But I wanted to start a thread for people who speak French, and people learning, to excercise their language skills. :] Feel free to shut this one down if it isn't as good of an idea as it seems to me right now, haha. Roxie Faye
"Je voudrais your mom." is a running joke I now have with my friend who is a French major. Basically, it was my attempt to mock his annoyingness of speaking French to me at awkward times, and since I took Spanish in high school, that's what came out. So now we joke about it. "Où es-tu?" I learned this weekend in Albany (MAAC tournament! Siena, you SUCK, Rider is awesome!) Okay. I will stop posting in here. =P

The13thMan
I took french back in highshcool for two semesters. I really hated the class. It was mostly because i had a psychopathic teacher. What a crazy whore she was! And i don't think language is my thing... i have enough trouble with english as it is. I'm an apple fry! Nice. I couldn't remember how to say "i like" so i just went with "i am".... and i thought pomme frite meant french fries. Which is odd because i also know that pomme de juice means apple juice. Crap, i sure do suck at language. Yo quiero Taco Bell?

SunfallE
Quelle est la traduction de cette phrase ? In other words, have fun. :p I found a handy translator I can use. So though I don't know French myself, I can at least get the basics of what's being said. Also, if that phrase is totally off? I blame it on the program I used. XP
Sandy
... and i thought pomme frite meant french fries.
But "pommes frites" do mean French Fries. After all, potato is "pomme de terre" in French - apple of the earth. ;D I also studied French for about four years, but I quit it in high school because I started studying Spanish (I constantly mixed up French "qui" and Spanish "que"), and because my teacher was also a kind of b**** - the type that wore way too much perfume and was way too pretentious for her own good. XP Seriously, another girl had to drop out of French because she would get allergic reactions from the teacher's scents. :/ But yeah, je parlais un petit peu de Francois, pero puedo hablar Español mucho mas. ;D
Gavin
J'etais edutier le français pendant un peu moins six ans. J'aime la longue, mais bien sur je prefere ecrire et dire en anglais. C'est plus facile a mon avis. I know there's no accents, I decided if I couldn't use all of them, I wasn't going to use any. Heh, a lazy cop-out from the Irishman. And yeah, pomme-frite is "french fry/chip", not "apply fry", though as Hugo also pointed out, 13thMan's line would be translated as "I am french fry" as opposed to "I am a french fry", funnily enough, I always thought pomme-frites were spelled always plural. Fun thread. We should plot taking over The Lounge in French so Beth has no idea what's going on. Heh, I'm just kidding Beth. ^_~
Solo Tremaine
Well, technically, 'pomme-frites' is only a colloquialism, short for 'pomme de terre frites', but yeah, you're right. I always thought it was 'fritte', and no 'pomme'. Haha, je sais de cela. Un petit étrange pour moi, mais eh, j'ai aimé les annonces. Also, I usually use an acute accent (é) in the word trés, but I've seen it with a grave accent (è), which one should be use? Going with the pronunciation, it should be trés, but it always shows up on spell-check. Yeah, I know about the Spanish thing. I learned a little, not because I WANTED to, but because my grandmother speaks four languages. And I only use accents because they're burned into my memory.
