ooc: this has been plenty of time for people to catch up and post so im moving this along, interesting starwind that you mention fire because there was a fire in my plans so im taking it from here, we need to get the hell out of this village, im goin crazy.

~~~
Rain was tired, the others seemed annoyed, and Malin was ruffling through the pages of the Sistania journal. With this former queen being so vague on every detail Rain wasnt sure if all this was going to turn out well. She sighed and leaned back into her chair. The map she stared at wasnt complete, so many blank spots. She hoped this Kerrian guy knew this place well enough to keep them from getting lost.
"Get the water!!" She heard a man scream as he ran buy the Inn.
Malin burst in, "You guys need to go! I have faith in you to find what your looking for but to do that you need to move out now!"
Malin shoved the journal into Rain's hands and ran out of the Inn along with just about everyone else. Quickly rain gathered everyone she asked to help her. Everyone who had agreed to it. They left the Inn quickly and a few of them wondered if they should stay and help put the flames out because once they got outside the flames were vibrant and glowing a hateful orange to the north end ofthe village. The direction they needed to go. Kerrian seemed put out, now they had to go around all of it and that was just gonna take more time and effort.
If he was gonna be stuck with these people he wanted to get done what needed to be done... and be done with it. Rain fought the urge to help the village because she was told to get out. Kerrian led them east into the forest where the rounded around and headed north from there.
They heard the sounds of the village fighting the fires and soon it seemed to die down. Rain stopped to catch her breath. Kerrian stepped closer to her to pull her back to her feet, "We need to keep-" Before he could finish his words a fireball slammed into the ground a few inches from his and Rain's feet. They looked up in shock to see this elderly woman in darker cloaks glaring at them.
"Do not touch her. She is mine young witch and I shall have what I seek!" She said in a very calm collected and yet unerving voice.
"What do you want with me?" Rain was sick of this.
"Oh my dear, you are a rare one. I have heard so many things. Of course what I hear is you nothing about what you are capable of. No matter, I dont need your skills. I need your youth."
"My youth!?"
Kerrian glared at the woman, "She thinks your young age and energy will give her new youth and extended life. She tends to sap you of everything you got."
"You put it in such harsh words... I am so hurt."
"Who are you anyways?" Milo asked suddenly.
The woman laughed as though everyone should know, "I am the Fire Master Flayr. Tempt me not child for I will burn you all down to the ground to get to the girl. Trust me."
----
Ooc: Ok Ugamon your turn, now she shouldnt be dead and shouldnt be beaten within the first post, i need her later, but she cant get rain obviously :) have at it.
Sage sat behind the inn, watching her horse graze in the moonlight. With a sigh she lowered her head and let her hair fall around her face. This was an odd situation. She had known something lay ahead, something that would help her in her quest but this… this was far beyond what she had expected. The girl needed help, that much was obvious. And she had an aura around her that told Sage to trust her story. From what she had seen of their party, another fighter would be advantageous… she would agree to join them.
Sage stood and walked out into the field toward the horse. Then she heard it. Someone was screaming. Sage turned and saw the flames at the other end of the village. Whistling for her horse she pulled herself onto his back from mid gallop and steered him against his normal instincts toward the fire. A man was being pulled from the building as people rushed passed with buckets of water. Sage dismounted and went to the man. His companions stared at her then parted to let her through.
“We don’t know ‘ow it ‘appened.” One of them was saying. Sage knelt by the man
“Is there anyone else inside?”
“No, they was all visiten’ family. Jake stayed behind to look after things.”
The man had a deep gash in his leg and was losing blood fast. Sage placed her hands over the cut and closed her eyes. She felt warmth trickle down her fingers. She opened them again to see that the cut, while not mended completely, had stopped bleeding and was sealed enough to prevent reopening. The men thanked her and started to move him out of the way. The building was disintegrating and the one next to it was catching the flaming debris; that one would start to burn soon.
She stood and turned to look back into the town. People were running by her with buckets from the well in the center. But beyond that she saw the girl Rain and her companions rushing from the inn and heading quickly away from town.
Sage mounted her horse and spurred him to follow. As she passed the inn she felt a dark force shoot passed her toward the group in heat and flame. Sage kicked the horse into a run…
Kerrian Glared at the Fire elementist and said. You Shall not have this one for the pure fact your ugly as sin.. Matter of fact your so ugly i wonder how you can look in a mirror at your self. He gave a smirk at this and held his Staff at ready and Started on a powerful protection Spell.
The Flame Master Howled in rage at his comment and Held out her Hands and a Thin Stream of Fire shot between them as she focused the energy and with her left hand she pulled it out it fell to the ground lighting the grass up as she did and Pulled a Arm back and Started to twirl the Whip of flames. Kerrian Eyebrow went up as he brought his staff up it glowed with the symbols of many spells locked within and said. Nice whip did you steal that from someone else to? The Fire elementalist Lashed out at this and Nailed Kerrian on the cheek with a light lash and she gave a chuckle and said. You might have some slight knowledge of magic Child but i am a Master.. Bow Down and surrender the girl and i will spare your life and this town from Destruction at my hand..
