(And no, I'm not a bigot. I'm not even an atheist. I am a Christian. I just wish this disgusting excuse for a human being would crawl back under whatever rock he oozed out of.) conpiracymonki
I mean I could understand that maybe they dont agree with gay peoples' lifestyles or whatever, but to protest at a deadman's funeral is a complete lack of respect towards his family/friends and to the sanctity of life. It's not even like he was gay, he portrayed a gay character. You dont see them picketing outside every actor who's ever played the role of a villain for portraying a sinful person. I was avoiding all the Dark Knight info best as I could resist until release day, but now I really want to see the previews to the film now just to see how he was going with his role. 10 Things > All romcoms
PWNED
Well, unless those crazy baptists plan on heading to Australia than they aren't picketing. Not to mention the fact that Australia doesn't have freedom of speech, therefore they are screwed if they try picketing.
conpiracymonki
Well the Fox article title says "Kansas Baptist Church Intends to Picket Heath Ledger's Funeral..." and to my knowledge he was found dead in New York? So the funeral may be in the US, possibly.
Allamorph
Wasn't really sure whether to reply here or not. I can't say much other than I am sorry he's dead and he was a good actor; that's already been covered, so I feel kinda out of place. Shame about the circumstances, though. And I'm not going to say anything about Westboro. I made my views clear on them elsewhere.
Aberinkula
Heath Ledger Dead at 28 (1,2,3) PWNED
That's even funnier. Anyways, I loved Heath's role in Knight's Tale. And while the sex scene in Brokeback still haunts me to this day, him and Jake did a bang up performance, no pun intended. Are you joking? I can't tell. I have no idea what's happening with his funeral, but as has been mentioned, I assume he will be buried in Perth where he came from. I can't imagine all the Baptists getting on a flight to Perth, really. And they would have very few sympathizers in Australia (as in, maybe one person or something). These people really just need to be ignored. They are really in the same league as the Ku Klux Klan (possibly even more venomous). I don't really give them a second thought - they are just too much of a nutty fringe group to even worry about.

The constitution is not the only public document, you know. There's also something called legislation. Our laws expressly provide for freedom of speech, assembly, religion and so on. This group can say what they like in Australia, however, they may be told to move on if they are deemed to be harassing someone. In any case, they aren't picketing here; they are attending two memorial services in the US (and according to one of their leaders, the Oscars might see a visit from them as well).

Nomurah!
I heard about this on G4 a while back. Kind of saddens me... He was in two of my favorite movies... 10 Things I Hate About You and Lords of Dogtown. In 10 things he played an Australian badass that was payed to go out with a girl he ended up falling for... In the other, he played a messed up surfshop owner that started a legendary skate team and then went crazy.. And to what aceburner said a while back.. THEY SUCK. They're not good christians, at all now are they? lol ...Pwnage.
