It will have adult themes, adult messages, and adult references. All of that said, welcome to the first RPG I've ever designed with a real plot in mind. The goal of this story, aside from the development of characters, will be the overarching theme of revolution and freedom of thought. If your character is part of the world without revolution, you'll be exploring ways to bring down the monarchy you live under. If your character is chosen to be the one from the real world, your goal will to be convince the rest of us poor unfortunate souls that revolution is the key to progress and true freedom.

If you've been keeping up with the Backstage thread, then you have a vague idea of what I'll ask of you now. If you haven't, go there now. It isn't painfully long, nor will it kill you. But seriously folks, here it is. And if you're wondering about the title, I rolled a die to determine what it would be. Expect the rest of this RPG to be equally random. However how I choose the one person who has come through the real world into this alternate one, is not random. That will be skill based. As far as posting rate, or planning, you decide how fast you want your character to develop. If you can only post sporadically, that's just fine, so long as you actually post once every couple of weeks. Of course if you sign up and then later decide that you're too tired/busy/lazy to post, I'm sure your horrific and untimely death can be arranged.

So, aside from the usual signup, if you have an interest in being the person from the world with America, post or PM me a sample of how your character would react when seeing my character as a Chinese noble for the first time. Remember of course that I won't know who the hell you are, and that you will think it's just me playing dress up. If your heart is set on being that one universal interloper and not just a character stuck in the world without revolution, then only post your audition attempt. But if you still want to participate, feel free to post both a regular signup and the sample of your work.[/i]

[center][b]As things stand, the world is much as it was before the 1700s. Deific monarchies have near complete control over their great empires, and those that harbor dangerous revolutionary thoughts are either very quiet about it, or are always on the move. At first, your goal is to live your life quietly or comfortably, or just to live at all. But eventually news will reach you that there is to be a meeting in Paris between dignitaries from both the British Empire and the Chinese Imperials. And it's entirely possible that those who have those dangerous new ideas may have secret meetings in an undisclosed location simultaneously, but that'd be crazy. The act of desperate men longing to be free. Will you be there?[/b]

Of course when it comes to her own personal concerns, like ordering her servants around, she exerts her own agenda over them with absolute authority. Then again, when she's studying under one of her private tutors, she's far more likely to show deference to them as well. After all, they are older than her.

There has been some speculation by more unkind and undoubtedly jealous members of the family as to her heritage, but seeing as how her mother would have them killed if she found out... ...there hasn't been [i]that[/i] much speculation.

[b]Family History:[/b] Di's family has owned a long string of banks in the Nantsang Province for centuries, ensuring a great deal of residual income and general comfort for the immediate members of the Chang clan. Di's mother is number three daughter in a family of three girls, but because the first two were barren, all the wealth and attention that would've gone to the firstborn came to her instead. By statute, Di has been given her fair share of spoiling as well. Firstborn daughter ensured her a comfortable lifestyle, and while she will someday owe deference to her younger brother, Number one son, that doesn't bother her much. After all, he looks up to her and probably always will.

[b]Occupation:[/b] A noble in the house of Chang, sometimes receives guests, and merchants, often is a decorative object at parties and gatherings.

[b]Social Standing:[/b] Married to a man of house Liang, but since his untimely death in a horrible cart accident, she now lives at home again with her only son.

[B]Personality:[/B] Comes across as a sarcastic bastard to those who don’t know him well enough. Recent family events have made him a bitter and cold. He doesn’t trust people until he gets to know them or has known them for a long time and knows they wouldn’t betray him in any way. He is a man of honor as he was raised and stands strong by his morals and never backing down when he is confronted on them. He is well spoken and has a high intellect that most people don’t see in him.

[B]Appearance:[/B] Attached. He stands around 6’ 1”; he has brown, almost black, hair and grey eyes. He has somewhat an unkempt appearance but seems to hold himself confidently which contradicts what most people think of him.

