Pumpkin
WOW has been the main MMO, for acouple years now, however recent news has shown that a lot of new MMO's are coming out in 2008. Age of Conan a mature fantasy-style MMO, Aion an angel themed, and Warhammer which contradicts a lot of the aspects that made WOW so popular. My question is what game are you playing right now? And are you considering any of the above options? What MMO are you most looking forward too? And do you know of any special MMO that is coming out? I would love to have another OB guild or see more interaction between members in online gamelpay such as Kabuki Troupe was in Guild Wars. Personally I'm planning on getting AOC until Warhammer comes out. I would like to try both. Although Aion, looks pretty interesting.
Semjaza
I play LotRO mostly now. I've tried a handful of the new ones, such as Tabula Rasa, but LotRO is the only one I feel is generally engaging and interesting (far more than any I've played, but that's just my opinion... and I'm not exactly a Tolkein freak). I play WoW from time to time, but only when friends are subscribing as well. Warhammer had a lot of things going for it, but like most MMORPGs these interesting and potentially innovative concepts have largely been dropped in favor of being more WoW-like for mass consumption and hopefully larger sales. I'm not as interested in it as I was, but like anything I'd have to try it. As for other new ones, I think that Conan RPG has some promise, but it's hard to say. The last beta apparently went kind of badly and they're restructuring the combat and changing some things related to class specifications. We'll see what happens, but I did find it interesting that it was rated M. That's insanely rare for these kinds of games. But I think the universe is interesting if nothing else. Aion looks kind of neat, but I find myself disinterested in many of the things NCSoft puts out. Guild Wars, Tabula Rasa, City of Heroes (aside from character creation). I'll give it a shot if I can, though. You really never know with MMORPGs... WoW had a lot of issues its first year, for example and even in the short time LotRO has been out, it's improved drastically.
ZachIsAPanda
Well, currently I play Guild Wars. Looking forward to GW2. But for others, I'm probably going to try Warhammer, though it looks like a WOW rip off. And if it IS a WOW rip off, I'll be very dissapointed. I hate grind fests that center around killing 10 monsters for a quest and doing so many level ups.
Semjaza
It seems like other MMORPGs have at least improved that. LotRO very rarely has that issue, nor does Tabula Rasa. WoW seemingly still hasn't learned its lesson... I was playing it the other day and I had to kill arguably 30 lynxes for 8 pelts. It's just plain boring and it's not like there's a shortage of things to do. There's some decent in-game videos of Warhammer out if anyone wants to see them: http://www.incgamers.com/2/article/6943.html Use IE, though. I never got the videos to load in Firefox. I got to about level 14 before I decided this was going to take ages and it wasn't worth the space on my computer. However, it was fun for a while. Warhammer looks pretty good, I have to say. Are we talking about the same Warhammer I think we are? I assume so.