Kerrian Grinned as he said. Not gonna Happen. He closed his eyes and his Staff glowed a Errie green as he brought a hand up and The earth rumbled and the plants started to grow at a alarming rate Suddenly the Plants bursted out of the ground and started to wrap around the Fire Elementalist and she laughed and said. Fool No mere Plant will bind me.She spoke a word of Power then and the Plants lit up in flames Withering and turned to ash as she Laughed mockly and Held up her Free hand and a Swirlling of energies only a magic user could see appeared and a huge Fireball appeared in her fingers as she Let it loose. THe flames shot off at Kerrian who Gritted his teeth and Threw up a shield as it slammed into his and Sent him flying back as he Slammed into the wooden building behind him Buckling the wood and Splitering it. She laughed and started to walk towards Rain her eyes a glow with Power to be unleashed.. Kerrian Saw this and Growlled he looked up at the moon and Said. Mother if you wish this Girl protected your gonna need to ggive me a hand here.As he spoke those words a burst of moonlight Surronded Rain and A slivery Shield Of light Grew around her as the Flame Witch grew closer. Rain was more shocked than anything else. Why her, she thought, Why would they want her? Why would people go to protect her when the dont even know her? When its someone the know nothing about and babbles on about the future. She figured they all thought she was off her rocker and they were going with her to pass time or humor her for a while. She suddenly shook off those thoughts and looked up. The light shilding thing around her pulsated with energy as Flayr now beat on it with her whip and steady fireballs.
Suddenly a man in black jumped from a tree above and came down right next to the Fire Master. As he fell he used a small blade and cut her arm as he landed. She wailed in pain as blood dripped from her new wound.
"This one shall not be harms. You are a selfish old woman. I have heard many things but could not beleive all those things i heard could amount to one old bitter woman. Everlasting Youth will NOT save you from the plague. She she is trying to do is find a cure havnt you heard? Now stay out of her way!"
For a slim built man he looked very intimidating for some reason even though he looked like a regular person.
She growled and sent a fire ball at him however it was quickly extinguised by Zeek who sent in his own elemental abilities. Flayr stopped suddenly and got this look of horror on her face. She hissed at them all and Ran in the other direction, dissapering into the forest.
"Look like she got a message telepathicly." Rain said, "I get that distant look on my face when I talk to Zeek."
"Prolly just her inner demons fighting amongst themselves." The man said facing her. He smiled kindly and helped her off the ground. "If she had taken your beauty and youth it would have been a mere shadow to the beauty you posses now. No one can wield it like you do." He kissed her hand lightly, "After all this jounry stuff is over you should come live with me in my paradise. Be my princess, how does that sound princess?" The look he was giving her now made her feel very uncomfortable and suddenly he leapt back as a flame ball flew at his feet.
Zeek flew in between the two of them and hissed such as a bird like thing could.
The man sighed, "Im sorry, I get the point. I went to far with that line. Anyways I have no doubt I will see you all again. Good luck with your trek." And with that he vanished into the night forest.
Rain shook of what shock she could and ran over to Kerrian. He had some cuts and some bad burns and few big bruises from his collusion with the old building wall. She couldnt understand why a guy like him would even consider helping someone he had no obligation to and the fact that he really didnt want to be there to begin with, yet he tried so hard and almost got burnt to a crisp for it.
She placed her right hand on the worst of the wounds and he left hand on a minor burn. She concentrated on the feelingshe got before with Zeek, how she wanted him to not be hurt any more. With her eyes closed she felt it surging again, the tingling power flow through her hands. This aura of blue and gold glowed around her hands as she moved them from spot to spot. She did this rather quickly but everythign was as good as new when she was done.
She stood up as Kerrian pulled himself up from the rubble. She figured she had to help him up before he stopped her. She knew he probably didnt want her help. She stepped back away from him cautiously and suddenly a rush of energy swelled in her mind and she swayed a bit. "You protected me, I had... to help you in return..." She said to him as she swayed even more.
RAIN! She heard Zeek's voice in her head and then it went black.
OOC: I know I'm posting a lot, but I'm trying to get Sage worked into the group, hopefully I'm not stepping on anyone's toes...
---
The horse burst through the trees in time to see the girl Rain stand and then fall into a faint. Sage leapt down from the horse and rushed to her side. She placed her hand on the girl’s head and closed her eyes.
“She’ll be fine, she’s just sapped of her energy.” Sage stood and looked at Kerrian who still sat on the ground “Are you alright?”
“I’m fine…now. Rain healed me.”
Sage nodded. She made a mental note to talk with Rain about healing powers.
“Who are you?” a man with silver hair stepped forward, staring at her critically.
“Sage Raphael. I was invited to join this quest and had not yet given my answer when the fires started.”
"Virgil.”
A more than half naked girl stepped forward and extended a had “Milo.”
Sage recovered from her appearance quickly. The girl must be a fighter, Sage had known men to attire themselves in this fashion who fought but this was the first women she’d met who did so.
“Well met.” She took the hand in a firm grip and nodded to everyone who returned the gesture. It seemed she’d have a bit of catching up to do. “Do we know where we’re going with Rain in this condition?”
Kerrian stood and nodded “The name is Kerrian, I am serving as the guide at the moment.”
