There are people wandering this planet, right now, who are more than human - they are special, they are different. They are superhuman.

The first documented case of this evolutionary process was a man known as "Drazen" - a Russian with the power to generate fire from his own body. Drazen was known by the experts who monitored him as "Patient Zero," until he escaped and destroyed half the government medical facility he was being housed in.

Then these bizarre gifts began to spring up everywhere - children with the ability to fly, women who could make things move with their minds, men who could regrow any severed limb, and heal any wound inflicted upon him. Some of these people, however, grew dangerous, their gifts destructive, unstable, and it was up to the few to help these people to save the many.

So the Genesis Corporation was created, to track down those who could not yet control their gifts, and help them to reign in their power so they were no longer a danger to society. Funded by a number of anonymous donors, and headed by a man known only as "Mr Matthews," the Genesis Corporation employ those who have managed to gain control over their abilities, and use their unique qualities to further their cause.

But there is a storm brewing, and only those with the power and the forethought to do something about it can stop it, for the sake of human and superhuman alike.

Welcome to the Genesis Corporation. In this RP you will be playing a super-powered human being, either working for the Genesis Corporation, finding and helping others like themselves, or simply trying to live life as a normal person, attempting to come to grips with their own unique ability.

There will be an underlying plot, which I will be revealing in the first post, but other than hat characters will be basically free to do as they please (within reason). I won't be setting objectives or telling anyone what to do, just giving them guidance if they want me to. The cast is going to be fairly small, perhaps six or seven dedicated RPers who are willing to take this as far as it can go.

So, without further ado, here is the sign-up:

Also, members of the Corporation are likely to have a much greater degree of control over their abilities than normal people - the Corporation trains them up, so please bear this in mind.

As you can see, I haven't added a "Bio" section to the sign-up, my intention being that the background of your characters will be revealed throughout the main story.

Occupation: Medical Officer in the Genesis Corporation Medical Facility.

Physical Description: 6'2'' Caucasian male. he has brown eyes and short spiky brown hair on the top of his head, shaved sides and back of head. Has a type of bodybuilder body, likes to wear his yellow long sleeve hoodie with a blank tank-top underneath. Along with his long black sweat pants and his yellow and black running shoes. He also wears a blue bandanna on both his wrist and along his forearms when he has his hoodie off.

Personality: Though Chance has been one to lose his temper at times when he drinks or gets mad, he's really mellow at heart. Though he's had a difficult lifestyle he tends to be nice until his patience runs out, he wishes to be the opposite of his father in every way possible.

Powers: Control over the weather. This ranges from summoning storms (hail, thunder, tornado), to manipulating the skies (sunlight to darkness). Thanks to the training he received from the Genesis Corporation Chance has even extended his powers to summon lighting on demand. He cannot use the winds to lift him in the air, so flight is impossible for Chance.

Bio: Chance grew up with an abusive father after his mother died, during the years Chance was growing up his father would beat him and mentally abuse his child. For some reason though Chance never let that stop him from gaining high marks in school and living a normal life outside of his home life. One day after chacne returned from school his father was in a drunken rage and attacked his son, Chance was pinned down on the ground and thought he wouldn't make it. Suddenly the sky turned black as night and lightning struck the air, one strand of light flashed inside the house hitting Chance's father and killing him on the stop. Chance woke up in the hospital, only to be surrounded by machines and the lonely darkness of his room.

During his healing someone came to visit Chance, saying he knew what gifts he had and the extreme powers they could do. Chance's only option was to choose whether or not to use them wisely, the man offered chance a home and training. Chance agreed and spent his years after graduating high school training his body and mind, and powers over the weather. Chance earned the rank of the ream medical officer for his unit, whenever they would go out finding new super powered humans he would go along just in case.

Chance stays in the city away from his work, at night he drinks alone trying to bury the memories of his past life. He can hold back so much emotion from others trying not to break down, so he keeps his past to himself and doesn't talk about it with his team members. Every night he drinks, the forecast calls for heavy rain and lots of thunder.

Jake is a large character, standing at 6"3 with a strong build and often standing up straight to make the most of his height. He has three piercings; two earrings on his left ear and a metal spike through the middle of his lip and makes a point of getting more. Jake is full of tattoos, even though they are hard to spot except the one on his arm. His hair is jet black, shaved shorter at the sides and he wears a black goatee, rarely fond of stupendous amounts of facial hair. Jake can normally be found dressing casually in black or dark clothing, though he has been known to dress in white (his clothing is limited to be colourless - black, greys or whites are his favourites). The colour of Jake's eyes are a mystery to most people as many who see him without his sunglasses on are too caught up in their own nightmare to remember them at all.

