conpiracymonki
I know people here dont really care for rap generally, but I think this song is great at creating this feeling of uneasiness and paranoia. It's the way the strings pull in the background and how he's so openly uneasy and unsure about everything. Joe Budden - Walk With Me (click for youtube linky) I'd recommend listening to it with the lyrics in front of you, rap songs tend to have more words jammed into them lol?
[Sound_Nin]
I have a few, actually. Flyleaf - All Around Me This seems to be a typical love song these days, but the way I interpret it is opening up to someone, and healing, even though you know they could just knock you down lower than you were to begin with. And damn, do I have experience with that. Coheed and Cambria - Wake Up I really do agree that Coheed and Cambria is the single most emotional band, without being 'emo'. "I'd do anything for you... KILL anyone for you..." This song just makes me feel safe. Metallica - Fade to Black I don't have a perfect mother. And she used to tell me she knew she'd die young, and this was the song she wanted played at her funeral. The instrumental by Apocalyptica is -dare I say?- even more mind-blowing than the original. A Perfect Circle - Counting Bodies Like Sheep to the Rhythm of the War Drums or Pet Many people have gotten these two songs mixed up. Same lyrics, different songs. While Counting Bodies Like Sheep just send shivers down my spine and a feeling of dread, Pet illicits more of a, angry, sadistic mood. Or even, complete apathy. Which is an emotion in itself, interestingly enough. Straylight Run - Hands in the Sky (Big Shot) The feeling I get off this song is giving in and accepting your fate ('It never ends, never ends, never... ends...') but regretting it later, questioning yourself why you never fought back. Idk, these are just my interpretations. :] Everyone gets a different feeling off a song.
Anakoni Stark
Song #1: Neon Knights Artist: MSTRKRFT In reality this tune is almost six minutes of rolling and scratch, but if you listen to it with the right mindset and with the right people, it goes from boring to mosh worthy right after the second break down. This tune has alot of energy and potential behind it, every time I listen to the song, I seriously want to start a mosh pit with whoever I'm with or where ever I am, it also keeps my spirits on the high noted end and the energy of the song flows through my body, which keeps me awake and hyper. Song#2: Uniform [Walker Version] Artist: Bloc Party It gives me a great feeling of paranoia, while the song slowly pulls itself along, the song manages to paint a picture of what this generation's youth turning into a bunch of kids who are brainwashed by the music they listen to, and they cling onto whatever they think is cool, and the reconstruction of this song makes it seem more like an opera, like the track was orignally intended to be. Song#3: Atlantis To Interzone [We Are Rockstars Remix] Artist: The Klaxons Vs. The Outfit It's a very dark tune, as opposed to the orignal which is more on the frantically upbeat side. when I listen to this song I get that feeling to break out the glowsticks and rave with my friends when this song plays, it gets a little too slow during the breakdown, but that feeling of dreadfully monotone bs, is washed away with a short ending hopped up on coke. Song#4: D.A.N.C.E. Artist: Justice I get this feeling that I've been washed away back to a very 70s influenced chicago club. The song is so infectous, I just want to get up and dance [c'on it's in the freaking song] and look like an idiot doing it, but it's always better when the song plays when I'm with my friends, we all get together, and try to recreate the video, and we'll sign the lyrics while two of us walk down the street taking off mutiple shirts. Song#5: F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X. Artist: The Fall Of Troy This song just makes me want to dance like an idiot, then mosh, then dance like an idiot again, but when the mosh part starts: I WANT TO BREAK SOMETHING AND MOSH [yes it's that good] and during the final part, continue to dance like an idiot. The song also makes me feel like I'm lost, trying to find something. Song#6: Fancy Footwork [An End To Arms Remix] Artist: Chromeo Vs. The Outfit This song makes me want to run, seriously, just makes me want to run and pull off some of that parkour stuff while I listen to it [which I'm ok at]. Also [I know it's physically impossible to do this] it makes me want to run AND dance at the same time. Song#7: Gunshots By Computer Artist: Saul Williams This song makes me feel very paranoid, and causes me to worry about the direction American politics is heading, I think that the HYPERPOWER! remix still manages to paint a good picture of what Year Zero would be like.