Sage nodded and looked around at the others. Everyone was clearly just waiting. “If someone has a blanket, we can lay her on my horse and move out. I felt a darkness on my way to meet you.”
“And we fought it. It retreated in that direction.” Kerrian said picking up his staff.
Virgil nodded “Still, moving is a good idea.”
Kerrian shrugged “Then we are heading north.”
They managed to get Rain onto the horse with little difficulty and with Sage leading the horse by the reins, they pushed on into the woods.
Kerrian Led them through the moonlit woods his inner eye picking the best paths out by the mothers faithful moonlight. As the Group came to a clearing he said. Ok people set up camp..Milo you got first watch i need to go gather herbs and seeds for medicine. I will be back in a few hours and then i will get a little sleep before i take my turn. Virgil your after Milo and Sage Your after Virgil.. Ok.. Good.. The bears up here are terroritoral so stay by the campfire. They will leave you alone unless they Smell food. With that he seemed to disappear into the trees.
What happened after he Crept off was he doubled back quietly and Grabed Zeek without them noticing as he crept back into the forest with the little guy under a arm. As soon as they were about a quarter mile away he pulled him out and Said. Ok Fluff ball we need to talk.. Kerrian noticed the little Fuzzball seemed kinda Angry at being Plucked away from rain but Kerrian didn't care he needed to talk to him. Look Fuzzy i heard what you and Rain said about me at the inn.. I also Know Malin would never say i was cut out to do anything but gather herbs and maybe guide people around for the rest of my life.. So Cut the bull Got it? I can hear you talking with her and it grates on my nerves.. So just like keep it down you stupid fuzzball.
Zeek seemed to blink and said to Kredion in his own mental way. How can you hear what i am saying.. I Speak in a personal link. Plus no normal Humans i have met can understand when i talk in this manner.. Who and What Exactly are you that allows you to do this.. Only True Immortals and Gods.. or Ones with great power can speak and understand me.
Kerrian looked at Zeek funny and said. No Power i have compares to any power you are refering to so you got me.. Go back to camp.. and Keep your little booming mental voice down.
Kerrian watched the little Fuzzball fly back and Started to gather his herbs.. by the time he got back it was Virgil on Watch and Kerrian laid down away from the fire and adjusted his cloak to cover him and drifted off till it was his turn for watch
OOC: I hope no one minds, but I am going to get a little action going.
Milo woke Virgil up for his turn to guard. She still didn't like him, but they were going to have to travel together to help Rain.
Before she got out the cloak that Ariel had put in her pack though, and went to sleep, she had to take care of her business. She left her pack behind, but grabbed one of her knives just in case.
It had been a strange trip so far. The people who were after Rain were certainly unusual. As Milo walked away from the camp, still naked she thought of why they they seemed so familiar. It was like she had seen them in a dream before. Or a dream of a dream. Milo shook her head to clear her thoughts. She wouldn't worry about that now.
Further out of camp, she squatted down and started to urinate. She had to go for a long time.
"I hope I'm not out here for very long." She thought.
Suddenly, a growl got her attention. Coming up to her was a very large bear. Milo called to the others to come help.
As they got there, she stood up, still pissing and got her knife out to fight.
OOC: Anyone can help her fight the bear. It can just be Virgil or everyone.
Virgil was sitting by the fire and calmly trying to go over everything that had just happend in his head. He was filled with a sense of guilt about what happend in town. He felt that if he had reacted at the very moment he heard the voices in the alley this may have been preventable. What made the fact worse was that now he could clearly look up and see the horrible red star in the night sky. Why had it appeared to him now? Did it mean someone had found the valley? If so, then blood would soon fill the streets of all cities. Tragedy would befall the world.
This was all getting to be too much for him. He wasn't ready to handle something like this. Was it because Rain had appeared? From what he had heard she was definitly something to be cuvitated, and a great source of good in this world. But for every great good, the world must balance wtih an equally great evil.
It was at this moment that Virgil heard a loud scream coming from the forest. Virgil then became aware of the fact that Milo was gone. She must have wonderd off into the woods. Virgil grabbed his sword and charged in to find her. Of course, he found her standing naked in the woods, with a rather angry looking bear stumbling towards her. Virgil jumped forward and slammed the butt of his sword. There was a loud roar from the animal as Virgil looked over to Milo "You can't help but always be in some kind of trouble, can you?"
The beast turned around and was met with the tip of Virgils sword. Virgil didn't want to kill it, so he used a quick jab to the nose to cause it pass out. He then sheathed his blade and walked over the nude, and for some reason, wet and smelly woman "Maybe you should try to remember that this is the forest and we are being hunted by things alot scarier then this dumb bear."
For some reason he couldn't help but be mean to her. Maybe it had to do with that tattoo she had. He doubted she even knew what it meant, but it with all that was happening, the very sight of it was upetting.
A long haired girl stood before rain in a vast dark spaces of her mind, her hair reaching the middle of her back. The girl wore modern tight jeans, a ruby covered belt with a ruby covered scabbard tied neatly to the side, Rain guessed a sword was inside most likely with more rubies imbedded into the blade or something. A modern day long sleeve blue shirt seemed to glow on this girl. Her green eyes met Rains and they stared at each other for several minutes with not a word between the two of them. Just unsaid questions.