[B]Personality:[/B] Jake is considered an intelligent, unnerving man. He's sarcastic most of the time, blunt when he wants to be and immediately shuns anyone who [i]thinks[/i] they're smarter than him, but actually isn't. Jake is controlling to those he sees as less-intelligent or weaker, intimidating them as much as he can, though he works extremely well with people on his level and leaves those who are clearly beyond his ability alone. He is an easy man to trust, though that trust is often misplaced. Jake is a good pretender, liar, fake, making a point of trying not too trust anyone else - despite all this, when Jake feels it's necessary, he'll tell the truth. Often people can never see what's real or not.

[B]Occupation:[/B] Genesis Operative [Perhaps not the most model operative of them all]

[B]Power:[/B] His powers are considered a form of telekinesis but also show other techniques and downfalls. Mainly, Jake can get inside your head, creating hallucinations, unnerving dreams and senses of discomfort and darkness. He also has a keen sense, feeling something negative will happen before it does (though rarely positive). Jake's powers seem to revolve around manipulating people's minds, thoughts, emotions and memories, giving himself an eerie demeanor to intimidate people and make others feel unnerved and unsure of him if he wants to. The downside, however, is that Jake can only cause hallucinations and even more powerful forms of his ability while looking at his enemy - the closer, the more dangerous he is (the most dangerous hallucinations and mind techniques being when Jake looks into their eyes - hence, the sunglasses, which he only takes off to use his powers).

Hmm, looks like fun, and I happen to have had a character design running through my head lately (a random one even).


Name: Serenity “Noir” Hart (Codenamed: Black Winged Angel)

Age: 19

Gender: Female

Physical Description: [See Attachment in addition to description]
5’8” tall with a deceptively slender build (she is stronger than she looks). Has the same red hair and piercing blue eyes as depicted in the attachment. Her usual attire consists of dresses, normally of a Gothic Lolita fashion, in combinations of red/black or blue/black. On each of her dresses the left arm is covered in a black, web-like lace from the shoulder to the wrist, and the right arm is left uncovered. She carries the mask (seen in attachment) with her all the time, though it is often tied to her face when she is out performing her job. (Note: Mask does not have the handle on it. Instead is has a leather strap so that it may be worn normally.) Around her neck she wears a leather choker with a small pendant containing a thumbnail sized piece of amethyst set in iron.

Personality: Serenity is a quite person, often mistaken for a loner at first, but has a very upbeat attitude when people get to know her. She rarely lets anyone get to her enough to get on her bad side, but those who do she will respond to coldly (usually with an icy stare). While performing her work in the field she is calm and collected, working hard to keep distractions at bay. She does have one small weakness, crystal jewelry. Whenever she sees a necklace or bracelet she likes she tries anything within legal bounds to obtain it, usually attempting to negotiate her superiors to “loan” her some money.

Occupation: Search and recovery. Serenity works to find and retrieve others identified to have powers, and bring them back safely. (In retrospect, I should mention this is done for Genesis Corp. Forgot that part)

Power: Serenity has the ability to phase herself out of normal layers of reality by adjusting the frequency her atomic structure resonates at. In essence she drops into another dimension just below the normal one. While in this state she can sense everything normally, but cannot directly affect it (i.e. make a loud yell, move objects, etc.). As a result she can walk through objects, but the concentration needed to do so limits this movement to a few feet through low density objects (wooden doors/walls), and makes it impossible for high density objects (such as lead walls) This ability also gives her the codename, as its effects take on the look of black wings that spread to enshroud her in shadows before fading away. Currently it is unknown what side-effects prolonged phasing may have.

His shaggy blonde hair and his narrow figure both help give him the overall appearance of being somewhat dishelved at all times, though in actuality he puts much time and effort into his appearance. [b]Personality:[/b] Adrian is a typically sarcastic and self-involved person though he always shows a sense of altruism to other 'special' people that he meets. He could be called narcissistic as he tends to look down upon normal people and pride himself (and his kin) on being the first of a new species. However, he does often compare himself and others like him to comic book superheroes and is very optimistic about his kind (though he does lament not having telekinesis in place of his own ability). In the past, he has shown himself to be highly protective of his kind and become very angry, if not violent, when they are used, abused, or mistreated (even when it comes into conflict with the Genesis Corporation).

