So Aggrivating

I just bought Azumanga Daioh and Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz. I own Outlaw Star and the hot anime right now like Bleach and Naruto I can watch easily without buying.

What is annoying me right now is what to get next. It was difficult trying to find the right series to buy today.

These series are the ones I am currently considering:

Gundam Wing
Gundam 0083
Gundam 08 MS Team
Kaliedo Star
Initial D
Gravitation
Sailor Moon
Last Exile
Lain
Loveless
Trigun

Loveless has spiked some interest lately but I am weary of cat people. I've seen most or all of the series above. Ones I am not interested in to purchase are Deathnote, Cowboy Bebop, DBZ etc etc etc, Pokemon etc etc etc etc, Neon Genesis Evangelion and Samurai Champloo.

I like some Shonen-ai but not the biggest fan. Kyo Kara Maoh and Gravitation are as far as I go in that area. I am a big gundam fan as you can tell and I love anything from romance to action however I am not too keen on the sci-fi genre. Advice?

If you like having your mind throughly raped, buy Lain immediately. It's by far the best show on your list (well, I havne't seen Kaleido Star - it's probably the real #1) as for NGE that's a BUY IT NAOW! series. Currently, the DVDs for Simoun and Welcome to the NHK just started coming out, so if you're only interested in getting DVDs every couple months, those would be two series you'd be wise to invest in. I also highly suggest the nearly completely released Mushishi. As well as the awesome Mai-HiME, which would probably be the most up-your-alley.

Well Kaleido star is probably the most entertaining of the shows up their. It is pretty ispiring. Cowboy Bepbop is a classic and so is NGE. NGE is cheaper though so you should pick that up first then Cowboy Bebop(although I think Cowboy Bebop is better). I would try Boogiepop Phantom before I tried Lain if I were you.

Here's what you should do get the first season of Kaleido star and get NGE first since they will likely be the cheapest. Then once you finish them try boogiepop and if you aren't confused try lain.

I didn't think Evangelion was all that great myself. Yeah, it's got the psychological stuff going on, which is kind of interesting, and you can analyze it all to hell. . . . But it wasn't actually very entertaining. (Though it probably doesn't help that I'm not a fan of mecha in general.) I can't blame her for not being interested in buying it.

I have to recommend Kaleido Star out of the list you posted, Japan. I watched both seasons of it a while ago and was just utterly amazed at how fun and engrossing it is. No doubt I'll be rewatching it sooner rather than later. It's definitely worth owning.

There is something their for those who aren't into pondering the meaning of the show I think.

It's ALL a matter of personal oppinion. I find analyzing to just be boring - all the symbolism is crap, it's not like it enhances the story unless your the type who masturbates to the history channel. i just straight-up found it entertaining. The battle scenes are unique, intense, and some of my all-time favvorites. The characters are memorablee and the whole thing really sticks in your mind. And, yeah, I'm a psychology nerd, but it's just deep and that makes it fun. Existentialism FTW.

The only thing I found entertaining in Evangelion was the scene with the
panties going everywhere
. Otherwise it was too dramatic and annoying to get in. DB, I've seen all of Lain and I do agree it is awesome. =3

I just love too many. I guess I will get Kaliedo Star next. It was extremely cheap at Suncoast. Lunox, can you tell me more about why you hate Loveless?

Ah, so you've seen them, just looking to buy. Well then I suggest buying ones you haven't seen yet. Though I still regret that I only ever got Lain on Signature Series, snxce those DVDs are ugly, though the series box is nothing to look at -_-

I WARN YE. Kaleido Star has a lot of DVDs and they aren't always easy to find (I can only find goddamn New Wings)

Anyway, if you didn't like Eva, why did you want the DVDs? :o

Thinpaks for both seasons of Kaleido Star are out, so she should be able to get it pretty cheaply (and without having to search for the separate DVDs).

Damn I was gonna say that...

Anyway that is probably the best and most economical choice to make. In my humble opinion I think it is a modern day classic...

I loved Gundam 0083 and Gundam 08 MS Team. I wasn't a huge fan of Wing because it was so stylized and I appreciated the previous two's realism and depiction of war. I would suggest those.

I liked Trigun alot when I was first getting into [adult swim], but its animation is kinda hoaky, but the characters are cool and its fun to watch. If you can get past the mediocre animation, I'd suggest that. It's a good story.

If you like Gundam, and if you havn't seen it, I'd suggest Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket, which is a, I think, six episode series which is really, really good. Its probably my favorite Gundam and one of most emotionaly involving series I've ever seen.

The whole "I'm your Fighter and you're the Sacrifice" was so dry and unoriginal to me. Going off of that, some of the dialogue and some scenes made me want to stab me in the eye. It was so melodramatic and trying to evoke some sort of creative depressing emotion, but it totally backfired on me.

And probably one of my biggest reasons for not liking it was the the character Yuiko, who was the epitome of what I hated in anime girls.

Granted I don't remember a lot, because I watched so long ago, but I just remember hating it.

[*]Gundam Wing: the DBZ of the Gundam series. It's decent, but not as good as everyone makes it out to be. If you think the drawings are that hot (I think their proportions are fugly as hell), then you'll enjoy this.
[*]Gundam 0083: is this Stardust memory? It was actually pretty good, but the main character's emo becomes unbearable in the last few episodes.
[*]Gundam 08 MS Team: this was my favorite Gundam series, but it's seriously undeveloped. It's short, but the quirky characters are the best cast around in anime, IMO.
[*]Kaliedo Star: never saw
[*]Initial D: it was cool at first, but then it got stupid. They try to drag out one concept throughout the entire show. Not worth it
[*]Gravitation: never saw. Is this the gay one?
[*]Sailor Moon: DBZ for girls. Long, never got into it.
[*]Last Exile: really beautiful, really wonderful to watch. The character development is a little stale, so is the music. It's a mediocre anime with a great package. It's fun to watch nonetheless. Looks soooo goood! @_@
[*]Lain: My favorite of the bunch. I watched this twice: first time I had no clue what the hell was going on. Second time I had received my psychology certification and it was surprisingly a transparent show. Not sure if it was the psych or the second go, but either way, I enjoyed watching the show both times.
[*]Loveless: never saw. Is this the lesbian one?
[*]Trigun: It was ok, but the art got to me.

Any other good Gundam series? I liked every one so far and I've seen all or some about seven or eight of them. They are:

G Gundam
Gundam X
Gundam 08 MS Team
Gundam Wing
Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory
Gundam Seed Destiny
One I forgot the title but it is about this little boy who's friend is a Gundam pilot or something. Judging from the art I think it came around in the 80's like Stardust. Does anyone know this?

I like to make sure what I spend my hard earned money on is what I like.

I did see a thin pack for Kaliedo Star season one out for $30 at Suncoast.

Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket? I will have to check it out. I keep hearing that Gundam X will never be released in America. That true?

War in the Pocket is the one you're thinking of from the '80's. The pilot is the kid's older brother. It's really, really good. If you like Gundam, I'd get it. If you like anime, I'd get it. I loved it.