I just bought Doppleganger last night, and I've noticed how the first half of the album is all fun badassery and the second half is all visceral badassery, lol. The whole album is great for just screaming your heart out. I think the strongest emotional one is probably Laces Out, Dan! which just makes you feel utterly demented, especially when he screams in that utterly freaky voice, "DID YOU THINK THAT I WAS JOKING?!" pretty crazy. Similar feeling to one of my alltime favorite songs, Godfather's Lollipop by Shabutie. Actually most of the songs on Shabutie's Penelope EP feel like that.
Guest TechNoCandii
Question by alice nine. This song just strikes a nerve every time I listen to it, bringing me to tears. Very few songs have actually been able to do that. I can just connect to the lyrics in this song so well, every lyric reflecting what I'm feeling. The vocals also reinforce the raw emotional lyrics with an amazing duet between Shou(vocalist) and Saga(bassist). A recommended song indeed. Panache
I listened to 3 Libras just now by A Perfect Circle. It gets really intense and sort of angry yet sorrowful. It's really amazing when he just starts saying "You don't see me." Oh yea and Castle made of Sand by Jimi Hendrix is really bittersweet for me. Sure he talks about really sad events but the way he tells the story kinda makes it seem like there's some hope.
[Sound_Nin]
I just realised I don't have 3 Libras on here. It's an amazing song, and one of my favourites by them, but then again, I did delete my entire music collection and begin the task of getting only my favourites. I didn't remember some of them, however. I'd like to note another band that just send pure electricity through my veins. Purple Rain by Prince I don't know if it's possible to NOT like this song. It's one of the most beautiful songs in history, in my opinion of course. And this isn't just because I lived in Minneapolis, and the song just aches of the city. The guitar, his voice, everything just coalesces into a song where you don't care how good the guitar is, how good his voice is, but how mindblowingly amazing it all is together. And even if you were to pick it apart, each instrument is well-played. And the pain in his voice... Okay, if I don't stop now, I'll go on and on about this song. :D
Guest Negative Uplift
For me a song gives me a strong emotion would be Destroy The World Around Me by: Mushroomhead. It's hard to describe but it kind of makes me feel like the song was meant for me. Another song that gives me a good feeling is Free by: Taproot. This song gives me the same feeling I get when I watch my favorite Anime shows.
KisukeUrahara
I can attribute several songs to different times in my life and every time I hear one of them I'm haunted - gets kinda depressing looking back on some regretable times, ya know? "Just Like You" - Three Days Grace "Everything You Want" - Vertcial Horizon "Vermillion" - Slipknot "I Hate (Everything About You)" - Three Days Grace
NightAlchemist
For me it would be "1000 Words" from Final Fantasy X-2. It's just full of emotion and beauty!
Asher
I'm most likely going to post here more than once because I have so many songs to listen to! The first song is probably All I Need by Radiohead. It's lyrics evoke a sense of longing for someone. Yet you constantly feel like you're not there from the person's point of view and detached. Which is a feeling I've had for many many years. The end part of the song is one of the most powerful things I've ever heard (With white noise, the change in cymbals, strings, and glockenspiel). Thom sings "S'all wrong" and "S'all right" back and forth, which always inspires me. I might be wrong about the whole meaning of the song, but I'm always uplifted at the end to do something. It's hard to describe, but please please listen to this song if you have similar feelings described above.
Rachmaninoff
Although there are plenty of songs that I could say evoke a strong emotion, often what I tend to notice is a well played melody or snippet in a song or piece that makes the song or movement powerful. Kind of like in Jaws, that signature music that tells you what's coming or like in Star War's with Vader's theme. It's more those snippets of a melody that evoke a powerful emotion when I'm listening to them instead of a particular song. Though that's probably just what I notice more than anything. After all, I listen to instrumental music more than I do to music with actual lyrics. XP