[b]Occupation:[/b] Genesis Operative

[b]Powers:[/b] Adrian is capable of moving at blinding speed, and is even capable of breaking 200 miles per hour on a level, straight surface (though doing something such as that would be exceedingly exhausting). This increased movement extends to the all other aspects of his movements and not just the ability to run (he can write and do other such activities with his hands at ridiculous speed as well). His ability has also made him into a respectable martial artist (though hardly formidable), something he has had some minimal training for in the Genesis Organization. In addition, Adrian's reaction time as also increased alongside his movement which aids in such activities (also makes him a mean soccer player).

When faced with situations or troubles she will lock up sometimes and not talk at all. She is sometimes over confident in her work and it seems to backfire on her causing certain troubles with her products.[/SIZE]

For example when she was a little younger something happend and she was in such a devastated state she lost all control that she did have and her home was engulfed with ivy and rose bushes over the course of three days. Why thish append though she wont speak of. She has made this into a living. Yes she has created some very special fertalizers and plants on her own but she adds just a little simple touch to any plant someone wants and it is radiant in color and nice in size. She can even bring a fully dead plant back into bright life. She can only do this with small to moderate sized plants however. She has failed and ended up very sick the next day after trying it on a tree in her back yard. She just cant control it on large objects. She can also grow thick roots through the toughest surfaces like cement and wood. She never sees a use for that particular ability so never uses it.[/SIZE]

Physical Description: Leresa is a rather tall woman, well over six feet in height, with blue eyes and black hair. She's rather muscular, but not in a way that detracts from her looks. She is very good-looking, despite a certain... oddness. Something about her just seems off, though nobody has yet been able to identify what it is. It's not her skin, which is unusually pale, but not enough so to look unnatural. This is only accented by the dark clothing she tends to wear.

Personality: In a word, bizzare. Laresa is constantly saying things that make people go 'huh?'. She seems to see the world in a different way than most people, which leads to no end of confusion for others. At times, she seems totally inconsistant, appearing to contradict herself, but she sees things differently enough that she does not see the contradictions that others see. Of course, some things that seem consistant to others, she sees as contradictory. She can seem cold at times, but again, this is because of the different way she sees things.

Occupation: Genisis Operative

Power: Laresa is able to manipulate the energies of both light and darkness, which are in fact not opposing forces. They're opposites, yes, but essential opposites, and not conflicting energies. Lersea is able to manipulate both energies with considerable skill. It's possibly this unification of opposites that gives Laresa her unique worldview. The abilities she has with light and darkness are suprisingly similar to each other. Essentially, she can do the same things with either type of energy, though the methods employed may differ.

[B]Power:[/B] Felix has the ability to manipulate and absorb sound waves. He can overwhelm listeners with deafening noise, stun them with tight-focus low-frequency sonic blasts (effective even against shielded ears by penetrating the skull via bone conduction), plunge them into a hypnotic trance, disorient them, nauseate them, or simply render them unconscious. He can generate sonic blasts which strike with tremendous concussive force, liquefying or outright disintegrating targets at his highest levels of power. He was placed into a Covert Specialist unit because he can make himself completely silent by absorbing the sound waves he generates.

His dirty blonde hair falls over his forehead and just into his eyes, but not to the extent that it impairs his vision. His eyes themselves are crystal blue. He is usually fairly clean-shaven, but every once in a while he lets his facial hair run a little wild.

He can usually be seen wearing blue jeans, a black t-shirt (often with a band's logo on the front) with a white long-sleeved t-shirt underneath, and a pair of dirty white Converse All-Star trainers on his feet. When in the field, he has a black leather jacket which he throws on over all of this.

[B]Personality: [/B]Adam has been many things in his life. He was a happy child, but as he grew up and his power began to emerge uncontrollably, he became clinically depressed, and often suicidal. However, since his discovery by the Genesis Corporation, he has been reverting to his happy state, where he is easy-going and approachable. He is also a good-natured joker, who is always up for a laugh.

Wash is five feet and six inches tall, with a wiry, healthy build. His hair and goatee used to be dark brown, but both are streaked through with white. He's got more hair on his face than he does on his head now, as well - he's been balding for the last twenty years, though he's still got some.

His eyes are dark brown and friendly; when he's using his ability the shape of his pupils change - slitting like a cat's if he's influencing a cat, for example - but it's barely noticeable behind his thin wire-rimmed glasses.

