So let us know why you think the site is going to die?give good solid reasons! Don?t hold back, this isn?t about telling people to quit whining. This is about you and putting into words all your thoughts about why you think OtakuBoards is dying. You?re also welcome to add your thoughts about what should be done to fix it, too.

Oh that's easy. Everyone knows that it's Gavin who's killing OB! :blulaugh: Along with the looking through rose colored glasses towards the past instead of the future and the incessant whining about the rules, the inside jokes and the zero tolerance towards newbies. The list goes on and on.

In the end, I say we just clobber Gavin, that'll fix things for sure! lol
internets r srs biznis
It took me a moment to even realize what in the world that said! lol And this thread? What a silly joke. ;) However, in the spirit of that joke I'll answer it a little seriously, with things that I've noticed in the time I've been a member here. Things that in my opinion, on some level, do drive others away and potentially kill the Boards so to speak. I'll list them.

A negative attitude towards imperfect grammar and spelling, even just simple mistakes.

A negative attitude towards repeat threads even though they aren't a repeat for the newer members, and failing to realize that even your own views may have changed since the last thread.

Idolizing the past and going on as if it's better, whether it's true or not.

Harsh criticism towards other members and a lack of tact in one's responses.

Whining about problems (oh the irony) instead of finding solutions.

Expecting to be entertained instead of doing so yourself.

Complaining because the rules are too strict and then turning around and complaining that they aren't strict enough. As if that would somehow make things better.

Behaving as if being here longer somehow makes you better than other members.
As you can see... I could continue here, but I think that gets the point across. If you see something as negative and fail to see anything positive at all... then really you have no one to blame but yourself. Even most of the responses here have been a whine towards the thread as if it is lame. lol I think only Crystia so far has even gotten into the spirit of this, only reinforcing my impression that people really have been whining like babies around here lately.

In the thread about A Change If You Will... Rach put it best really:
In other words stop looking for all the negative stuff since I can guarantee you that if that's what your looking for, you'll always find it. Try looking for the fun stuff or creating it yourself. Complaining is easy, putting in effort, well is just that, something that requires more than simply complaining.
It's true really, if you expect things to be bad and you look for it you'll always find it. So my solution? Come in here, whine like a big baby, and get over it. Then go start a thread, write a story, join an rpg, post in a topic you find interesting. Basically, do something creative and GET INVOLVED! :catgirl:

And in the end if I've gotten this wrong, I think everyone here already knows that most if not all Internet jokes go right over my head. ;)

I say it's Charles's fault that members are being driven away and that OtakuBoards is dying! He's been to busy trying to run rpgs and failing to post those funny pictures he does. He even missed out on the chance to put something totally silly in this thread and went uber serious instead. Oh how the great Charles has fallen! :p

If he'd get back into action, threatening to ban 2007DigitalBoy if there aren't any new Otakupedia articles and using some of those legendary picture posts that he does... OtakuBoards just might be saved from oblivion! :o

I didn't even know this site existed untill a friend gave me the link. Perhaps those of us who are on other forums should add usebars to our profile so that others learn that this forum is here and active.

Also having been actively foruming on anime and gaming forums for two years now I think the recent falloff is perfectly normal. People are busy again, school being in session and all. Around christmastime there will be a surge of activity from the holidays, and then activity will be at an all-time low in late winter and early spring. Late spring and towards summer though it will come back strong.

I really don't think you guys are doing too bad maintaining this forum.
Threads like these are the cancer that is killing OB.
I'm not disagreeing. :x

But I'll use the change to say: What happened to our pretty anime characters in the sitebanner? It was thé attraction that attracted all the members! :o I want my random manga/anime portraits!

Why would OB be dying? Just read this: TheDailyOtaku All the would be newbies have gotten wind of what's up and have abandoned the boards to save their own lives!

Oh and posts like these?
Threads like these are the cancer that is killing OB.

I agree.

Fail.
Only confirm what TheDailyOtaku has gotten wind of. The oldies are planning on doing all of us 'newbies' in! :o Why else would the boards be dying? They're all too busy planning our demise to post, rpg or be involved in the daily business of the boards.

And, all these schemes by the oldes to eliminate the noobs are only going to result in the death of OB, because the oldies won't be around forever but not having new people to maintain the levels of activity and bring in new ideas and discussions the community will stagnate and die a most painful death.

I've seen it happen far too many times now, smaller forums are a lot more prone to it.

Yay, whining! My second favorite activity after sex! ;D

I have to make a comment about this:

This list is totally true, but ask almost anyone and they deny they have ever said things that even imply the above.

I can admit that I have done things from that list in the past, but realizing the habit is the key to changing it, right? ;D

Anyway, I want to whine about the fact that I've heard claims that some people find me intimidating. Me?! Scary? I mean, just look at me!

So if someone really is scared of me, please stop that or else... >;P
People who wouldn't know a joke if it slapped them upside the head are killing OB imo. Someone needs to make a "How to appreciate internet humor" thread.
Right, but then again, none of my jokes are funny.

Damn mods. Got to ruin a perfecly good bad joke. What the hell is wrong with you people?! :P

One of the biggest problems OB has is simply that Charles is not an administrator. I mean come on guys, where's your sense of righteousness? This man will lead us into the new generation with an iron fist and a caring heart.

Another thing, where's the lesbian porn forum? I know that Beth is personally bothered that this forum does not exist because she always has to look elsewhere for her fix, but I for one share her pain. I am not amused by this lack of care on the current admin's part.