[B]Family History:[/B] Dolan grew up very wealthy, his family decedents of Irish aristocrats that built the famous Upton castle. He was raised to be a proper gentleman and to follow in his parents’ foot steps as a successful financier. He and his younger sisters grew up as well rounded citizens but Dolan had different ideas. Dolan expressed his revolutionary views to his parents and they instantly tried to suppress them. He was told that he had become a danger to his family and that he must leave his house. He was sent away from his family and has not contacted them in two years. The only way he even knows they are still there is that he receives checks from his fathers firm periodically through out the year.

Collin Bringsfeild is a highly idealistic revolutionary, and he is also Dolan's pen name. He expressed his views in his highly controversial book [I]"Secret Freedoms"[/I]. Under his pen name and through multiple bank accounts that make tracking Dolan near impossible by the secret police he is able to stay hidden and still receive a fraction of his growing sum of money.

But unlike a great number of his peers, who lack the courage to actually go and fight for this upheaval, Eoghan has no compunction about putting his life in danger to achieve it.

[b]Family History:[/b] Like most people, Eoghan can't claim he's descended from Irish nobility, and honestly, he wouldn't want to even if he could. He believes that for him to have come from just an ordinary family gives him a legitimacy to talk about a free Ireland where everyone has the same rights, rather than those lucky enough to be born with the silver spoon lodged firmly up their ass.

[b]Social Standing:[/b] Given that he has to move around about every six months to avoid giving Crown forces a decent lead on him, Eoghan normally stays in apartments paid for by either his job, or by money filtered to him through the Irish Republican network, which finances exiles abroad.

The closest he ever gets to a relationship is a single night of meaningless sex with a faceless woman, whom he instantly forgets. It even made him agree with his dad's arrest for treason when he was just twelve, and as he saw his mother descend into alcoholism and depression, his fervour became even stronger. That was what made him want to become a police officer, and it was his devotion to the cause that allowed him to rise up through the ranks so quickly and efficiently.[/SIZE][/FONT]

At face value, most people would take him as an artistic fool with no ambition beyond painting pictures and sleeping life away. Few know that this is actually a mask he wears to shield the fiery warrior-philosopher personality that he holds within. With a deep sense of duty, honor, and nobility, Mikhali is a man proud of his noble people’s heritage and ways of life and wishes for nothing more than for a free Greek democracy, like the days of his ancestors long ago.

Mikhali dresses in a rather strange manner, embelishing his tattered clothing with patches and designs he made himself. His skin is a dark-tanned olive from his time spent outdoors painting and excersising. He also retains a large scar across his torso from the bomb which took the lives of his family.

[b]Family History:[/b] Mikhali lost his mother, father, and two brothers when he was only 12 to a revolutionary-terrorist’s bomb. They where together at an open-air market when the explosion claimed his family and left the young child with an awful scar across his chest. Mikhali was subsequently left to the custody of his only living relative, his uncle Stelios, a humble fisherman in the coast town of Rethymno. His uncle would teach Mikhali his family’s tradition of Pankration, the ancient Greek art of combat, as well as garnering his love of art with what little he could provide. Stelios taught Mikhali the ways of his ancestors and taught him about the past of the Greek people.

These tales and lessons would inspire Mikhali to become a revolutionary himself. A first hand receiver and witness of the suppression placed upon Greeks and non-Muslims in Greece under Ottoman rule, Mikhali wished to see the glory days of democracy and freedom return to his land. However, he would vow to use means that would not bring harm to the innocent, such as the revolutionaries whose bomb took the life of his family.

[b]Occupation:[/b] Mikhali by profession is a painter. He is often commissioned by wealthy individuals to paint homes and businesses, as well as personal portraits. By night, however, he is a revolutionary graffiti artist, who uses his artistic talents to spread a message of freedom and democracy.

[b]Social Standing:[/b] Orphans, non-Muslims, native Greeks, and Cretans in particular are all looked down upon by Ottoman society. Mikhali finds himself caught at one of the lowest social levels. Nearly an untouchable, he is seen as nothing more than a dirty hillbilly from the island of Crete and an orphan not worthy of attention.

