Great fortune awaits those worthy of them."

Introduction

The Castle of 20 Levels is a mysterious building that seems to appear in the Mountains of Nordark once every 20 years. It sits there for a year and then just vanishes. Many different people usually attempt to enter, enthralled by the idea of great fortune. However, nobody has ever made it out of the castle once they enter.

Usually the Castle lets anyone through its doors. But this time the castle has created a large barrier around the entire Nordark Mountains keeping everyone out. Everyone, save for a select group of people.

How to Play

Our story begins with a small group of folk from near and far. One of these characters is you. You must enter the castle and try to make it through the 20 different levels the castle will throw at you, sometimes solo, sometimes as a team. It is you the players vs the castle.

Some levels will challenge your wisdom, do you have the resources to outsmart the castle? Other levels will call upon your ability to write and force you to role play yourself out of certain situations. Every level will be completely different from the one before it. All of this will take place in the Square and Underground threads.

You can also die in the Castle. If you fail a level, the Castle will take you as another one of its victims and you will go to the Dungeon. The Dungeon has 3 extremely difficult levels for you to try at. If you pass at least 2/3 levels you will be put back in the game with the other players still alive. If you fail at least 2 of the levels, you will be trapped forever. This will take place through Private Messages.

Extra Information

I will explain a lot more as the challenges go on. Basically you will be going through 20 different tests I have thought up and you, along with the rest of the group, are trying to beat every single one to make it out of the castle alive with the reward. You will post in-character in the Square thread and out of character in the Underground thread.

This isn't just a straightforward challenge-after-challenge type RP, though. There will be different types of "cards" that you will pick up along the way. Expect to see stuff like "Skip a Level!", "Axe of Wisdom", and "Sabotage Level".

Sign-ups

I'll probably be accepting most of the sign-ups I get so don't strain yourself too much when writing your sign-up.

Name: Your characters name.
Age: Between 20 and 60.
Gender: M/F
Appearance: Preferably a picture. A description is fine, though.
Occupation: Think fantasy/medieval here. Blacksmith? Engineer? Merchant?

Why did the Castle choose you? The castle picked people who have always longed to attempt The Castle of 20 Levels. Why does your character want to try? Are they dying and want to do something big before they go? Is your character really cocky and thinks they could pull it off? Be creative.

Whoa, where does this sudden burst of ingenuity come from? Why didn't you make things like this when you were an Event Master?

Here's my character:

Name: Rhuin "Raven" Llheannan
Age: 45 years
Gender: Male
Occupation: Druid
Appearance:

(You can ignore the elven ears if you wish.)
The reason why the Castle chose him: Raven is a nature-loving man, and he rather spends his time with animals than humans. Despite being musclebound and harsh-looking, he has a kind and caring heart. But he is saddened by the greed of his kin, for humans cut down and burn forests and meadows to make way to their houses, fields and roads. They hunt beasts and birds with unfair measures, slaying even the bearing mothers and their younglings. Raven sees that the humankind has lost it's respect towards the nature that gave birth to them.

Then he hears of an enchanted castle in Nordark. The castle is said to make the wishes of anyone who passes it's trials come true. Raven sees his chance to salvage the nature and it's inhabitants, and sets out towards the castle to enter the trials waiting inside.

Wewt! This looks fun. :3 Hope this is something like what you had in mind~
Name: Baeli [?bay-lee?] Wurr (originally Mennington)
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Appearance: Baeli
Occupation: Fisher(wo)man

Why did the Castle choose you? Baeli moved in with and eventually married her childhood friend and love, Jak Wurr, at the tender age of eighteen. He wasn't a very rich man, but she was happy to join him fishing for the various creatures that inhabited the lake near their home. However, shortly after their fourth wedding anniversary, Jak was killed by an angry Merman he had accidentally caught in one of his nets. Since his untimely death, Baeli has gone from aloof to just plain ?out of it?, unable to pay attention for very long, and often drifting into her own thoughts and daydreams while someone is still talking to her. She still fishes, and knows how to get to the markets, with her mother-in-law stopping by every so often to check in on her. Once she heard someone mention the Castle of Twenty Levels at the market, she recalled Jak eagerly telling her stories about it when they were younger and the pair's fierce determination to enter and defeat the legendary castle which lasted through their late teens. Initially shocked at how much she had forgotten since the death of her husband, she immediately declared, once again, that she would conquer the castle, this time in the memory of Jak.