The long haired girl put her bright red hair up in a pony tail and pulled on leather gloves what were missing the fingers.
"So I see you are here..." She said quietly.
"Where is here exactly?" Rain asked and realized the sound came from all around her, not her mouth.
"In your mind of course. You must have expended quite a bit of energy doing whatever it was that you were doing. You seem to have fallen into the deepest of rests next to a coma."
"Im not gonna wake up?"
"I said the next deepest, you will wake up, It will just take you a while. But because your so deep you are in a place now where I can communicate with you. It is verry difficult to travel through the mind of someone...." she was going to say something but paused to decide her words carefully, "Someone... else. It is not easy to break into the mind of someone such as yourself."
"So if you went through all this trouble to get to my mind what is it you wanted?"
"To tell you of something important... Rain there is more going on than meets the eye. Someone who is has helped you has darker things in mind. You must have sensed it when the stranger looked at you. He is no friend even if it looked like he was helping you with the Fire Witch."
"So... what is going on really? Do you know what I am actually trying to locate and where it is?"
The girl looked sad and shook her head, "I am afraid I know just about as much as you do on that subject. If you are separated from the others in the mountain, seek out Alanna, she knows the way."
"Alanna, thats not the first time I have heard that name... Who are you?"
"Who am I? Who are you? Do we ever really know who we are truthfully?" And the girl vanished as if she was mist.
Rain stared into the blackness around her, the silence overwheleming. "I am so confused..." And things went black again... to a dreamless sleep.
Milo wanted to be brave, she wanted to take care of the bear on her own. But then fear took hold of her. That was why she had called to the others. Then as the bear moved forward, she did something that made her feel weak and foolish. She screamed. Not only that but she tried to run before the bear advanced. However, her attempt to flee failed and she only fell over backwards.
"Great, now I am laying 'ere and pissing all over myself. What a way to go."
Then Virgil came to her rescue. After dealing with the bear, he walked over to her and just stood silently. The only thing that could be heard was the sound of her urinating on herself. When she finished urinating, he helped her up.
"Maybe you should try to remember that this is the forest and we are being hunted by things alot scarier then this dumb bear." He said.
Milo tried to think of a good come back, but felt too foolish already so she held her tongue. She wondered why he always had to be mean to her, as she went to a nearby lake to wash off.
When she came back to camp, Virgil's guard shift was almost done. Soon it would be Sage's turn. Filled with worry for some reason, she went over to wear Rain was sleeping. She looked at this strange girl with pity. If Rain's story about where she came from was true (not that Milo had any doubts about it) then she must be very frightened and confused. Her face certainly had a look of trouble to it. Since it was such a cold night, Milo gently undressed Rain so that she was as nude as she was. Then she grabbed her cloak from her pack and covered it over both of them. She hugged Rain close to give her warmth and fell asleep.
Out in front of her stretched an expansive field, green and tall. The wind was warm and soothing. A doe grazed a distance off. Everything breathed of summer… then the world shifted and jolted her suddenly into battle. The same field, the same season, but filled with hundreds of soldiers and the crash of steel and thuds of leather. Red, blood. Gabe was shouting something at her. She saw him rush into the fray with her other companions. A girl was screaming…
Sage sat bolt upright and looked around to see Virgil’s back disappearing into the underbrush as the scream faded. It was still night and they were still in camp. Sage ran a hand through her hair. She stood. If Virgil needed help, he’d call for it. Looking around she noticed Milo and Kerrian were missing. Rain still slept. Sage bent over her and ran a gentle hand across her cheek. What a strange and terrible world fate had dropped this girl in.
Sage was sitting by the fire when Virgil appeared again through the brush.
“You are awake then? Why didn’t you come to help when Milo screamed?”
Sage looked up at him and gave a small smile “Someone had to guard camp, I couldn’t see the profit in leaving Rain here alone and defenseless.”
Virgil looked around at that and sat next to her “Where’s Kerrian?”
“Sleeping in the shadows over there." Sage indicated with a nod " I can only guess he's asleep. I take it the girl’s alright.”
Virgil nodded and ran a hand through his hair in a frustrated gesture “Yes, she forgot herself and a bear caught her. It’s knocked out, not likely to come back this way when it awakes.”
Sage patted him on the arm “You seem to have had enough excitement for the night; you might as well go to sleep. Near enough to my turn as it is. Besides, I’ve had enough of sleep for this night.”
Virgil stared at her for a moment, seeming to sum her up, then nodded and went off somewhere behind her, she could only assume to make his bed. Sage saw Milo come back, but said nothing. It seemed the girl wanted to be unseen in her return, so Sage let her. Taking one of the blades form her back, she retrieved a sharpening stone from her belt pouch and with a calmness of meditation, set to work on the sword.
Rain stirred, she felt very strange, as though she had been stripped of everything. Her eyes slowly opened and she realized she HAD been stripped. Literally. She jerked into the upright position and realized it was harder to do because Milo, who was also naked like always, was laying next to her in almost a cuddle. Rain's right eyebrow twitched a bit and she stood up and put the cloak back over milo and found her clothes again. Quickly putting them on she retreated the out skirt area of camp.