He usually wears flatcaps, and dresses in tribal-print button-down shirts, and white-and-blue striped shirts over blue jeans. He always wears flipflops, even in the middle of winter.
[B]Personality:[/B] Kind, friendly and honest - the kind of person one instinctively goes to for advice. He's very humble, not thinking much of the abilities he has - both superhuman and just typical human - at all. He's stubborn, not easily dissuaded or discouraged. The easiest way to describe him is "mellow".

[B]Power: [/B] Animal Empathy/Influence. He has an instinctive feel for what animals are feeling, and the ability to apply that feeling to situations. He can also influence them to act in different ways, but he can't [I]control[/I] them to act that way.

He also keeps a packet of cigarettes in his shirt pocket, though he has never been seen to smoke, and a hip flask of whiskey.

[b]Personality:[/b] Quiet but not aloof, Gabriel spends the majority of his time out in the field recruiting new members for Genesis Corporation, returning to base only when necessary, such as for meetings or paper-work. Unlike many Genesis operatives, Gabriel has a tendency to keep his work and private lives strictly separated, though he admits that his work life generally does take precedence over his free time.

Possibly immortal, Gabriel is capable of quickly recovering from wounds which would certainly kill another person. Already documented in his time with the Genesis Corporation, he has survived three independent cases of close-range gunshot wounds, a case of being impaled through the chest with a hunting knife, and a case of being thrown from a fourteen story building and impacting into the sidewalk below. The latter resulting in dozens of broken bones, six crushed vertebrae and massive internal bleeding. Within twelve hours, Gabriel showed no signs of his injuries.

Whether based in fact or fiction, the operative has a genuine fear of having his head separated from his body believing that this would be the only way to truly kill him. Gabriel has also shown no capacity for being able to heal others with his regenerative powers. A possible side-effect of his healing abilities have left Gabriel capable of resisting psychic invasion of his mind, though the greater the intended invasion, the greater the mental exertion required for him to repel it. [B]Physical Description[/B]: Edel is rather tall, standing at 6’1“, and quite lanky, but his arms are solidly toned and appear capable of packing quite a punch. His eyes are a brilliant, icy blue, and radiate through his thin, black, rectangular glasses. His black hair pikes lazily over his right eye, but uniformly forms into a straight, pointed bang that falls over his left eye. Ib back, his hair falls just below his shoulder blades. He’s always well kept and clean, save for the naturally disorderly formation of his hair. His skin is very lightly tanned, as, though he isn’t keen on spending much time in the sun, he often does when spending time casually with his friends.

He’s one for consistency, so his normal, every-day attire is essentially the same: a close fitting, black, v-neck sweater over a white collared button up t-shirt, with the cuffs folded back and buttoned over the sweater. His pants are long black dickies that fall over his black and white vans. Accessory wise, he always wears a ring with the roman numerals I to XII on his right middle finger, a sleek watch on his right wrist, and two piercing on his left ear: one of a silver peace symbol, and one of a silver cross.

[B]Personality[/B]: Edel’s the epitome of a typical nice guy: jovial, polite, caring, and cheery. He's rarely ever seen without a smile on his face or a positive demeanor about him. He's a regular gentleman, known for opening and holding doors, and speaking respectfully to anyone whom he converses with. His naturally friendly demeanor has earned him a place in the hearts of everyone close to him- that, his eyes, and his voice, with it's slight German accent, also give him an air of trustworthiness; his voice carries such a note in it that it seems impossible that he could tell a lie, and his crystal eyes shine with honesty.

He’s a very intelligent young man as well, but the most interesting aspect of his character is his secrecy; he doesn’t talk about himself or his family often, never of his own forward resolve, at least. It’s known that he lives alone, apparently with a pet of some sort; but nobody knows anymore than that. Even his best of friends have not been to his place before, nor the girl of his interest. He’s never offered, and they don’t feel much like pushing for it. It's suspected that this lack of moderate personal connectedness with others and the extreme secrecy might mean a completely different side to Edel that no one has happened upon... And one so well-hidden might me better left uncovered.