Name:
Aldian Riotwing
Age:
25
Gender:
Male
Appearance:
[Aldian] [Armor]
Contrary to the picture, Aldian's hair is jet black, and his eyes are a brilliant gold. On his right ear are three piercing- two at the top of his ear, and one on the lobe.
Occupation:
Blacksmith/ Mercenary

Why did the Castle choose you?
Aldian married at 23, to the beautiful Lucia Rosenstern. He and his wife lived with his family happy for a year after the marriage, managing a family smithing shoppe. One day, his shoppe was visited by a robed figure with light purple hair and dark purple eyes, and a most peculiar smile. In his rigt hand was a great staff with a crystal embedded into it's top. He ignored all of the materials on sale and walked directly towards Aldian, inspecting him. Suddenly, the man's smile widened, and the next thing Aldian knew, he was lieing on his back. He disregarded the event as a dream, but when he went home to rest, he was greeted by his father, laying in a pool of his own blood, with terrible news: His mother and wife lay in bed, in agonizing pain, from wounds inflicted by his brother, who had gone made and attacked the family before fleeing. After finishing his story, and with the last of his breath, he told Aldian that the cloaked man had come to their house and delivered a message. It read:

Suprise!
You and you're family have been infected with a disease
that will slowly turn you all into bloodthirsty demons!...
Or will kill you on spot! Or might progressively work towards both!
[I haven't quite worked out all the kinks to my spells]

That is... Unless you go and fetch me a treasure or two
[amongst which should be your cure]
from the Castle of 20 Levels! Good luck!

Enraged by the blatant disrepect of the perpatrator and desperate to save what was left of his family, he headed off. He traveled for months as a mercenary, searching for information about the castle. The curse had slowly began affecting him too, sending him violent berseker states, or causing him to suddenly lose all strength. He kept in touch with his family throughout his journeys, so they'd know his whereabouts, and he could ask the doctors about their condition. The doctor's seemed optimisstic, they had managaed to hold the curse at bay...but after three months there was nothing left that they could do. Aldian's father and wife...died. Aldian's mother lay close. All that would be left soon would be his bloodthirsty brother. He traveled solemnly onwards, swearing that even if his did save what was left of his family, he would take revenge on the villian who did this to him.

Name: Ery K. Nightwind (Pronounced Air-y)

Age: 20

Occupation: Knight

Why did the Castle choose you?: The calm, supportive and helpful knight known throughout his town, Ery has always been a supporter of the word Justice. He has protected the villagers and the royal family ever since he first wielded a sword and became a knight. No matter what the problem or situation, Ery'spersonality allows him to protect first before running away.

Though one day, as he was riding on the back of his white horse, a fierce wind blew along-side him, causing Ery to fall off the back of his horse. It was suddenly pitch-black, nothing seen for miles or sound heard from the distance of his ear.

"If you want to know the true status of your heart," a mysterious voice suddenly shook his attention, causing him to look around for the source.

"Follow the path of the old stone building with numerous amount of levels," the voice suddenly continued, "for there, you will find what courage your heart lacks and what strength your heart has."

After the mysterious voice finished its complicated riddle, light seeped through the silent darkness. Blinking his eyes and sitting up from the ground, Ery looked around to see any trace of the weird dream he just had. Finding nothing, his white steed nudged him with its wet noise, telling its master to look in the eastward direction.

Finally turning his head in the direction his horse was nudging him towards, Ery saw a old antique castle standing tall between the emerald-green meadow. His mouth widened a little and his eyes in a blank stare, he remembered what the voice had told him.

A truthful grin slipped through his lips, then allowing him to jump on the back of his horse and tighten his grip on the reigns. If the voice was right, then the ever-lasting question in his heard would be answered when he entered the castle of unknown wonder.

Is he really a hero everyone could look up to? Or just a fraud wanting to really be one?

OOC: Oh snap, all done. I decided to change his name and appearance because I'm the author, so I can. ;D

Well so far all the sign-ups look promising. Sandy, Omega and Kitty (but you need an appearance) are all accepted.

Once Lionheart and KW finish their sign-ups I'll see about starting this baby. Sign-ups are still open to anyone, though.

OOC: I feel so rusty from lack of RPing. Will probably have my exams/tests by the time you start this up but I'll try to be active even so ^^;;;

Name: Dayne Webber

Age: Twenty-one

Gender: Female

Appearance: Dayne
Dayne is a young woman who is approximately 5'6" tall with a lithe, athletic figure. She has large crimson eyes and bright copper hair that falls in strands around her shoulders but majority of her hairstyle is hidden beneath the bandanna she constantly wears tied around her head. Her gloves and boots are both made of high quality leather, both pairs of attire were stolen from a store she had passed. Her short, sleeveless, wide collared shirt along with the small skirt and wrap allow for freedom of movement and air flow after getting heated from a job.

Occupation: Thief

Why did the Castle choose you?
Dayne grew up not knowing who her birth parents were, being brought up under the care of Elliot Webber who was an old man who picked her up from a poor orphanage when she was 18 months old. He was a lowly peasant without much money but he was as much of a father as she knew.

When she was 10, he passed away after catching pneumonia leaving her to have to fend for herself. Too young to actually be able to get a job and earn money Dayne was forced into thieving to make her way through life, surviving each day by 'liberating' food and clothes when she wore her own out or grew out of them. As she grew up she could have gotten a job, but by then she had gotten a reputation, a group of lower thieves, and she was skilled so she didn't really see a point, plus she had learned to enjoy the act of 'treasure hunting'.

One day while Dayne was taking a rest after a long day she overheard some people talking about the Castle of 20 Levels in Nordark. After listening for about 5-10 minutes she had heard enough and was determined to conquer the castle in order to gain possession of the 'great fortune' that was promised.