Even though Milo was used to walking around and fighting nude and was not bothered by it one bit, Rain was raised far more different than that. Plus she just felt some what uncomfortable in a situation like that with another girl. She shook the thoughts out of her head and stared at the fire in the center of the camp.
"Alanna..." She said quietly to herself. It seemed familiar but she knew she hadnt heard that name before except for earlier when she was first here in this time period. She glanced at Zeek. He was curled up by the fire, fast asleep.
Who was this alanna and why did the person in her mind talking to her look so much like her.
Probably your sub concious relaying a message. Most who enter another persons mind like that would most likely never be able to form their own physical looks. Notice how it had your modern time clothes on and your hair... if it were longer? So if someone was trying to communicate with you their own mind would appear in a similar form to your own... At least that is my guess...
I thought you were asleep...
I am, he said, I am able to communicate while I sleep, tis all in my mind so while my body rests my mind is in constant connection with you so therefore i saw what you saw while you were asleep. BY the way, dont waste so much energy like that again. His wounds were minor and didnt need that much care. You could have injured yourself.
I am sorry I dont know what came over me, I just had to help him, it was an impulse, but you are right. He doesnt want my help, he doesnt even really want to be here and its my fault hes dragging himself along to lead us through these stupid woods. She said with a sigh, this was getting irritating, was she ever going to get a NORMAL moment?
Meh he has a lot more to him than he lets on, so dont be so sure.
What do you mean?
Its uh... He decided not to mention his conversation with Kerrian to Rain, just , what you call it? A hunch?
Yeah somethin like that...
Sage glanced up from her work and watched Rain for a moment. The girl was clearly shaken, it was possible she had never been drained like that before so the waking was as unnerving as the passing out. Sage set down her sharpening stone and hailed her.
?I see you?ve finally awakened. Come, it?s a cold night, the fire will do you good.? Rain hesitated then approached slowly. She sat across from Sage and pulled her cloak close. ?Are you hungry?? Sage reached into her pouch and pulled out a hunk of dried meat. ?Here, go on. It?s not poisoned I promise.?
Rain took it slowly and started to eat. ?I?m glad you decided to join us. When did you, by the way??
?I came in just in time to witness your collapse.? Rain put her head in her hand in a gesture of frustration. ?You haven?t attempted to heal anyone before this have you??Sage added in a kind tone.
Rain shook her head ?It just seemed like something I should do, he had fought to save me? I have no idea why, and so I tried and it worked, except??
?You knocked yourself unconscious.? Sage finished for her. Rain nodded. ?Healing takes a lot of training to avoid harming yourself, to know your limits. Also I sense healing is not your primary ability.?
Rain shook her head ?I?m still trying to figure things out, it?s a lot to deal with all at once, I honestly don?t know all my abilities myself yet.?
Sage nodded ?I understand. This is a harsh place to be dropped in so suddenly, and our situation is far from normal even in this place. But, as long as I am here, you can concentrate on other things besides trying to heal ?healing is my primary gift, and I have spent years in training.?
Rain looked at her appraisingly and then smiled, the first time Sage had ever seen her do so. ?Things are so complicated? it?s nice to have even one less thing to worry about.?
The one named Sage had just relieved Virgil from his post on guard. Unfortunatley he still couldn't calm himself enough to rest easy. Too much was happening too fast. He could feel the impending danger all around them. Whats worse is that he's not even sure what that danger really is. It's like waiting for a blade for fall on to your neck.
The cool night air and the stary sky above could usually calm him, but tonight they offerd no comfort. Virgil could hear Sage and Rain speaking. Virgil was aware of there voices but he wasn't really listening to them. They were going on about healing or something like that. Virgil layed down on one side and rolled over. He could see that naked girl lying on the ground, still wrapped in that cloak Rain had kicked herself out of. If nothingelse she seemed to be a deep sleeper. Why was is it that she botherd him so much?
It was as this thought crossed his mind that he became aware of the fact that he still hadn't seen Kerrian all night. He felt well enough to trust Sage, Rain, and even Milo a little bit, but something about Kerrian put him on edge. Maybe it was just that fact that he was trying to be a loner in a team. Whatever the case maybe, it didn't change that fact that Virgil couldn't get to sleep. He rolled to his back and looked straight up into the night sky. He closed his eyes and simply hoped for peace, knowing it probably wouldn't come.
It was understandable that many people would be put off by the fact that Kredion Seemed to be missing. His connection with nature tended to camoflague him when he was asleep allowing him to be one with nature and it's natural elements as he slept.. Needless to say he had no worry's of animals attacking him nor other beasties.. Unless they saw through his magick.
He now awoke and his body was still in it's strange shadowmeld with the night as he got up slowly and headed over to Sage and Rain his Movements unnoticed as he walked up from behind and listened for a moment before saying. Lady Rain will be in need of her Skills in healing as well as the Sword at her waist.. If you will allow me a few hours before my watch shift i will Show her part of what i know. He looked from Rain to Sage for a comment and glanced back at Virgil and then back at Rain he held his hand out for the sword and said. May i see your sword again for a moment so i can show you what i know? He looked a Rain his eyes shined lightly in the firelight as he waited.
