VincentTheGreat
What ever happened to the arena? Older myotaku members will remember it. It was when you chose 2 anime charcaters and wrote a batte scene telling who you thougt would win. I must say I miss that. it was really entertaining to read.( i remember a Sephiroth and Link one that was pretty cool) :animesmil

Desbreko
If you're talking about the sparring forum, that got removed quite a while ago due to various reasons. Partly because of low quality spars, partly from disputes because there was no clear way to judge the winner, and also just because any spar that was actually decent could be put into the main RPG forum. It hasn't really been missed. If you're talking about something that was on theOtaku/myOtaku and not related to OB, I have no idea.
Gavin
Des is right, you're probably talking about the old sparring forum who inhabitant Neil lorded over as I remember. You can still make spars inside in the Theatre, there's just not a specific forum for it any more.
Boo
Hi, I've been part of MyOtaku for a while now, 2005 I think, but never got around to going to this site. I'm looking forword to getting to know those i don't know already. :animesmil
Don't think he means the spar forum. Vicky
I think I know what he means, but it was quite a few years ago before I was even on OB. Exactly what he said on MyOtaku - you posted a battle between two characters and winner's would get shown, or something like that. I'm not sure. I'm sure I know what you're talking about but it escapes my mind because it was long ago, so I can't give an exact explanation XD Anyways I dunno where it went, I forgot about it until now, hahaha.

It was taken off without notice or reason. I never said anything about it then , I was just thinking about again and wanted to know if anyone else missed it, But im sorry i didnt know you couldnt voice opinions in a FORUM, frankly this being my first thread and haveing that be the first response, well i guess ill just stick to myotaku. It happens on forums. Also, if it was on myOtaku, then the best person to ask would probably be Adam, the site founder. If anyone would know about this feature it would be him: Adam Now as for Deus ex Machina, just do what the rest of us do, ignore him when he's like that. After all, plenty of other people responded so that's proof right there that the rest of us are friendly. :)

Vicky
Well you see it wasn't really a spar. People posted a battle, sort of, between two anime characters and the best would be put up. Then next week, two new characters were picked. It's something like that, I think. I definitely remember it, because I recall when I was younger itching to do it myself, but I never did because I sucked devastatingly at writing. Tell 'em, Adam! Tell 'em it was real! I'm sure of it! XD

I remember what you're talking about. You're referring to the matches we used to have at theOtaku.com, where people would vote for whichever character they wanted to win. I'm honestly not sure why it was taken away; it seemed quite popular. I will talk to Adam about it and see if he has any plans to re-introduce it in the future. :catgirl:
Allamorph
Considering the feature sems to be writing based, I doubt it'll come back. theO seems to be focusing mainly on fan art in its various forms, so..... We could start one here....
James
It wasn't really writing-based, it was just an online poll. People just voted for their preferred character. It was much like the poll feature you see at a site like GameFAQs. So it's ridiculously easy to do and requires virtually no input or management from staff. If it's something people want then sure, we can easily do it here using regular poll threads. A lot of people voted, but I don't know how well it would go on OB.
Justin
I remember the feature you're talking about. I never participated in it much, though. Nor do I recall it being removed. I doubt it would garner much attention here, either. But, what do I know? I'm finding myself closer and closer to putting Deus on my ignore list. Which is rough, because I honestly don't think I've ever done that before. Maybe you could calm down on the oh...I don't know...thoughtlessness? It'd help. -Justin

James
I don't really care who ignores who, but I think it sucks to have to point out that it's not fair to treat brand new members - who ask completely legitimate questions - like something you scraped off your shoe. It's disappointing to see that, considering how welcoming people usually are here. Anyway, if anyone does want to see The Arena return in some form then please, feel free to create a thread in the Info Kiosk about it. If there's enough interest we can certainly try it. People may have some suggestions about how we can maybe change it to suit OB or something.

Desbreko
Ah, so that's what he meant. I, too, was thinking it was some kind of writing competition on myOtaku. I faintly remember seeing those polls but I hardly visited theOtaku back then so I never followed them. And that's not a bad idea, Gavin. But I think Dagger would win that match; I'm too nice to girls and my signature move is useless against them anyway. :(
