After all, it was common knowledge that the military had VR technology, even though this hadn’t been officially announced. It was only a matter of time before VR became available for public use. The date of the official public release of VR technology was June 1^st, 2051.[/FONT][/COLOR][/I]

[I][COLOR=black][FONT=Tahoma]People wanting to buy their own VR units soon had their hopes dashed. VR units were complex machines, built to hold and maintain a person's body while the person was in VR. It was deemed unsafe to make VR units available for personal purchase. Instead, they were made available for use at public locations such as community centers. Dedicated VR facilities soon sprung up, as well, so finding a VR unit to use is rarely difficult. Such areas are always under heavy security, due to the potentially fatal consequences of meddling with VR equipment. Aside from the infamous ‘Sinwall Incident’, no crime has occurred at any VR facility within the , [/FONT][/COLOR][/I]

In this RPG, you will be playing as a player of Crossover, a hit VR game similar in concept to today's MMORPGs. Players can do essentially whatever they want in the context of Crossover's fantasy world. There is conflict, of course, and though it's generally seen to be between 'good' and 'evil', such distinctions are never actually made within Crossover itself, and many conflicts have more than two sides, anyways. Players are free to choose whichever side they want to, or none at all, and changing sides happens all the time. More details, including an explanation of the Etheria system, are in the Backstage thread, which is located [url=http://www.otakuboards.com/showthread.php?t=58250][COLOR=blue]here[/COLOR][/url].

Okay, now even though the setup is much like an MMORPG, I do have a story planned (and yes, the ‘Sinwall Incident’ is involved). Don't feel constrained by that, though. I have multiple possibilities planned out to allow for freedom in player actions, so feel free to do almost anything short of godmodding.

In the real world, Ashley is a successful journalist for a major newspaper. Originally he joined Crossover to investigate its members; the media wanted to determine whether or not continued exposure to such a realistic simulation could be harmful to players.

Ashley finished his story, but continued to enter the game. Over time, Crossover became the escape for an increasingly hostile reality including a deteriorating personal life and an increasingly demanding work schedule.

Today Ashley is a regular Crossover player who lives most of his life in the game world. Many of his friends are people he only knows through their avatars.

Only his closest online friends know anything about his personal life. Ashley is very reserved, even in the online world. Sometimes Ashley thinks that even he is beginning to forget what the real world is like.

[B]Personality[/B]: Joseph is very protective of his friends. However, he isn't very understanding. He can't go down to someone's mood level and feel their pain or happiness. Plus he is a stubborn teenager.

[B]Crossover Experience:[/B] Joseph, or Joe, is a fairly new player. He's been in the game for about a year and half. For his whole playing experience he has played with a sword or two daggers because they are very comfortable for his playing style. He doesn't get much done though, he just wanders the game looking for people and quests, but eh never really finished them.

His father used to play MMO's like World of Warcraft and Diablo, so he was brought up as a video gamer. Plus, he wishes to become a game programmer much like his father.

[B]Etheria[/B]: Joe's etheria are more like siblings to one another. Each one represents an element and a personality.

[B]The Crowing (Zraptre)[/B] - A big bird with sharp talons that tears almost anything at Joe's whim. She is roughly ten feet tall with a wingspan of over 20 feet. Despite her evil-like appearance, she is very cal, and trusting. She can breath lightning and ice. Zraptre is Joe's most valuable Ehteria, because she can also heal a player. She Has the element of Ice embedded into a gem located over his third eye, she symbolizes the thick crust of trust and the powerful zap of courage, and she also shows that you shouldn't take something at face value. She resembles a crow, thus her moniker The Crowing.

[B]Diaboro [/B]- A gigantic demon-like etheria that harbors the powers of hell. Diaboro looks like Joe's father. Diaboro has a special form where he is just an orb of darkness that Joe can fit in is hand. He doesn't prefer attacking, he's rather the support type, as he can fuse with Joe's weapon's for side effects. Diaboro represents the dark flame that grows in players that want power and fame. Diaboro is also name after Joe's father's favorite MMO Diablo II.

[B]Serjfreet [/B]- This etheria is both water and fire based, with qualities and powers that counter, and react to each other. He has a bunch of tubes throughout his body that circulate red and blue liquid to the opposite sides of his bodies. Named for water and fire. Serj isn't as obvious as freet which is a name almost like Efreet. Serjfreet represents the ebb and flow of justice and serenity. He has two spikes coming out of his back, one blue, one red.

[B]Crossover Experience:[/B] He's been into the game for about 2 years now. He's really deeply involved in the game and really has very few friends outside the game. He's more than happy to engage himself in every conceivable kind of task. Bounty hunting, inn keeping, and even just wandering. Since the game has no limits, he sets none for himself. He does every kind of task he can.

[B]Personality:[/B] He's a good guy, but he prefers virtual world to the real one. Something about the real world bores him. The thrill of this illussionary world draws him in. He has allowed his life to be absorbed into it and he is all to proud and happy about the fact. After all, the real world is a boring and pathetic world.

While he may not be very outgoing in the real world, in the game world he is all to eager to make new friends and experience new things. Even if he has to force himself on them. This also means there are quite a few people who don't like him, some who even fight with him almost every time they see him. But he does have friends and he is a good friend. Even if a little annoying at times.

He was one of the first two he picked, and he's never been able to part ways with him. Predator is a very proud and always holds his head high and chest out. He hates retreating and prefers to stay and fight. Not only is he able to fly and even carry Tommy, he is also able to create fire from both his mouth and his wings.

She keeps her black hair cut fairly short. She prefers to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing, and within [I]Crossover[/I], she carries her sword strapped to her back.[/COLOR]

[COLOR=darkslateblue][B]Personality:[/B] Kiva has always felt confined by reality. She was a frequent daydreamer when she was young, and as an adult, she spends much of her free time in [I]Crossover[/I], a world not constrained by reality. She's somewhat paranoid, always on the lookout for deception. She's also something of a conspiracy theorist, rarely satisfied by the official version of events. Within [I]Crossover[/I], her paranoia is less evident; she's still cautious and wary of decpetion, but it seems to fit better within the game.[/COLOR]

[COLOR=darkslateblue][B]Etheria:[/B] Kiva's most-used Etherian is Liquid. Liquid is humanoid, but with a greenish-blue skin that looks similar to light seen through water. Her abilities are water-based. She is skilled at manipulating water in its liquid and solid forms, though what she can do with water as a gas is limited. She can also shift her body to a liquid state. Physically, she's quite quick and agile, though her strength is limited.[/COLOR]

[COLOR=darkslateblue]Another Etherian Kiva frequently uses is Sinaeas. Sinaeas is basically centauroid, but instead of a combined horse and human, his appearance is rather demonic. He's large, too, well over three times Kiva's height and proportioned accordingly. He has no real abilities, but makes up for this physically. He's very strong, can take a beating, and can run rather fast when he wants to, although his agility is poor. Agile opponents can run circles around him, but when he can catch an opponent, he hits hard.[/COLOR]

[COLOR=darkslateblue]The third Etherian Kiva often uses is Arsia. She's very similar to Liquid in appearance, although her skin is a light green color. Like Liquid, she's very quick and agile, but somewhat lacking in physical strength. Although many of her wind-based abilities do little outright damage, they have other uses. She can use her abilities to enhance her own already impressive agility, or to greatly impare an enemy's mobility, though heavier opponents are largely unaffected.[/COLOR]

Triston weighs in at a healthy 185 lbs for a 6’ tall man. Broad shoulders, strong arms. Warm, olive complexion set off by a piercing, emerald green gaze. Triston is a cleanly kind of man, always looking his best but he is not narcissistic. His thick, jet black hair has a mind of its own; but strangely enough, it never looks disheveled.

[b]Personality[/b]- A tad unfriendly, Triston normally keeps to himself. He’s quiet, observant, and calm; though, his patience is not that great. But he rarely blows his top. Being that “tall, dark, and handsome” type, as the ladies will put it, Triston takes his time getting to know a person and being comfortable before opening up.

[b]Crossover Exp[/b]- Very new to the game, by only about 8 months. His ex got him into the loop, and he’s never really gotten out. Especially, after the break-up. Since then, he’s spent more and more time in the game. It’s a means to escape responsibilities, and a paradise from the twisted relationship he slaved to survive.

[b]Etheria[/b]-

[u][url=http://images.quizilla.com/E/EeveeCSA/1084488024_centaur.jpg]Elora[/url][/u]- This beauty is, obviously, a centaur. She was Triston's first Etheria, and most used of his three. And dare he say, his favorite. Elora is everything he could ask for. She's strong, fast, beautiful, powerful, and most importantly, loyal. Elora doesn't necessarily have magical properties, but her senses are hightened. Her hooves are extremely sensitive to vibration, which makes it easier to determine if she's being followed or if there will be an ambush. Hearing is unquestionably remarkable. She can hear a fly buzzing about over 1 mile away; as well as smell it. Elora carries a [url=http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb244/mirai_trunks/Zanpakotou/Fantasy_Swords_Cinthorc__Sword_of__.jpg]sword[/url] and a [url=http://www.by-the-sword.com/acatalog/images/cd-195b.jpg]battle axe[/url]. She has one "magical" attribute, and that is healing. She's still learning how to control this, but so far she can heal wounds with natural herbs and hand-made potions.

