Yann
Always said I'd redraw this old image: http://baby-marshmallow.deviantart.com/art/Water-Arm-Ninja-17816689 and now I have. I think this illustration now gets the "Most detail I've ever put in such a small space' award, lol. The canvas size for this image was 4 x 5.5 inches, seems I'm gettting even more comfortable with my lines. Thanks for looking. Chikara Kokoro
That is a lot of detail, and I am very impressed with the amount of time it must have taken you. The geometric structures/buildings in the background are well proportioned and drawn, and the inking does a good job of showing depth. The characters, although anatomically not perfect (but how many people can say they don't make mistakes with anatomy?), both have interesting designs. I wish you would have spent more time on the girl because she seems to be less thought out than the rest of the picture. On the whole it's a good piece, but with the lack of detail in the faces it seems like something that's waiting to be colored. Coloring will improve the appearance of it, but maybe you should spend more time making the expressions more, well, expressive. Just so this ends on a positive note, how did you get all of that fabric to look so nice? Wow! Those folds are insane. It's hard for me to stop looking at them wanting to fly off into the breeze
Yann
It's not inked yet, these are just the pencils. Everything I do is drawn with the intention of adding colour, which is why I don't shade or use black very often. The girl wasn't quite an afterthought but she definitely didn't get as much attention paid to her as the ninja, mostly because she's drawn really small and getting more detail on here would have been too difficult (her size on paper is only 1.5 x 2 inches). I don't think I did anything too special with the cloth, I've been drawing and studying cloth and wrinkles for years and while I'm still not as good as I want to be I get what I want done for the most part.