He has a firm belief in holding to one?s responsibilities and takes his as King quite seriously.

His two younger brothers have also been educated to take other roles that would support him just as his younger sister has been preparing for when she will be married to the appropriate country. Edward enjoys a close bond between him and his siblings as all of them have been raised with the understanding that it is their duty to support one another in their roles within the house of Windsor.

[B]Personality:[/B] As you'd expect of any nobility, Dewi is arrogant, head-strong and totally self confident. He also has natural charisma and traditional good looks and uses them both wisely and cleverly as a tool in many ways. Dewi does exceptionally well to hold a dignified and honourable exterior amongst the noble people and all foreign visitors while remaining far more informal amongst his small circle of good friends. Dewi may not always agree with his Country's and Great Britain's ways and ideals but he knows his place well and really doesn't see the need to oppose them in any way.

His mother also often took him to their second house in the Welsh Valley's where he enjoyed a simpler life and also where he got involved in the Welsh underground ring of fighting.

During his teens, Dewi excelled in school and finished at the top of his class and became one of the most well-known (yet secret) young fighters in his nightly escapades. As such, he became known as one of Wales top young minds and flew easily through University and into his current position as an Ambassador for relations between Wales and Great Britain and for Great Britain and the rest of the world.

[B]Occupation:[/B] Ambassador for Welsh/Great British National and International relations.

[B]Social Standing:[/B] As an Ambassador working directly with the Royal family and as the first-born son of Wales most noble family, Dewi stands fairly high on the social ladder. He has a long list of female friends and lovers who he doesn't really care for, but is expected to entertain by his family. Secretly, he is also one of the most (in)famous bare knuckle fighters in the illegal tournaments that frequently take place in the Welsh Valley Mountains and has been since he was an early teen.

Like his grandfather, Dewi's only real passion is for the illegal, late night, mountaintop, bare-knuckle tournaments of which he is frequently the winner and an honourable guest. Dewi has the thought-process and good nature to be a revolutionary but is far too comfortable in his everyday life to bother engaging it. In all probability, without his late-night hobby, Dewi probably would indulge in those thought processess.[/size]

[B]Family History:[/B] Originally Elisabeth was being educated and raised with the sole intent of her family marrying her to a neighboring country to strengthen the ties between them and Germany, however her older brother Andrew was killed when he accidentally fell into a barrel of ale and drowned. Since he was not yet married and had no heirs Elisabeth was crowned Queen of Germany and has been ruling in his stead for just over a year now. She has one younger sister who is but ten and she raises her as if she were her own as their parents passed away when the youngest was but five. Though both of them live in comfort as a result of Elisabeth?s status as the Queen, it is a bit of a lonely existence for both of them as they miss their parents and their older brother quite a bit.

[B]Personality[/B]: When amongst his owners, Iki tends to ?loose? all personality to become nothing more than a movable doll. Initially he has more of a rebellious, disobedient, and vigilantly like. However, with enough time and mental shaping he became the ideal servant. Even when alone his personality doesn?t change much, most feelings when around others are done by an ?Input, output? system. Only known way to cause any change in personality is in threatening situations.

[B]Appearance:[/B] Iki stands at about 5?11 with a slight muscular build due to his profession. He has straight black hair down to about his shoulders with black eyes to match. His skin color is a lighter tone than what most would expect due to his origin due to a history of interracial relationships between his ancestors and their former employers.

Family History:[/B] Iki was bored as the illegitimate child between his father and his mistress. Originally sentenced to be killed, he managed to escape by means of the trade out of Europe and into the Middle East. After a short amount of time serving there he was quickly put up for auction once more deemed to be ?unsuited? for the living conditions of the area. He was moved for a final time out into the Far East where he resides in the house of Chang.

