Boast about your collection! Drool over stuff you'll never be able to afford! Besides, I'm awfully curious... do any of you buy (or just lust over) posters? Figures? Artbooks? Plushies? Pillow covers? (And so on.) Might be too late to get a life-size Haruhi figure...

Or a $250,000 platinum Gundam with diamond eyes...

But there's still a lot of stuff out there for us to waste money on. Speaking for myself, I buy the occasional figure (although I try to keep it to a minimum, eheh). Once in a blue moon, I'll pick up an artbook or a calendar; the last ones I got were Rozen Maiden and Evangelion 2007.

My favorite piece of merch by far (at least until I get that Kino figure) is the American Library Association's Cantarella poster. New You Higuri illustration + seeing a manga character used in their long-time campaign of "READ" posters (found in many a library near you) = total win. Doesn't hurt that I'm a bookworm myself.

I'd never cared to spend any money on merchandise, other than a few Pokémon plushies I got back in 2000 for a few dollars each. (I still have them sitting around my room though.) That is, until I watched Aria. Now I have this on pre-order from ToysLogic:

It comes out at the end of the month. Having a foot tall Aria-shachou plushie is going to be so awesome. :catgirl:

I do enjoy ogling figures and plushies online every now and then but I don't really know where I'd put most of them even if I had the money to buy them. I have stuff occupying nearly every flat surface in my room other than the floor. I have room for posters but those have never interested me as much.

It's hard enough to get dvd's and manga let alone merchandise. XP If I ever do... I sooo want a plushie of Jama-P from Wedding Peach. As well as With from DNAngel. But for now... I have no merchandise to call my own. :bawl:

This is so hysterical**, I almost cried.

**If you have a twelve-year-old boy's sense of humor (which, apparently, I do).

I hadn't even heard of that manga before, and it sure doesn't sound like my kind of thing, but I might get it--along with the alternate dust jacket, of course--just for the lulz.

Lets see...
I have a FLCL wallscroll, 2 FLCL t-shirst, a Naruto t-shirt, a few gundum models like the red zaku (which is my favorite :p), a tamama plushie with his 2nd personallity look, and some old stuff from all of the AX expos i went to.

But I realy want a nendroid figure of Mikuru,Tsuruya-san, or Ryuk. Im pretty fond of the chibi look to it.

Box art is enough for me usually, just to have the box is amazing in looks and is awesome to have on display. Mostly I have posters for Bebop, Champloo, and Hellsing because they're awesome. I would like to own figures from my favorite animes but I wouldn't know what to do with them besides have them so they seem like a lost investment especially for the prices. T-shirts are cool tho, I love t-shirts. I only have one but can't wear it out the house because I would socially shunned for having an anime T. The only T i have is the Eureka seveN T from the special edition Vol 1, I never wear it but it holds a special place in my heart because that's my favorite anime so far.

The only type of merchandise I have are the Samurai X DVD's and Rurouni Kenshin and Yu Yu Hakusho VHS (heh). I don't have much room to actually collect all that other stuff, but if I do ever decide to collect any type of merchandise, it'll probably be box arts.

I don't really have any merchandise beyond DVDs and manga. >_>

I have a small figure from the Grow Lanser series that my sister gave me (kinda neat, I actually want the games now...). That's about all. Though this weekend I am attending Katsucon, so I will most likely be buying some things. Probably just more DVDs. >_> I'd really like some artbooks.

A few years ago I bought a wallscroll on impulse with the idea of displaying it in my room somewhere. By the time I had returned home, it had occurred to me: "Dear God, I can't possibly put this thing up. I'm a male college student in my twenties with facial hair and a paunch. I don't want to see this thing when I wake up every day, because it will constantly be telling me that I am That Guy."

Since then, I haven't grabbed a single article of anime merch. I don't know if this makes me a wimp or what, but there it is (in any case: it's not about "peer pressure" or whatever so much as self-awareness). Think of the 40-something who buys himself a convertible Corvette and then realizes, three miles away from the lot and putting the top down for the first time: "Oh, no. I'm a middle-aged man, I'm out of shape, I have two kids, I write business contracts for a bank as a career, and I've just bought myself the ridiculous drop-top sports car that I wanted to own as a 19-year-old. What does this say about me? Haven't I grown up? Am I really so shallow of a person?" I'm more or less in the same boat.

I won't try to besmirch others' love of swag (some people can own the stuff and pull it off quite wonderfully). But for myself, while I may find various kinds of merchandise completely awesome, I'm never going to buy it: it's just not something I could live with on a daily basis.

I am almost too poor to afford any merch right now:animecry:, so far I have the goat doll from Last Exile, 9 volume of Kyo Kara Maoh! dvd, a box set of DearS, and lots of manga. When Comic Con comes, I am sure that they have some anime in it, so I think I will purchase some new merch to add to my collection (hopefully).

Well it depends on how much it cost and where's it at. I went to check out the comic con online site and it's kinda close to not that far from where I live. Plus The price to go for a day is kinda cheap, and I read somewhere that they hand out your ticket when you go into comic con. The price is like range from $25-$30 between the days and that its going to be at the San Diego International Convention. So I'll check out the anime expo site and see if I should go to that one also.

My friend bought me the head-eating cap that Naruto wears when he sleeps. ^_^

I was surprised to find that it was actually quite fuzzy and comfortable. I'd expected it to be itchy. :p

Aria-shachou finally arrived after being delayed four times, for a total of nearly two extra months. But he's awesome and I love him. It's a very high quality plush with all the seams and the bit of embroidery on the hat sewn nice and tight. And I didn't know this when I ordered it but the bottom is open and there's space inside to fit your hand, so you can also use it as a hand puppet which is pretty cool.

A pic of me and Aria-shachou:
