I disagree, I don't think morals are purely human. I think any creature that has evolved rational and logical thought will also have to develop morals alongside. I wouldn't expect them to develop exactly the same as us, though, i would expect them to have a few of the basic principles. Mainly I'm talking about the philosophy of ethics. Now, I'm not a philosopher, and I don't have any grand understanding of ethics philosophy, but to my knowledge it's basically stating firstly that as a rational being we (and they) value our own lives. Then next we see that by taking another's life we are endangering our own. This is true because if everybody's taking other people's lives then nobody's is safe. So, as a society, we do not harm others for at least the reason that we value our own lives. I highly doubt any advanced civilization could get around this. Of course, i could be wrong, but these are my thoughts.
I understand where you?re coming from perfectly, I?m just saying that I think applying human concepts like morality to other possible species is a bit unrealistic. For all we know they could be evolved from an insectoid species that has no concept or morality but rather pure logic, because morality and logic don?t always go hand in hand for example our using society?s resources to take care of our less fortunate is morally right, but not in any way logical.

Of course maybe you're right and we're the ones who look have no real idea of ethics on a grander scale.

The thing about Europa is that it is a planet covered in a MASSIVE glacier. Beneath that glacier is some sort of ocean, and when that glacier moves it cracks, sending water shooting breifly to the surface before it freezes over again. Thus, the temperature of that planet is extremely cold.

Therefore, the only life possible on that planet would be sub-surface life. And according to most speculations I've read, the atmosphere woudn't be very life-friendly anyway. Not saying it isn't there. Just saying this "earth-like" thing seems to be a better bet, if even half of the speculations are true.

In Ender's Game,
the Buggers were not actually out to destroy the human race. But because the two species couldn't communicate with each other, one of them (I believe the humans) attacked out of fear, and that's how all the Bugger Wars got started.

No...
the buggers intended to come to Earth to invade. The whole twist involving them was that they didn't realize that humans weren't a hive mind soceity, and therefore didn't realize that they were killing sentient life.

They likened it to "clipping toenails." They simply didn't think it was really damaging.

Ah, I guess I've been remembering it wrongly. D: Sorry about that.

Even still, disregarding my blunder, two beings that can't communicate will either try to learn how to do so or simply perceive each other as a threat and try to exterminate each other.

But I don't think that just because every life form on earth may not be able to survive under conditions on Europa or the earth-like planets, it means that any life at all is impossible. If we're considering the existence of aliens we should consider that they would probably not survive the same way we do.
But the prospect of life on Europe is slim at very best.

Sorry, that just tickled me.

Anyways, oh man oh man oh man. As someone researching the prospect and idea of Earth-like planets, this has me excited. But what will come of it? Who knows. I just know geeks like me are giddy.