[B]Personality:[/B] Sarcastically dominant. Kathy likes to be the one on top of things, as close to the lead as she can get. She may not go about this in the most logical fashion, but she's effective at reaching the top. Kathy isn't an easily scared woman; she's seen enough anyway. She's very demanding, brutal, and far from the elegant women of her country. Despite all this, Kathy still retains a certain modesty and dignity to herself, though very little to others. She can be a keen ally and friend when she wants to be, otherwise she's very dangerous. Kathy resents most forms of rules and Government, so it's expected that she's not the most orderly person in the world. However, she does have a certain code of honour, based on morals and ethics... which, ironically, aren't very ethic at all. Kathy is a very hard woman to gain the trust of, and equally not to be trusted. She's very, very good at manipulating people, especially the rich and her own people.

Her family is very rich, wealthy and well known, though Kathy isn't really a part of them anymore. Her family has been involved in the British Navy and aspects of politics for many, many years, leaving them a good name for themselves as Navy Commanders. Kathy grew up around royalty and riches, even though she was mostly at sea, and came with all the dignity of her people. However, due to circumstances, little of that remains. From a young age, Kathy was kidnapped by a group of multi-nationality criminals, and although the Captain was infamous for his brutality, he was protective of her and she spent the next fifteen years among criminals.

[B]Occupation:[/B] A criminal. Kathy has been a part of an illegal trading circle for many years, refusing to follow any orders given by the British Empire, or any other Empire at that. Mainly, she lives among criminals and other men outside of the system - pirates, if you would.

[B]Social Standing:[/B] Anarchrist, though, technically, no social standing at all. In her [i]own personal[/i] social standing aboard a ship, Kathy is a somewhat 'second officer' to the Captain, though is more often known for making more appearances than the Captain himself, who stays aboard.

[b]Personality:[/b] Silent and subservient, listening to his superiors and following their directions to the point would be accurate for Dieter. That doesn't mean that he doesn't resent such treatment, but he stills his tongue when necessary. Out of the workplace, Dieter is not much different. He keeps to himself most of the time, and though it might be said that he is a sycophant, the reverse is actually quite true. He has a strong hate for the way things are going in Germany, and would be outspoken about it if his few friends weren't completely in love with the way things were. Dieter often feels himself to be unheard, and has started his decline into acceptance of the lifestyle forced up on him. He is often in a bad mood due to chronic migraines.

His thin lips seem to be twisted into a scowl nearly all of the time, and his face is often left unshaven for days, acquiring a fine layer of stubble. He stands around five foot nine, with a slender body type and a light to medium complexion. Dieter's eyes are colored like those of a rainy day - somewhat blue, but overshadowed with tones of grey that belie the true nature of his thoughts. He hands are often riddled with cuts and bruises, and a scar traces the left corner of his lip up to his left ear.

[b]Family History:[/b] Dieter was born into a wealthy family in the city of Berlin. They had prospered there, being one of the first families to be founded within present-day Germany. As such, they hold political sway over many forces, and are quite influential to the Queen of Germany. However, Dieter decided, after an assassination attempt committed on his father's life by foreign powers, that such a high risk way of living wasn't for him. His family was reluctant in letting him go, after all, Dieter was a bright scholar and spent many years reading and writing, along with countless hours wracked up in combat training. However, his father understood and turned Dieter out onto the streets by the time he was seventeen. From there, Dieter made his way to a manufacturing job for a large company, finding something of a solitude in the command structure that was forced upon him. He lacks a formal university education, but scrapes by on his street smarts and his former pursuits in the Rosenburg's library.

[b]Occupation:[/b] Dieter is a middle to low class worker, currently employed at a factory that produces armaments and goods for military and police applications.

[b]Social Standing:[/b] Never quite able to get over leaving his family behind, Dieter is ashamed to go out in public. He is often times tolerated instead of welcomed, and ranks fairly low on the social ladder. Though, Deiter could return to his former wealth and status if he ever chose to return to the Rosenburg manor.