[B]Occupation[/B]: College Student [History Major]; Waiter at a restaurant

[B]Power[/B]: Edel can manipulate the element of ice. He usually uses this ability for simple, menial purposes, like creating crystalline figures for friends, or that he sells. However, his ability range is far greater that that: he can dramatically lower the temperature of his surroundings, create ice projectiles, disable limbs by freezing or numbing them, and create a hard, glacial outer coating on any part of his body that he focuses upon. These abilities can be utilized through his hands or through his breath. Also, the ice he creates can range from being extremely brittle- for the purpose of setting traps and such- to virtually indestructible, wherein it can only be destroyed or retracted by his own means, so an enemy can be left permanently disabled if he so wished it. He would never go that far with his abilities, though...At least, circumstances have never arisen when he would need to utilize that extent of his ability.[/SIZE]

Acacia is olive toned, with large sparkling green eyes and dark brown nearly black hair, that sits around her collarbone and straight across bangs. She has high cheekbones and classic features. Very meticulous about how she looks, she is always very polished and refined, never leaving the house without atleast a little bit of mascara on. Near sighted, she always needs her glasses or contacts.

Her regular attire is anything trendy and a step above casual. Jeans are always matched with a slightly dressy top, and she has tons of skirts and cocktail dresses on hand, as well as high heels and flats for every occasion.

[B]Personality:[/B] Friendly, but formal and professional. She is honest, and can be very blunt without meaning to be. She tends very brutal when dealing with some work situations, as she hates looking bad or doing a poor job. She finds it difficult to make friends, so the friends she does have are very important to her and she is extremely loyal. Acacia is an intellectual, and she loves to read and retain knowledge and takes things very literally. She is an introvert, and does not open up easily.

[B]Power:[/B] Acacia has the power to manipulate light. She can cause light to amplify, or she can take it away from a room. In the case of being outdoors, Acacia's power creates small black holes where the enemies eyes were, so no light can reflect. In either brightening or eliminating light, her power causes temporary blindness, or can be used as cover for escape. It is also possible for her to bend the light around herself as well as others, rendering her a sort of "invisible". She has fine tuned her power to the point where she can multitask and still focus it very effectively, though in order for it to work she has to keep atleast a small part of her brain concentrating on the target.

A childhood filled with ballet classes gave her a graceful build and delicate features, but she is slightly stronger than she looks. Her hair is a little longer than shoulder-length, and hangs down in loose brown waves with lighter natural highlights. Her eyes are a warm honey-brown color with flecks of green, one of the only tells of her German heritage.

She is slightly underweight, and wears looser clothing to disguise the fact. Usually Dana is very casual in her dress, wearing comfortable and loose-fitting jeans and layering her shirts. She favors neutral color tones such as cool gray, or darker jewel tones to make her skin look warmer. For work in the art gallery she’ll wear dresses or skirts that are loose and flowing, while at the club she changes into form-fitting black.

[b]Personality:[/b] Likeable but not memorable, Dana is unobtrusive and outwardly unexceptional. Having been raised in a solitary home environment, Dana definitely knows how to keep to herself. She is highly introverted about personal life, although in the workplace she is perfectly cordial. She maintains few to no relationships, and doesn’t keep regular company with anyone. Dana isn’t sentimental and doesn’t put value in emotion; she likes things organized and in place, and always tries to keep some measure of control over her situation. In artwork and design she is extremely talented, and her art is the only area of her life that she allows her emotions to really influence her. As an artist she notices even the slightest changes in a person's body or expression, and thus has a keen sense for reading people. More often than not she is fine being a bystander, but the one thing that irks her is when other authorities try to take control of her situation.

[b]Occupation:[/b] Part-time college student taking classes in architecture and design. A couple days a week she works at an art gallery; and nights are spent moonlighting at a club as a hostess.

[b]Power:[/b] Dana has the ability to bring images into reality. That is, if there is a picture of an object, Dana is capable of bringing that illustration to real life and in real form. The object will also be capable of function if it is some sort of machinery or whatnot. The larger the object (in real life) the more difficult it is to bring it out of the paper; but the more detailed the image the easier it is to bring into real life. She can only bring inanimate forms into reality, and she is also able to enlarge or shrink the object as she brings it out of the illustration. She can also add or take away functionality of the object. For example, if there was a picture of a car in a magazine, Dana is able to bring that into reality. Depending on what she needs, it could be a real car that she is able to drive, or it could be a tiny model car as well. A small model car would definitely be easier – she would have to expend much more energy to bring in a complete and functioning vehicle. As long as the image is on the paper, despite how elementary it is, Dana is able to bring it into reality.

She is aware of her power and is fairly in control of it, although she is uncomfortable with it. For now she has to be in contact with the image she is focusing on bringing out, so usually she's just careful not to let her fingers rest too long on any particular picture. She has yet to bring out anything larger than a desk, and doesn't particularly want to try.[/FONT][/COLOR]