Artemus weighs close to 200lbs and his head is at level with Triston's. Artemus is a fierce and devoted fighter. He's strong, nimble, and his over-sized jaws speak for themselves. Not to mention his 20 lbs of paw. One bat from a paw will send a man soaring dozens of feet away, and in great pain. Triston normally doesn't call upon Artemus until he is needed in battle, or traveling in uncharted territory.

Horus has powerful vision; up to 8 times stronger than a human's eyesight. He can spot an ant on the ground from 500 plus feet in the air. That's just fact. However, Horus does a phenomenal attribute--his scream. This is useful in battle, or scaring the whits out of anyone, as it sounds like the cries of thousands being tormented. Horus's shrill can easily cause the eardrums to explode, and even destroy most of whatever's in the path of the shockwave. Horus normally sits on Triston's shoulder, or sometimes he catches a ride from Elora.

Appearance: Observe Attachment. Note the slender limbs, the pale skin, the wealth of auburn hair. The manic glint in her bronze eyes.

Personality: Mentally unstable. Cracked. Loopy. Loony. Unhinged. Renalori is an heiress to a moderate family fortune, which she doesn't really care about, since the only thing she does care about is Crossover.

Crossover experience: 5 years. Was among the first to register.

Etheria:

[URL="http://www.jaestudio.com/BlackDeath.jpg"]Metarka[/URL]: The dragon monarch. It's big, it's bad, and it likes Renalori. I wouldn't call Renalori and her alliance with Metarka unholy or evil by any means, but the two paired together definitely produce serious problems for those that like to think of themselves as good. If you ask Renalori if she's evil, she'll just say she follows an alternative system of morality. Metarka is a wind based monster, capable of flight, creating hurricanes, and generally causing serious destruction to private property. He likes to rampage, and if he didn't have Renalori to control him, he'd destroy everything he could get to.

[URL="http://www.jaestudio.com/NightSerpent.jpg"]Kemmler[/URL]: A snake. A really really really big snake. The summoning of this Etheria is far more complicated than the calling of Metarka, because unlike Metarka, who is happy to serve a master like Renalori, Kemmler has an oversized serpentine ego. However Renalori loves ritual and rites of sacrifice and such and thus, has Kemmler essentially bound to her in an almost equal partnership. Poison based, and when paired with Metarka, capable of causing a windstorm of venom. ......They tell me that poison tornados are bad. While the picture might show him as enormous, Kemmler isn't THAT huge, but the fact remains that if Renalori stood next to his face, she'd have to stand on tiptoe to make eye contact with him. He has big fangs, that don't necessarily drip venom, but when they are extended, most things within range usually get grazed.

[url="http://www.jaestudio.com/SpiritofDragons.jpg"]She Ma Nai[/url]: Spirit of Fire. A blue dragon of asian extraction, covered in the steam created from his body that burns eternally with blue fire. Not often used by Renalori for major battles, but when used, almost always ensures a quick and dirty victory. We think it's because he vaporizes everything in his immediate vicinity. He, like Kemmler, demands a mildly complicated summoning ritual, but since Renalori has yet to screw up a summoning of him, it's all good. He likes to grow in power, so while Renalori doesn't call him up to destroy entire towns, she does call him quite often, using him steadily and carefully, unwilling to make serious mistakes with his growth.[/FONT][/COLOR]

[B]Personality:[/b] The majority of the time calm, sarcastic, teasing, joking. When the situation calls for she can be serious and more level-headed than most, but when it doesn't call for she's normally joking around or being sarcastic, normally a very open person in general. Though calm and level-headed, Beth has been known be a dangerous woman when angered - luckily this doesn't happen often - and is known to resort to violent outbursts.

[B]Zeus[/B], named after the obvious Greek God, is a ground type Etherian that takes the form of an overally large Goat creature, about the size of a small horse. Zeus is among the first Beth picked, considered the most formidable in her force. He uses his large horns and hooves and create earthquakes and tremours and can also charge at great speeds into solid rock without doing much harm. Zeus is armoured and exhibits traits and abilities like a rhino, but the appearance of a silver goat-creature with hollow black eyes.

The second, [B]Raserei[/B], is a large, falcon-like bird with deadly accuracy and speed. Though not sharing the same defence as Zeus, Raserei is faster, more agile, and generally a wind type Etherian. He can be deadly with his claws, though as a bird he can be easily spooked when confronted and is better for transportation and swift, speedy attacks rather than full-frontal assaults.

[B]Kosey[/B] is the newest addition to the Etheria and the least experience. A dog creature with three tails and small flames at the end, Kosey is, apparently, a fire Etherian capable of creating great fires and immense heats from his mouth and body. But, seeing as Kosey is new, he barely shows any of these abilities as of yet, and instead tends to stalk around growling and barking. When motivated, Kosey can be a dangerous dog, though nothing more as of yet.

