Panache
Well It's that time of year again. Today is halloween and I plan on watching horror movies for quite a bit after today. So I need some suggestions. What I am looking for is a horror flick like this. I want it to stay with me after I watch it. Not a ridiculous amount of nasty crap (basically if it is like saw gore wise and it relies on that alone don't recommend it) Some kind of interesting idea behind it(like a moral or something) Has to be actually scary. eleanor
I hear Audition is through the roof with the creepy-factor, but I haven't seen it. I rented it today for a party but no one was up for it. lol
Claire
Horror movies never scare me. I just can't handle gore. :/ The Ring is pretty creepy (which is why I LOVE it). I've only seen the American version, but the Japanese version, Ringu, is probably a lot scarier. If you can find it, you should try watching the Japanese version. (That probably goes for any American remake of a Japanese horror movie.) The Exorcist can be pretty unsettling as well, albeit a bit boring at the beginning. There is one scene in the Exorcist III that seriously scares the crap out of me; not just in a "GOTCHA!" way, but that I kept thinking about that one scene for days after watching it and I got really scared. I even had to sleep with the light on for two days after it. :[ You can probably find that scene on Youtube: just search for Exorcist 3 Nurse's Station or something. EDIT: http://youtube.com/watch?v=zH8ynu0jRvY I can't remember it having much of anything to do with the actual movie, but seriously. I can't even watch it now. Panache
Yea I don't think I can watch audition. Way way way too nasty... But thanks for the suggestions so far. I am kinda looking for something a bit obscure though.

PWNED
There's an Australian Horror flick that came out today (In Australia) called Rogue which is supposed to be alright. It's about a group of tourists that fall victim to a massive man-eating crocodile and seems to be a bit of a throwback to older horror films. James
Speaking of Australian horror films, Wolf Creek was creepy. Very creepy, lol. It's basically about these people from Sydney who are travelling way way out in the desert miles from anywhere...and their car breaks down. Some random guy with a truck picks them up and offers them a ride. He takes them back to his place and...well, it gets nasty as hell from there. lol Since they are out in the middle of nowhere with absolutely nowhere to go, I think that makes it quite a bit nastier. Not to mention that the bad guy is very unnerving in a lot of ways. Last night I saw 30 Days of Night, which was actually relatively good. It actually made vampires scary, for once. It's a gore-fest, but it does have some genuinely creepy moments...and the new treatment of the typical vampire legend is quite good. I'd probably compare it to 28 Weeks Later in terms of the overall feel - it's quite gritty, oddly realistic and there's a very strong sense of desparation and despair throughout the entire film. Other than that, nothing really comes to mind right now. But there are some good recommendations here already.