Rain smiled slightly, the man who didnt want to be here was actually offering help. Of course she figured that he was offering to help only because he was obligated to keep her safe and didnt want his mission blown all to rat shit if she was unable to keep herself alive in dangerous situations. She could see it now. Kerrian bitching and complaining as she dies because she couldnt swing her damn sword fast enough. That was a swell thought.
She nodded and stood up. She untied it from her waist and carefully handed it to him. He pulled it out and stared at the blade carefully, almost annoyed she had the sword in the first place. She didnt question it, she didnt want to start some dispute that would wake ever living fang bearing monster in the forest.
There was a moment of silence and then Kerrian asked Rain to follow him to a clear part of camp away from others but still within the warm glow of the fire light. It was comforting to know she wouldnt need to worry about tripping and landing in the fire for everyone to see her burst into flames.
Over the course of a few hours he showed her the basics. First using the sword to show her different moves and letting her try after she could explain why the particular move was done and what it was for and all that technical stuff that made her head swirl. Soon she was using it against him in a single play spar. He warned her ahead of time that she wasnt going to win but it was for practice and if she kept it up enough that eventually she would be good enough to stand a chance against some enemies and even more training she might be able to be at the same level as some of the other people around her. She didnt mind how he made it seem like she was some kid, after all she was in a place like this, age had nothing to do with it.
He held his staff in both hands and motioned for her to advance. At first she was slightly clumsy, getting knocked down every few minutes, suddenly she got very frustrated at how she couldnt get a good swing in.
"I can do this!" She growled to herself, suddenly leaping up off the ground as though she were a feather caught up in a wind.
Suddenly she was almost to quick for him. He was now on the defensive as she swung visciously at him. She spun around and almost caught him on his right side with the flat edge of her blade but he realized it fast enough to dodge out of the way with a quick foot motion. He bumped her with his staff and she tumbled to the ground. With frustration in her eyes she reached out her free hand and suddenly vines and roots from the trees nearby sprouted from the ground and tangled themselves around his feet.
This distraction gave her two seconds, she used them. She spun around on the ground knocking him onto his back with a swift kick and leapt up and placed the tip of the blade to his throat. He looked both shocked and amused as his staff head was pointed at her temple.
"Had I any good skill with attacking Magic you would be down before I was but that... was impressive. How... after just an hour are you able to manuver so fluidly?"
She pulled him off the ground and untangled him from the roots that were still clutching to his feet. "I dont know to be honest. I just got... I just had to do it you know and suddenly I was moving. I had no idea I could do that. It just all came to me."
Zeek was slient, saying nothing to her but he had noticed the other part of the battle that he found more interesting than her physical movements and sudden stratigic win, sort of.
"And wait a second," Kerrian paused and looked at the ground, "Well I suppose I know one of your abilities now. Other than the healing part anyways."
"How ... How did I do that anyways?" She wondered, "I cant say I didnt do it because I know I did. I felt it swelling inside of me, the need to distract you, the need for the upper hand even for a moment and suddenly I felt energised and then the roots took your feet. I dont understand it, but it happend."
"Very interesting... Intent has alot to do with it, you didnt hold back and that is good, we will practice more later on. For now I must take over watch, get some rest." Then he sat where he could take in the entire surroundings and went into deep thought on what just happend.
She returned the sword to its rightful place at her side and sat by the fire. Its pulsating glow soothed her thoughts and she felt no worry. She rested her head on the ground and soon found peaceful sleep.
I wonder if she realizes... Zeek thought to himself, blocking his throughts from Rain so she could not hear them. He then trailed off and fell asleep near her, keeping an open mind for danger.
----
ooc: guess what, in the morning we head through the forest again, this time we make it closer to the mountains but dont get to them yet, I have some more things planned.
Sage stared at Kerrian over the fire. His arrogance was incredible. He had treated her as if she had been trying to hinder Rain in some fashion, or maybe he wanted her to pass out again, perhaps this time in the middle of a battle. She had never met with this kind of instant plain disregard before.
Sage only told Rain not to drain herself by healing if she, Sage, were there. That way Rain could put her energy to something else; Rain clearly had many powerful and differing gifts which was a rare thing for a pure blood, or even a dark blood. Doing multiple things that all sap energy could make her either highly ineffective with all, or put her in a comma.
Sage looked back into the fire and shook her head. She unsheathed her other sword and again pulled out the sharpening stone. If they had so little use for her, perhaps she should have remained on her own.
.........................................................................
OOC: don't let her thoughts worry anyone :catgirl:, it's just the way Sage would react to the way she's been treated thus far, she's not going anywhere.
Milo woke up to find the others putting out the smoldering remains of the campfire. She stretched and yawned.
"So what is going on everyone? Breakfast I 'ope."
Virgil walked by her, getting some of his things together.
"We'll worry about that later. While you were sleeping,we all decided to head through the forest before it gets dark. We don't want to be caught by surprise again like by your bear last night."
Milo grumbled and got her pack together as well. Soon, they were off.
As they headed to the forest, Milo saw a steady stream of smoke rising the trees.
"Look at that, a campfire. It is too small to be a forest fire. I will go check it out. I will signal all of ye if I need help."
Virgil and the others nodded. Milo moved forward on her own. What she saw surprised her. It was a pair of bandits, and it seemed that they were both counting the bounty they had recently made. Milo knew that their group could have easily passed them by without trouble, but she wanted to try to take that treasure. She thought of going back and asking everyone for help, but she was afraid they would say no and decide to go around. So she did something very stupid.
"Rain, I hope ye forgive me for this but this treasure might be able to help us on our journey." She whispered to herself.
Milo hid her knives nearby and walked out towards the bandits.
"Excuse me, but I 'ave never been around 'ere before and I seem to be lost. Also, I seem to 'ave lost my clothes. Can ye 'elp me?" Milo asked the surprised bandits.
They did as she hoped they would, and started to fight over who would have his way with this naked girl. However before they could come to an agreement, Milo quickly dropped them both to the ground with the blades she had hidden in the brush. She grabbed some of the treasure as proof and went to go tell the others what she had found.
OOC: I hope no one minds if I move it to next morning.
Kerrian can be a bastard on the outside but he has a heart i assure you.. Besides i have a plan concerning all of you in the future.. and me and Frankie have discussed this in detail..
---------------------------------------------------------
After his little training Spar with Rain Kerrian Took up guard duty. Sitting their where he could see all around he watched the camp until they started to wake up with the rising sun and he got up. He had considered how She had used his own style magick against him and the only thing he could pin it up as was that either she had somehow picked it up or had copyed what he had done the night before with the Flame Master. He was leaning towards the second more then the first. It also Annoyed him that it seemed everytime the little fuzzball spoke he could hear it ringing through his head like a damn marching band.. Even if he was shielding his thoughts. That Fuzzy little thing had some explaining to do about Rain and why she Carried his Father sword.. Many could carry the sword however only a few could pull it from it's shealth. Something was strange about that young lady.
Getting up he moved over to where his bag still laid from the night before and threw the strap over his head as he made his back into the camp and they filed out back onto the path. A little while later he noticed Milo heading off to do something and as she left he Silently cast a spell to keep track of her. He wasn't going to allow this lady to distract them from their first goal of Reaching the mountian in a few days. Truthfully they made a decent time for such a party but he was still used to move at his own speed through the thick and lush forests. A short while after Milo left Kerrian heard and felt a strange disturbance in the bushes and held up a hand for the others to wait. Moving forward to scout. It seemed as if he had just blended into the trees to the others. Silently moving he Reached out with his Magicail senses and worked mentally on a simple Enviormental Scanning spell. Muttering the words he felt his eyes shift focus and looked around. As he did he almost swore and quietly ducked back onto the path towards the others. As he reached them he seemed to shimmer with a unseen power as his body became easily seen again. Turning to Virgil and Sage he said. Up ahead is a Number of Goblins hiding in wait for us.. I suggest Virgil takes the right side, Sage your left.. Rain stay behind me your still not trained enough in the use of that sword to be able to use it properly. Normally i would wait for Milo but we don't have the time.. With the sun about to hit the western mountains i think they will attack when it is dusk.. When they have the advanage.
The comment he made, although true still made her a little mad. It wsnt like she was a master but she figured she could help in some way. She stayed behind him anyways and kept her trap shut. This was going to be one helll of a journey if she was going to be treated like some fragile unskilled child she might just hack someones leg off.
"What a fantastic day!" she mummbled sarcasticly.
Sage glanced up the road. Goblins. Wonderful. They were thick skulled creatures typically and she was glad she had her blades instead of her staff. Sage pulled her horse’s reigns and turned him back smacking his rump. He galloped off down the path, the intent being for him to intersect Milo so she could rejoin join them quickly.
Sage took the position recommended to her, and with a swift smooth motion removed the twin blades from their sheths at her back. They shown of a very light colored metal reflected in the sun as her hands found their holds in the ivory handles. As pretty as the blades were to look at, they had a nasty curved edge that, thanks to her diligence the night before, were clearly extremely sharp. Without her wings, she looked less like an angel and more like a Valkerie; both images were an advantage.
They approached the goblins the boys slowed, obviously thinking of a stealthy attack, but Sage kept a brisk pace. Sage walked straight toward the goblins, and when they stood and started to take up arms, she was already to them, killing the first with a swift slice that removed it of its head. Out of the corner of her eye she saw the boys steping up next to her...
Kerrian Glanced at the two warriors on each side and backed up holding a hand behind him to indicate to Rain that she should backup as well. Holding his Staff in one had he muttered a word and the Staff's Runes glowed. As the Sunset the Goblins came rushing out of the Woods their Skin in Hues of Sickly Green, Burnt Red, Pale Sky Blue and Brown.. In their Hands were clubs, Knives and small rusty Swords from the people they had pillaged from..
As Kerrian Saw this His eyes Narrowed and he cast a glance at Sage and Virgil and said. Hold them as long as you can.. As the Goblin's Charged Kerrian sang.. It was almost haunting in Tone and Strength As he did the Forest Seemed Alive The Trees Rustled and the Plants Grew at a alarming rate Ivy and Thorns Reached out into the forest path Tripping or Cutting into any Goblin Stupid enough to get too close. Virgil Lept into action as did Sage Both Warrior's Blades Twirling and Seeming to Hum in the Twilight Air as they Cut into the goblin's Flesh.