[B]Personality:[/B] Matthew is a very open minded person and equally kind. Not quick to judge character, he is willing to help anyone in need. Although this has gotten him in many sticky situations, Matthew still wll help people he thinks needs it.

On rare occasions though, Matthew has been known for outbursts of rage, causing him to render almost anyone his enemy. Very few people are able to calm him down from this state.

[LEFT][B]Broly:[/B] Named after the Super Saiyan from the anime 'Dragonball Z', this Etherian looks similar to the powerhouse, except that he does have the 'Saiyan' tail, and the large pendant around his neck is gold with a large green emerald in the center. Being a non-elemental, Broly doesn't cause any super effective damage, but his hits will never be that ineffective. Given his emmense size, Brolys speed isn't up to par as Matthews other Etherian, but it would take a great force to cause any kind of knock-back.

Being something of a 'Saiyan', Brolys main form of attack is using his physical fighting capabilites and his 'ki' to form damaging orbs of energy. His most powerful attack, Blaster Shell, takes a few seconds to charge, but if it misses, the explosion aftermath may cause moderate damage.

[B]Dimunsis: [/B]A dragon like creature, Dimunsis is the size of a dragon whelpling. But don't let his size fool you, he is a dragon. Colored with flame red scales, Dimunsis is a fire elemental. His main attack is just a jet of flames from his mouth that ran reach a temperature of around 400 degrees F. But his power attack is Pyroshpere. A molten hot ball of fire and heat form in Dimunsis' mouth. Upon impact, whether it be foe or object, a large flame bursts, sending waves of searing heat in a 10 foot radius. Anything within that 10 feet is either burned or seared.[/LEFT]

[B][U]Crossover Experience:[/U][/B] [indent]Matthew entered [I]Crossover[/I] after its first year had successfully passed, drawn in by the ravings of the game?s current players and the possibilities offered by an alternate reality. Like many others, it was a sort of escape for him; Matthew was feeling ever more hemmed in by his job as a corporate programmer, and [I]Crossover[/I] allowed him the opportunity to rekindle his childhood dream of becoming a woodsman while still earning a living. Since his entrance he has become an accomplished hunter and tracker, and his skills are respected, and occasionally sought out, in the places where he is known.

In the game, Matthew goes by the Irish version of his name, Maitiú ó Coileáin. Originally he wished to rediscover his heritage, and meant to use the name as a starting point, but now it has almost become a second identity.[/indent]

[B][U]Etheria:[/U][/B] [indent][B][U]Áed:[/U][/B] This fire-spirit Etherian is one of Matthew?s starters. Immaterial in form, Áed typically manifests as a small tongue of fire that hovers about five feet from the ground, or fourteen inches from Matthew?s left shoulder; all of its attacks are based on rapid changes in its shape and size. It is one of the more serious Etheria in the game, and it pulsates when it speaks.

[B][U]Conrí:[/U][/B] Conrí is an anthropomorphic Etheria, more commonly recognized as a werewolf. Matthew and Áed encountered him unexpectedly during an ordinary forest outing, and Matthew tracked him for two days before outwitting the wolf into surrendering to him. Conrí is a melee-based Etherian, and can to battle in either wolf or humanoid form; his name is Irish for Wolf-King.

[B][U]Uilleag:[/U][/B] This Etherian takes the form of a small, blond, devious boy. Matthew named him ([I]playful spirit[/I]) for his personality and the nature of his skills; Uilleag is a master of illusions. He speaks somewhat naively at times, and it is unclear whether he finds combat a game, a sadistic pleasure, or a mixture of both.[/indent]


[B][U]Note:[/U][/B] Though he fits in easily with other players in [I]Crossover[/I], Matthew is a recluse in real life, and he never plays on the same server as the people he knows. Kredion Recently Started Crossover as a Way to Escape his Boredom and the fact of his Father's death.. His mother is a highly Acclaimed Doctor and is always on call and is Barely ever home.. Lucky for Kredion his Mother's absence has allowed him to Wander as Freely as he pleases as long as he does his school and such.

Etheria: Celestia - A Female Humaniod With Glowing White Light in the shape of wings out her back and the light covers Her body's more private parts.. When she Powers up her flowing Blonde hair floats and her eyes open to reveal pure light behind them.. Her Ability Shields the Group from harm and Heals a small part of their Life if used on the group or completely Heals one Character.

Angus- A Large Brown haired Green eyed Brawny Warrior who wears only a Loincloth, Calf Length Boots and A Huge Sword. As he comes out to play He attacks with Direct Sword Slashes and He is based off of Someone who has been interupting His dreams as of late.[/COLOR][/I][/FONT]

Pretty good, Ugamon, but you should probably tone down Celestia's healing a bit. Also, players don't make their own Etheria; Etheria are already in the game, and players just get those. However, if you want Angus to be similar to someone in Kredion's dreams, that' quite all right. So basically, you're in.
