Now as for the Chimera's I have always assumed they were a mixture because of Chimera creation. Some with perhaps scales, some with feathers, some like horses or some like Chocobo's. And each race tailored to fit the type of Chimera being entered so there would be different types depending on the class or nature of the creature.

Anyway, I actually like the idea of different classes. You could always have a simple distinction of quadropeds versus bipeds.

I am not too worried about unfair advantage, just because we're already dealing with somewhat magical creatures anyway.

If everyone else is okay for Chimaera to be put into these two categories, then we'll all be pretty free to create mixtures that we like. This way if any of us talk about them in future we won't be too restricted in terms of the kinds of animals we can create.[/font]

I think you guys have nailed the idea of the chimaeras despite their description is so vague. They really are a combination of various animals, with the purpose of making them as fast and agile as possible.

I don't see why bipeds can't race against quadrupeds, though, but it's your choice. ;D

There's also the possibility of combining magitechnological parts to the chimaeras, which was something that Evangeline studied, at least to my knowledge. This of course gives those individuals an unfair advantage, but it's a race, not a charity.

Also remember that the Chimaera Circuit has a director, [B]Thames Dreadnaught[/B], who's yet to be even mentioned. He's pretty much in charge of holding the Cup and everything. You're free to use him in your posts if you want to.

[size=1]I imagine that there are different classifications of chimaera, and thus there might be different events for each type. Flying chimaera obviously couldn't compete against ones without that ability, and they probably break things up by size as well.

There might also be different obstacles, like hoops the racers have to fly through, so it could be much more exciting than a simple race. This is some great stuff so far, though. I'm eager to see what the final product looks like.

Gorillas can walk upright as well on all fours. Werewolves are usually in the same vein, since we're talking fiction here. And bird hipped animals like Chocobos aren't actually considered bipedals if you want to get all [b]scientific[/b] on me. For that matter neither are lizard hipped Velociraptor like creatures such as those pictured above me.

I'm not sure if flying Chimaeras sounds like a good idea though. They'd have to be in a dome or kept on invisible leashes or have jesses and hoods like flying hawks.[/FONT][/COLOR]

[SIZE="1"]Most primates, as D'Ann pointed out with gorillas, use bipedal locomotion Sandy. That said, if chimaera races are primarily about speed, which I suspect they are, then obviously bipeds are at a disadvantage. I actually thought most of the chimaeras would be feline based.[/SIZE]

[font=franklin gothic medium]In any case, being bipedal has nothing to do with standing upright. Bipedal just means an animal with two feet (this can include birds, primates and other groups).

I don't see why we couldn't have bipedal Chimaera. My mind first runs to Chocobo-type creatures.

Of course, they could be in their own class. So you could have Bipeds, Quadrupeds and Winged classes.

This should also allow a lot of scope if anyone wants to use pictures.[/font]

[font=franklin gothic medium]To be fair, we were talking about quadrupeds. So Sandy's comments were right, in the sense that quadrupeds do not have to stand upright - the same being true for bipedal animals, which is a group that includes birds.

As for flying Chimaera...I'm sure that's still possible. After all, this is a fantasy RPG. I'm sure a little Magitechnology can be incorporated to keep the Chimaera from simply flying off or whatever.[/font]

In my opinion we can go with anything. I think it would be great to have a variety of creatures. This way people are free to have a creature with feathers, scales, claws, hooves, etc etc...

I figure that since there hasn't been a standard definition put down, we should just go with the guidelines we've discussed here.[/font]

I was going to ask what Chocobo creatures are, but I just googled it. I'm for having both, creatures like that and creatures that run on four legs. It would give things more variety in my opinion.

Then when asked he can honestly say he didn't see what happened, well other than the part where she screams as she's trampled to death by the Chimeras racing by. :p

Anyway, I don't intend to post again until after the next[I] 'drama'[/I] happens since in my opinion it would be more meaningless socializing and I already covered that in my last post, so I see no need to cover it again.

I've used this post to outline what the Chimaera races are and how they work (as well as some of the more underhanded stuff related to them).

I've also introduced Thames Dreadnaught. And I've introduced a particularly nasty and infamous Chimaera jockey called Hugo Black. He's employed by the Dynasts.

And I've introduced Gustave to the family. He will know some of the older members because he met them at Vincent's wedding. But he won't know everyone well. Please feel free to mix with him as you see fit.

Oh, also...I imagine that Lucy will almost become Victoria Ann's pet. I think she'll become quite defensive of her too. Hopefully that is okay. :catgirl:[/font]

And for the record, we've established that despite the fact that Lucy is partially bird, she DOES in fact have a sense of smell. So if you don't smell good and your name begins with L and your surname begins with M, I wouldn't recommend getting close unless you want your brains pecked out.