As the Song Increased in Tone and volume the Plants Grew faster and thicker.. Kerrian Turned his head towards Rain and a Goblin that got past the Warriors Charged at them and Rain Pushed Kerrian Aside as she Pulled her Sword out and Sliced the Goblin Clean through in a swift Strike. She Turned to him with a Grin and a Raised Eyebrow.
She was tired of this defenseless little girl thing, being ushered to the back and protected like a treasure, she was just some girl from the future, she wasnt a trasure to be protected and she was sick of it. She sliced through a goblin like a hot knife through butter and Kerrian's face was slightly shocked.
Rain rushed past him and his twisted ivy mess that had risen out of the ground. His voice was mezmerizing to her but she kept her head straight and when one slipped by she wasnt about to let anything happen. As she went by she passed Sage and Virgil who were also busy with their own problems.
She felt as though she knew what she was doing, even though she had never done it before. She sliced through a goblin completely removing one of his arms. The mess was huge but she didnt stop there, after removing his other arm she moved on to more goblins. It was a rush through her blood stream like something else had taken over her and entered her memory making it seem like she had done this for years.
Finaly she made it to a brown one closer to the trees... on the outer rim of the clearing they were in. She slashed at it but it moved to soon. She tried again and dodged out of the way but his small blade sliced down her upper arm. Blood spilled from her arm and pain seered there. In a rage she punched at the goblin and the goblin was hit with what seemed like an invisible force. His body exploded and Rain turned around. Everyone else had gotten rid of the others, and no more were left alive enough to put up a fight.
Everyone's shocked faced fixated on Rain's arms. She glanced at the long cut and shruged. Taking her free hand she quickly moved it across the cut as she rubbed the blood off her arm everyone noticed that the wound was completely gone. She plopped down on the ground next to the exploded goblin carcas.
"Tonight is going to be a long night..." She muttered to herself as she cleaned off the blade.
Kerrian Recovered from his shock Slightly Slower then the rest... However the War Crys of the goblins were what Snapped him out of it. Twirling From Rain he saw the Goblins Charging from behind and with them were Orc's with Bluish Black skin.. Axes and Spears Bouncing around as they Charged..
Kerrian Glanced at the Warriors and Saw them Go into a Agressive stance with their blades and Charged into the oncoming onslaught Rain Glanced at Kerrian and Charged in after them... Leaving Kerrian Alone As the Remains started to leak through.
His Anger and Fury for not expecting this Filled him. His Regret for not better Serving the Task Laid out before and His Sorrow for failing before.. All these Whirled in his head as He leaned back his head and Howled The moon seemed to Glow Brighter and the Forest Came into Full Life as the Animals moved to protect it. Bears, Wolves, Hawks and Songbirds, Rabbits and Deer Seemed to Grow Feral and deadly, The Rodents of the forest Came out in packs a Mad fury in their eyes as they leaped out of Trees and Ground Biting and scratching the Goblins who Howled in agony.
Bears and Wolves Normally Enemies came out of Nowhere and started to attack the Goblins in Pairs and Packs, Hawks and Songbirds Divebombed and Scratched at the eyes of the Goblins and Orcs Attempting to kill them or dirve them back.. As all this happened Sage and Virgil Hacked and slashed through the Lines and Rain was Frankly Slaughtering left and Right. Suddenly and all stoped as a Flash of Sliver Flew past them. As it pasted a Huge Spray of Blood and Heads and other body parts flew thorugh the air as the Remaining Goblin's Fled They Warriors saw more of what had Flashed by them.. Standing Among the Trees and corpses. Stood A figure Wearing only a tunic and pants and both were splattered in blood.. His hands were drenched in it and his body gave off a Errie Sliver Glow.. The figure turned it's head and the Animals Seemed to back away slowly as if Pardoning themselves from this enity. The figure turned and Held out a hand Kerrian's Oak Staff flew into it. and the Figure Looked up and tossed back it's Blood matted brown hair. -e-
Rain stared at the feral Kerrian and she knew something was still off, aside from the glowy thing going on. She tried to speak to him but it seemed as though he had no understanding of what she was saying. She frowned. She needed to snap him out of this state and had no idea how to.
Heh you know he is annoyed by our chatter perhaps we can talk him to death... Zeek laughed
"No zeek, but... it does give me an idea..." She said cleaning her blade off again and setting it in the ground.
He is annoyed by me, i sense, so anything i do to him might just snap him out of it, of course it cant be just ANYTHING... but
What is it? Zeek asked as she hesitated
I would prefer not to, all the blood, AND of course how he will react when he comes to... if it works.
Just do something, we need to get somewhere safe and make camp, bloody battle areas always draw in predators and scavangers. We are not safe.
Rain took a deep breath and slowly approached him. He glared at her with his wild eyes and instead of fear, she felt understanding. Yet she didnt understand what it was she supposedly understood about the bloody wild man before her. He almost snarled at her but she decided to ignore it. If she got bit she got bit.
She glanced him in the eyes and reached up slowly to not alarm him. Setting her palm on his cheek she pulled him closer to her and then pulled him into a deep long kiss.
By the name of queen Sistania... that is NOT what i thought you were gonna do... Zeek said shocked...
